She leads AJMA's work supporting Jewish physicians, fellows, residents and medical students facing discrimination and hostile workplace environments, and she recently testified before Congress on the rise of antisemitism and anti-Zionism in American healthcare.- And Masha Zemtsov is ADL's Director of education advocacy, helping schools, universities and institutions build the tools and policies needed to recognize and respond to antisemitism before it takes root. It is an important panel discussion with three of the most distinguished district attorneys across the country who all serve in a borough of New York City: Queens DA Melinda Katz, Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez and Staten Island DA Michael McMahon. The discussion focused on their efforts to prosecute hate at time when antisemitism globally, nationwide and in NYC is surging. ADL's most recent Audit of Antisemitic Incidents shows that 2025 was the third highest year on record for antisemitic incidents since ADL began tracking such data in 1979. 2024 was the highest year, followed by 2023. There is consistently no state with more antisemitic incidents than New York State, and three-quarters of those incidents take place in New York City. The comparative picture seems even starker. In 2025, 58 percent of the hate crimes in New York City were anti-Jewish, and that has only risen in 2026. That means that if you add up all the hate crimes perpetrated against all of the other groups in this City, you will not reach the number targeting Jews. This is an important space for ADL as its staff works with thousands of schools across the nation touching millions of students each year. They respond to incidents of bias and hate in those schools, but they also provide programming to counter antisemitism, bias and discrimination, including teaching more than 125,000 educators to teach to about the Holocaust. That is why this rise in antisemitism in K-12 schools truly hits home. In response, ADL has become much more involved in advocacy in that space post 10/7 - so much so that a few months ago, ADL established the Ronald Birnbaum Center to Combat Antisemitism in Education. Two weeks ago, in Boulder, Colorado, fifteen people were injured, including an 88-year-old Holocaust survivor, and the attacker had 16 more Molotov cocktails ready to throw. The perpetrator spent a year planning to target peaceful Jewish community members showing solidarity with Israeli hostages.This is the second violent attack on the U.S. Jewish community in just two weeks, and it follows closely on the heels of the torching of Governor Shapiro’s home in Pennsylvania during Passover because of his support for Israel. Since January 2020, ADL's Center on Extremism has documented 16 terrorist plots or attacks targeting Jews, with nine of those incidents occurring within just the past 12 months. We are living through what we can only describe as an unprecedentedly high threat environment.Susan Rona joined the podcast to discuss this attack and offer an insider look at what happened that day and what has been the aftermath. This is especially true post 10/7. Others feel that the threat from the right is what the Jewish people need to worry about. Indeed, the Jewish Voter Resource Center released the results of a survey just a few days ago which found that nearly half of Jewish voters said right-wing individuals and groups were a bigger threat in terms of antisemitism, while 34% viewed left-wing groups as a bigger problem. Clearly a big divide. A few weeks ago, ADL New York/New Jersey held a webinar which focused on just this issue by hosting a webinar entitled, “Is Antisemitism Worse on the Right or the Left?” The host for this podcast, Scott Richman, interviewed Oren Segal about his thoughts on this issue. Oren is the Senior Vice President for Counter Extremism and Intelligence. At ADL, we talk a lot about how data drives policy. It gives us what we need to approach elected officials, university presidents, community leaders and so many others to say, we have a problem with antisemitism, and here is the proof. Please act.This podcast has focused much attention on the Audit of antisemitic incidents and the survey of antisemitic attitudes which are ADL’s primary vehicles for presenting data on the state of antisemitism in the US. However, ADL is not just concerned about antisemitism in this country. It is a worldwide problem, and we need worldwide data. It has many elements to it, but overall, it focuses on two strategic goals. The first is to empower and provide resources for students, families, alumni and other stakeholders to ensure that campuses are welcoming places. After a long battle, many social media companies have finally agreed to ban this form of hate from their sites. But, how well are they managing to keep Holocaust denial from polluting their pages? That is the subject of this show. It was a heinous attack against the black community which left 10 people dead and a community in mourning. A few hours later, this show's host flew to Buffalo, first and foremost to show his solidarity - and ADL’s - with the black community, but also to be a resource to law enforcement and to others. One of the first people that he met on the site of the attack was Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown.
