That's a wrap for 2021 and the first season of the pod! Thank you to everyone that has tuned in across the year to listen to our ramblings. It's been a pleasure to discuss trials and tribulations of the Carlton Football Club and we'll be back in 2022 (hopefully with a few more brain cells and a few more wins!)
Join us in the Podcast Season Finale as we look back on some of our favourite pod moments from 2021, as well as discuss recent offseason Blues News, including Liam Jones' retirement.
PLUS, @PommyInOz joins us in the second half to wrap the 2021 AFL Draft and offer us his knowledge and insight into the Draft's sliders and bolters, as well as his thought on Carlton's recruitment of Jesse Motlop and Dom Akuei.
See you in 2022!
What an episode this is, not just for Carlton fans but all football and sports fans alike. We had an absolute blast as a podcast favourite, Australian football (the roundball) superstar and Carlton tragic Matt Foschini joined to discuss the Blues tumultuous 2021 Season and review last week's John Nicholls Medal count. We were treated to a double dose of "Fish" in the second half of the episode as we were joined by Matt's dad and a true AFL trailblazer - Silvio Foschini. A 107 game career and bagging 166 goals (averaging more per game than the great Maurice Rioli even!), Silvio gives us all an insight into his inspiring story; growing up Australian-Italian playing footy over soccer, living his dream playing at the elite level between 1981-88, and blazing a trail for generations of footballers to come by ultimately shaping what we now know as Trade & Free Agency well ahead of its days.
Family, life, football.
This cannot be missed.
George Hewett, Adam Cerra, Lewis Young, SPS, Coaching Team finalised... what a week for the Baggers, and we're covering all of it! We're joined by Jono Baruch from The Inner Sanctum this week as we dissect a huge trade period for Carlton, celebrate #DoingItForDoc, reviewing the revamped Coaching lineup and discuss Jono's Bluebagger journey and work with The Inner Sanctum. All that and more on a jam packed ep! Big shout out to Jules in this one - 3 hours sleep and hungover asfffffffff!
Jules woke up 2 minutes before this recording started thanks to daylight savings and time zone differences to Spain... there was almost no podcast this week! It's the OG (A)BB Three this week discussing all things Blues News - including some important contract re-signings and the appointment of Aaron Hamill as Carlton's new Defensive Coach - as well as giving a full Trade Week Preview run-down. We celebrate our first free agent signing in 2021 of George Hewett, weigh-up the future of SPS as a Carlton player and argue about what will get the Adam Cerra deal done. Let's get into it!
It's a bit of Carlton Show meets (A)BB in this one as we're joined by @thepumper5 himself - Paul Barbazza! There's so much covered in this we don't know where to begin: a review of Melbourne's triumphant 57-year drought-breaking Grand Final win, paying tribute and respects to "Big Jack", getting Bazz's thoughts on Carlton's 2021 season and looking ahead, the appointment of Michael Voss as Head Coach of the Carlton Football Club, and Joe's ankle-twisting attempt of "The Petracca" at Vic Park! Huuuuuge ep, let's get into it!
Lot's to discuss on this week's episode of the Blue Abroad Show.

Comparison to Melbourne
and more
It's a grand old episode as Caden MacDonald - Youtube sensation and Dees fanatic - joins us on the pod! Joe, Jules and Dan breakdown the Brownlow (mostly Sam Walsh though) and chat all things Blues news including the Brian Cook appointment (Blues are back!), player contract re-signings and the potential Voss head coach appointment. Caden joins us in the second half as we discuss what it's like in the lead up to the Grand Final as a Dees fan in 2021, breakdown key matchups and dissect where the 2021 Grand Final will be won and lost.
NOTE: Joe and Dan had their first ever actual argument before this one... the mood was a bit flat to kick things off to say the least... spicy!

Join us as we review Week 2 of the AFL Finals Series, get Terry's thoughts on Carlton 2021 season and chat all things Blues News. Does anyone know any adult computer classes for Dan The Dinosaur?

A big year for our number 7 as he completes his first full pre season in years. Hopefully he can break into the side and be a regular for us moving forward.
Last week we heard Wayne Schwass talked about how manning up now means to put your hand up.
The narrative has changed. We have a bigger platform to distribute our thoughts and feelings towards one another.
In the context of footy, we all analyse and project our views about players, administrators and other fans.
We're in the early phases of understanding how much impact we actually have with these words.
With a big enough sample size we now understand how much words can affect varying individuals.
At some point we are going to need to stop blaming others and start taking accountability for ourselves.
The message from this is one that will hopefully allow you to feel comfort in reaching out to do the following:
Take a moment to audit how you feel about yourself
Reach out to your inner circle and allow yourself to be vulnerable
Evolve to be the next best version of yourself
Don't wait until #WorldMentalHealthDay - let's talk today π

Big game against a Port Adelaide side that were very impressive in round 1.Β
Here's my preview
We're back!
It's been a long off season but I'm super pumped to see how much work the boys have put in.Β
Tough ask with Richmond first up but I'm confident the boys will put in a good effort.
A little sunburn didn't stop me from enjoying our last hitout before season 2019 commences.
It was a great day and irrespective of the result, I left feeling like we are well prepared for a season of improvement.
What did you think about the game?
For all your legal needs, email stephen@massociates.com.au
This is simply a must listen.Β I've been lucky enough to meet some passionate Carlton supporters in my time abroad - and some of their stories are incredible. Looking forward to you all meeting them.

Here's an interview I did with Markos Kern from Fun with Balls after his award winning presentation at the 2019 SPOBIS conference.
Don't forget to subscribe!
It was a frustrating year for Jack as he seemed to battled with himself more so than anything else.
The reality is, nothing is linear. Progress comes in ebbs and flows - so for Jack it is all about staying resilient, working hard and eventually finding the breakthrough.
Let's remember a very important factor - he's still only 21 years old!
He is a hard worker and has shown glimpses of the "footy brain" so his focus in 2019 is really coming into his own and playing at a consistent level.
I can see him playing around 10 games in 2019 with the potential for more provided that he's able to make genuine impact.
What do you think?
VERY excited to have Sam at our club.
It's hard to keep a lid on the excitement that surrounds the 2018 number 1 pick, especially when our coach and best players are talking about how special this guy has been throughout the pre season.
Nevertheless, we do need to keep things in perspective and understand that the next few years are a transition period as Sam adjusts to the rigours of a full time professional athlete.
I think he will have an impact in 2019 and hopefully his body lasts the test of time.
What are you excited about Sam play in 2019?
2018 saw Zac Fisher lay the foundation of what could genuinely be a breakout season in 2019.
He exceeded my expectations with his ability to win the ball in congestion and use of his creativity.Β
I can only imagine that living with Crippa would have his off-field habits at an elite level and the bond that the two of them share is definitely evident.
I'm really excited to see the growth in Zac this season and I would have no hesitation in backing him to play every game and average over 20 disposals.
What about you - what is his ceiling this year?
Not much else can be said about our 307 game club champion.Β
We should be very grateful to have such a person within the confines of our club, someone who our younger players can look at with a serious amount of inspiration.
There were moments in 2018 where he might have seemed to be slowing down but he responded as he always does, finishins the season with a 26 disposal average.Β
A lot of what we do this year will be defined by our approach to the game and therefore my only expectation of Simmo is that he continues to lead by example, put the club first and help fast track our development.
It will be a sad day when he is no longer lining up in the navy blue.
What do you expect from Simmo in 2019?
Very excited to welcome Mitch to the club after 4 years at the Crows, including plenty of valuable experience in big games.
The back injury is a horrible way for him to begin his Carlton chapter but he will hopefully be on track for a round 1 debut.
The attention that he will attract will undoubtedly help the development of Charlie and Harry - which I believe will be the greatest value that Mitch will provide to the group.
If he were to play as a permanent forward, I believe he's capable of a 40 goal season but I'm yet to be convinced that this will be his role for the entire year.
Ultimately he's a much needed bigger body who is buzzing to be a part of our great club and I'm very excited to see the Governor take flight.
What do you think?
I was pleasantly surprised with how many games Lochie was able to play in 2018.
The experience he gained will be worth it's weight in gold over the next important years of his development as we look to fast-track our young crop to 100 games and beyond.
The lightly framed midfielder showed his ability to win the ball in space and that will be vital for our offensive spread in 2019.
He looks set to line up in round 1 and with that, he puts himself in the best position to keep that spot for the entire year.
Anything close to 20 possessions a game would be a great return for Lochie and along with Paddy Dow, adding a layer of running power to his game.
What do you think?
13 games in yet another injury-plagued season for the former skipper.
With the captaincy (and extra scrutiny) relinquished, I can truly see Murph having a great year for the club.
Our extra layer of midfield depth will hopefully allow for a more suitable role whereby he should find himself in positions to utilise his running power and skill by foot.
I'm excited to have the former AFL MVP back at full fitness and enjoying his footy again.
His decision to stay at the club and set the example for our younger players with respect to staying loyal in the ever-growing free market model is something that should be appreciated by all of our supporters.
What do you expect from Murph in 2019?
22 games from "the Cowboy" in 2018 was a great effort.
He's a player that seems to play in bursts and we'll be looking to a much more consistent player this season.
Keeping in mind he is still only 20 years of age, there is plenty of time for Samo to achieve his potential.
What kind of impact do you think he will have in 2019?
After another injury interrupted season, we are hoping that Kreuze can have a clean run of health.
Unfortunately it was announced today that he would be undergoing a knee procedure that will keep him out of action for approximately 4 weeks, in what is yet another setback.
It's hard to put expectations on the big man. We know how important he is to our club as a player and person.
For me it's just about getting him healthy and as close to 100% as possible.
What do you think?
Entering his 4th season, Jacob has endured plenty of tough lessons with his AFL career.
I think this is the year he starts to put it all together and find his place in the league.
What do you think?
The Fev will always remain in our hearts.Β
What were your favourite memories of the legend?
Just over a month away from the second instalment of AFLX
