“Doesn’t God want me to be happy?” Virtually everyone has asked this question at some point. And the answer is...yes! But God’s plan for our fulfillment looks way different than anything we would expect. Join us for a journey through some of the most famous passages of Scripture––the Beatitudes and the fruit of the Spirit––for the key to unlocking God’s definition of true happiness.
Over the last four weeks, we've been pressing into the season of Eastertide by looking at what the heart of Sabbath is through meditations on Psalm 23 and by hearing stories of how people in our Westside community are practicing sabbath.
Jesus is the blueprint for what life to the full can look like, and part of that fullness comes through implementing rhythms of Sabbath type rest into our lives.
As we wrap up our Sabbath series, we pause mid-week to meditate on the truth of God’s Scripture in Psalm 23, where our good shepherd declares rest for our soul. We invite you to slow down to the pace of God, come back home to his presence, and say yes to the invitation to enter into His rest.
Over the last couple of weeks, we've been pressing into the season of Eastertide by looking at what the heart of Sabbath is through meditations on Psalm 23 and by hearing stories of how people in our Westside community are practicing sabbath.
Jesus is the blueprint for what life to the full can look like, and part of that fullness comes through implementing rhythms of Sabbath type rest into our lives.
This morning, we are going to be meditating on the truth of God’s Scripture in Psalm 23 v5 where our Good Shepherd declares rest for our soul. In this week’s Sabbath meditation, we pause mid-week to slow ourselves down to the pace of God, come back home to His presence, and say yes to the invitation to enter into His rest.
Jesus is the blueprint for what life to the full can look like, and part of that fullness comes through implementing rhythms of Sabbath type rest into our lives.
Last week we started looking at what the heart of Sabbath is through meditations on Psalm 23 and by hearing stories of how people in our Westside community are practicing sabbath.
For today's meditation, we create space to consider how God’s personal presence is the power to overcome our deepest fears.
This season in Christian Church liturgy is historically referred to as Eastertide.
The way Westside has chosen to engage with this Spiritual Life rhythm is to step into the invitation of rest that God established in the person and work of Christ. We see in Scriptures that Jesus is the reason we can have rest for our soul (Matt 11) and that a Sabbath rest for the people of God is on offer (Heb 4).
Jesus is the blueprint for what life to the full can look like, and part of that fullness comes through implementing rhythms of Sabbath type rest into our lives.
Over the next four weeks, we invite you to join us in looking at what the heart of Sabbath is through meditations on Psalm 23 and by hearing stories of how people in our Westside community are practicing sabbath.
In this week’s Sabbath meditation, we pause mid-week to slow ourselves down to the pace of God, come back home to his presence, and say yes to the invitation to enter into His rest.
In this special episode of the Westside: A Jesus Church Podcast, Crooksy guides a moment of saturation in the Story of God, focusing on Psalm 118.
Waiting is surely one of our species’ least favorite things to do, but the Story of God has more than its fair share of waiting.
In this special episode of the Westside: A Jesus Church Podcast, Crooksy guides a moment of saturation in the Story of God, focusing on the fall of humanity through Psalm 103.
Our shortcomings and failings are never our favorite subject to talk about. But sin is a reality of human existence. We respond to sin in a variety of ways, depending on our personality and how we process hurt, anger, disappointment, and shame. Psalm 103 reveals the exact God that we need, in this episode, Crooksy guides us through how God responds to sinful humanity and how we can relate to Him in light of who He is.
In this special episode of the Westside: A Jesus Church Podcast, Crooksy guides a moment of saturation in the Story of God, focusing on creation through Psalm 8.
By paying attention to how the Holy Spirit speaks to us as we read the Bible, we can see how God is guiding us and helping us to build out an accurate picture of who He is, what He is about, and how we fit into His story. Psalm 8 builds on the creation narrative in Genesis 1 and 2, but showing a human interaction with the story. In this episode, Crooksy guides an active reading of the Bible to help with meditation and investigation using the model David provides in Psalm 8.
Dom concludes our series where we've looked at seven virtues that help inform a called life.
Today he looks at arguably the most important virtue, the one that informs all others- love, and invites us to embrace our ultimate calling as disciples of Jesus, to love.
Dom continues our series on calling, this week focusing on taking steps of faith.
There is a point when the dreams and desires in our lives, the thing God is calling us into, is more important than the fears standing in its way. At some point, we have to jump out of the plane, go out into deeper waters, and see what goodness is there when we take that first step.

Dom continues our series on calling, this week focusing on perseverance.
Oftentimes, the major reason callings die- why vision dies- is because we give up, we throw in the towel, we get discouraged, and walk away. In a passage that's all about calling, it's no surprise Peter talks about endurance.
In the sixth week of our series on calling, Dom steps into the tension that while we all long to flourish, to live whole, holy, integrated lives- the reality is, there is a side of us that wars against that. The good news, however, is that God’s intent is not to reject the shattered pieces of our hearts, but to reclaim them.
Today, Dom talks about how a vital component to determining our central calling is through cultivating goodness in the deep places of our hearts. But how do we do that? The key may surprise you.
Dom continues in our series "The Story You Were Made For." Today he focuses on our central call as disciples of Jesus.
Dom is back to continue in our series "The Story You Were Made For." Today he talks about how to discern calling, revealing that the secret to finding out is found in our flourishing.
Hear the Cry & Evangelism Pastor Weston Brock continues the theme Bryan Fowler shared last week on Jesus’ Kingship. Today he shares what Jesus enthroned means for us– that we are created and called to partner with Him in seizing the raw potential of the world to produce and cultivate shalom (peace), here on earth.
Bryan Fowler gives an encouraging message on what ought to motivate our worship- Jesus is seated glorious and victoriously on the throne.
Dom continues our new series by laying out a Theology of Calling centered around three Hebrew words; Shalom, Ashré and Tamim. As we surrender our lives to God He blesses us, making us whole and holy so we can reflect His character and bring His peace to the world.
Dom kicks off a new series focused on calling and discerning God’s will for your life. We are handed two scripts; one that says life has no meaning, it’s all an accident. Jesus’ script says life does have meaning; God has given us purpose and a hope for our future. He saved us by grace for good works so we can live out our purpose.
Executive Pastor, Tim McDonald, shares a message of hope from Romans 15 v13. We look to God as the source of our hoe and the anticipated object of our hope; a hope that is fixated on the reality that Jesus is coming back. Our prayer is that God fills us with hope, joy, and peace as we trust in Him so that we can be people who bring hope, joy, and peace to others.

To us, a child is born. To us, a son is given. Dom shares from Isaiah 9 and reminds us of the Good News of Jesus, God himself breaking into the human story and light entering the darkness. We have hope in this God, who came into our world, to rescue, redeem, and heal.
Welcome to Tuesday morning worship and meditation where we open ourselves up to the love of God and the leading of His Holy Spirit.
Join us today as we remember the anticipation of Jesus’ birth and reflect on joy in Mary’s story as she chooses to trust God’s promise and rejoice. Our joy is not a feeling based on our present circumstances but a hopeful attitude, one that we choose because of our hope in God’s love and promises.
Hakeem and Bryan conclude our series on community, talking about healthy conflict. They unpack Acts 15 where the early church goes through two contrasting episodes of conflict.

Welcome to Tuesday Worship & Meditations where we create space to pause and open ourselves up to the love of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Join us today as we remember and rest in the reality that love is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. This means that it’s not our own strength or striving that empowers us to receive and give love, it’s living life aware of and dependent upon Him.
Keithen Schwahn continues our series in community, a place to belong. As a family of missionary disciples in community, we partner with God on His mission. God is on mission to redeem, heal, and restore the world. We want to be communities on mission, seeking to partner with God to love our neighbors, be a blessing to our city and invite others to know Jesus. Welcome to Tuesday Worship & Meditations where we create space to pause and open ourselves up to the love of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit.
In a world where chaos, destruction, and disorder are the norm, Jesus invites us to push back against the chaos and enter into His peace. This peace is not found merely in the absence of chaos but through the presence of the person of Jesus. As we continue on in our advent season, our invitation to you is to allow the peace of Christ to dwell in you richly, as you meditate on the person and work of our prince of peace.
Weston and Jenny Brock continue our series in community, a place to belong. Basing their discussion in Acts 2, they reflect on community in their own lives and in that of the early church who shared things in common, ate meals together, and were aware of the needs of others in their community. Then and now, Jesus centered community is a place to be treated as family and to treat others as family.

Welcome to Tuesday Worship & Meditations where we create space to pause and open ourselves up to the love of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Join us today as we meditate on the hope of Christ.
In a season where It’s easy for our to-do lists and full calendars to sit in the driver's seat of life, showing up to this space to worship+meditate is like our act of resistance where we slow down and turn down the noise of life so that we can encounter God.
Greg Wright continues our series in community. Greg points to the early church in Acts chapter 2 and highlights their core practices of teaching, prayer, communion, and fellowship. Using this example, he unpacks how being in a biblical community is vitally important to our growth as disciples as we need others to walk with us, work with us and watch out for us. Bryan Fowler kicks off our new series, Community: A Place to Belong. Community was God’s idea from the beginning. We see God’s heart for community in the Trinity, creation, and in the early church. To follow Jesus is to balance a close personal relationship with Jesus and fellowship in community with other Jesus followers. A close-knit community is a place to know, be known, and participate. Welcome to Tuesday Worship & Meditations where we create space to pause and open ourselves up to the love of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Today we are invited to open our eyes to see God. He is here. Moving, working, creating, making all things new. As we see him, we are transformed, and our hearts are moved to worship with everything we are.
Dom wraps up our series in Philippians, calling us to be a people who choose generosity. We serve a generous God who loves us and, in His generosity, gave us His son. As we grow closer to Him, we are called to grow in generosity with our whole lives as mission, sacrifice, and worship.

Welcome to Tuesday Worship & Meditations where we create space to pause and open ourselves up to the love of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Today, we examine our hearts and ask God the question “What is Your heart for justice?”
As we welcome in the truth of God’s word, we see that He desires something entirely holistic from us as a worshipping community. For a Jesus follower, our act of worship accounts for our whole life, both publicly and privately. As we search the scriptures, we see that God repeatedly calls His people to worship with more than just a song or a melody, but with a life of justice, mercy, and righteousness. Tune in for Worship & Meditation every Tuesday via the Westside: AJC Podcast, YouTube, Facebook, or here on Instagram.
Dom continues our series in Philippians. In suffering and hard times, Paul learns the secret of being content; he finds that Jesus is enough. We live in a culture that fuels discontentment and tells us lies that contentment is found in our experiences, and our possessions. But in this passage, Paul talks about contentment rooted in Jesus and radical dependence on Him. So how do we learn the secret of being content? We practice gratitude, find God in the hard times, and fix our eyes on Jesus, the source of our contentment.

We’re excited to share with you our newly refreshed Tuesday Worship & Meditations where we create space to pause and open ourselves up to the love of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Join us today as we create space to be with the kind of strength that can only be found in Jesus. Weakness and limitation are often hard realities for us to accept, but scripture tells the story of the possibilities and the unique opportunities that weakness holds out in front of us when we are willing to turn toward Jesus.

Hakeem Bradley, our Young Adults Director, continues our series in Philippians chapter four, where Paul encourages the Philippians to replace worry and anxiety with prayer and thanksgiving. Rather than letting anxiety take over, Hakeem encourages us to use it as a prompt to pray - to lay it all down at the feet of Jesus, the prince of peace. The Lord is near. He wants to guard our hearts and minds and liberate us from the rulership of anxiety because it doesn’t have lordship in our lives; He does.

Dom continues our series in Philippians as Paul urges, “Let your gentleness be evident to all.’ Gentleness is strength under control, as we harness our strength for the good of others with grace and compassion. Jesus is the ultimate example of this as the good shepherd who gently leads His people in power and gentleness. Dom encourages us to pursue gentleness with our minds, our words, and our actions. We are the bride of Christ, called to clothe ourselves in gentleness to show Jesus to a broken world.

Dom returns to our series in Philippians, where Paul addresses a very tense situation in the church and demonstrates how we can pursue peace and reconciliation. Weston Brock, our Pastor of Hear the Cry Global, shares the biblical origin of the name 'Hear the Cry' and highlights God's heart for compassion and justice in the scriptures. Leading us through Exodus 3 v7-10, Weston points to a God who sees, hears, cares, saves, and gives good gifts. These are characteristics of God that we, as followers of Jesus, can put our hope and trust in. But more than that, God wants to use us to be part of carrying out His compassion and justice in this world. As the church, we are to move and mobilize, step in to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our communities. Tim shares with us from 2 Peter 1, where Peter encourages us that Jesus has given us absolutely everything we need to walk the life He has called us to. As we saturate ourselves in the scriptures, we grow in knowledge and intimacy with Him. The scriptures are filled with promises that we can stand on, promises and truths about who God is and who He has made us to be. Through them, we can partner with God and participate in His nature. Our call is to make every effort to add to our faith and nurture it to grow and bear much fruit. Tim leads us in a prayer time, reflecting on how we love Jesus, learn the way of Jesus, and live the way of Jesus.

Hakeem continues our series in Philippians as Paul encourages the Philippians to stand firm in the Lord. We are to stand firm as citizens of heaven, God's soldiers, positioned for God in our spaces in our city.

We all have a story of citizenship, but first and foremost, as followers of Jesus, we are a citizen of heaven. Continuing our series in Philippians, Dom outlines what it means to be a citizen of heaven; to have a new identity, a new calling, and a new politic. We are a new humanity, fellow citizens, being built together as the church to embody the vision, values, and culture of heaven. Being a citizen of the kingdom means our primary allegiance is to the King, and we strive to reflect the heart of the King, the heart of Jesus that beats for the whole world, not just one political party. We are a colony of heaven on earth, called to represent Jesus and be His hands and feet in our communities.

Continuing our series in Philippians, Dom looks at how Paul cultivated friendship. Authentic, raw, vulnerable friendship requires commitment, love, availability, and grace. We were made for relationship, for friendship, both with the people in our lives and with God. Have you personally developed a friendship with God? As followers of Jesus, we are invited into this close and intimate relationship with God. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends with God Romans 5 v11 Join us live every Sunday for our online gatherings by visiting westsideajc.org/online 8AM | 10AM | 12PM | 6PM
Dom continues our series in Philippians. As cynicism and bitterness are on the rise in our culture, how do we, as followers of Jesus, write a different story? How do we practice love in a time when many are tearing each other apart? We choose to be an encourager. We choose to use words to speak life, build each other up, and bring healing.

Hakeem Bradley continues our series in Philippians. As the church, we are family, committed and connected to each other, and we are made holy as a family. Becoming like Jesus does not happen in isolation; it happens in community. We all affect each other’s paths and help each other become more like Jesus. Through differences and disagreements, we are united in a family by Jesus. We are to be sanctified together, working this out through prayer, humility and love for one another.

Bryan Fowler, our men’s pastor, continues our series in Philippians, asking the question; In this historical moment, how are we going to stay united? As we strive to maintain unity amid adversity when we don’t always agree with each other, we learn from the example of Jesus. We need a Jesus mind that lays aside our position of power, steps into the pain of others, and serves others. Reconciliation will be costly and uncomfortable, but Bryan encourages us to step into this historical moment with the Jesus mind and obey the call to unity.

God’s heart for us is that we progress, mature, and step into the new things He has for us; new perspective, new growth, new habits.
As followers of Jesus, we are free of our past to step forward into the new that God has for us.

What does it look like for us to be a people that love Jesus and then love our city well? How do we step into that, bringing not just the hands and feet of Jesus but the actual message and gospel of Jesus to a city that needs Him, His transformative power, and His life? Executive Pastor Tim McDonald helps to answer that question by walking us through Titus 2 v11 – 14. With brothers and sisters. The Church is a new humanity."

The man's parents– only willing to give partial allegiance? Or the man– ready to say "Any time. Any place. Any Cost. I will follow."
