When we're about to pursue a change in our lives, whether it's in our career, in a new relationship or even within ourselves, we need to make sure we're bringing the best versions of ourselves with us. That requires confidence, a tricky word that many people yearn for but few know what it really means to have "confidence". Is confidence how you speak about yourself? How you walk into a room? How you ask a question? How you take on a challenge? Is it all of the above.
This week, we have my old boss, Josh Clark, a creative director who shares his personal insight on a topic I believe he's an expert at, having confidence. His tips help you find confidence in your self, in a relationship and in your career. He shares the necessity to put yourself out there and handle rejection, believe in your ideas and don't be scared of things.
Josh agrees what I always thought: he views life as one big game, which means sometimes it's OK to be a rule breaker.

I will never understand the pain and suffering that the Black community is feeling right now and has felt for hundreds of years. But I do believe that Black Lives Matter and I won’t stay silent. I’ve been looking within, listening and taking action. To my Black friends and friends of color: I’m here for you. I will continue to check myself & educate myself, and do the work to check those around me. I won’t stop. Your pain matters, your voice matters, your life matters. This isn’t an empty promise. I’m taking the hours I spend mindlessly on social media and using that time this week to educate myself, listen to the teachings of those in the Black community, and take action both locally and through the donations I’ll make to organizations all over the country.
Change starts within each of us. It starts with taking steps. With putting action behind our words. I will take action. I will support. I will fight for the Black community.
Here is one resource to help fuel conversations, change and action: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PrAq4iBNb4nVIcTsLcNlW8zjaQXBLkWayL8EaPlh0bc/preview?fbclid=IwAR3Kwelc7kmKHSuQC7FSbNmxUyZL1aaIbenksVuFGHqOTrHJYug9vcB3xgU&pru=AAABcqN0HDM*EwbCp-1ACPm1MtML05C1TA

Stop worrying about goals. Worry about your WHY. As you start a new week, one that still feels all kinds of odd for most of us right now, have goals. Have things you want to make sure you check off your life’s to-do list. Even if it’s small things like remembering to call a friend or to clean out your fridge. Even if it’s big scary things like emailing someone you’ve wanted to reach out to or recording episode one of your podcast. But goals mean nothing. Goals are words on paper unless we back then with a strong WHY. So ask yourself this: why do you care about that goal? Why, why, why? When you know the heartbeat behind what you’re going after, it feels impossible to not run toward it with all of your night & courage.
