Welcome to Legends of the New Republic! We're a Star Wars book club podcast reading through Legends novels starting just after Return of the Jedi. Each week we get through a handful of chapters of a book and discuss what we like and anything interesting that we uncover. We also end up on rabbit trails... a lot.
If you like Star Wars and want to revisit the Star Wars That Came Before then Legends of the New Republic is the podcast for you. On the other hand, if you've never heard of Legends or read any of the old canon Star Wars novels, neither has Jay, so you'll be in good hands.
We're a podcast that celebrates inclusivity and positivity in the Star Wars fandom. We've made it our mission to enjoy and poke gentle fun at the strange peaks and troughs of Star Wars Legends but we prefer to focus on the fun and interesting rather than denigrate the authors of any work of fiction. Writing a book, even a sub-par book is still an accomplishment and we're here as fans, not as critics.
This week sees Boba Fett enter the web of The Assembler and features an audiobook recommendation from our very own Jason!
We flash back to the past both in today's chapter and in the present as Jay takes her turn to vent about Chapter 3 being entirely absent from the audiobook version
We meet a man with a cat, three names and yet still just one, and we meet our first Twi'lek this week!

This week Kat leads the crew as David was MIA. Will we manage to get through Chapter 13? And more importantly will they successfully cast their Han Solo western movie?

We manage to get through an entire chapter this week despite numerous rabbit trails! Editor's note: "Jizz music" is a real thing in Star Wars Legends and has nothing to do with the current slang use of that word. Apparently the editors of the book it was first mentioned in were made aware of the slang meaning but for some reason didn't make the author change it and as a result we're all stuck with it existing.
We delve into Chapter 8 of Truce at Bakura by Kathy Tyers and end up discussing everything from Midichlorians to Luke "Twink" Skywalker. Enjoy!
