Unmasked: Shades of Women During Covid 19 is where Limerick women share their experiences of life during a pandemic through short stories.
The journey to the podcast started in July 2020 when Limerick Women’s Network joined with Creative Writing Specialist, Sheila Quealey, to facilitate a group of women to explore and write about their experiences during COVIS-19. This process took place over a five-month period, meeting each week for two hours on Zoom. The sessions resulted in raw, honest and inspiring stories told by courageous women, who were willing to impart them to the big wide world. The stories cover serious and real life issues such as: addiction, domestic violence, self-harm and suicide.

Women do best when they have someone to talk to. This doesn’t always have to be about the big stuff in life but the relief of sharing your thoughts with another women always eases the pressure. When lockdown happened in March 2020 that outlet was suddenly whipped away. We could no longer go for a walk together or grab a cup of coffee or even go for lunch that someone else prepared. That vital connection was severed, and we had to find a way to reconnect and quickly. The Limerick Women's Network project, now dubbed as Unmasked: Shades of Women During COVID-19, came at exactly the right time.
Once these stories are released out into the world the authors lose control over them. And that is the biggest step of all for these eight courageous women.
Treat them with care, won’t you?
