We’re excited to announce the publication of a Special Edition of New Bern’s Ledger Magazine. This one is unlike no other!
The Interactive Edition is available now, view it here.
With so many people suffering in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, we wanted to highlight people, organizations, and business who have stepped up and displayed countless acts of kindness. We wish we could recognize everyone, but it’s literally impossible as so many people were involved and the road to recovery continues. For now, it’s a glimpse into our community coming together to help others.
Since the feature story is about New Bern being “Stronger Together”, the cover photo was taken at MERCI on Middle as 750 people gathered together to support MERCI Clinic.
Read other feature articles and our regular stories to include Arts, History, Outdoor Adventures, Indoor Recreation, Shopping, Dining, Calendar of Events, Community Notes, and much more!

Lisa Bisbee-Lentz and I had the honor of interviewing the Legendary Livingston Taylor about his life, passions, and upcoming concert in New Bern, NC on April 12, 2018.
If you didn’t know, Isaac Taylor is Livingston’s great, great, great grandfather and we did the interview from inside the Isaac Taylor House, which Lisa and her husband, Mike Lentz own.
Livingston wears many hats. He’s a songwriter, singer, storyteller, professor, and during the interview, we found out that he’s a pilot as he was doing maintenance of his Cessna when we called.
During the interview, Livingston told us that he’s been to New Bern several times over the years and he’s very excited to be coming back.
We’re looking forward to seeing Livingston perform on April 12th at 7 p.m. at the New Bern Riverfront Convention!
Special thank you goes out to The New Bern Historical Society as they’ve worked very hard preparing for their annual fundraising concert which will also feature Lewis n Clark!
Limited tickets are available at all levels, at the New Bern Historical Society office at 511 Broad St., by phone at 252-638-8558 or online at NewBernHistorical.org/tickets. General tickets are $38 plus tax and $58 plus tax for preferred seating. Students with ID up to age 26 are $28 plus tax. VIP seating and sponsorships are available that include seating in the front, center section and a champagne reception at the Isaac Taylor House.
Learn more about Livingston Taylor by visiting his website: LivingstonTaylor.com.

The Tryon Civitan Club in conjunction with the UPS Store is having its 7th annual sugar drive to benefit the Religious Community Services (RCS). For the past several years, they’ve done this drive in June, but since RCS has such a high demand over the summer months, they’ve decided to move it up a month to May.
Kids are out of school during the Summer and drink cool aid or iced tea and families using sugar from RCS’s food pantry for recipes.
If you don’t want to give sugar, they will take any kind of non-perishable food items to help families in need. From peanut butter and jelly, SpaghettiO’s and all sorts of things that RCS can use in their food pantry.
You can also make a financial contribution by dropping off a check payable to Religious Community Services at the UPS Store.
Make a difference by dropping off sugar or non-perishable food items at the UPS Store at 1822 S. Glenburnie Rd. 252-637-7500.
