We get into a lot of good conversations about everything from the writing process to life in general. Writing music is fascinating in the way it allows for everyone to approach it in a personal fashion. To me what makes music truly great is when you're able to take your personal approach and relate it to as many people as possible. I think Nathan is on the path to doing just that with this album.

This episode we are trying a new segment! A Cypher Segment. We tested out our own version of one, with Kid Kulture while my co-host for this segment, DJ Dro Jack, spins some beats by Devy Kay! I'm pretty pumped with how it turned out, so It's going to be a recurring segment from now on!

They came together with The Committee to get a space to replace their previous DIY Skate spot, that had to be demolished with the removol of the westinghouse buildings this past year.

This week we have Ryan Citrino - Nick Bottom and Leah Gesouras - Beatrice Bottom (Nick's Wife), two members from the cast of Something Rotten! The next great production being performed at Mansfield's own legendary Renaissance Theatre!
Something Rotten! Opened on broadway in 2015 and was nominated for 10 Tony-awards. It's been described as if "Mel Brooks wrote Hamilton"
The Story: Something Rotten takes place in 1595 London, England. The Bottom brothers, Nick and Nigel are trying to find success by writing plays, but are outshined by the rock-star playwright of the Renaissance, William Shakespeare. Desperate to find success Nick gets help from a soothsayer for the next big hit when he prophesies a musical. The Bottom brothers get to work creating the first musical, complete with song and dance.
I had a blast chatting with Ryan and Leah! They have both had quite the fascinating life in theatre, with lots of incredibly colorful experiences along the way! This episode was a real treat for me because I know nothing about the musical play/theatre world. I got the chance to ask a lot of questions that I've always wanted to inquire about that world. There are a lot of interesting similarities between the theatre world and the traditional band world that I exist in normally. As well as a lot of things that I had never considered that they have to think about on a regular basis while preparing for the roles that they will be preforming as.
It sounds to me that this musical will be right up my alley, heavy comedic emphasis with some tugging on your heart strings, down on their luck, under-dog character moments. I'm excited to go see it and I hope you all will too!
Musicals are cool, I don't care what you think. If you disagree you're wrong.

This week we have the incredibly talented and one of the most hard working musicians in Mansfield, Ricky Mitchell!
He has this new album coming out and guess what? We talk about it. And wouldn't you know it, the album is wonderful! To me it has this very distinct nostalgic early 2000's alternative rock/pop feel, with some country overtones. With lots of re-playability from the catchy melodies that bore their way into my brain after just one listen.
This is a very important album for Ricky, as it marks the begining of a new direction in life for him. Will this be a period in the sentance of his life leading up to this moment, or mearly a comma? Moving him on to the next stage of his musical career.
There is a ton of depth to this album, with enough introspection that will make even the most self unaware person pause and reflect on their own life.
Ricky is a joy to talk to and even more of a joy to listen to. Please be on the look out for when this album drops and for the album release show that we are planning for to be held at Relax It's Just Coffee

We are talking about skateboarding today!! It's a music adjascent and very important topic, so i thought would be good to spread the word about it on this podcast!
I had "The Committee," on today to talk about the work they are doing to get the city to help get them a permanant spot to start a skatepark in Mansfield. It would be such a massive addition to the betterment of our amazing city. A very positive sport that promotes good values such as perseverance and hard work. As well as lots of outside exercise and critical thinking skills. To me this is a no brainer option for the city to use and prtner with to promote positive activities in the community for the youth and adults alike!
We talk the loss of "The Slab," (RIP) their previous DIY skatepark they themselves had established on an un used, tore down section of the westinghouse sight. All of the positive things that came out of its existance and the pheonix like rise that will come from its ashes in the form of the new Liberty DIY skatepark that is in the works!
Love these dudes and the hard work and endless hours they have poured their heart into for this to begin to come to fruition.

This week was a special one for me. I had the pleasure of interviewing Octavio Más-Arocas, the music director for the Mansfield symphony Orchestra!
He was such a delightful person to interview. His immense passion for what he does draws you in and grips you. It compells you to want to understand what it is about his job that fuels the passion he displays.
There is so, so much that goes on behind the scenes for every single performance the mansfield symphony puts on that we really just begin to scratch beneath the surface with the time we had. We talk everything from his process of picking the music they play to the work that goes into tieing the theme and music into the performances that you see when they play.
This was probably my favorite interview so far and i know you'll enjoy it! Especially the tomato fight conversation...

Cover artists are fun for the simple fact that everyone likes to sing along to nostalgic songs from their past or current radio hits. So no shade being thrown here, but for me originals are what i get excited about. We talk all about that transition from cover artist to writing originals and preparing to put out those originals in this episode!

On this episode I had the pleasure of chatting with a relatively newer Mansfield local by the name of MIDDLING.
A three piece midwest skrams band that will take you by surprise with the mashup of pretty tapping styled guitars juxtapose harsh yelling vocals and heavy drivin drums.
A genre I wasn't personally aware of until I listened to their debut EP titled, "Successful Midwest Lifestyle," that came out May 31st. I am now a huge fan of this genre thanks to these three!
We had a wonderful time talking writing concepts and approaches, origins of the band, and how fun it is to travel with your friends to play music in other places that aren't your hometown!
Definitely not everyones cup of tea, but they are well worth checking out. Very Introspective and beautiful with a mix up to break that musical lull we all tend to find ourselves in when you've been listening to the same things over and over again.

This dude is doing some incredible stuff as of late for the Mansfield Music scene! We talk at length about the lighting rig that he has sunk money and an exorbant amount of time into just for the love and interest of! As I say many times in the episode, you really don't realize what you need in your life until it's there!
We also get into the concept of creating an imersive experiance that moves an audience in a direction emotionally through song set structure and live performance. As well as what he has been doing as of late in the area that truly tugs at his heart, Film and directing!
Lee has been a good friend of mine for a long time now and I greatly admire him for the work he does and his constant willingness to be vulnerable with every aspect of his art that he puts out.
This was such a fun and fascinating conversation! I hope it will inspire anyone who creates, to try to push yourself to the next level of thoughtful creation.

Aurelio writes his music under the moniker Chico's Brother. His poetically vibrant, lyrically driven songs, over top of autoharp rhythmic strums is definitely not your typical sound. But its stripped back simplicity and passionate transparency is powerfully beautiful. He puts so much care into everything he does, and I think it shines through in all of his music! Im very excited to hear the new music he is in the process of writing!
Aurelio has such a huge heart for Mansfield, and he is constantly pouring himself out for the betterment of the community itself. I' am very proud that I live in the 5th ward where he resides over as councilman.

This weeks episode we get an in depth look into the rapidly growing music scene/culture of EDM/DUB step music. Our guest Tesreflect, not only produces his own songs, but also performs them out live as a DJ. It was a massive pleasure having him on the show, not only for his vibrant song writing ability, but his extensive understanding of where this genre of music has stemmed from historically.
This episode was immensely refreshing to me. Talking to people about music can bring out an excitement from within that you don't usually see on the surface level in typical interactions. Tesreflect to me, genuinely is passionate about this genre of music, and I really feel it translates in this interview. The rich history and culture in this realm of music is one of welcoming hearts and open mindedness towards anyone that wants to just enjoy the euphoria of body thumping bass and upbeat head bobbing positivity. The culture is exploding and I look forward to hopefully seeing more of these kinds of shows in the future!
Tereflect also gave us our first live performance since I have taken over as host. He plays a couple of tracks off of his latest release and teases a new one in the works! Im very excited to see where his music takes him and for whats to come in the future!
