Teaching on "סכות/Sukkot" which means "Tabernacles" delivered on October 3, 2020.
Our portion this week is out of Leviticus 22:26-2:44, and begins, "And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying, 'When a bull or a sheep or a goat is born, it shall be seven days with its mother. And from the eighth day and thereafter it is acceptable as an offering made by fire to יהוה.'"
We don't have a regular Torah portion this week. Instead, we begin the week of Sukkot with a teaching on the Feast. Pastor Richard opens discussing that the text indicates a "public teaching" at the feasts of Hashem, as it is a corporate rehearsal for living with our creator. Pastor Richard points out that Hashem is preparing His bride, changing her from one who is selfish to one who is selfless, giving herself for His Kingdom's service. Pastor Richard shows us connections to the New Testament and Yeshua Messiah.
Next, Pastor Richard discusses the foliage commanded by scripture, and the connection to the human body, with the foliage representing our offering to Hashem. Pastor Richard also discusses Leviticus 23:41-42, the translation of which often indicates that the commandment is for "all native-born in Israel." Pastor Richard shows that at the deeper level, the Hebrew text reveals that it is also for those who have been naturalized - GRAFTED IN, in other words! Pastor Richard connects us to the Book of Ruth, bringing an additional witness from our sages as recording in the Midrash Rabbah. Pastor Richard ends the section and our daily Torah teaching with a connection to the leprous one, the final redemption, and Revelation 12:5-6.
Our Haftorah teaching is delivered by Brother Mark from Zechariah 14:1-21, and the New Covenant teaching is delivered by Brother Ted from Luke 2:1-20.

Rosh Hashana which means "Head of the Year" & Yom Teruah which means "Day of Trumpets" delivered on September 19, 2020.
Shana Tova Mishpacha! (Good Year, Family!)
Our teaching this week is not a regular Torah portion, but a special teaching in celebration of the first of the fall feasts, Rosh Hashana (Head of the Year) which is marked by blowing of shofars and trumpets, thus the additional name of Yom Teruah (Day of Trumpets).
Our reading is Genesis 21:1-34, and begins, "And יהוה visited Sarah as He had said, and יהוה did for Sarah as He had spoken."
Pastor Richard begins discussing the connection of Yom Teruah to 2 Peter 3:12, tying the celebration to "looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God." Pastor Richard also shows us why the day is called one of "remembrance," revealing the meanings from the Hebrew text in Leviticus 23, and connecting it with three additional scriptural references. Next, Pastor Richard shows the connection of the day to our reading in Genesis 21, with additional connections in Isaiah 62 and Jeremiah 9. In conclusion, Pastor Richard discusses the feast given by Abraham when Isaac was weaned to the feast of the marriage supper of Messiah and His bride.

"Sheni Shel Shavuot” teaching on the Shabbat before Shavuot, delivered on May 30, 2020.
The portion covers Deuteronomy 14:22-16:17 and begins, "You shall tithe without fail all the yield of your grain that the field brings forth year by year."
This Torah portion has been picked by the Rabbis as the service for Shavuot. Israel was a people who were farmers, they were shepherds, so the message is given through their professions.
Deuteronomy 14:22 talks about tithing (now) and in the future. What does it mean to tithe? What is the purpose of tithing? Pastor Richard teaches that giving that which is most important as a tithe is YOU! Giving your life to Hashem is a hard thing to do. The surrendering of our lives to the Alef Tav (Messiah) is our deeds, the fruit that we are producing.
Pastor Richard uses the parable in Matthew 13:26-30 (which tells of the wheat and the tares) as an example that we have been called to produce fruit. Good fruit equals good deeds which equals wheat. Bad fruit equals bad deeds which equals tares. The wheat and the tares look the same, but the deeds that are produced by the wheat are the deeds of the Torah. The field is the world and the harvest is when the Messiah returns. Pastor Richard teaches that zonin is a degenerate form of wheat. In Luke 10:2 why does it say that the laborers are few. Is it because of zonin?
Pastor Richard explains that we are to be echad (one) with His people. Clear your mind in order to absorb HIM. Examine your life to the Torah to remove our worldly teachings. Messiah purchased His people by being pierced. Therefore, Messiah and His people will be pierced.
There is so much in this teaching, Pastor Richard explains why everything needs to be in agreement with our Master: finance, land, even shopping. Every decision! Torah is with us everyday and and in all things. We can only do this with the Spirit of God. We are supposed to decrease so He can increase.
The Spirit of God only follows the Torah, and any spirit that does away with the Torah is not from God.

Special Teaching "שמיני של פסח - Shemini Shel Pesach" which means "Eighth (day) of Passover," delivered on April 27, 2019.
This week we cover The Eighth of Passover. Pastor Richard ties Passover and the Messiah, and gives an understanding of Salvation in the Passover, as well as in unleavened bread, an understanding of Salvation which has been misunderstood. When Israel was redeemed from Egypt this was a changing of Masters. Pharaoh held Israel as slaves, but Hashem is a master they can trust. So being redeemed by the blood caused the Israelites to switch from the Pharaoh being their master to Hashem is the new Master. But being purchased does not guarantee eternity.
Based on the day Israel crossed over the sea of reeds, we (today) have also been freed from our Egypt. Today we are the freed also to serve Hashem. After three days Pharaoh had a change of heart, he determined (1) they were not returning, (2) he regretted his decision, and (3) he overcame his terror.
Pastor Richard also teaches that the Hebrew Scripture almost always refers to the people of Israel as "the sons of Israel," but that the translators usually use "children" in place of "sons." There is a difference between the being children of Israel (which alludes to immaturity and lack of responsibility) and being the sons of Israel, because sons are heirs of the promise.
When Israel reached the Sea of Reeds they were given two options. (1) Turn back to Baal-Zephon, which was an idol which had not been destroyed in Egypt and (2) Pi Hahiroth, which means the mouth of freedom. Choose between the idol and freedom. Egypt did not fear, they believed that Baal-Zephon was too strong for Hashem to destroy, and they believed that Israel would be destroyed by this idol. The Egyptian army is described as a "single" force (one). It will be the same "one" single force in the latter days. Israel, however, formed into two groups: one which held to the faith of Abraham by prayer, fasting and worship, and the other which was fearful, complained and had no faith.
Psalms 20:8 shows fear, but the rising up to overcome.
Pastor Richard teaches that we love the idea of what GOD is, we love the idea of what SALVATION is, but we don't know or understand GOD!
Isaiah 51:12-15 teaches that we forget that Hashem is in control and that is why we fear.
Satan in his craftiness gives us a picture based upon his idea, and we become fearful of what we imagine we see. By using images, we see freedom, fear, reality through his eyes instead of through Hashem's eyes.
The 8th day of Passover represents the marriage feast. First the coming of Messiah, then the meal of Messiah.
Pastor Richard explains that the sea of reeds = cross over. Jacob's trouble = the latter days. The exodus out of Egypt = the greater exodus, latter day.
Jeremiah 16:14-15 is a prophecy that has not "yet" been fulfilled. This prophecy ties together the 1st exodus and the greater exodus. Amen and may you be blessed with this teaching.
Special Teaching on Festivals of Unleavened Bread and First Fruits, covering Leviticus 23:6-14, delivered on April 20, 2019.
This week Pastor Richard provides us with a teaching on the Festivals of Unleavened Bread and First Fruits. He begins discussing our new identity and inheritance now that we've accepted the blood of the lamb. He points out that most believers have an identity crisis because they are coming out of one religion and entering into the Jewish faith, but don't identify with Israel and with the true Messiah. Pastor shows us how Messiah Yeshua is likened to unleavened bread (matzah) as well as how we believers are also to live an unleavened life. We also see the prophetic message of the 1st and 7th day Sabbaths of unleavened bread. Pastor Richard concludes this teaching with the First Fruits offering, how it relates to the chosen ones as well as Messiah Yeshua, and we are given connections to multiple verses in the Brit Chadesha (New Testament).
