The 'No Wobblers' Podcast is recorded at The Wobbly Cobbler Micropub in the UK. This whole podcast is, like many podcasts, first and foremost a platform for good conversations. Guests will vary and topics will range from beer, pubs and drinks to local business, art and culture. Join as we engage, listen, laugh and learn over a few beers.
Today I’m talking about where I get my fix for fun, excercise and creativity. Hope you’re all doing well and thanks for listening :)
Good Morning and lets talk current affairs, how they may impact the Wobbly and my view on some more political matters.
After far too long I am back and this time its all about authenticity and honesty, no more putting on a show for the sake of it and signs of things to come with a new approach to podcasting, at least for me.
A good old catch up on all things Wobbly and of course a bit or a bob about how I've been doing and what had been going on
Our first ramble of the new year as I cover Christmas and of course the end of year celebration itself. Join me for forty minutes or so of content with insights into the business the best, the worse and what’s to come.
Excited for Xmas? Well what better way to pump up your anticipation that to listen to yet another 500 tangents and a good old ramble about whats been crack-a-lackin and whats up next for me and The Wobbly Cobbler.
Firstly be warned, the audio can be a bit wobbly once in a while but its a fair session. This episode I answer 10 questions I am due to answer in front of a group of business management students at Lancaster University. No doubt my answers will be more fleshed out next week when this takes place but this was a great chance to do a quick rehearsal.
I’m back at last and I will confess to why in this first of a resumed, new and hopefully improved series. After an amazing two weeks holiday in Malta I have seen sense and I see great times ahead so join me for a Wobbly ramble about holidays, taking back control and just about everything else!
This week how could we not talk about the football and reflect on the amazing tournament England had but as we all saw, the racism and abuse which followed couldn’t be ignored and I talk about how it has caused me to self-reflect before ending on the great weather and next week’s lifting of restrictions. We are away next week so the next episode will be out two weeks today.
This week I drone on about the football, Live music, Covid stats, improvements to our beer garden and our looking forwards to what sits around the corner.
We’re Back and we start of with a quick re-cap and move onto the amazing health care workers of the world on this, a very sentimental anniversary for me. Then we investigate the future and the impact of the football so grab a brew and take a listen.

I was given the early opportunity to review a fantastic new documentary from Pixelform Studios called “Micropubs - The New Local”
What a brilliant way to spend an hour and well worth the price of a pint (£3.50), take a listen to my review and give it a watch here: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/micropubsthenewlocal/
A fantastic conversation with the owner and head-brewer at Accidental Brewery, now brewing from their brand-new facility in Morcambe and still serving only the best from their Yarden in Lancaster. This was a great chance for me to explore the origins of this fantastic business, its journey thus far and what exciting prospects lay ahead, including a fantastic collaboration! Listen in to find out more.
On this weeks podcast I speak about the weekly routine here at the wobbly, the need to figure out staffing and my planned trip along Hadrian’s Wall. Waxing Lyrical will be takign a break for a couple of weeks while I am away and while we sort our next interview.
In this week’s episode I recap an eventful week with a look to how we are preparing for busy times ahead in terms of staffing, increasing our glassware capacity and expanding our range of what on offer including another tap! Finally, I review what is to come, including a sit down, long form episode with Mike Dent, owner, founder and head brewer at Accidental Brewery.

In this week’s episode I catch up on all the goings on of the past two weeks, talk about a new documentary I had the privilege to be given early access too and which I will be doing a full review for once it had been released in June and really delving into what the purpose of our mission is.
This week I am struggling to stay awake as I whine about being moderately hungover and waxy lyrical about the state of this rude weather and the future looking bright.
On this weeks episode I was able to spend some time as a customer at the Wobbly and among our ever growing extended family. Not only that but we’ve had a new addition at home since Monday and she made her first appearance as well.
First time our doors have been open in 2021 and what a return it was! That, an honest appraisal of The Wobblys environmental impact for World Earth Day and…. I’m getting a puppy :D
This wee we are about to open our little micropub for the first time in 2021, we are almost ready and I made the questionable choice of going out for a few drinks last night, perhaps there are better chocies out there but its too late now!
On this episode we explore the starting line up of fine beverages we expect to showcase next Friday and all the preperation going into opening once again as well as some plans for the future.
Some of you may have noticed the lights on and the power tools at work, well if you want to find out a little bit about what had been going on at The Wobbly Cobbler while we get ready for opening in a few weeks time!
Un-earthing a lost door to bring new life to the bar and a more streamlined approach to good service and all the complications that brings!
This weeks episode has an inside tip for those interested in booking an outside table in the first stage of our re-opening process in April! Otherwise we talk physio and the enjoyment of being yourself when in the same town you grew up in.
This episode is focused on our roadmap to re-opening, starting in April and going through the various steps to the point at which we can all feel normal again! Join me as I discuss… with myself… my plans to getting you back to normality among your friends, family and community!
This week’s episode is an attempt to stay on topic, I failed.. a few times but reigned myself in and looked at Lent, daily discipline, my inner nerd and what we do to stay busy when that there government has toook our jobs!
On this episode I explored the motivation to stay fit in the face of the busy life to come, my own history with depresion and what we can learn from our down times. Alongside this I show you my DNA results and explore the stars to see which one gives me more, plecebo or no… Oh and a fighter jet came flying past, it was the best bit!
This week’s episode is fun and pumped up as I waffle on about the 10.000 Kettlebell swing challenge, my mole based fantasy novel in progress and reasons to be optimistic!
This weeks running left me hurting and wondering if my knees have something wrong while a clip of a father forgiving his son’s murderer sends us deep and I remember the turmoil of being the youngest int he family.
Here we go again Friday folk and this is a good one with a quick update on my january health kick and then a deep look at the nature of complexity and how we need to accept it as part of life. Then we jaunt into sea shanties and the beautiful haunting sound with a couple of examples.
On this weeks episode of Waxing Lyrical I am once more my own guest and topics range from running, showering and outdoor swimming to the floundering of our ‘great’ leaders on a daily basis and the poison of news media in general.
This is a self-indulgent experiment. A series in which I and myself sit down to wax lyrical about whatever seems relevent at the time. Its Covid Lockdown number… maybe 3 or are we on 4? Well either way this sort of project keeps me busy and out of trouble, I hope you enjoy it, you’ve probably got time to fill anyway!
Just an update on the podcast and why it had paused due to Covid but with some more solo lyrical rambling to set me up for any future podcasts with I and myself.
From the actual soundbite of Boycie endouresing the Three Wheel Gin company back when it was only a dream to the story of a three wheeled van soon to be seen up and down the area. Join us for a great chat.
I sit down with the vocal pleasures of Luiza Woods the creative mind behind Brew, a trendy little coffee/bistro on Brock Street, Lancaster. One of a variety of new modern forward thinking and creatively significant venues in Lancaster city centres ‘southern district’, Brew is home to its own unique community. Luiza has her own journey which she tells it here as well as some of the more intense aspects of business ownership, not to mention dealing with Covid so get yourself a Brew and take a listen.
A sit down with the natural story teller which is Dave Cross, One half of the Quernmere Avid Brewery, one of the most local and top quality beer makers out there. Join us for their story and plenty in between.
We sit down to discuss starting a new business, taking that leap and what could be involved and just how that journey took place for all three of us indervidually, home grown as we are. This one was a pleasure from start to finish with plenty of laughs along the way.
In our second episode, Billy jo a local musician sits down to discuss the current situation for live performers and takes us down the road of his life with relation to his music from the early days singing into a broom at home to playing before a crowd of thousands. We also discuss a bit of home reality and the current Covidness
In this first episode we explore a fundemental question made easy by our resident beer boffin. We enjoy a few beers and plenty of laughs in what proved to be a great conversation and I (the host) learnt loads!
