Eugene did not always have it easy and had to go through a number of difficult situations and prove a number of critics wrong to establish a career which has seen him achieve beyond the norm.
Eugene has also educated himself and looks to add value wherever he can and grow the game of basketball in the community.

Imraan Khan is a former South African cricketer who played domestic cricket and captained the Dolphins. He also captained his country at under 19 level. The Dolphins have experienced much success over recent years and the culture seems to be one entrenched in discipline and hard work. Imraan has also been coaching the South Africa A side and he is currently the head coach of the Hollywoodbets Dolphins.
In this talk, we look at how a coach finds the balance between expectations of players and coaches and how a coach aims to get the players to the next level.

Simon Harmer, who has built up quite the reputation when it comes to taking wickets for his County team, has on more than one occasion proven his worth.
After signing for the Essex County Cricket team, Simon went on to achieve incredible milestones which having match figures of 14/128 and taking over 80 wickets for a number of seasons. 🔥

Chris played the game of rugby as he represented Maties and from there played for the Pumas and then mad the move to the Bulls.

Grant Morgan is one of the most influential coaches you will come across. Grant has had success with a number of teams such as KwaZulu-Natal Inland, the Dolphins, Scotland and how is based in the Eastern Cape and fulfills a number of roles for the province and coaches Jendamark United Cricket Club.
Grant has a look at Scotland's performances in the recent T20 World Cup as well as a look at South Africa and Grant makes mention of what it will take for South Africa to win a major trophy. We also focus on his role in the Eastern Province set up and what exactly he is getting up to.

Sacha Mngomezulu who attended Bishops College, has risen up the ranks and show cased his talent on many occasions. This has led him to represent Western Province at schoolboy level and at the age of 19, has represented the Junior Springboks. What's more is that Sacha has made his debut for the senior Western Province side and is growing into a well disciplined fly half.

Aaron Mokoena has represented South Africa over 100 times for club and country. Aaron has played in the English Premier League for Blackburn Rovers and Portsmouth in which he experienced all there is to experience in the world's most competitive league.

Austin Smith represented South Africa in hockey on 183 occasions. At the tender age of 18, Austin received his first call up to the national side and from there, he built up a career that is going to be hard to forget.

The Diocesan College (Colloquially known as Bishops) as it is more commonly known, was established on 2 October 1849 by the Bishop of Cape Town.

Bjorn Basson has over 100 Super Rugby caps to his name as well as 11 Springbok caps.
Throughout his career, Bjorn has had a high conversion rate in terms of his tries scored (almost 1 try every second match) as well as having played for a number of teams such as the notorious Blue Bulls, Southern Kings, Oyonnax, Honda Heat but is now based in the USA with the San Diego Legion Rugby Club.
I spoke to Bjorn about his dynamic career, where it all began for him, how he has expanded his game to continue to play at the highest level, and how he is finding the rugby brand in the USA.

SACS, also known as South African College Schools, is the oldest school in South Africa, established in 1829. One sport that the school prides itself on is rugby. With a host of sporting alumni that carry the name of the school very high, we spoke to Head of Rugby, Graeme Wepener to see exactly how the programme has done this season.
Graeme was the Head Coach of the 1st XV for 6 years and did excellent work and has continued in the sporting department to give his expertise and advice a the Head of Rugby.

Ben Calitz and Charl Hamman, two Old Boys from Paarl Gim, have the passion and determination to make cricket their profession.
Ben has already played at international level a he represented Canada at the U19 World Cup. Ben, the wicket-keeper batsman, is prepared to face any challenge and is steadily working toward his goal of playing international cricket.
Charl has one of the most determined attitudes and a positive approach to his career. Charl has seen that hard work is the one formula that leads to success and is prepared to do what it takes to make it professionally. Akona Ndungane, a rugby legend in South African rugby, who spent his career showing that ambition and determination are essential to make it to the top was an example of pure passion for the game.
Akona, the Blue Bulls and Springbok player who reached over 100 caps for his franchise, spoke on many aspects that are currently happening in South Africa as well as how he sees the Pro 16 unfolding and we take a friendly bet on who is going to win the next Currie Cup.
Akona has started his own foundation with his brother, Odwa, and has his own construction company in AZN Construction.

Hugh Bladen, who needs no introduction, gave a take on all things rugby. From school boy rugby, to playing for Transvaal as well as the Junior Springboks, Hugh also spoke on some of the legends he was able to witness who played for South Africa. Whilst more and more is being discovered about Hugh's career, is was very interesting to find out that he stopped playing professional rugby at the age of 26.
There is a lot more on Hugh and his career and how he went about becoming arguably the best voice in rugby commentary but he is definitely going to be missed when it comes to listening pure enthusiasm and love for rugby on our television sets.
It is an honour to be able to talk to someone who stayed in the profession for 45 years and carried the spirit of rugby with him everywhere he went.

The school boy rugby rivalry kicks off this weekend and it is an old school tie in KZN as Durban High School host Maritzburg College.
College, as the school is referred to, has acquired the skills and knowledge of Hein Kriek. Hein previously coached in The Netherlands as the Technical Director of the national team.
Some questions were posed to Hein who gives a great aspect on what he is looking to achieve this season and how is looking to continue to grow the rugby culture at his new school.

If you watched the English Premier League in the 2000 - 2006 era, you would have had the opportunity to watch Shaun Bartlett create some magic for Charlton Athletic.
Shaun added: " Make sure you are always one step ahead of the person behind you...there are always going to be a few million behind you waiting for that opportunity and you gotta make sure you do a lot more than the normal player..."
Shaun was determined to play for South Africa and in the English Premier League from a young age and his dreams came true through hard work and determination.
Shaun went onto win the Goal of the Season for Charlton and quickly developed into a reliable striker. Shaun has now also become a coach for a number of local teams in South Africa but carries the football legacy with him and will always be known as a football legend for South Africa.

The new cricket structure in South Africa, Warriors cricket, the SA setup and JJ's approach to cricket are some of the matters that are discussed in the interview with JJ Smuts.
JJ has been ever present for the Warriors and has been part of a team that one can never write off. Whilst there have been ups and down in JJ's career, he always looks to turn any situation into one that will benefit him and the team he leads.
JJ is ambitious to have a prolonged career and get a much much cricket under his belt as possible and with his determination, that seems to be a set feature of his game. JJ continues to add to his role as an all-rounder and approaches every challenge head on.

Michael Rippon has been on the receiving end of many cricket awards recently. The Otago Volts player was named the Player of the Year for the 2019/20 season. He also took his best bowling figures (6/66) and made 497 in the season. Michael has been working hard on his First-Class game and the evidence is there to prove that.
Michael admitted that he has been a predominant white ball cricketer and has become a vital part of the Otago Volts team doing well in the Super Smash and the Ford Trophy competitions.
Whilst Michael feels the team can improve on last seasons performances, there are many exciting prospects for the squad with the average age being 24.
We spoke about his life in New Zealand, how he is handling the pressure of the game of cricket, as well as his time with New Zealand 'A'.

Curtis Campher has done very well in his young international cricket career with Ireland.
Curtis is continuously showing his role as an all-rounder is ever important and is growing with the game. He has recently represented the Ireland Wolves against Afghanistan but is set to make the starting XI for Ireland. AB Zondagh, the assistant coach to Toulouse RFC, spoke on how his career began at the French club. It has been an interesting transition for him but has also been one of growth and development.

The South Africa men's hockey team are constantly at work to make the game of hockey grow in the country.
In a conversation with Jethro Eustice and Siya Nolutshungu, both of whom represent the green and gold of South Africa, we look at what has been unfolding in the hockey world.

Brad Wheal has progressed tremendously well in his cricket career. At the age of 18, Brad caught the attention of Hampshire County Cricket Club and was thrown into the deep end on many occasion.
Brad has taken much advice from the experienced players around him and has gone on to represent the Scottish national side. He has also been integral in many fixtures to turn a match on its head to swing things in favour of the team he represents (A.K.A - Mr Reliable).
At 24 years of age, Brad has a First-Class bowling economy of 3.68 and 5.24 in List A cricket.

One of the most determined and ambitious cricketers comes in the form of Roelof van der Merwe. Roelof has always had a strong desire to be successful on the cricket field and has a passion that is much needed in a teams set up.
After representing South Africa, Roelof made the Netherlands his home and contributed successfully in the teams efforts to qualify for the T20 World Cup as well as pursue a spot in the 50 over World Cup.
In his career, Roelof has gone on to represent Somerset (his current club) and experienced much success with Royal Challengers Bangalore, Dehli Daredevils, Brisbane Heat and St Lucia Zouks.

Matthew Booth has made an impression in the football world in many ways. After kicking off his football career in Cape Town, Matthew went on to represent Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits in South Africa. Matthew played in Europe and drew interest from a number of clubs and whilst in Russia, he represented Rostov and Krylia Sovetov in which he played more than 100 matches for Krylia. Matthew also played for South Africa on 37 occasions and shared his thoughts on a appreciative but agonising 2010 World Cup.
Matthew added that, " It shows what a beautiful game, this [football] is. You can be thin, fat, it doesn't matter what colour you are, or what language you speak,...if you have a footballing brain and you train hard and have the right technique, really anyone is able to play."

Lwazi Mvovo is a true ambassador for the game of rugby. Lwazi spent the majority of his career at The Sharks and went on to represent the Springboks on 21 occasions (including SA 'A' and tours).
In his career, Lwazi was always as consistent as one could find in any team setup and was always hard at work on his game. He represented The Sharks in 200 fixtures and has become an admired figure in the community.
In this interview, we spoke about his retirement, the current Sharks squad and their performances as well as a famous sports personality he would like to meet in person. We also touched on his outstanding ability in defense and attack.

Pedrie Wannenburg spent the majority of his rugby career with the Blue Bulls. In that time, he did his club and country proud and played an integral part in the Blue Bulls dominance of rugby in South Africa.

In what is a first for The Sports Editor, we had the privilege of chatting to former Formula One racing driver, Mark Webber. The Australian has won 9 Grand Prix races and had 42 podium finishes in his career. Mark retired from Formula One in 2013 but still did some racing in the form of the World Endurance Championship with Porsche.
Mark gives us an excellent breakdown of what it is like to be a race car driver with all the demands and expectations of Formula One and just how dedicated you have to be to the sport as a professional. Mark also gives us his thoughts on Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, his toughest racing track and how technology has had an influence on the sport. Mark had his fair share of scary moments and added: " Doing gymnastics with a F1 car at high speed is never a good thing..."
Formula One is a unique sport as one gets pushed to the highest level in so many different aspects. The Formula One season is set to start on 21 March.

Kwagga Smith is a true testament of hard work and love for the game of rugby. After moving up the ranks for the Lions at U19 and U21 level, Kwagga eventually made his Currie Cup debut for the franchise and also went to to represent the Blitzboks and Springboks.

David Campese, a rugby legend of Australia, spoke about many interesting aspects of the game of rugby. David played 101 Tests for the Wallabies, won the Bledisloe Cup 3 times, won the Rugby World Cup, leading try scorer for Australia and and participated in the Commonwealth Games. Keith Dudgeon, who attended Parktown Boys High School, represented Gauteng Schools and South Africa U19 in cricket. Keith has never shied away from a challenge and since his moved to Durban, has shown that he is more than prepared to do what needs to be done to have a successful cricket career.
Keith has played 50 First-Class matches and is aiming to add many more games to his tally as well as grow his reputation as a bowling all-rounder in the Dolphins set up.

Lucky Dladla, a schoolmaster at St Charles College and former Dolphins cricketer, spoke to The Sports Editor about cricket in schools and how critical it is to have the great school masters that are currently in the school system in South Africa. Lucky also spoke about the talented Wesley Madhevere and how he has progressed so well from school to international cricket.

Mangaliso Motshele started his cricket career with Easterns and has gone on to represent the Lions and Cape Cobras but has now settled at the Dolphins. Mangs (as he is affectionately known) spoke on how cricket became his life line and made him the person he is today. Dave Rundle, former South African cricketer, spoke about many interesting aspects of cricket. From being educated at St Stithians College to spending his cricket career in Cape Town, Dave has a concise approach to cricket but is able to dissect cricket very well.

Shaun von Berg has added value to cricket in South Africa in many ways and has had a full career thus far. Shaun has spent most of his career with the Titans but is now relishing his time at The Knights where he has exhibited his all-round ability for the team. Shaun has always been on hand to assist the team in dire straits to being a mentor for the young up and coming cricketers.
Shaun has a First-class batting average of 29.02 but what's more is that he has scored the fastest century in the 4-Day franchise competition (until recently beaten by team mate, Jacques Snyman). He has also taken 21 five-wicket hauls and now has 400 First-Class wickets to his name.
Shaun spoke about his game, why he decided not to pursue a career in New Zealand and his handling of pigeons in the cricket stadium.

Peabo Lembethe has thrived in his hockey career. Peabo attended Maritzburg College where he was introduced to handle the competitiveness of the game. Peabo then studied at Tuks University where he was the captain of the 1st XI hockey team which also won the Varsity Cup. Peabo has represented South Africa on a good number of occasions and is eager to get going again for club and country. He is currently in Ireland where he represents YMCA Hockey Club.

Edward Moore is ever present in his efforts to be the best cricketer he can be. Edward has claimed the opening batsman role in the Warriors squad and continues to show signs of improving from season to season. Whilst he has been dominant in the red ball aspect of the game, Edward has ambitions to do just as well in List A cricket and is eager to show his capabilities when he will be spending some time in England during South Africa's off season.

Eathan Bosch has an incredible ability to do the little things well and is ambitious to continue with the great strides he has made in his cricket career. Eathan made his First -Class debut in 2017 for KwaZulu-Natal followed shortly by his debut for the Dolphins in the T20 competition in the 2017/18 season. Eathan has gone onto represent South Africa at U19 level as well as in the Emerging Squad.

Sibonelo Mashimane is a testament to dedication and commitment. He began his cricket umpiring career in 2005 and 15 years later, cricket grounds are still graced with his presence. Sibonelo (A.K.A. Captain) has a great sense of humour and lives life to its optimum and is a servant to the game of cricket and to the KZN Inland Cricket Union. Sibonelo is also a runner and has completed 11 Comrades Marathons and shows no signs of giving up.
Sibonelo spoke about his career and how it has grown into what it is today as well as what some of his future plans are. He has also started up his own business which sees him focusing on coaching athletes and developing training plans for runners.

Carl Bradfield can be considered as one of the most meticulous cricket coaches in South Africa at school boy level. Carl played First-Class cricket for Eastern Province (Warriors) for the duration of his professional career and scored over 5000 runs in 93 matches. Carl was very disciplined in his cricket approach and it shows in how he brings the best out of the players that he coaches.
We discussed how he goes about ensuring cricket is growing under his directive and how St Andrews College makes the most of the number of players they have at their exposure. We also touched on the SA 'A' team and hat it has to offer as well as how important leadership is in cricket.

Jonathan Kaplan, a world renowned rugby referee, spoke to The Sports Editor about his illustrious career. Jon started his career whilst still attending school and was soon appointed onto the SA Referee panel. Jon has won numerous awards and sees things for what they are.

Josh Stander has developed as a rugby player and brings much value to whichever team he represents. After attending Queens College, Josh spent some time playing for the Blue Bulls before making the move to the Stormers where he spent a number of seasons before making the move to Japan. Meyrick Pringle can easily be considered a man of many talents. From playing cricket for South Africa, to coaching and now involved in ostrich farming, Meyrick leaves no stone unturned. Meyrick has also commentated on cricket in Xhosa for SuperSport. We spoke about where it all began for him, how he pushed the boundaries with coach Duncan Fletcher, his coaching experiences in India as well as being on the receiving end of a blow to the eye in a Test against India.
Meyrick had a First-Class bowling average of 2.77 and took 429 wickets in 119 matches.

Melusi Mthethwa has worked hard to be the back line coach of the rugby franchise, the Cheetahs. After studying human movement and doing his bit in the scouting world, Melusi did well with the Cheetah's U21 team and is now embracing the challenges with the successful Currie Cup team.

Gary Wheadon has excelled in squash from a young age. Gary has gone on to represent South Africa and has traveled a number of times flying the SA flag high. He has also won the Jarvis Cup (now called the Growthpoint Championship) and continues to do what he does best on the squash court - give his opponent a jolly tough time.

Brett Schultz progressed well through the cricket ranks to eventually be called up to represent South Africa. In what was a short career with the national team, Brett made an impact on the team and country and had devastating pace and the ability to swing and reverse swing the ball. Brett only played 60 First-Class matches and took a total of 233 wickets but injury never allowed him to be as consistent as he wished to be.
Brett spent most of his cricket career with Western Province and always made the most of the occasion he found himself in with a great sense of humour.
This is definitely one of the most humorous interviews that has taken place.

Brian Liebenberg attended Pretoria Boys High School and pursued a professional rugby career in Europe. After a short stint in Italy, Brian did well at Stade Français as well as Grenoble. Brian went on to represent France and played in the 2003 Rugby World Cup, win the 6 Nations Championship and build a career where he was known as a hard runner and great carrier of the ball with immense defensive abilities.
Brian has now turned his attention to Catch&Think - a unique rugby programme which is set to transform the way rugby is coached and will also assist the coaches in being better at their role. The mental aspect of his programme is set to make an impact which will develop the children holistically. This is a product that you needs to get your hands on if you are a rugby coach and/or player.

Ben Venter, who has made an impact on the rugby field in more ways than one, shared his story with The Sports Editor. Ben who is a natural athlete decided to pursue rugby as a career and it paid dividends as he represented Griquas, Border Bulldogs and spent a good number of years playing in France representing Chambéry, Bordeaux Bègles and Montauban. Ben who is a force to be reckoned with on the rugby field also enjoys his time fishing and is a coach at Unimil Rugby Club.

Adrian Kuiper, who is well known for his power hitting and for often sending bowlers back to their runs up after some heavy blows with lowered heads, had an autonomous ability to turn a game in his favour. He can easily be refereed to as a player who was ahead of his time as he would have dominated in the T20 format. Adrian spent the majority of his cricket career with Western Province and represented South Africa 25 times in ODI's.
Adrian had a First-Class batting average of 32.24 with 46 half-centuries to his name. The Bishops College cricketer also took 196 First-Class wickets.
Adrian is currently a farmer in Elgin, Western Cape.

Jayden Schadendorf, who has represented Zimbabwe U19's, has spent a good amount of time playing cricket in Australia, New Zealand and has now put his focus on doing well in England. Shaun Sowerby, who began his rugby career at The Sharks, found himself spending the majority of his career in France with Stade Francais, Toulouse and Grenoble. George is aiming to dominate in the all-rounder category and is working hard to make the Protea call up a regular one. George is doing well as he has taken more than 300 wickets in his career thus far with three centuries to his name.

Siya has worked incredibly hard on his hockey game. After not featuring in the ranks in his primary school career, Siya moved up very quickly to attain a spot in the Junior World Cup team and is now a full time member of the South Africa hockey squad.
Siya has also started his own company called SN Goalkeeper Dynamics.

Shayne Makombe has worked hard not only on his rugby game but in terms of his personal development. Shayne has completed his degree after spending some time in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
Shayne has represented Zimbabwe in Rugby Sevens as well as Rugby Union and continues to push himself to get the most out of his game. He currently plies his trade at Rugby Club Compiegne in France.

Shane Ball had an impressive school career at Westville Boys' High School. Shane, who plays fullback, is working ever hard on his game and after spending some time at The Sharks Academy and playing in the Portuguese premiership, Shane will now be representing the South Western Districts in the Currie Cup. Shane is steadily building his career after a serious injury held his career back.
Shane is an enthusiastic rugby player and has much potential.

Hein Kriek who is the Technical Director for the Netherlands national rugby team has enjoyed his career as he has moved up the rugby ranks successfully. Hein coached at school boy level in the Western Cape and was also coach of the Western Cape team at Craven Week.

Marcel Coetzee, Maritzburg College Old Boy, started his professional career with The Sharks but has settled in Germany where he represents the national team in 7's and 15-man rugby. His main focus, however, has been with the 7's team.
Marcel has worked his way up and there are signs that the German team is making inroads and it will only be a matter of time before we see the team at world events.

Daryn Dupavillon has proven that through hard work and determination, anything is possible. Daryn first represented KZN Inland in First-Class cricket and not long after that, received a call up to the Dolphins. Through his efforts and determination, he has now represented South Africa in cricket. Ngoni has done amazing things for the game of rugby. Not only in the way he interacts with others but how he continues to embrace every challenge that he may face and how he goes about handling it. Ngoni has started his own academy in Zimbabwe (Hearts of Stone Rugby Academy) which is growing steadily and are hoping for more competitions to participate in. Dayaan and Mustapha Cassiem have exploded onto the hockey scene with some fantastic skills and playing ability. Dayaan (20) and Mustapha (18) have represented the Green and Gold for SA Hockey in the outdoor and indoor format. Dayaan also plays for Gladbacher HTC, Germany. From making their debuts at the age of 17 for South Africa, to experiencing the Commonwealth Games to being in the SA Schools team as well as winning gold at the IPT, these two players are getting used to success at a young age.
Both players are humble, determined and are set to do great things for hockey in South Africa.

Matt Tweedle has done well for himself in the rugby world. After playing in Ireland, Scotland and South Africa, Matt has continued to grow in his career and now represents CSA Steaua București in the SuperLiga - the top flight for Romanian rugby. The club also recently won the Romanian Cup and continue to grow in stature.

Dave Callaghan is passionate about cricket and contributes to the game in as many ways as he can. Dave played cricket for South Africa from 1992 until 2000. Dave is well-known for his 169* vs New Zealand when he opened the batting - something he had never done before at international level.
Dave is a fighter as he conquered cancer and is simply incredible to chat to. Dave also played for Eastern Province and had a stint in England with Nottinghamshire. Dave's First-Class batting average was 36.1 and bowling average was 29.1 - a decent effort from the all-rounder.

Dane Vilas, King Edward VII School Old Boy, has done wonders on the cricket field. Dane began his First - Class career in 2006 and progressed in leaps and bounds and broke a number of records such as: List A – 166 runs off 100 balls (a Lancashire record) First - Class – 266 runs (The 15th highest First-Class score for Lancashire) “He also took his first-class form to a new level during the 2012-13 season when he played an innings of 187 and made 10 dismissals in the SuperSport Series match between the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras and the Chevrolet Warriors. This was the first instance in the history of first-class cricket of a wicketkeeper playing an innings in excess of 150 and making 10 dismissals.” cricket.co.za
Dane was selected to represent South Africa, however, he signed a Kolpak deal with Lancashire Cricket which has paid dividends for the talented cricketer.

Ben spoke on what the academy is aiming to accomplish from a coaching point of view as well as the international set up the academy is involved in and the high-performance academy. The Root Academy aims to “unlock your cricketing potential” and is unique to bringing the best out of the players by allowing the cricketers to play to their strengths. Kyle Coetzer has a fascinating story to tell. He has represented Scotland in cricket at all levels from U15 to the senior men's team and still has ambitions for his team and country.
Some of his career highlights include being honoured with an MBE, beating England and his team will be at the T20WorldCup next year in Australia. Kyle's batting average for ODI's is a fantastic 43.80. He first captained the Scottish ODI squad for Zimbabwe tour in June 2017. In the first match as ODI captain on 15 June 2017, Kyle scored a century becoming the first Scottish player to do so in a debut captaincy.

Robin David Jackman was born Simla, Punjab, British India and is a former English cricketer. His career saw him play four Tests and fifteen ODI's for England from 1974 to 1983. He was a seam bowler and useful tail-end batsman with his best bowling figures being 8/40 in First-Class cricket which saw him have an average of 22.80. During a First-Class career lasting from 1966 to 1982, he took 1,402 wickets.
He was a member of the Surrey side that won the County Championship in 1971 and also played for Western Province in South Africa in 1971-72, and for Rhodesia between 1972–73 and 1979-80.

Alan Dawson’s international career lasted from 1998 to 2004, yielding 21 ODI wickets at a bowling average of 34.04 and five Test wickets at 23.39. Dawson's best 'international' performance occurred in the semi-final of the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1998. South Africa had lost nine wickets when Dawson joined Nicky Boje at the crease. They put on a partnership to steer South Africa into the final where they beat Australia.

Frankie made his sevens debut at the 2007 Dubai Sevenstournament and immediately established himself as a key player for the team, appearing in all eight tournaments in the series.
He once again played every leg of the 2008–09 IRB Sevens World Series, as South Africa won the series. He also played in the 2009 Rugby World Cup Sevenscompetition, helping South Africa to the quarter-finals, where they lost to Argentina. He also won a bronze medal with the side at the 2009 World Games in Kaohsiung, Republic of China.
During the 2013 London Sevens, Horne played in his 50th consecutive IRB Sevens World Series tournament, becoming the first player to achieve this feat. He was also selected in the squad that played at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and helped his side to a 17–12 victory over a New Zealand that won the previous four tournaments.

Shane Burger made his First-Class debut in the 2001/02 season for Gauteng. He captained the Gauteng side in the 2007-08 and 2009-10 seasons and led the team to the SAA Provincial One-Day Challenge title in 2007-08. Shane also represented the Lions and KwaZulu-Natal Inland. Shane’s First-Class batting average was 33.67, scoring 19 half centuries and 6 centuries. He took 171 wickets in 91 matches with an average of 24.47.
After completing his playing career with KwaZulu-Natal Inland, Shane took over the coaching role and was very successful with the team winning numerous competitions such as the Africa T20 Cup, the 3-day series and has won CSA's Coach of the Year award twice in three years.

While playing for Fish Hoek High School, Paul Harris was spotted by Western Province coach Duncan Fletcher who brought him into the provincial underage system. Harris made his first-class cricket debut for Western Province B in 1998 and only got a handful of games for Western Province. In 2002, Paul played for the Northerns which later changed to the Titans.
In 2006, he joined Warwickshire and was immediately picked for the Bears in the T20 competition.
Paul played his first match in the third Test of the 2006/07 series against India at Newlands Cricket Ground. Paul continued to make progress and upon retirement from international cricket, he took 103 test wickets.

Pat Symcox was a right-arm off-spin bowler and was known for his powerful hitting down batting order. He has a Test century to his name, scored against Pakistan in 1998.
Pat played in 20 Test matches and 80 One Day Internationals for South Africa. He is also a popular after-dinner speaker and plays golf off a single figure handicap. Known as one of the tough men of the 90's Protea cricket team, Pat is never afraid of getting to the bottom of cricket debates.

Jacques Burger, who hails from Windhoek, Namibia, started his rugby career with Griquas who then played for Aurillac only to return to South Africa to play for the Blue Bulls and then end his career with the Saracens.
Jacques played for Namibia for just over 10 years and now resides in Nambia where he has continued with the farming life.

Ernst Joubert, born and raised in Ceres, Western Cape, has quite a rugby story to him. Although spending most of his rugby career in England playing for Saracens, he started his career by representing Western Province after which he joined the Cats which then became the Lions in 2003. Ernst joined Saracens in 2009 and spent the better part of 6 seasons at the club.
Upon retirement from the game, Ernst moved back to South Africa where he resides in Stellenbosch and is the Head of the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport Rugby International Institute.
