I present to you another In Session with a wonderful energy, Kitty Bucholtz. She is not only a writer who pens superhero urban fantasy and romantic comedy, often with an inspirational element woven in, she decided to become a writer-turned-independent-publisher, forming Daydreamer Entertainment and self-publishing her first novel in 2011. Founder of WRITE NOW! Workshop and host of WRITE NOW! Workshop Podcast, she loves to teach writing workshops online and in person and has been doing so since 1997.
I think her In Session exemplifies a problem many of us run into, and that is those of us who service a variety of clients can empathize when it comes to personal branding and not exactly knowing how to create an effective branding message.

My guest today, Andi Matheny said this in my book: “Think about what even the shyest person is capable of doing under extraordinary circumstances. When we must act, we do.” In this episode, we discuss exactly how we do this.
I met Andi on a talk show I produced over a decade ago. You may recognize her from The Resident as Dr. Kelly Whitley, or maybe as Sara Rue’s mom on Hallmark’s "True Love Blooms."
We chat about her journey in becoming an acting coach, recognizing through the process that: first, everyone is running in their own race. Second, hosting gave her the permission to be herself. She even shares a couple of acting exercises with us that are helpful to tap into the power of being one’s authentic self.

In this episode of The A-Factor Podcast, I have an insightful and raw conversation with interior designer, entrepreneur, and media personality, John McClain (@johnmcclaindesign on IG, YouTube, & Facebook).
With candor and wit, he shares his personal experiences of being both a creative and business owner. We get real about the risk of entrepreneurship, the imposter syndrome many of us face, and how vulnerability can be an incredible asset. John shares funny anecdotes and also breaks down the balancing act of dealing with the first "A" of The A Factor, his audience.
In his own words, “The adrenaline rush of doing something new and exciting has always been on the tip of my tongue. And I'm always looking for that next fun thing to do.” So, take a moment, sit back, and get ready to laugh, while discovering some useful business tips in the process.
Have you ever been in a situation where someone has left you hanging? Did it change the way you thought about that person? For me, I had an experience with “The Publicist,” who I established a business relationship with that ended in a temporary ghosting. I wasn’t quite sure how to relate to him any longer because at the end of the day, vagueness does more damage to your personal brand than anything else. Closing the loop is hugely important in communication. In this episode, you can learn how it can build and maintain strong relationships, and make them thrive whether it is an offer, a request, or a proposal.
All of us could use a little help when it comes to speaking about ourselves and getting over our nervousness and this was the case with “The Engineering Students.” Say you are preparing for a job interview like these students were, you don’t need to remind them what is on your resume. There is something on that resume that has already resonated with the person you're being interviewed by, so why would you need to repeat it? They are looking for something different and to communicate that “something different,” you will need three things: Intention, understanding your audience, and reaction time.

How many of you have heard get your 90-second elevator pitch ready? I met “The Techie” in one of my workshops. He, like many others that attend my class and workshops, ran through his pitch and wasted his moment. Right now, here and now, let me tell you: You need to abandon this technique and instead come up with a 90-second CONNECTION. Within that 90 seconds that you are going up the elevator with that individual that you think is some important decision-maker, you gotta remember he or she has heard a ton of pitches all day and every time he or she is going up that metaphorical elevator, someone is objectifying them and looking at them as a yes or no person or not even as a person at all as a thing that is either going to greenlight your project or not. “The Techie” who was used to using his data was ignored repeatedly because he wasn’t engaging the decision-makers in his process.

Have you ever had a conversation with someone and it is not quite in sync? Clarity is really important when it comes to having conversations because sometimes you might be talking to somebody and you feel like he or she is not listening to you as if they are in a completely different space. In this episode, The Salesperson, a very well-educated, well-spoken, and passionate representative of her clients hits a wall of miscommunication in an awkward lunch meeting. This is an instance where identifying which of the three types of communication comes into play and how choosing the right one can get you back in sync.

We all have our favorite stars that we follow on social media, and we follow them not only for what advice or thoughts they might have, but also to know a little bit about their inside world. As a media coach, I work with a lot of different celebrities and helping to cultivate that public image. Although bright and beautiful, “The Model” was one person in particular that really struggled with this idea of being self-revealing. She had gone through a series of very tumultuous relationships that led her to be in the headlines, but was determined to expand her career into on-camera work. Take a listen and find out how she learned to connect with her audience just in the right way, so that she gained trust and how you can also emotionally connect to your own audience, be true to yourself, and still remain accountable to them.
