By the time he was twelve he had lived in over twenty different cities. Big Mama’s Step Father was a country radio personality named Jerry Paxson. It was during this time that Big Mama got the taste of radio. He knew after being backstage at one of the biggest country concerts in the world that he was meant to be in radio.

But at twelve, life changed for Big and he moved into his birth father’s house and began to participate in a variety of different activities. From football and wrestling to chess club and student council, Big found a love for another side of life.

At eighteen, he joined the US Army as an Airborne Infantryman and served two years in Alaska. After his service, Big began working many jobs first as a factory worker, then a frozen food manger and ending up as a manager for health clubs. But after two exhausting years of that business it was time for a change.

In 1995, Big walked into a Top 40 radio station in his hometown and asked for a job. After a 7 month free internship, Big got his big break, Midnight shift on a Saturday night. He was able to secure that air shift after selling five dozen of the station’s hats in twenty four hours.

From there his career took off. It landed him in places like Phoenix, Albuquerque, Tampa, Memphis, Philadelphia, Fresno, Spokane, and Minneapolis. Most recently his career solidified here in Southwest Florida. Big holds down the Morning Show for WXKB B1039 and has done so since early 2008. Big and his crew ‘The WiLD Bunch’ have scored the highest ratings in station history and won countless awards including The Best Morning Drive team ten years running in the News-Press best of the Southwest. He gained national attention numerous times including the inking of his ‘Dunk City” tattoo.

Big Mama loves to fish, is involved in many charities including Boys and Girls Club of Lee County and Making Strides against Breast Cancer.

Big currently resides in North Fort Myers with his wife Sara and his 2 kids Bella and Finnegan.
