While traveling is demanding in itself, I still need to pay attention to my body. During my last days in Colombia and my first days in Ecuador I embarked on a 10 day, no food - water detox. Think about it like changing the oil of your car, detoxing is the same. Cleaning the shit out of your body, resrafting clean and gaining mass cognative benefits on top. I gorged on baked yuka, potatoes and burritos the night before my fast and I was proud of my last meal. It wasn't easy as some days I was moving around, leave and crossing land borders, taking transportation and even exploring mountains and craters! All with very little energy... I have been to many holes, and Islamic Republic of Mauritania is on the very top of the shitholes. I have visited Mauritania and I will never go back. There is nothing in Mauritania but rows of houses with tents outside for their slaves to live. The city itself is dirty, trash everywhere which attracts too many flies. Unlike other African countries it is not vibrant, can can not hear laughter in the streets, see people hanging out. This is my experience in Mauritania 2016.

Hailed as the most corrupt border in Africa I can confirm one thing this, is the most ridiculous border experience I have ever had. The whole thing is sort of like an absurd pantomime with swiney back ally characters all playing their crooked roles in trying to rinse confused strangers of their money, including the people in uniform. Take my advice and avoid engaging in conversation with anybody. -Celina
