J.I. Packer said that these verses are the "key, not merely to the New Testament, but to the whole Bible, for they crystallize into a phrase the sum and substance of its message." And what is the message of the Bible?
"...the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was." ~Matthew 2:9
This isn't idle theological speculation. Not if you have lost a little baby or a small child - not if you have had a miscarriage -- or an abortion. If you have, this is one of the most important questions you have ever asked of God -- "Where is my baby? Will I ever see that child again?" If God's Word has any relevance to our lives, then it must offer some answers to this question.
We are all to make the most God-glorifying decisions we can, but what do we do when we disagree with each other about our decisions?
Why talk about the issue of alcohol at all? Of all the so-called "grey areas" that Christians must face in this country (it wouldn't even be an issue in many other countries), alcohol is one of the most divisive. And I believe one of the most misunderstood.
