Candace A. Gray (aka Candy Fox) was born and raised in Memphis and has always lived a double life. She’s a Gemini and she’s always operated well in both left and right brain spaces. Candace’s mother (RIP) always told her to never rely on ONE thing to sustain you...and that concept has remained with her since high school!

Candace is marketing and communications professional by day...and a singer/songwriter by night (hence the stage name Candy Fox). She sings mostly Soul Music, which is native to Memphis. And as the Founder and CEO of CG Comms Group, Candace serves several local clients who make Memphis what it is from cultural, economic and artistic perspectives.

Throughout her communications career, Candace has worked in the private (archer malmo, inc.) and public (FedEx) sector, for-profit and non-profit (Freedom Prep Charter Schools). In true Memphis spirit, she started my own full-service, boutique communications agency, DURING THE PANDEMIC! And she’s seen much success, as a result of a great work ethic and referrals!

Throughout her music career, Candy Fox has sung with some of the best in the business, from R&B and Soul to Blues to Gospel, to Hip Hop, including 8Ball & MJG, Al Kapone, Charrelle & Alexander O’Neal, Howard Hewett and Shalamar, Jennifer Holliday, Richard Smallwood, Kurt Carr, Chico DeBarge, The Legendary Barkays, and the list goes on.

Candy Fox also released her own project, Soul Stir, independently after leaving the Hip Hop collective Free Sol, who won the Mid-South Grammy Showcase in 2004 and released the album 11:11 on Memphis Records. Soul Stir, a true work of art, is available on all electronic platforms.

Somewhere in betwixt all of that, Candace found time to get married to her wonderful partner and bring life into this world, in the form of a son, at the age of 41! She’s also a dog mom, and her little family currently resides in Memphis.

Candace is the epitome of Memphis. She makes things happen, as opposed to waiting for them to happen. And she’s just getting started!

Lisa Lee is the VP of Global Culture, Belonging, and People Growth at DoorDash, the nation's largest and fastest-growing on-demand platform for door-to-door delivery. Lisa oversees Employee Connections, Diversity & Inclusion, Internal Communications, and Learning & Development, weaving together these four critical areas to create an interconnected strategy so DoorDash’s employees can do the best work of their careers.

She joins DoorDash from Squarespace, where she led the creation of its first diversity and inclusion strategy. Before Squarespace, Lisa served as Pandora Media’s first Director of Diversity and Inclusion Strategies, where she led Diversity and Inclusion, Employee Experience and Marketing, Giving, and University/EDU programs.

During her tenure, she built and executed Pandora’s overarching diversity strategy. Balking the norm, Lisa led the company to publish its workforce demographic data as one of the first ten publicly-traded tech companies to do so, and just three years later, was one of the few companies to publicly announce measurable diversity goals. Numbers aside, Lisa architected a winning employee culture that celebrates diversity and inclusion at its core, and it reflects outwardly in Pandora’s business strategy. Pandora’s diverse and inclusive culture has been ranked as one of the top themes by employees when asked “What do you love about Pandora’s culture and what are we doing well?”

Prior to joining Pandora, Lisa was at Facebook where she led initiatives in User Operations, Product Operations, and Diversity Programs. She served as the publisher of Hyphen magazine, an award-winning publication about Asian American arts, culture, and politics and co-founded Thick Dumpling Skin, a positive body image community for the Asian American community. During her spare time, Lisa sits on the board of Asian Americans for Civil Rights and Equality and volunteers with Year Up.

Shirley X. Moore is a native of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico but was raised in the Olneyville neighborhood of

Providence, RI. Shirley migrated with her family at the tender age of five, and she soon began

interpreting for her mother and friends. Shirley believes she has a unique perspective when it comes to

interpreting because she is a self-proclaimed “outlier” (Gladwell, 2008). Shirley has spent her entire life

bridging communication for limited English speaking people within different human service systems. She

believes her experiences as a child help her provide the best interpretation and support for her clients.

Shirley started working at the age of fourteen when she was hired as the Bilingual Outreach Worker at a

local community center. Through that position, she learned to serve the community at large with the

skills she had been developing for years. In 2006, Shirley began her professional interpreting career at

Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Boston where she worked with local, state and federal organizations

and businesses to bridge communication between professionals and their clients.

In 2007, Shirley volunteered at Praise Tabernacle Church to share God’s love with the homeless

population. While there, she started two programs one that gave make-overs to homeless women every

six weeks. Another, which helped individuals get back into the workforce by assisting with interviewing

skills, resume writing and job search. Shirley is one of the founding members of the RI Dream Center, a

faith-based non-profit that supports homeless individuals in the Providence area. In 2012, Pastor Shirley

became the Executive Director of the RI Dream Center. It was at that time that she noticed that most of

the people she supported had one thing in common, they came from broken homes. That’s when she

began to shift careers into supporting and stabilizing families.

Shirley has served on the Board of Directors of Young Leader’s Fellowship; the Mayor Tavares’

(Providence, RI) Ministerial Committee; has been Wraparound Facilitator at Family Service of RI; the

Operations Manager of the RI Renegades; Director of Operations at The Mullings Group; Training

Consultant for Bootstrap Bootcamp; Marriage on the Rock Facilitator and a Domestic Violence Advocate

at the Women’s Resource Center; she’s currently a Founding Member and the Director of Operations at

the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Leadership and coaches entrepreneurs on business launch and

development.

Shirley graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from Springfield College and possesses

a Master’s of Science in Organizational Management and Leadership.

Shirley is an experienced Interpreter serving Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese speaking individuals for

over fifteen years. In 2016, Shirley partnered with her friend, Zoila Bernal, to launch Be Moore

Interpreting because they believe that there is a way to “Creatively Bridge Communication.” They would

like to transform the interpreting field through consistently evaluating their services and searching for

the hidden outliers within the world community.

Be Moore Interpreting led Shirley to launch her new project- The Rail, a coworking space in downtown

Pawtucket. The Rail aims to support urban entrepreneurial dreams by removing some of the barriers to

entry for “unlikely” entrepreneurs. Shirley believes The Rail is only an evolution of the work she started

so many years ago, before she addressed basic needs, now she helps her community identify creative

ways to leave lasting legacies.

Shirley lives by the following words: “She believed she could… So, she did!”

We've gone international!!!!!

Jackie Kasumba joins me from her home in London, England!

When I asked Jackie what she wants our listeners to know about her, she shared:

I was born in Uganda, but moved to the London in my infant years so technically British now, but have a very close tie to my Ugandan routes. I am the youngest of 4 siblings (definitely continue to ride the last born wave in everything I do in the Kasumba household). My family upbringing was strict, unwavering and loving and I give thanks for being raised by such a strong, independent, bold black African woman.

For the last 12 years I have been working within the Human Resources field, most recently transitioned to a Project Management role which I am really loving. It is challenging and new, but I find I am most comfortable when there is a good level of discomfort.

I live everyday, thanking God I am alive to see another day and blessed that I have such great family and friends around me that authentically accept me for who I am.

A motto I live by:"It is not where your dreams take you, Its where you take your dreams." Maya Angelou
