As both an actor and voice actor – it’s always wonderful to flex the vocal muscles on a dramatic voice project. For the Pirate Experience exhibition on one of the Caribbean islands , I was asked to provide the voice of infamous historical pirate “Calico” Jack Rackham – the inspiration for Jack Sparrow in the recent movie franchise. I was also hired to voice the featured pirate characters on board Jack’s ship “The Rusty Parrot”. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calico_Jack
This is a short audio sample from the production. Jack’s partner, Anne Bonny, sets the scene for us. A Spanish galleon is blocking the bay and the pirates are under fire. Jack gathers his drunken crew and orders them to move to the “Kingston” – a merchant ship they stole in December 1719.
I recorded the audio at my personal studio with the cutting-edge LEWITT LCT540s Microphone. The client and producers directed me via Skype audio.

I was delighted to record a set of 8 voiceovers for Heineken Commerce Week 2018, which takes place in Amsterdam over several days this year.
The conference is designed for Heineken’s global commerce managers and typically has around 1500 International guests. The events discuss strategy, innovations, new developments and the arena includes stands and showcases from many business partners such as JCDecaux, Facebook and Dentsu Aegis.
To demonstrate current thinking related to e-commerce and marketing, one of the stands features a “Hashtag Wall”. The wall shows 8 hashtags elements such as “#IGStories” (Instagram Stories) . The delegates will press a button for each Hashtag and listen on headphones to my voice describing the Hashtag.
The voice brief was neutral UK English with a friendly, positive delivery. Although the hashtags descriptions often contain a lot of technical information – they also required a playful, conversational tone at times.
The recording was made at my personal studio and was directed via Skype by the production company. A selection of the Hashtag audio files is below.

I was delighted to record a medical conference documentary voiceover on the theme of Rome and Italian cuisine, medicine and philosophy. The event took place in the city of Rome and the documentary video was intended to welcome the delegates to the conference, highlight company developments and show various elements of Italian culture and history. The voice brief was for a neutral “Standard” English accent and a professional, educational, warm, informative style, such as would be found on a TV or Film Documentary. The recording was made at my personal studio and supplied to the production team, where it was mixed with a selection of classical and folk music to compliment the scenes and vocal elements. A voiceover compilation from the video is below. I’m thrilled that my work on this project has been nominated for the One Voice Awards 2018 in the category Male Voiceover Artist of the Year.

I was delighted to record a conference video voiceover for Celgene, a global biopharmaceutical corporation. The video was to begin with a voiceover similar to Michael Caine’s opening speech in the film “The Prestige” and required a voice actor able to reproduce his vocal style.
I’ve done many impressions over the years, both as a voiceover and occasionally as a stand-up comedian, although the mature Michael Caine sound was not one I had tried before. I had watched “The Prestige” several times – its a film I greatly admire and enjoy – and was happy to watch it again to perfect the Caine soundalike voice needed for this project.
The recording was made at my personal studio and was directed via the internet by the production company. The Prestige “Caine” voice was first priority, however we also recorded additional versions using a standard neutral English voice delivered with an air of gravitas – in order to give the client some options. A selection of the recordings will appear below shortly.

With the ski season upon us, once again I was delighted to record some Radio Commercial Voiceovers for France, which can be heard in the Rhône-Alpes region.
All voiceovers were recorded and de-breathed in my Personal London Studio and sent via Google Drive for final production by the French radio station. Some of the fully produced commercials are below. I’m delighted that my voice work on the La Grange advert below has been nominated for the One Voice Awards 2018 in the category Best Male Performance – Radio Commercials.

Sometimes a job comes along that makes you smile from ear to ear. Recently I had the joy of sitting behind a microphone, channeling my best LIAM NEESON impression and saying the words “May The Force Be With You” along with many other phrases. I was recording the voice of QUI-GON JINN for a new Star Wars Toy – part of the Disney Force Link Band 2 series.
I’ve done many impressions over the years (as a voiceover and occasionally as a stand-up comedian) – including some actors’ voices. Liam Neeson was not a voice I’d tried before until the audition request came in from Disney/LucasFilm. Nonetheless, I’d watched and heard Neeson many times – especially in his recent TAKEN series of films – and felt my own warm timbre was well suited to emulate his low, soft, deep Northern Irish brogue. You can hear my audition clip below – some of the lines are read several times to show intonation or emphasis options to the producers.
For the recording I went along to the London Studios of SIDE UK and was directed via the internet by the Disney production team in California. It was a huge amount of fun – especially on the more dramatic sections of the script when acting out a scene with Darth Maul.

As an actor and voice actor of 20 years – it’s always a pleasure to work within the more dramatic dimensions of voiceover work. During the summer I was delighted to record a deep trailer voiceover, promoting a new video game “Champions Rising: Legends of Elusia” by NEXON Mobile. Initially I auditioned, as requested, with two specific voice styles; a voice similar to Colin Firth (in Kingsman) and a British version of Richard Epcar’s gravelly tones. You can hear my audition clips below – recorded on iPhone and tweaked on iMac.
Once cast, I recorded the promo at the wonderful Shepperton Studios (Pinewood Group). It was a very dynamic session – being directed simultaneously by the Shepperton studio team and the NEXON production team in South Korea. The Firth and Epcar clips demonstrated the flexibility needed to land the role – yet when it came to the recording day I was asked to provide two other voices:- (1) Dramatic Voice of God (2) Grandpa/Professor – with an emotional world weary sound. The Voice of God version was used, as heard in the video excerpt below. It’s always fun being asked to improvise and develop new voices as needed in the recording session – and great to see very happy clients!

It was a pleasure to record a set of e-Learning voiceovers for Britannia Pharmaceuticals. Britannia Pharmaceuticals, part of the STADA Arzneimittel AG group of companies, is a UK based pharmaceutical company. They specialise in innovative products for chronic and serious medical conditions, particularly the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.
The E-learning module was created for the APO-ACADEMY; a learning platform for their key product, Apomorphine Hydrochloride (APO-go), which is a treatment for Parkinson’s disease. The voiceover brief was for a friendly, warm delivery using my natural voice (Standard English with a hint of Cheshire). The completed audio was 2-3 hours long and recorded in London, UK at the excellent Sound Company Studios. Short audio samples are below.
