Let’s dive into a difficult but realistic topic- terrorism. It’s a scary thing that we all try to avoid thinking about unless it is presented in front of us… What could be scarier than the devastation, destruction, and unforgettable acts of violence? Especially when these acts of violence take place in your or your child’s school. What if I told you the presentation of the news media outlet offered their breaking news in almost a renowned fashion that suggested a sense of “fame” in the eyes of the attacker that could prevail additional acts to take place? In my solo podcast I will be discussing the following questions: Should American television’s breaking news focus more on the heroism and victims in the unfortunate event of a school shooting and does broadcasting the terrorists face as well as counting fatalities add a sense of “fame” to their reputation; in conjunction with adding additional risks for further terror competition trying to challenge death rate by numbers? To simplify this, does broadcasting the details of the event assert others to want to outdo the given attack to gain higher notoriety (the copycat)?
