Over the last month we have been working on something great for you all.
We are upgrading our Commtech USA apps for both iPhone and Android. and do we got a lot in store for you.
for one, we are fixing the issue to where you can’t install our apps on the newest Android phones, A simple fix but just needed to get done. on top of that we are adding features and more content to make it better. We often were told that users got an error that their phone was so new, that Google Playstore would give an error stating so, and it would not install the app. The work around was side loading but we found that was too technical for our end users.
What about iPhone?
It’s getting upgraded as well to version 2.0. We are very excited.
So what are the new features of the app?
Faster and better infrastructure for push notifications.
Schedule appointments to talk to our staff in person or on zoom, directly from in the app.
If you are not a Rehabilitation Services Administration client, this is known as Department of Rehabilitation in California or Vocation Rehabilitation in other states. purchase services like training, support, and music services from our audio production department directly from the app.
an expanded support system, offering direct access to tutorials, both video and audio. phone, sms and email support and an online F.A.Q. and help desk website to assist our clients what ever their need.
Submit a trackable help desk ticket, with a paper trail of the inquiry and results of the request.

Our meeting with the California Department of Rehabilitation went fairly well. The review staff arrived at 9:15 yesterday morning, and a meeting was held on the next steps in the process. A walk through was performed through out our facility, and we showed the review staff the Assistive Technology Lab 108 and the Independent Living Skills and Braille Office 109. We also showed our community space, as well as our kitchen. A couple of suggestions were given regarding client supervision and we took note of said suggestions.
The meeting ended with a statement that we would be contacted with in a week with the next steps and what documents, and procedures we would have to submit in order to proceed in the process.
It’s a good thing we just extended our lease, because we will be here for a long while to come! Thank you so much Kern County for the support, and we are glad to be supporting the blind community here in Bakersfield and beyond.

Here are easy instructions so that you may have up to the minute access to Commtech USA on your Windows PC having the same experience as our Apple and Android users, with Notifications as well. Install our Windows Web App
1.Go to the menu by hitting the Alt key or click the 3 dots in the upper right corner with your mouse.
2. Navigate to “Apps” or simply hit the “a” key.
3.Select “Install this site as an App”.
4.A dialogue will appear, asking for the shortcut name of the app you wish to appear on your desktop, taskbar and start menu. You can choose to skip selecting an icon if you wish.
5. Select the install button to continue.
6.A new window will appear asking if you would like to install shortcuts on the taskbar, desktop, and start menu, as well as if you would like to allow the app to start with your computer automatically.
7.Make your choice about if you would like to allow or not allow the shortcuts and auto start and press enter to continue and install and open the app on your computer.
Hello Bakersfield and Kern County, we are proud to announce that our CRP application has been submitted. We’ll keep the blind community on how it goes and when if we need the community to act. We appreciate your support and this will only bring more to this underserved community.

A Braille Display/note Taker
I would like to introduce you to the Brailliant Bi 40x. Although this device has so many similarities to the e-reader that it could be its bigger sister, there are differences. This Brailleiant Bi 40x most certainly cannot fit in your purse unless your purse is a tote bag. It’s too big. However, this device can do some things that the E-reader can’t do. For one thing, the e-reader does not really have a note pad editor in it. However, with both devices you can book mark sections in books, but the brailliant bi 40x calls its book reading app the “victor reader” app instead of the “book reader” app. The E-reader and the Brailliant-bi-40x both have something called “Online Services” instead of a web browser or an email client. These devices both have a clock and calendar app that only tells you the date and time, however, the brailliant bi 40x has a lot of obvious differences from the e-reader. It has a word processor called “ which is a word document that you can either take notes in, or possibly print it out. I only use mine for notes. There is also a braille word processor called KeyBRF, and a calculator.
I really like both of these devices very much. I have had my Brailliant bi 40x since July. I use it for school and I also use it to take notes when I’m not in front of a computer.
Braille displays can be used in different types of careers such as customer service representatives or even a writer. In fact, Gabe Vega, my instructor pointed out that using a braille display with my computer could help me out enormously, because I could read what I was writing either while I was listening to the screen reader, or instead of the screen reader.

A Nifty Little Compact Device That Can Fit in your Purse or backpack
Hello readers, what device do you think about when you read the title of this article? Well, it’s “The E-Reader from the National Library Services for the Blind” This is the smallest most compact braille display yet, but it packs a lot of punch. This device can be taken to the doctor’s office, the beauty salon, or even on a trip. This little gadget is even perfect for doing activities require a lot of patience. This little device can also be taken to church, where people can sit quietly and read their prayer books.
This device has a lot of memory on it. I have about 30 books on mine, although I’m not exactly sure how many can fit on this little gadget at any given time. I like using this device rather than carrying those cumbersome braille books. The E-reader can also be paired with a phone or a tablet like most braille displays.
The E-reader fits in a leather case, and it also has a nylon handle for wearing it across your neck or shoulder. It also fits in a leather case, which has a slot on the left so that the power button can be pressed on or off. Above the power button, there is a slot for charging the device. Down below the power button, is a slot to plug in flash drives or digital cartridges. If you move your hand from the left side to the front of the machine, you will see four rectangular buttons and a circular one in the middle. Of the rectangular ones, the two outer ones are longer than the inner ones On the top right corner, there is an earphone jack with a tiny piece of rubber in it to keep dust particles from going in the whole.
Although this device is easy to use when you have set it up with books, the set-up can be a little complex, so I will not give away all the details because the e-reader comes with a hard-copy user manual that is pretty simple to understand. It is tricky if you do not know (ueb) (Unified English Braille) . If you still have trouble, your Braille library is a phone call away.
