In this Faith Lesson, we explore Galatians 5:22–23, where the apostle Paul describes the fruit produced by the Spirit of God in the life of a believer.

Paul contrasts the destructive works of the flesh—common in the pagan world of his time—with the life-giving fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These qualities reveal genuine spiritual maturity.

Jesus taught that a tree is known by its fruit, and Paul builds on that teaching here. The true test of spirituality is not knowledge, status, or success—but whether the Spirit is producing Christ-like character in a person’s life.

In this Faith Lesson, we reflect on Psalm 46:1, which declares that God is our refuge, strength, and ever-present help in times of trouble.

Throughout Scripture, we see images of refuge—cities of refuge, strong towers, and places of safety. Jesus points us beyond physical structures to something greater. He Himself is our refuge, built on the rock, where we can run in moments of crisis and find strength, protection, and peace.

This short devotional encourages believers to trust God as their true refuge when trouble comes.

Who is the man of the Shroud?

In this compelling seminar, leading scholars Dr. Jeremiah Johnston, Dr. Scott Stripling, and Dr. Craig Evans explore one of the most mysterious and studied artifacts in history—the Shroud of Turin.

Presented in partnership with Grace Fellowship and The Bible Seminary, this event dives into the powerful intersection of science, history, and Scripture. The Shroud is a blood-stained linen cloth bearing the image of a crucified man—believed by many to be Jesus of Nazareth. Yet despite decades of scientific analysis, the origin of the image remains unexplained.

In this episode, you’ll discover:
• The historical and biblical context of crucifixion and burial
• Scientific insights and ongoing mysteries surrounding the Shroud
• What the evidence may reveal about the identity of the man on the cloth

Also included is a full walkthrough of the exhibit as it was hosted, giving you a front-row experience of this powerful display.

In this Faith Lesson, we reflect on John 15:5, where Jesus declares, “I am the vine; you are the branches.” This statement is one of the powerful “I am” (ego eimi) declarations found only in the Gospel of John.

Jesus’ words echo Exodus 3:14, where God reveals Himself as “I Am,” a connection the Pharisees immediately recognized as a claim of divinity. Through these statements, Jesus reveals both His full divinity and His humanity—what we call high Christology.

In this Faith Lesson, we reflect on Hebrews 4:12–13, a familiar passage that calls us to think more deeply about what the Word of God truly is.

While Scripture is the recorded Word of God, the Word is ultimately God speaking, and fully revealed in Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh. God’s Word penetrates beyond outward appearances, revealing the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Nothing is hidden from His sight.

This devotional reminds us that we will one day give an account to God alone—the One who truly sees us and lovingly calls us to holiness, sincerity, and faithfulness.

In this Faith Lesson, we reflect on 1 Peter 5:7, where the apostle Peter tells believers to cast all their anxieties on God because He truly cares for them.

In the first century, this message was revolutionary. Governments were harsh, Roman gods were feared but distant, and Christians lived under real threat—especially during the reign of Emperor Nero. In that environment, Peter reminds believers that God is not indifferent. He knows His people, loves them, and invites them to release their fears into His care.

This devotional reassures us that even in troubled times, God is still on His throne—and He still cares deeply for us.

In this Faith Lesson, we reflect on James 1:22, where believers are instructed not only to hear God’s Word, but to live it out.

James, the brother of Jesus, writes with practical wisdom shaped by watching Jesus live out the kingdom of God. He reminds us that faith is demonstrated through action—not as a way to earn God’s favor, but as a response to the grace already given.

In this Faith Lesson, we reflect on Psalm 100:5, where the psalmist declares a powerful truth: “The Lord is good.”

Spoken in the ancient Near East, this statement stood in sharp contrast to the pagan gods of the time—gods who were feared, unpredictable, and unloving. Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, is different. He is faithful, loving, and trustworthy.

The psalm reminds us that we are the sheep of His flock and that the Lord is our Shepherd. He cares for His people, protects them, and provides for their needs. This truth invites us to trust Him and draw near with confidence.

In this Faith Lesson, we reflect on Ephesians 2:8–9, one of the clearest teachings in Scripture on salvation by grace through faith.

God saves us not by our works, but by His grace, received through faith. That grace then becomes an endowment that enables us to live as a blessing to others.

In this Faith Lesson, we reflect on Isaiah 40:31 and the challenge—and blessing—of waiting on the Lord. “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.”

This verse has encouraged believers for generations and is memorably featured in Chariots of Fire. Yet its message is often difficult to live out. Waiting is hard, but Scripture gives us powerful examples of faithful waiting—Abraham and Sarah, Simeon, and Anna—who trusted God’s timing and saw His promises fulfilled.

Isaiah chapter 40 reminds us who God is: the Creator who never grows tired or weary. Because of His strength, we can find renewal when we place our hope in Him.

As the deer pants for streams of water, my soul pants for You, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet? When can I go and meet? When can I meet with God? When can I meet with God? My tears have been my food day and night. While people say to me, "Where is your god?" Where is your god? Yet these things I remember as I pour out my soul. How I used to go. Used to go. To the house of God. House of God. Under the protection of the Mighty One. Under His guard. With shouts of joy and praise. Joy and praise. Among the festive throng. Festive throng. Why, my soul, are you downcast?

Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will praise Him, my Savior and my God. Put your hope in God, for I will praise Him, my Savior and my God.

My soul is downcast within me. Therefore, I will remember You from the land of the Jordan, the promised land. The heights of Hermon, the tallest peak, from Mount Mizar. Deep calls to deep. Hey, deep! In the roar of waterfalls. Roaring falls. Your waves and breakers. Waves and breakers. Have swept over me. By day, the Lord directs His love. At night, His song is with me.

I say to God, my rock, "Why have You forgotten me?" Why must I go on mourning, oppressed by the enemy? My bones suffer agony, my foes taunt me, saying all day long, "Where is your god?" Where is your god? Why, my soul, are you downcast? Oh, why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will praise Him, my Savior and my God. Put your hope in God, for I will praise Him. My Savior and my God. Why, my soul, are you downcast? Oh, why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will praise Him, my Savior and my God. Put your hope in God, for I will praise Him, my Savior and my God. Put your hope in God, for I will praise Him, my Savior and my God. My Savior and my God.

First Fridays with TBS Alum Jacob Figueroa

Join us on this episode of First Fridays as TBS alum Jacob Figueroa discusses his groundbreaking new book, The Trinity in Eden: Tears of Sorrow, Tears of Joy.

Purchase book at: https://www.nehemiahpress.com/post/the-trinity-in-eden

Historic Christianity has long affirmed the New Testament's portrayal of God as three distinct yet unified persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. While the term “Trinity” isn’t found in the Bible, it has become a cornerstone of Christian doctrine, sparking centuries of debate among scholars.

But what about the Old Testament? In The Trinity in Eden, Jacob Figueroa explores the linguistic and theological implications of the Bible's oldest narratives, from creation to the tower of Babel. His research delves into God’s names, plural pronouns, and the curse of the serpent, uncovering evidence that the concept of the Trinity has roots as ancient as Scripture itself.

Tune in to this enlightening discussion about faith, history, and the profound mystery of the Triune God!

Pre-Wired by Design: Exploring Faith, Science, and the Creator's Masterpiece

Hosted by Grace Fox, a Master of Arts student in Biblical History and Archaeology, Pre-Wired by Design is a podcast where science and faith meet in the exploration of God’s intricately designed creation. As a former neuroscientist turned biblical archaeology student, Grace brings a unique perspective to the intersection of science, scripture, and the Creator’s handiwork.

Each episode blends Grace’s scientific expertise with her deep-rooted faith to explore the wonders of the natural world—especially the mind—through a biblical lens. From groundbreaking research on neural circuits to the history of ancient civilizations, Pre-Wired by Design is for those seeking to understand the harmony between modern science and biblical truth.

Drawing on her background in neuroscience, biology, and archaeology, Grace reflects on the evidence that suggests the brain’s complex and pre-wired neural circuits weren’t the product of random evolutionary processes, but rather a purposeful design. Her passion for the Creator’s work shines through as she shares insights into the latest scientific discoveries while weaving in theological reflections that strengthen faith and illuminate the glory of God.

Whether you’re a science enthusiast, a Bible scholar, or simply curious about how faith and science can coexist, this podcast offers thoughtful conversations, engaging research, and a reminder that all of creation declares the glory of God. Join Grace each week as she unpacks the stunning evidence of a Creator who designed everything, from the cells in our brains to the ancient ruins that testify to the Bible’s historicity.

Episodes include:

  • The neuroscience behind the brain's “pre-wired” circuits
  • The intersection of modern scientific discovery and Biblical truth
  • How biblical archaeology sheds light on the historical accuracy of Scripture
  • Exploring the natural world through the lens of a biblical worldview

Tune in to Pre-Wired by Design—where science and faith converge to reveal the extraordinary design of our Creator.

The Israel Dilemma – Ancient Prophecies | @PatternsOfEvidence with Tim Mahoney & Dr. Scott Stripling

In this special episode of the TBS Podcast, filmmaker Timothy Mahoney investigates the ongoing conflict in Israel, often tied to the belief that the Bible provides the Israelis' divine claim to the land, based on God's covenant with Abraham, Moses, and the Israelites.

Get tickets at https://www.patternsofevidence.com/

Mahoney explores ancient prophecies made by Moses that predicted Israel’s rise as a kingdom, its fall due to breaking the covenant, the scattering of its people, their persecution, and their eventual return to the land. Through archaeological evidence and expert insights, he raises deeper questions about Israel's chosen status, its suffering, and what these ancient predictions mean for the present day.

This episode is part one of a two-part series, The Israel Dilemma – Ancient Prophecies, offering a compelling look at the historical and prophetic roots of Israel's complex journey.

Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement designed to encourage radical generosity as a part of everyday life and TBS is participating!

We are a non-profit, and 86% of our annual budget comes as donations. As a private institution, we don’t receive any money from the state, but we are still able to provide the highest quality education to our students… that’s because of our amazing donors.

By donating on GivingTuesday, you’ll help us meet our goal of $50,000 raised in one day! What will that investment do?

  • Support our programs, which include our already popular and impactful Masters of Divinity and Masters of Arts, including our Biblical History and Archaeology degree, Biblical Studies, Biblical Language and Culture, and Biblical History degrees.

  • Help us fund potential new degree programs, including a Master of Counseling, Mission, Christian Education, and Leadership.

  • Your generosity will allow students to feel, see, and hear everything online that they would if they were in person. Our DE students are from all over the US, and some of our students are even currently serving in undisclosed locations on the mission field overseas.

We are looking forward to GivingTuesday. Our donors are so generous and committed to the cause of providing truly powerful biblical education, and we can’t wait to see how we pull together to make a huge impact on GivingTuesday, November 30th!

In this episode of the TBS Podcast, we continue the TBS Parenting series in the Book of Ruth, God provided an opportunity for Boaz to marry Ruth. Boaz had to step up and do what was necessary to fulfill that opportunity. Even though Boaz wanted to be the redeemer, He knew He had to submit to God’s plan. He knew that God would work things out. God put opportunities in Ruth’s path all along the way so that she could step up and work to help care for Naomi. Ruth did her part by staying with Naomi, working in the field, and making herself available to Boaz. God took care of everyone, because they stepped up into the opportunities He placed in front of them.

In this episode of the TBS Podcast, we continue the TBS Parenting series in the Book of Ruth, both Ruth and Boaz are described as having godly character. They had integrity, which means they did the right thing, even when it was hard. Even though Naomi told Ruth to participate in an odd custom, Ruth trusted Naomi’s care for her and did what she asked. Throughout the interaction between Ruth and Boaz, Ruth’s integrity is brought up and praised. Ruth knew she could trust Naomi because Naomi wanted the best for her. And she knew she could trust Boaz because he had proven to be a man of impressive character to her personally, and to the whole town.

In this episode of the TBS Podcast, we continue the TBS Parenting series in the Book of Ruth, Men were the providers in the culture Ruth lived in. But Ruth and Naomi didn’t have any husbands or sons to take care of their family. So, Ruth knew she would need to work hard to make sure they had enough to eat. Ruth was constantly going above and beyond. She lived a life of service. Boaz recognized her servant’s heart. He had even heard of Ruth before he ever met her. People saw how committed and loyal Ruth was to serving Naomi and God. They admired Ruth. Boaz admired Ruth. When Boaz saw how genuine Ruth was, he wanted to serve her. So, Boaz provided what Ruth needed, and more! He made sure Ruth was taken care of. By going above and beyond, Boaz served both Ruth and Naomi.

In this episode of the TBS Podcast, the question is raised Who Are You When It's Hard? In the Book of Ruth, Naomi and her family went through a lot of difficult stuff. First, they had to move to a completely different place, where the culture was totally different. (Culture = what people from a certain place say, think, do, and believe.) They must have felt like outsiders. Elimelech’s name means “God is king,” which shows us his family believed in and worshipped the one true God. Moab was a place where the people believed in and worshipped false gods. Everything Moabites did was centered around their beliefs. It would have been hard to live in a place where people said and did things that were against what Elimelech and his family believed.

Journey through the week leading to Christ's death and resurrection. TBS President Dr. K. Lynn Lewis starts by reading the entry of Jesus on a donkey found in John 12:12-19.

John 12:12-19 - The Triumphal Entry of Jesus

12 On the next day, when the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 they took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and beganshouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, indeed, the King of Israel!” 14 Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written: 15 “Do not fear, daughter of Zion; behold, your King is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.”16 These things His disciples did not understand at the first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of Him, and that they had done these things for Him.17 So the [a]people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead, continued to testify about Him. 18 For this reason also the [b]people went to meet Him, because they heard that He had performed this [c]sign. 19 So the Pharisees said [d]to one another, “You see that you are not accomplishing anything; look, the world has gone after Him!”

He has a concern to deal fairly with the difficult passages of the Bible in order to help agnostics such as he once was to understand God’s love, the reasonableness of the Christian faith, and the reliability of all of God’s Word.
