Have you ever stared at your reflection in the mirror and asked
“what is wrong with me?” or “why am I the way I am?”
I have. Countless times! Accompanied by tears and growing hopeless by the episode.
We all face some kind of inner blocks, self judgement and our own thoughts and emotions holding us back from living the life we feel and desire to live. Some of us more than others. The key is, are we really asking the question “why am I the way I am?” Or passing it as self judgement?
What if we asked “what happened to me?” Instead of “what’s wrong with me?”
Find out in this podcast how to deal with your inner critic and internal blocks that keep you from showing up the way you want to in life.
Thank me later.
Or just share it so it serves someone else

When was the last time you did a values check? Do your values stand the test of your self awareness and authenticity? Or maybe you’ve never really taken the time and conscious attention to explore what your values are. You need a values tune-up.
This episode is for you.
I’m back from a few months of selfless sacrifice in service of 11 humans who inhabited our home for the summer. Selfless, or so I thought.
Until I got exhausted, drained and started resenting it all.
**Naturally, I’ve chosen to talk about selfishness for the first episode of the 3rd season of Unchiningme Podcast.
Why oh why do we worship selflessness? Is it really benefiting those we say we love? At what cost?**
Listen in and begin your own selfishness revolution!

It’s the prescriptive least considered; that of the individual in a relationship with a person suffering from depression.
In this episode, I ask my husband to share his experience, realizations, rock bottom moment together with helpful tips, do’s and don’t s for supporting your loved one on their mental health struggles without putting your own at risk.
It's no secret, we women have suffered alienation from our sense of self worth and authenticity. In this soulful chat with Adey Chekol, we explore where and how we lost our true selves to all the layers and years of conditioning in a patriarchal society. Adey leads us to a place within us that intuitively knows it's power and is rooted in it's worth.
You may not even be aware of just how much of it you do. You probably have a list of labels you have attached to yourself, limiting and chaining your soul. And of course you unconsciously move about the world labeling all that you see, most importantly, people you come across.
This episode highlights just how unfortunate and dangerous this compulsive labeling is. It will challenge you to see things from a different perspective, bring powerful awareness to the present moment, give you some tools to practice non-labeling and benefit from the true connection and joy it offers life.
I've become somewhat of an expert in weaving out silver linings from challenging situations in life. Nevertheless, finding the good dealing with depression has brought to my life took a long while. In this episode, I share profound lessons and insights I know I cold not have learned and practiced had it not been for those dark seasons.
I also add a list things to say to the person in your life who is currently suffering from depression, yes, even if it is you.
When you have a why, they say you can bear almost any how. That’s how powerful a life lived on purpose is.
This week, I bring to you a chat with a dear friend of mine who also motivates and Inspires me as she does many other women, men and youth. She is the essence of strength, wisdom and love in an imperfectly perfect way. She is as human as they come and as divine as a pure soul. She errs, she is vulnerable and courageous to begin each day anew. She is the conscious Mother.
In this episode, we talk all about her and this This Mother's Day, we celebrate her.
We are back with Season two ya'll! In this episode, I reflect on how transformative my time way has been and how I am moving on to a different season as I resurface from a period of dormancy.
Using a powerful analogy of a game of cards, I dive into the stages of change: what each of them are characterized by, what each demand from us and how best we can make use of them.
Let's embark on a new season together!
Why do we resist change? Why do we fear transitions, slowing down, speeding up? Why must we remain at peace with the ever changing realities that govern life?
This is my reflection on what I contemplated in the span of the last several weeks. Election in America, looming civil war in Ethiopia, my personal and familial needs and limitations which demand a slower pace....I fought and resisted it all.
Listen in for the realization that was born out of it all.

She was born in Ethiopia to Ethiopian and Eritrean parents. After her family moved to Washington DC when she was only 3 years old, her life as what she calls “Nerdy Black Immigrant Tomboy Buddhist Weirdo” would take her deep into herself in a yearning to find True Belonging.
At almost 50 years old and after surviving a three-time death sentence ushered by stage 3 and 4 cancer, she found her purpose and light being a meditation teacher, author and speaker.
She met with me over a zoom call to chat about her life, her book “You Belong” and her Ethiopian-Eritrean background as it relates to her journey.
You want to listen to her share her story and unpack what True belonging is, how we lost it and where we can find it.

Social interaction is a crucial part of being a human being. The world has become a place that even in quarantine, we are still able to maintain a constant flow of interaction through technology and social media. This allows us to stay connected but it also exposes us to not-so-positive interactions with others. While misunderstandings and conflicts are unavoidable, the mistake we often make is assuming the unpleasant comments aimed at us are really about us.
