In this episode, we welcome a genuinely innovative mind in the SeeArts Podcast - Katharina Aguilar: she is the co-founder of 7Places – an innovation agency in Stuttgart focusing on spaces:
In the conversation, we discussed creating "co-spaces" as future micro living where everyday needs can be met within walkable distance. Katharina presented two of her current projects that she passionately pursues which also s. We wrapped up with an artistic perspective on how to reclaim public space. It was a total treat, and Katharina was mesmerized with her insightful wisdom and charming way that motivated me to reshape my space for more creativity.
More information about 7places:
7places dedicate themselves to reinvent our living spaces.
They create and build spaces like restaurants, hotels, public spaces, offices, and stores in a new way using inspiration, emotion, and technology. With their philosophy of "Less talking, more acting," they explore and design future spaces at the intersection of technology and architecture.
Additionally, they develop the 7places App that helps us find inspiring places and events in our daily lives.
Katharina followed her calling and passion for space and innovation after spending almost a decade in the automotive industry.
The funny side fact is that over a decade ago, Katharina and Fabian were studying together International Business in our dual career at Bosch and IBM, so it is an inspiring catch-up, and I am sure our listeners are as excited as me what these 7 places look like and to learn about these spatial dimensions

Radha Agrawal is a shining powerhouse. After experiencing frustration with the nightlife scene, she felt the urge to bring people together and create real connections and community. Wanting to maintain all the things she loved about going out (dancing, creativity, connection) but leave the unsavory spilled drinks and bouncers behind, she launched Daybreaker, a sober early morning dance party that now has over 500K members who participate worldwide.
Radha and Fabian get to know each other during a 2015 San Francisco Daybreaker and the Giant DUNDU was a special surprise for the dancing crowd in the Bay Area. The reconnection after her book launch in Los Angeles while Fabian was performing with the Giants of Light at the World´s Best concluded in a ecstatic dance with Baby Soleil in Radah´s belly and the pandemic invited them to cross the big pond virtually and have DUNDU join the Digital Dance parties.
Radha shares her entrepreneurial spirit with a three step approach how to find a start-up idea and showcases powerfully why the mindset of iteration is perfection helps to get things started. With her fam of Daybreaker she organises massive online dance-outs and strives to build Joy institutes around the globe. You can experience this Joy practise with the on-demand online training D.O.S.E. (14 days for free) that helps you to connect your neurotransmitter into a vibrant cocktail.
In the conversation we covered her journey out of investment banking into becoming a experience designer and community architect, the power of rituals and the need for Belonging.
We also recommend to read her Book Belong which is a masterpiece as even before the pandemic the world has been in a state of disconnection and Belong brings powerful tools into the game to "go in to go out" and illustrates in a very visual way how we have to rethink old structures (updating the pyramid of needs)
45 minutes with the super spreader of energy just dance away and we can't wait to play together again
As if that wasn’t incredible enough, Radha is the Co-Founder of THINX period underwear which she created with her twin sister Miki Agrawal, is launching a new business, LiveItUp, and now she’s launching her new book, Belong, about finding your people, creating meaningful community, and living a more connected life.

It is celebration time and time to say thank you. In this episode look back full of gratitude and reflect the inside of 19 episode with change makers, artists and entrepreneurs and guide you on the outlook what to expect.
For a lecture, that I was giving at at University about Managing and Leading in Arts & Cultural space, I reflected on the wisdom that was shared with me - the comparison & combination of the business and art hats, that we have to be switching from time to time, the inflection points that are opening these "windows of imagination" and as well the technological advances that are there to come.
For the future, I am looking forward to work on a higher frequency ( weekly) and to produced more content out of the wisdom with infographics, blog articles and sound bites.
The topics have been wide spread so far from my areas of interest and passion ranging from puppetry to workshop facilitation, agency work, storytelling all the way to the social impact.
With the in-depth series, I want to give a more profound but also diverse insight and kick-starting with the "Masters of Clowning" one area that has opened my eyes profoundly. From there on, I am super excited in the advances to technology (AR,VR,AI) but as well trends such as NFT / Crypo Art and how this provides options to create new business models as an artepreneur / entrepenartist or futartist.
Also announcing the ideas around my book "Create your own fusion" that will be accompanied with a workshop series and connecting the dots of my journey to kickstart the authorship voyage.
Once more, a big thank you to all the helping hands on the way, the listeners, the interviewees and to You.

*WHO WE ARE***
Phare Phare Ponleu Selpak was founded more than a quarter of a century ago, by nine Cambodians, who grew up in a refugee camp after surviving the genocide of the Khmer Rouge, and their French arts teacher. Resilience and hope has been in Phare’s DNA from the very beginning, and from a simple arts school it blossomed into the multi-faceted creative hub it is today.
Phare educates and trains thousands of children and youth who come from challenging backgrounds. Most receive a mainstream education which helps them thrive as adults, but others become artists, performers and musicians who keep Cambodia's creative culture alive after its almost total destruction by the Khmer Rouge. We offer them social support, education and arts programs so they can build their future and support their families through creative careers.
*WHY THIS EVENT IS ESSENTIAL FOR OUR SURVIVAL***
Over the years we have sought not to rely on handouts for our work and reached 60% financial self-sustainability through ticket sales to our celebrated and famous circus. Unfortunately, COVID-19 shut down our performances and left us with a dramatic shortfall. Today we are very concerned about our community and the most vulnerable who depend on our support on a daily basis. We need to raise money to keep our life-saving, life-changing programmes alive during this crisis.

Today, we are talking about the future of the events industry and I have the big pleasure to welcome Christopher Werth with us – he is the Director of Strategy & Concept of VOK DAMS – globally leading event agency head-quartered in Wuppertal with offices from Shanghai to New York and Sao Paulo. He has made an interesting professional journey that has led him to this challenging position, and I can´t wait to get his global perspective of the future of our beloved meeting and events industry, the creative surprises of 2020 and what to expect in the future with a look into technological advances, the role of the arts and the methodology Vok Dams uses to create meaningful encounters and stay ahead.
In the conversation, we explore current technologies such as VR and Christopher reveals his passion for both the opera and gaming. He takes us on his journey from assistant director in theatres, via stations as EXPO2020, and copywriting jobs into live communication. Today it feels as a perfect fusion and looking backwards it does totally make sense, but on the road it wasn't clear at all. It was about following the passion and taking the leap of faith in the right moments
He shared the analogy of the story of "hare & tortoise" and how it relates to the slow and quick hunches in the creative process hence showcasing the power and importance of creative (self-)confidence.
A fruitful discussion and exchange of the flow of events, adrenalin in the digital arena and 6 major steps to take into consideration if you want to create a events that matter:
Hybrid is here to stay.
Concept is key and below 6 spices Christopher mentioned
1st: Interaction, participation, co-creation
2nd: Sensory experience, haptic moment
3rd: For digital - plan it shorter episodes - not full days
4th: Timing and precise dramturgy
5th: environment for networking:Learn from TV - they are doing a lot to make it look interesting
6th: The Power of Content:
--> if you mix these 6 factors, you can have a successful (digital) event

Today, we are talking about creative pivots and the Event Design Collective has been shaping the way towards better events. The whole events industry got massively disrupted and we want to ask Ruud Jansen about the state of the union of events: The Switzerland based Entrepreneur Ruud Janssen has been an innovator and game changer in the Hospitality and Meetings & Events Industry since 1994. With his business partner Roel Frissen he co-created Event Canvas methodology and with an evergrowing community, this collective aims at creating common language for Meetings & Events.
Ruud shares with us with story of growing up in different countries around the globe and experience a variety of cultures with a fascination for learning languages.
For him the event canvas is what sheet music is to musician. A way to decode and collaboratively understand that the goal of an event is to create a certain change within the stakeholders and ultimately create value.
The power of a piece of paper lays in the context that people can relate to it and how memories and stories used to be shared, the printing press allowed the further spreading and learning of the past knowledge beyond verbal storytelling. The event canvas takes the gut feeling that we all have and makes it more accessible and visible.
In the process, that I have gone through as well to be come a Certified Event Designer, there are certain challenges as a team but this process showcases once more that if you are learning together, you are staying together as the curious way of learning something also bonds synapse and at the same time powerful human connection are built.
Nobody likes to change but in the present moment we need to get digital dexterity to stay on top of our game what Ruud accomplished with his team through continuously testing, prototyping and setting a certain standard. (e.g. a spare modem!!)
He stays motivated through learning and in his mastermind practise he appreciates the work of Paul Rulkens and his theme of strategic quitting.
An interesting way to discover the digital pivot is for Ruud that awareness that the from home facilitation allows him some 60-70 days due to no travelling. He recommends to use these times for new experiences and not doing more of what has already been done. HIs master decompression hack is the alphorn which also helped him to become a more reliable member of the local musical community.
He recommends to hack your own creativity in talking and listening to inspiring persons and explore unexplored spaces together with them. Meanwhile, he loves these adventures, there is also some highly systemic parts of his life e.g. the rhythmic clock of his dogs.
The main chance of events from an organisational perspective is as well that is gives an outside person a DNA of the company - a gradient of the abilities and on the long run, events can be also viewed as "living organism" with a certain human note to it - meaning that events that have happened for more than two decades might be in a mid-life crisis with the need to reinvent and other events going through a teenage phase or are still in a diaper-start-up mode. It is interesting to discover the rejuvenation potential or at least stay young at heart.
For the online facilitation, it requires some ability to improvise and think three steps ahead, but at the same time one hack is to point out upfront that "if we don't break anything, we aren't experiencing" hard enough as a kind of jail free card with connotation to celebrate failure.

Today, we are diving into the world of puppetry and I am so excited to have Caroline Bernier Dionne with me. Since 2007, she has integrated puppetry into her multidisciplinary artistic practice. Her many talents include multiple styles of puppet manipulation, interpretive movement, clowning, stilt-walking, and figure skating. Caroline graduated with a degree in theater and worked for several theater companies, film, and television. Recently, she performed on ice with Cirque du Soleil on the touring show Axel. She investigates the intersections between live performance and cinematographic capture and Caroline loves to share her work with the local puppetry community and connect puppeteers all over the globe.
In the podcast, we exchange about Giant puppets, the importance of breath and the early magical moments of truth while getting to know collective animated puppets and the bond it shapes.
From there, we explored the possibilities that digital formats bring along for puppetry but as well for the promotion of the arts.

Today, I am welcoming juggling artist Manuel Mitasch at the SeeArts Podcast – together with his brother Christoph, he started Jonglissimo a top-notch juggling compagnie from Austria that has won several world records and international prizes. We would have had the pleasure to finally collaborate in a corporate show with DUNDU in Amsterdam but then Corona hit got us as well. After Viktor Kee and Anthony Trahair, it is the 3rd juggling interview partner and I am excited how this new generation approaches juggling, turning points on the journey and their creative routines and visions for this uncertain future in these unprecedented times.
In the episode Manuel reveals his training routines, how he enters the flow state and as well moments of glory but as well some "Fuck-Up" juggling stories that were part of the journey. Manuel shares with you how he combines the technological side and advances of their shows with the business side and obviously the continuous improvement of their juggling skills. Last but not least, there are still a few visions on his bucket list that motivate him to jump straight out of bed each day and beyond that he is a wonderful open human being dedicated to driving the juggling scene forward and giving as well hope to young artists, as there will be work - keep on doing your thing.

In the third inspiration solo we are covering breath: Both physically with some exercises from Yoga and puppetry but as well as the metaphor for a world that has gotten out of breath and that is seeking for a reconnection. The long breath in the context of the cultural life that has been shutdown or is actually in a second lock down describes as well the need to stay patient and stay #coronacreative during these pandemic times.
Let us breathe consciously and reconnect with this inner force that is the only thing guiding us from the very first moment until the bittersweet end.

We are lifting up with Marie and her works of art into another dimension: The essence and power of her works is generating volatile states of suspension and allowing the spectators to witness these precarious equilibriums in awe while leaving and allowing the open space for interpretation in a collective awe. Marie takes us on her story how she uses physical and natural phenomena and the power of observation to create poetic moments. In her literally boundless experiments at the edges, she leads her audience beyond their usual perception, telling her very own story while leaving a bit of romantic freedom to the viewers to decide for themselves, how deep they are ready to go.
The motivation for Marie Lienhard's artistic practice is the fascination for the elasticity of our self- and externally controlled perceptual behaviour, which she questions using the limits of physical laws and a constant search for fragile equilibriums. Installation, virtual reality, performance, photography and drawing are the starting point of her internationally represented works and exhibitions.

We celebrate our 10th episode with the Art of Storytelling:
We get to know Brendan, who grew up in Australia and at an early age got inspired in the world of contemporary circus with physical storytelling. Touring the world as a kid and training heavily while attending school brought him then into the world of dance and physical theatre:
From creative productions that filled town squares, he had the chance to take part in the ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000.
With 23 years, Brendan changed roles and left the stage behind to bring his own visions as a creative director to his global audiences and followed the increasing personal desire to create something personal and unique: Empowered by a variety of scholarships and development grants, Brendan explored global theater companies (such as Groupe F) and on this journey found is very own style of staging that can be currently witnessed within BattleRoyal:
BattleRoyal in a way describes the struggle and fight of all artists to follow their passion, but also to make a living without simply following a commercial path, and as we learn in the podcast, BattleRoyal has become this sweet spot for Brendan.
Though the Covid-Times also slowed down the "business as usual", it also freed the creative interdisciplinary team from the "regular" noise and allowed a focused inspiring work for the celebration of Esch 2022 as European cultural Capital.
Brendan is an executive creative director with 20+ years of experience in the culture, event, and entertainment sectors. He works at the intersection of creative strategy and emerging technology to help a diverse mix of clients conceptualize and bring new engaging activations to life.
Having spent a career consulting for cultural organizations and corporate enterprises, he had a unique vantage point on how these diverse sectors approach strategy and milestone events.
Over the last 5 years, he has helped to re-tell the intricate histories of several Fortune 500 firms and directed a series of large-scale cultural events throughout Europe and the Middle East.
His base is theatre, however, he´s always indulged in using all available technologies to tell a compelling tale. Brendan spent years on major Olympic and sporting ceremonies and with this background, he established his skills at telling stories to diverse, mass audiences.
In 2018 he co-produced a landmark documentary symphonic film on Berlin and its eclectic subculture. 'Symphony of Now' featured some of Germany's top electronic music acts. And as well as being featured on in-flight programs, SoN toured various festivals, cinemas, and media installations around the world.
The award-winning 'battleROYAL' was his first company and baby. Founded in 2011, they are a diverse team of bold creatives and event professionals, passionately working between the domains of culture and commerce.
We come from theatre, ground-breaking events, and exceptional Olympic ceremonies.
Our mind-set is hybrid. We encourage interactive experiences and authentic engagements. We tell stories in grand dimensions.
The next wave of digitalization that is coming to the events and entertainment markets is exciting. battleROYAL believes that refined and explosive moments can be experienced within the digital domain, with the added benefit of unquestionable reach. Their ability to capture mass audiences with even the most intimate activation is now a reality. And at battleROYAL, the team is passionately implementing these digital strategies into everything they touch.

Anthony takes us on his journey of becoming: Landing in Grenoble at the European Juggling Convention opened his horizon and he couldn't return to the UK where he had graduated in Chemistry but travelled and found then his creative home base in Rome. From there he started blending together different performing and movement disciplines, attended the Dimitri School in Ascona and until today he performs in a unique way and teaches a very holistic approach of performance and art in one of a kind retreats. With his both theatrical and philosophical views, he is contributing to an ever evolving circus scene and is still hungry and more than that full of play.
Fabian was diving in with him into moments of flow, the approaches shared in Pearls of Juggling and as well how he is creativity pivoting with online courses as all live shows are still cancelled.
The conversation led to deeply philosophical topics from the future of education towards areas about give & take and how the balance that we can learn through juggling & movement can also shape our lives.
Biography:
Anthony Trahair is an advocate of the transformative power of play for individuals, groups, processes and just about everything!
Playfulness has played a central role in his activities for many years.
In juggling, in Yoga for children, as facilitator and in life.

In this episode I have three exciting topics for you
a) #Kulturschutzgebiet
b) The Year of Re.......
c) The Arts as Saviour of Humanity (I know it is provocative)
a) We kickstart with a bit of a German lesson:
Kultur-Schutz-Gebiet literally translates into Cultural protected area or a cultural reserve and we are questioning what is a creative space for you? For me, I am see two major areas that we need to foster creativity: Zooming Out and getting inspired in open wide spaces where we can collect inspiration and then Zooming in and connecting the dots in a blackbox setting where we come focus, experiment, destruct and disrupt and prototype.
Ideation meets Realization
In the current situation the Arts & Culture need support as the produced pieces can't be shown in a typical setting with all cultural institutions still closed down or far-distanced from a new normal schedule
What are your creative spaces?
b) From Space into Time
Re translates into back or again in Latin. While I hope we are not going to far back, it is the time to re-flect, re-think, re-imagine and hopefully not re-gret too much but re-start and re-ignite our creative engines. What did you Re-________ in 2020 and how does this shape a possible future for you and your surrounding.
c) Arts as the Saviour
With the ongoing technological change, I am aware of possible concerns but I am still too optimistic that on the long run technology can provide as a human(e) free space to come back to our creative (artistic) heritage: Become creators and shapers again
With the Arts we have a great access point to the Flow state - this peak state of performance when we feel and perform our best. While technology is exponentially growing we have to ride the flow have to become exponentially human in order to create both on an individual but also a group and community level this awareness of the power of human connection & creation. And that is how I see the Arts saving Humanity.
Let us make it happen.

A profound discussion about leaving free space for the audience to co-create and the trust in destiny that sometimes has the power guide our path. Christian and Fabian share openly a story of what it takes to be an artist, how music shapes rooms, what it takes to lead and how to creatively pivot in these unprecedented times to stay relevant while enjoy the intensive family time at home.
Both share the passion to perform on stage but also discovered for themselves the power of sharing their arts in workshops. With Sonic Leadership Christian sets the stage to rethink typical role models and create organisational symphonies.
While the whole industry is waiting for way to go #BackToLive this conversation gives hope and sparks your imagination to stay #coronacreative

In this episode, we are welcoming Peter Cramer into our show. Fabian met Peter at a Mice by Melody Event in Stuttgart back in 2016. Peter shares interesting milestones in his career, gives hints for artists and also evaluates the importance of Social Media for events especially in these times when the roles are redefined in the events industry and the whole world.
More background information:
Peter Cramer began his career as an independent concert promoter in North Rhine-Westphalia. Together with his business partner Rolf Möller, drummer of the punk band "Extrabreit", he organized artist tours, managed an event hall in Hagen, Westf. and organized large public events for the city marketing of Hagen. "Hagen Springe Festival" and "Hagen blossoms" were created by Peter and still take place very successfully every year in the city. In 2000 Peter took up a position as Event Manager in an agency near Mainz and then as Director Event Marketing at the advertising agency Publicis in Hamburg and Erlangen. After a stop over in a PR agency in Hamburg, Peter Cramer founded his own communication agency "Panem et Circenses" in Hamburg in March 2010. Inspired by the possibilities of social media for events, Peter published the first reference book about the symbiosis of social media and events in early 2011. In 2012 he and his agency will focus on online content MICE marketing for international providers in the German-speaking target markets. For the client Switzerland Tourism, the agency designed the first online MICE newsroom for the German-speaking target markets Germany and Austria in 2012. This was the first MICE newsroom for a destination ever. Further online MICE Newsrooms followed and in 2013 the online site and community with the brand "MICEboard" which bundles the content of all MICE Newsrooms and provides event planners with information and inspiration from numerous international destinations. Today, MICEboard is the largest German-speaking online community aimed at event planners from event agencies, companies and associations. Every month the site has numerous visitors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland who use MICEboard to plan their international events, incentives, meetings and congresses.
After MICEboard successfully helps event planners online to generate business, Peter created in 2012 the networking event "MICE by melody" with the aim of bringing suppliers and buyers together for business in real life. "MICE by melody" broke with all the usual rules of similar events and caused quite a stir in the MICE industry worldwide. With the trade events "MICE BOAT" and "MICE PEAK" the agency set new benchmarks in the MICE industry. No other events in the MICE industry worldwide combines online and offline into a hybrid event as intensively as the MICEboard sales and marketing events. The "MICE BOAT" - a trade event on the transatlantic Ocean Liner Queen Mary 2 as part of a sea voyage - is legendary.
December 2018 saw the premiere of the MICEboard Podcast - the first ever podcast for the MICE industry and event industry. Since 2020, "MICEboard Stream TV" complements the podcast with a visual component and the media service offers of the agency. Peter's agency "Panem et Circenses" has created with the brand "MICEboard" a multichannel communication channel through which its international clients, such as the tourism authorities of Switzerland, Singapore, Japan, Catalunya, Vilnius, Riga, Finland, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, UK, Spain, Korea, etc., successfully reach event planners in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Our first guest is the world-renowned juggler & performance extraordinaire Viktor Kee who has inspired Fabian when he learned juggling.
Openly Viktor shares his story of escaping Kindergarden and opening up the magical windows of imagination in the World of Circus: His idols and the inflection points
The audience can witness what drives him as an artist, father but as well social change maker and agency owner and the importance of creating your own formula, that means sourcing from within, what describes for Viktor the ultimate way of really creating and being an artist.
Viktor Kee has been performing on stage since he was six years old, the Ukrainian born juggler is a graduate of the professional Circus School in Kiev. He has won awards at most of the world’s major circus festivals including Cirque de Demain in Paris and the International Circus festival in Monte Carlo. A favorite with audiences around the world, Viktor has performed at the Moulin Rouge, Lido de Paris, the Friedrichstadtpalast in Berlin, the Mirage, and the MGM Grand with Barbra Streisand in Las Vegas, Teatro Zinzanni in Seattle, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and around the world with Cirque du Soleil’s “Dralion”, “Voyage de La Vie” Singapore and currently played a lead character in new Cirque du Soleil show “Amaluna”. In the development of Viktor’s career he has stood on the shoulders of his forefathers in the juggling world. He has pushed the level of artistic expression in juggling to new levels. For Viktor, the world of movement and object manipulation is not only external, but also a physical manifestation of the internal emotional world. It is an ephemeral event that begs to be experienced viscerally as much as visually. Quite possibly the world’s best juggler, Viktor Kee, has developed a unique, mesmerizing style of juggling. A style of performance that melds dance, acrobatics and juggling into a wondrous ballet of sensuality. Along his career on stage Viktor is a Founder and Creative Director of Art Vision Production working on developing and managing other artists. Recently a new step was taking, Viktor has organized a Non-Profit “Viktor Kee Foundation” focusing on giving back to the communities by creating charity missions around the globe where Art Helps the World!

It is done. Probably once you plug in the earphones, I have accomplished a long-awaited goal of mine: My own podcast
Seewald + Arts = SeeArts but the German word See = Lake is also the Ocean that I want us to dive into together and discover new sides of ourselves.
The podcast aims to build the co-creative bridge between arts & business.
In the quick intro session you get to know your host, me, Fabian Seewald and I take you towards my turning points from a Bavarian village to Mexico, where I experience the transformative nature of the arts. Community has been always a crucial part of my life and the global experiences when studying in the US or working in India gave me a rich insight but as well a broad perspective.
As passionate artist & creative but as well experienced-enough to put the business glasses on for impact, we are going to learn and grow together. My global network will be invited for interactive sessions and inspiring solos.
Jumping into an altered consciousness & Kickstarting the #SeeArts #Podcast
Gratitude is so crucial these days and
I am calling it as well #CoronaCreative as I have come to accomplish things that has been on my bucket list for a long time: from the crafting of a new children space with Benjamin Senske over having the longer conversation with dear friends that we have been to busy to before towards finally kickstarting my own Podcast - The SeeArts Podcast with beautiful episodes with Viktor Kee and Ariane Vera (official start on Friday 24th but sneak peak preview now)
I am sending this lifting power & igniting momentum around the globe to use this gifted pause to enter into a new consciousness - a consciousness for humanity and do the things that have been on the important but not urgent list of your life for the Earth.
Sometimes, we are the ones that jump, sometimes we can be the base to help someone else grow and finally, we are all shining together.
Together we can shape the future along with what works for our planet. Let us make it happen.
Right Here.
Right Now.
