Welcome to Rachel Academy podcast, where business meets wellness.

My name is Rachel April Phillips. Inspiring, motivating, and helping business owners do business in the most holistic, balanced, and and meaningful way.

Rachel Academy, the digital heaven for business owners putting their wellbeing first.

What's up? Lovely. Is Rachel here? Hope you've had a wonderful, productive weekend and a exciting week ahead. So I wanted to come up on here. As I promised, I was going to do another live for you guys.

I'm going to be bare and open. I'm going to be raw. I'm going to be real. I am going to share with you a journey that I personally went on myself. And as you can see from the title, Ten Lessons I Learned From Battling With Depression at the Age of 30.

And the reason why I decided to do this live was because yesterday I was honored to be a speaker at a webinar event hosted by Fresh Books and hosted by I Make a Living, which are the same company, but they own different brands. And they invited a couple of guest speakers on there to talk about their journey of being a palatable entrepreneur.

Have they gone through anything where they had to change and be someone else and had to conform and fit into a click or group or a company or change their whole outlook on life just to fit in while growing and building their business? It was a great time. I really enjoyed myself.

Thank you to Yvonne.

Thank you to Irene, part of the Fresh book team, who allowed me to come and share my story.

And in the webinar that we did yesterday, they asked me the question, how come am I open to talk about and why am I open to talk about my journey with depression and why I decided to be very real and very open about my experience. And we were communicating, talking about it. And I thought I didn't really explain really well the reasons why I'm open about talking and free to talk about my journey going through depression.

So you know what I thought? You know, while I'm doing this today? I want to touch on that. If you watched any of my videos or audios online and heard me talk about the journey of depression and maybe if I haven't articulated it clear enough, I thought today would be the day because I'm really, truly from the bottom of my heart, the reason why I want to talk about it, the reason why I feel it's important to talk about it, the reason why I am talking about it, because I want to hopefully help someone out there who might be on that journey of going through depression, who may have been through depression before or that they're stuck at a place where they feel overwhelmed.

This latest episode is from our Startup Tool Box for those of you wanting to launch, run and grow a highly successful business this year.

Rachel Academy the digital heaven for business owners putting their well being first, welcome to my five membership site ideas that you can start as a business owner, a freelancer, or a student wanting to start a side hustle.

A membership site is an excellent way for you and your business to earn recurring income. However, deciding on what kind of membership site you should start can get a little tricky.

This means that you will need to brainstorm for possible membership site ideas. Your membership site needs to revolve around one central idea, which is solving your members problems. This means that you have to have a deep understanding of the challenges and difficulties that your members struggle with and provide them with a practical solution to them.

Once you've determined two to three possible membership site ideas, you have to go through the process of validating the ideas to ensure you won't end up investing too much time and money in an idea that won't be profitable to you. You have to know if your idea is going to work before you start the process of creating your membership site.If you're not sure where to start when it comes to brainstorming and validating a membership site idea.

Here are my top five membership site ideas that have proven to be profitable and that can jump start the process of starting a membership site.

Welcome to another episode of Rachael Academy Podcast.

Who do people say that you are? If you were to ask a family friend or close friend, what would they say that you are good at?

Growing up I would get from my sisters that I was good at certain things, but if I was honest I didn't feel that I had the confidence to pursue them.

As we get older we think we just magically have the confidence to go for what we've berried for so long.

In our latest podcast we discuss how we as individual can begin listening a little closer to what we are drawn too, as this could be the key to us finding more flow in life.

Welcome to another episode to Rachael Academy Podcast, we hope our latest episode finds you well. This episode is from our Personal Tools Box.

Rat Park was a series of studies into drug addiction conducted in the late 1970s and published between 1978 and 1981 by Canadian psychologist Bruce K. Alexander and his colleagues at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada.

Why is Rat Park So Important For Us?

Do we ask questions like: Who do you care about in your life? Who cares about you? When was the last time you spent time with people who are good for you-instead of those who hurt you and foster your drug taking?

These questions may lead us to ask deep questions, such as: Who can we call or spend time with in the next couple of days?

“I promise, I’ll never do it again,”  People lie and that’s the reality we live in.

Men promise themselves that they’ll find the perfect person someday, they’ll date her, court her, and successfully keep her. In the meantime, they tell themselves they’ll date around, have some sex, and enjoy their lives.

Clearly this does more harm than good.

I’ve been through so many ups and downs in the last 28 years, as am sure you have too as a woman. I can't begin to imagine what it would be like to feel all the pains all over again.

So why do men F!!K up?

Who knows.

If you know you have something good, you do everything in your power to keep it, right? But the fact is, many men that we know just seem to end up messing everything up and losing everything they love.

In our latest podcast we discuss all this and more.

If you know a man and feel he would benefit from this podcast, do share it with them.

You were born to be great. Yes you were.

Just as this beautiful quote states "Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them."

At the end of the day the destination will always be greatness.

Now when we talk about greatness we know that greatness means and should be mean different things for all of us.

Some of us have gone through so many ups and downs, pains and hurt that the thought of being great or having greatness inside us is to hard to comprehend.

During my years as a business owner and have the privilege to have worked some amazing people and brands, I know one thing for sure! Greatness has nothing to do with our background, upbringing, money in our bank account, but so much to do with our worthiness.

We all don't feel worthy all the time if we're honest and luckily greatness has nothing to do with this also.

Listen in to our latest podcast from our Personal Development Tool Box as Omar and Rachael discuss the path to discovering our greatness. Remember if you like to be a guest on our show, you can fill out our short form here.

Hello my lovely, welcome to another episode from Wake Up Mondays with Rachael Academy.

We want to take this time to thank all our new listeners and regular listeners to our show. Our show would be nothing without you.

In this weeks wake up Mondays we're going to talk about a topic that is very close to our hearts.

When we are able to accept things in life, including ours and other peoples life changes, we find a way to take charge of whatever comes our way. When we’re in command of more things in our lives, this helps us to see how we are able to do better and develop the power to better our personal life.

When we learn to accept what is, we’ll learn to discover more about ourselves and our potential.

Rigidity in life will impact not only on ourselves, but on others, and will make our lives difficult when change is necessary or forced upon us. No-one is perfect, and no-one knows everything there is to know.

We hope that you enjoy this episode.

Until next time!

What is your purpose?

Do you know what it is?

And does purpose actually matter?

Here are 3 quotes I found that say a lot about what purpose means to so many of us out there. By the way there are around 1 Million quotes online about purpose so it's fair to say it's a big deal to so many of us out here.

Quotes

  • Allow your passion to become your purpose, and it will one day become your profession. ...
  • There is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living. ...
  • If you can't figure out your purpose, figure out your passion.

So in our latest episode we're going to be discussing what purpose means to us, how we found our purpose and how you can find yours too.

There is no secret formula we're going to share here, but what we've found over the last 16 years that has worked for us.

Welcome to another episode of Rachael Academy podcast. I trust our latest episode finds you well. Are you a man in business but find that you're not getting the long for support that you need from your spouse?

Are you a spouse of a business owner or entrepreneur and your struggling how to best help your partner and support them in growing their business?

In the beginning, I thought it was going to be a breeze when my husband, joined me working full-time in my business. If anyone could do it, we could! We already had a healthy relationship built on trust and respect.

We communicated well.

We both strongly believed in what we were doing. We understood the need to help each other with the children, keeping the house, and with the business. We planned to allow for fluctuations in income to keep stresses over money to a minimum.

Yet I still wasn’t prepared.

For anyone considering working with their spouse, here are some great ways both of you can work together in harmony.

Welcome lovelies to another episode to Rachael Academy podcast, hope our latest podcast finds you well.

Would you like to become a business of change?

And if so why should we go on this journey?

Throughout our lives, we are subjects of influence. This influence dictates the way we feel and the way we act. Our sources of influence have the power to change our own world, our extended family, our communities and the world at large.

If most of us are honest, we really don't like change. We're all creatures of comfort.

Resistance to change has at its heart a fear of change and of failure. Therefore, a new way of working is undesirable. By us providing a positive vision of the future and connecting ourselves with that vision to our personal values, we'll begin to make the undesirable desirable.

In our latest podcast, we share 8 ways we can become businesses and agents of change and influence in the world.

Welcome to another episode of Wake up Monday this week we're going to talk about Values. How To Develop Our Core Values In Life Wake Up Mondays

How would you define your values?

Before you answer this question, you need to know what, in general, values are. Your values are the things that you believe are important in the way you live and work.

They (should) determine your priorities, and, deep down, they're probably the measures you use to tell if your life is turning out the way you want it to.

When the things that you do and the way you behave match your values, life is usually good – you're satisfied and content.

But when these don't align with your personal values, that's when things feel... wrong. This can be a real source of unhappiness.

During COVID there have been many times where I felt I should just give up and close doors. And then my mind started going back to how I used to make money in my early days of the internet. And I remembered back to the days of affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing for me back in 2015 was all about trying to find as many products as possible to throw at my kitchen table so to speak and close my eyes and see which one would remain standing.

Many years have gone, and I've learnt a lot since then and I was able to find away I could add affiliate marketing into current business. In this latest episode we discuss affiliate marketing and how you can add affiliate program strategies into your existing business.

This week is all out developing the confidence to showcase yourself in a world that is packed with potential mini us?

How can we successfully showup online authentically and with confidence?

At first blush, fear of success doesn’t sound like much of a fear. But it’s very real and it can hold you back in a big way. It’s probably not success itself that you fear, but the potential price of success. Sometimes, it’s your own behind-the-scenes manipulations that keep tripping you up on the road to success. What is the fear of success? Fear of success is when you have an ongoing fear of succeeding, so much so that you might be inadvertently self-sabotaging. It’s not that you think you’re incapable of succeeding. It’s more about the fear of change that may come and whether you’re up for it.

This weeks guest is Best selling Author, Speaker and Coach Lira Kay.

30 Years Experience in Transformation, Therapy & Personal Growth. Track Record of Successful Clients Around the Globe. Artist, Wife and Mother of Five Daughters. Best Selling Author and International Speaker. Awarded Woman Entrepreneur.

Lira shares her journey to finding her why and how she developed the confidence to showup more in business and life.

Conversations between the sexes is no new thing. Conversations have been going on for millenniums and things don't seem to have changed. No huge progress to write home to mum about. Though we might be in 21st centaury the same old problems and challenges are still faced by many.

  • Equality between men and women.
  • The pay gap between men and women
  • Sexual harassment allegations is at an all record high.

So what are we still doing wrong?

Why with all the advancements of technology in the world, society still lags behind when it comes to gender equality?

We discus all this and more on this weeks episode. Don't forget you can listen in on more episode by visiting https://www.rachaelacademy.com/podcast/

According to research 2020 was the highest record breaking year for people starting businesses. In the USA alone 4000 business was started in one month alone.

Did covid then have a positive affect in some areas of industry that some of us didn't know about?!? :(

We would be foolish to think that all of those 4000 businesses that started were successful. Many of those dreamers were probably not starting their business for the right reason, rather than a love and passion for something it was out of share panic! and not knowing what to do with their current circumstance that we all found ourselves when covid hit

Success can come to those who venture out to start their dream business. It came for me 16 years ago and am still at it many years later.

But what does it really take to build a successful business?

I'm sure there are many great information out there on this subject that you can find by just searching on google - that will tell you their secrets to building a successful and sustainable business.

I'm going to come from it from my own personal experience.

My latest episodes of podcast comes from my academy of e-courses 'My Rachael Academy. I offer particle business and life lessons and advice through audio for other would be entrepreneurs who have ether embarked on their own entrepreneurial journey and are finding it more of a nightmare than a dream and for those lonely bewilder souls just longing for help to get their dream business off the ground.

In my latest clusters of episode coming every couple of days after this one. I will be sharing my secrets of how I got this far and kind of taking you behind the planning stages of launching my business.

I put the whole thing into a short e-book and then I decided to make it into a mini audio cause on 'My Academy'

I hope the information here helps you along your journey of entrepreneurship. No matter where along the journey you're at, any information that helps us do better and be better is always a good thing.

Coming up with a business idea and starting a business can seem overwhelming and complicated. There are so many things you have to consider from coming up with an excellent idea to registering a company, all the way to business planning, fundraising and much more.

I would love for you to continue the conversation and the learning with me over at Rachael Academy and maybe you'll stop by for a little chat and say hi!   Until next time.

Mental health is a real issue that effects the UK population and am sure effects the world population on a larger scale. Especially during these difficult times we have all been facing worldwide during lockdown.

When we approach the subject of mental health, there are so many of us that feel uncomfortable with the subject. Why is that?

Is it because so many of us feel that mental health problems only happen to a select few in society? Or is it because so many of us just don't know how to deal with it.

I myself went through a level of mental breakdown.

It was 14 years ago and I went through a year of depression. From what I've learnt from my own personal experience is that mental breakdown comes about when we feel we are the only person going through a series of embracing situations in life that come our way, and we blame ourselves even if was no fault of us, we are the ones left with having to pick up and deal with the broken pieces.

In our latest podcast, training psychologist and counsellor, Omar Zac Phillips, founder of The Idea of a Man website and project that helps men to deal with difficult issues that men face in the UK and worldwide as the men suicide statics are seeing a growth in this group in the UK and the world

We sit down with to discuss the issue of mental health and how we can deal with it better as entrepreneurs and business owners. And use the lessons in this podcast to better equip us for business and life.

Brenden understands that our audience need to walk away captivated, and above all, inspired to master the art of communication. It should be seen as something to look forward to rather than a burden that must be overcome.

It all begins with impact.

Despite all the presentations I’ve given over my life, I still remember to this day how scared I was to post my first YouTube video.

I didn’t look like anything in my workshops or presentations, but I went ahead with this project for one reason.

Impact.

A wise friend once told me that I couldn’t possibly coach every human being on Earth with the limited time I had in my life, so I needed to go on video to share my message with the world. I got over my fear, practiced 100’s of times on camera until I was finally able to say that I was “YouTube Ready”.

All’s to say that when you care about others and only want to add value, you’ll be able to overcome any fear/obstacle in the service of others.

As a black women growing up in the UK I can truly say that I have been the lucky one that I have not openly experienced racial comments being thrown at me. Then at the age of 12 my mother decided to move us across London to a upper middle class area, where I found myself surround with less people who looked like me.

But even still I did not experience racism as I've seen and heard in the past 3 months of my life. And on top of that I myself have created a family of mixed cultures and skin tones and our extended family are quite diverse.

We're all as a society feeling all sorts of emotions and sometimes it can be so overwhelming.

What is leadership, anyway?

Such a simple question, and yet so many people, experts and organisations have written about the subject. Let’s start with what leadership is not…

Leadership has nothing to do with seniority or one’s position in the hierarchy of a company. Too many talk about a company’s leadership referring to the senior most executives in the organization. They are just that, senior executives. Leadership doesn’t automatically happen when you reach a certain pay grade. Hopefully you find it there, but there are no guarantees.

The online market has been highly competitive and overcrowded for some time now. What’s more, the number of new businesses that emerge every day is increasing. However, just because there’s competition, doesn’t mean you need to give up on your business idea or find a less saturated market. As a matter of fact, even small businesses with the right idea and strategy can sometimes out-compete industry giants.

It only takes a good angle and good planning. In addition, more competition means more demand, as well as more means to reach success. Nevertheless, standing out in an overcrowded market is no easy task. You have to be ready to face various challenges and overcome them in order to make a name for yourself. Here are a few ways you can penetrate the oversaturated market.

In my latest podcast we discuss some great tips to help you penetrate an oversaturated market or in your niche.

In this podcast I introduce myself and He Means Business, and lay a foundation with the powerful concept of ‘employing yourself’. Employing yourself as opposed to necessarily being self-employed, is about a mind-set we can adopt whether we are employed by someone else or fortunate enough to work for ourselves.

In fact, this empowering mind-set, shifts the reins of control that we so easily unconsciously had over to our employers and returns us to the cockpit of our own lives to be the master of our ships and therefore the authors of our own destiny.

I trust you’ll enjoy and be empowered by this two-part episode of He Means Business, in part 1 we explore the why and some of the philosophy behind this concept and in part 2 we get into more practical ideas and how to apply this in our lives.

Hello there my lovelies it has been a while. Hope you all are enjoying the hot summer weather? I know I am. The last three months for me has been a roller-coaster. I've had to slow down a little to focus on family issues, all good no need to worry.

But since my mind has been on other things for a little I've found that I've lost a little desire for my business and what I do here at Rachael Academy,(Can I Keep It Real?) We all have those days, months and sadly years where we've just lost the desire for life. Thank God I'm not there, just feeling a little fatigued.

Sadly some of us stay there and have no strength to pick themselves back up. If you recognise that you are here right now, please don't beat yourself up, this is what I call the life circle of life and every human-being goes through a loss of desire for something that is really important to them at some point of their journey of being human.

This got me thinking on the subject of desire.

Is it a feeling?

Or an action?

Is it a doing word?

Or all three?

Interesting.

It got me thinking of the early days of me starting out in business, having the passion and desire to start my own thing but unsure where, what and how to start. But I truly believe that it was my desire for more and the desire to truly make a difference in my little sphere of influence and even maybe the world that kept me going and moving me through the ups and downs of starting a business and getting it off the ground.

So this latest podcast episode is actually not a new per-say but an old one that I recorded maybe 7 years ago, not quite sure on dates but around about then. Where I discus the subject of desire with Omar Zac Phillips Entrepreneur and founder of The Idea Of A Man website.

So I hope this latest podcast helps you in creating space in your life and time for stirring back your long lost desire for life or business and maybe even a long lost dream.

Raising children, looking after a family and running a business is what most womanenpreneurs or career women face every single day. I find myself sometimes battling with thought, if I've spent enough time with my children this month? Have I given enough spare time to doing the house hold cleaning and tiding up.

It doesn't seem to matter how long I've been in business - there are still some days where I feel I might not be doing enough. I know if you are a womanpreneur out there you would know exactly what am talking about.

It’s obvious to say that studies show the majority of workers prefer companies that provide a healthy balance between work and personal life… But did you know that being overworked can actually be fatal? Science has shown that the more overworked you are, the greater risk you have for heart failure and stroke.

Unforeseen things happen in life and in business. The balancing act of trying to juggle home life, while trying to build a business on the side can sometimes take it's toll. You here the words 'being authentic' and you're trying your best to do so.

The term was coined to identify the conflicting demands women face. It was probably invented by women or a woman who wanted to get a message out: "we cannot do it all."

In that regard, the term is somewhat sexist because it was not targeted at, or identified with men. When was the last time you heard a man say he needed a better balance in his life to take the kids to the park? And, why don't men seek more balance in their lives? If they were to pitch in more with chores and child-rearing, women might not be stretched so thin.

The truth is, we live in a changing society where men, in fact, helping out than they did fifty years ago. There are more single dads today than even twenty years ago (single dads not due to being widowed.) Men are slowly becoming more openly nurturing and supportive of wives who want to go back to school. But this is done quietly, household by household - society at large has yet to accept that men are contributing more.

Still, women continue to struggle with what is expected of them - or what they think is expected of them. Women strive to be super wives, super moms, and career women. All the while, they stress about getting older, gaining weight, and competing with younger women in the workforce.

In the latest episode of Rachael academy I talk about learning to find the right balance between business and your personal life, whilst learning to stay true to who you really are.

If you want to start a business but don't know where to start, don't worry--you are not alone. In fact, given the new economic reality of our time, more people than ever before have found the "job" they thought was waiting for them doesn't exist. Others have come to the conclusion that they would rather create work they love, constructed to fit with their own life goals. No matter what the motivation is to be your own boss, you can start today.

Right now, an army of “wanterpreneurs” are being drawn into the world of startups. For them, entrepreneurship exists in the same sphere of activities as yoga (while covered head-to-toe in lululemon, of course), kombucha, kale, and Burning Man.

It's like becoming an entrepreneur is your passage to manhood, whatever that means. All the cool kids of yesterday aspired to get through to college and university and one day graduate to get a real paying job. Nowadays people are quitting school early to go and found a business.

Guest on Rachael Academy Podcast today is Omar Zac Phillips Founder of The website and project The Idea Of A Man comes on to show to talk about the concept why entrepreneurship might just be the best way a man can help define is life and work.

Making the decision to chase your dreams can be a frightening one let alone as a teenager. I've found that I have been lucky to have had parents who have believed in me and believed in my dream for a very young age. Making large changes to your life and how you live it is never easy, but by breaking the path to your dreams down into manageable goals, you can make the transition a much easier one. Achieving your dreams is possible, you just need a good plan. In my latest podcast I've invited on to the show my parents and we sit down and take a hard look into how we as individuals of course from different journeys and ages in life are chasing our dreams.

My mother has published a great book that will help you make your startup dream a reality. The Purpose Driven Business I know I might only be 14 but it's quite hard this days to truly know what you really want when you have so much things shouting for your attention.

My mother gave me this book to read a couple of month ago and I found it to be a great help in helping me put the pieces of where I would like to go next and help me see a little step ahead when it come to my dreams of becoming a musician. I recommend you getting your hands on her ebook.

It's a simple read but packed with some amazing information. From my experience the earlier you start you have a head chance in knowing what you want out of your life.

Hello my lovelies welcome to another episode of Rachael Academy podcast, hope your week has kicked off well. For those of you who have been following me for a while will know that I was running Rachael Academy from my home office. It was only two years ago I decided to lease out an office and studio and things have been going pretty well. Have also managed to find a great bunch of fellow entrepreneurs to support the work we do here for you awesome business owners.

I've published a small ebook on amazon kindle about the whole subject of working form home and how best to balance your life and work whilst creating room and time to make a little money from your home-based business. A Practical Guide For Working From Home : How to Make Money from Home For many small businesses the ideal situation for you is to be able to give an entire space from your home to your startup business, but we all know to well that cannot always be the case. Finding the fine line between work life balance is also a big deal. I know for me when running Rachael Academy from my home office two years ago, I found it hard to strike the balance on when 5.30 pm came around to switch the computer off and head for the door home. I was already at home so just one more hour would do and I would have the days project done and i would not have to carry it forwards into tomorrow.

And I'm sure you can guess what followed?!?

Me ending up staying to well over midnight, getting caught up on other projects and social media. So you can imagine my joy when I managed to land myself a great space outside my home. So on my latest Rachael Podcast I'm sharing with you some ways and ideas to help you cope with things we face as entrepreneurs in our home life that may have the potential overwhelm, overcrowd or affect our day to day business and also has the potential to affect our emotional balance and business owners.

I love to know your thoughts, why not take out the time to leave your thought in the comment box below.

The Affiliate Success Manual

How To Warn Money From Affiliate Marketing The Smart Way

Want to learn how to start your own successful online business? "In 1950 about one in three women participated in the labour force. By 1998, nearly three of every five women of working age were in the labour force. Among women age 16 and over, the labour force participation rate was 33.9 percent in 1950, compared with 59.8 percent in 1998. In this book you will learn how to come off the rat race of the 9-5 day and open the door to a new way of life and thinking. Affiliate marketing is the fastest growing home-based business. It’s a business that’s not based on others efforts but solely on yours leaving plenty of room for you to grow your business the way you want while having full control on what goes. Home-working has become increasingly fashionable. More than 90% of companies in Germany and Sweden allow flexible working. A growing number of firms are learning to divide the working week in new ways judging staff on annual rather than weekly hours, allowing them to work nine days a fortnight, letting them come in early or late and allowing husbands and wives to share jobs. Faster change is likely as women exploit their economic power. Many talented women are already hopping off the corporate treadmill to form companies that better meet their needs. In the past decade the number of privately owned companies started by women in America and the world has increased twice as fast as the number owned by men. Women-owned companies employ more people than the largest 500 companies combined.

When I started in business thirteen years ago one of the first businesses I started was in affiliate marketing part-time as well as working a full time job teaching. I found the little income I was making went a long way and went into helping to pay for those few little extra things. Six years ago I decided to really concentrate on working from home and the results have been tremendous.

Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest and simplest way to start your home-based business journey and in this book you will learn the Principals I used to start my own successful Affiliate Marketing business.

It’s that time of year again—welcome to your sneak peek into my top 8 trends for 2019! Pinterest created 100 trending topics and things for this year and from that list I've selected 8 of my favourites. The way we know an idea is trending is by looking at what all those people are searching for. If an idea keeps getting more and more searches each month? Hi my lovelies how as your weekend? As I'm writing and uploading this next episode of Rachael Academy Podcast I've just arrived back from my trip to London for business. It was a lovely time to spend time in the city. For those of you who know me or have been following me for a while would know that I'm a London girl and I lived there for 22 years of my life until moving to the North of England for a slower pace of life after having children.

I felt like a tourist visiting all the London landmarks visited by tourist. I had half a day to kill, before meeting with a client and speaking at a business event.

It can be challenging sometimes when it comes to being a woman in business. I know we live in a society and time where we as women want equal rights as our counter parts, I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with that, but we can sometimes forget to focus on us as women.

So in my latest podcast I'm sharing some of the dynamics involved in being a woman in business and trying to balance that with wearing many of our other hats we pick up along the way. I would love to know your thoughts, by sharing them in the comment box below.

Hope you enjoy!

Welcome to our first of our four part series of Your Gateway To Success.

What Is Success?

Definition of Success: Success (the opposite of failure) is the status of having achieved and accomplished an aim or objective. Being successful means the achievement of desired visions and planned goals.

People tend to have a misconstrued definition of success. We love to say things like:

  • “I’ll be successful once I find a career related to my passion.”
  • “I’ll be a success when I make my first million dollars.”
  • “I’ll be a success when I find the love of my life.”

The truth is success isn’t a goal or destination — it’s a MINDSET you take on to achieve your goals. And like all other mindsets, you don’t just drop it once you achieve your goals. Instead, you adopt it so you can carry it with you forever. So lets listen in to our first part of Your Gateway To Success series.

What does Richard Branson, Steve Jobs and Larry Ellison all have in common? What do successful billionaires share that makes them so goddamn good at what they do? How come some people make it from the bottom, all the way to the top in such a fashion that it almost seems more like a miracle or out of mere luck? They Hustle!

These visionaries, who set the standards for success and triumphs, didn’t just sit on a couch, listening to self-help audio books or liking Facebook pages, they got their asses up and knocked on every single door they came across. They went after every opportunity; they sacrificed comfort and replaced it with grindfor the sake of success.

The popularity of eBay has inspired many people to start a business. And for those entrepreneurs who don't want to invest in a ton of inventory but still want to set up shop, drop-shipping is a logical solution.

Before you get started, there are a fee things you might want to consider.

Step 1: Choose a product to sell. The very first step in any sales process is deciding what product to sell. Many factors should be considered before you make the decision, but for now, let's say that you've decided to sell CD players on eBay.

Step 2: Locate a supplier who will drop-ship for you. Using a research tool like Google, ThomasRegister.com or an industry-specific resource like The Ultimate eBay Dropship Power Pak, you can search for and find a company that will drop-ship CD players for you. If the company offers you a 35 percent markup over cost, which means that itu will supply the CD players to you for $100 each, then you should be able to retail them for $135 apiece. Make sure the drop-shipper has a good stock of CD players on hand so you don't end up selling a product that must be back-ordered.

Step 3: Set up an account with the drop-shipper. Now it's time to set up a reseller account with the company that will supply the CD players. This can often be done online or by phone, but some companies will require that you complete and return a reseller application to open an account. Some may also require a tax ID and a business license.

Listen in to my latest podcast to find how how you can get started with dropshipping.

A business that’s struggling to define its value proposition, for example, has little concern for refining processes and writing manuals. However, one that’s trying to scale will view those as a priority.

The lesson here is to cease aiming for a future where life is effortless and learn to enjoy the day-to-day challenge of solving new problems.

1. Realize That You Are The Problem. The business you’re about to build will be a direct extension of you. Its DNA will mirror your own beliefs, motivations, worldviews, strengths and weaknesses.

If you’re experiencing a problem in your business, it’s because you haven’t yet developed a capacity for something that the world requires you to learn in order to move forward on your path.

  1. Address Issues At Their Core. One of the main challenges for a new business, for example, is to get enough clients. If there’s not enough of them, you might be tempted to view it as a marketing problem.

While that is true, there’s more to it than that. At a deeper level, it’s also probably an empathy and generosity problem on behalf of the person in charge of marketing.

If this person is not wired to solve other people’s problems and doesn’t experience joy from a pure act of giving, teaching them about USPs and SEO will be a poor investment of time.

  1. Embrace Personal Growth. Your business is a giant classroom in which you’ll get an opportunity to learn about your own barriers and – if you’re willing – to move past them.

The aim is to use your role as a business founder as an opportunity to grow as a human being (which will, in turn, bring about happiness and fulfillment; not to use your business as a vehicle to build fame and fortune in order to bring about happiness (it won’t).

  1. Believe That Final Destination Is A Myth. When I was starting out, I watched too many YouTube videos in which business founders talked about raising millions of dollars and being bought by Google in the space of 6 months.

This led me to be distracted by the promise of a magic, fictitious destination – one where I have “made it”, there are no struggles, no threats and little stress.

  1. Enjoy The Process Of Building A Business. The reality of achieving business goals is that every time one is reached, a new set of challenges present themselves, some of which were not relevant or visible at earlier stages.

It means that the very process of building a mature business has the effect of moving goal posts back hardwired into it.

6. Don’t Let Your Time Be Easily Wasted. Results are a product of your effort multiplied by traction.

The problem is that when you’re starting out, you don’t really know what you’re doing, so you don’t have much traction.

It means that a lot of your effort, and possibly money, is wasted on spinning your wheels in the mud. You simply haven’t yet figured out which of your actions create the most value – and that’s totally normal.

The Breaking Boundaries Mindset Coach and Speaker

Personal Individual Coaching That Will Eliminate Self Limited Beliefs And Break Your Emotional Boundaries.

Thank you Chris for taking out the time to join me on The Secret Diaries Of Entrepreneurs.

  1. Sum up Chris using three words, (Why those three words?)

Unstoppable, Passionate and Connected - Unstoppable because nothing can get in my way, and I can always get through whatever is given to me when it comes to an obstacle. Passionate, my little girl is my true passion, I do everything to make sure she gets everything she needs. Connected - because I am truly abundant, and I am very spiritual and have a belief of the higher world.

  1. What inspires you?

People winning on a daily basis for their kids. I wish for people with what I currently don't have, as I believe having children and really giving them everything they deserve is what matters. I didn't particularly have a great childhood but I wish for others children to really experience the best.

  1. Breakthrough for many people always seems to be round the corner, how can we guarantee that breakthrough comes knocking at our door?

By facing in to the fear of what you are looking to breakthrough with. Many people are living in scarcity and I find they don't understand how they think or feel due to the blueprint from experiences in their life from when they were younger or something that has become a traumatic experience. But it is fundamental to release and to face in to with guidance and knowing that you are safe and you will overcome these experiences.

Pandemics, or global disease outbreaks, don’t need zombies to be terrifying: they're the third most likely cause of an extinction event according to the Global Catastrophic Risk Report (GCRR), as we’ve told you before. “Between the Spanish Flu, the Black Death, and the Great Plague of Justinian, over 25% of the world’s population was killed by disease,” according to the GCRR.

A team of Cornell researchers figured out how fast a zombie outbreak would spread across the United States. You know, just in case...

The team came up with their findings by using a variation of the SIR model, a tool that epidemiologists use to predict the spread of infectious diseases like measles and Ebola.

In the SIR model:

S = The number of susceptible people who haven't been infected by the disease.

I= The number of infected people

R= The number of people who recovered or died from the disease

The numbers are used in calculus equations to determine things like how fast a disease is likely to infect a percentage of the population.

Most of the ideas that I have listed here are completely random and just listed in order that I thought of the, However, I intentionally made affiliate marketing number one of this list because it is by far the easiest way that I know to make money online.

Just in case you’ve never tried your hand at affiliate marketing here is an easy guide for getting started and a few tips to help you avoid the mistakes that many “newbie” marketers often make.

I’ve heard it said over and over again that in order to make money online you first need to give something freely. That’s very true when it comes to affiliate marketing. Also havea sincere “GIVE BEFORE YOU GET” mindset. Give your audience good quality, original information and they’ll reward you with great sales!

Before you select affiliate products to sell you need to focus your attention on a MARKETABLE NICHE. Notice, I didn’t just say a niche but a marketable niche. There’s a huge difference.

If I have seen further than others, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” Isaac Newton

In the words of Sir Isaac Newton, mentors extend vision, enable proteges to attain greater heights. In short, mentors provide undeniable counsel and resources that are not necessarily or readily available or accessible. One of the key realities on our journey is the fact that you will discover that you can not ‘do,’ ‘go’ or ‘be’ all you can be all by yourself. You will eventually need people and people will need you.

Invariably, you will discover that no one is an island and our interconnections is an obvious reality that reminds me of the popular adage on vacuums. It is true that no one can exist or succeed in a vacuum. Each one of us will require other people’s help, support, insight, feedback, and resources at one point on our journey.

Coincidentally, the value of mentoring goes beyond oneself. It is a gift that keeps on giving and I am reminded of this scripture that says, “in the multitude of counselors (mentoring) there is safety.” I truly believe that!

Every business wants to improve its profitability. This is usually achieved by increasing the quality of the product or service, while at the same time ensuring that costs are minimized. Businesses connect to their customers by creating products and services that customers require and then marketing those products to them.

Few advertising experts actually understand how advertising works, but what is undeniable is that it does. Towards the end of the twentieth century, the primary modes of advertising were overtly television, radio, print adverts and billboards.

Perhaps the best source of advertising and by far the cheapest was word of mouth. Until the invention of the internet, word of mouth rarely found its way into the popular consciousness. Few people would write in to a newspaper to promote their favorite detergent or brand of apparel.

The invention of the internet saw word of mouth go global. People and their views are connected as they have never been connected before.

There are also a great number of ways of letting people know your opinion, so instead of telling, a neighbor how one product is better than another, people post it on a website and hundreds know about it.

Practical Steps To Building Wealth In Your life

Most people will admit that wealth brings in more happiness and so there is no surprise that people want to attract more success into their life. The problem however is that we tend to try and force success into our lives and this can lead to more problems.

You can listen in to all my other podcasts here. http://www.rachaelacademy.com/podcasting-1

In order to really attract more success, there are actually a few secrets that can be utilised that will enable us to see more success in our lives. Here are a few things to consider when it comes to attracting more success.

Visualize Success In order to have success, you must see it before it comes. This is something that a lot of people do not understand. When you visualise success in your life, you will be able to "control" the things that happen to you. Our mind is so much faster and powerful than our physical and thought will always proceed action, so it makes sense that we concentrate and focus on becoming wealthy in our minds first before we move to action.

Accept Failure However, though you can visualise success, things just might not go the way you want. This will happen to everyone and you simply can't expect to succeed on your first try. No matter what you do in life, you will need to realise that you just might fail but this should not stop you from trying again. You have the power and capabilities to get up and go again at it.

Never Quit As cliche as this may sound, you simply can not quit. Life will have a lot of ups and downs and the trick is to have steady emotions. Don't stop yourself from enjoying the highs and don't sulk in bed when things don't go you way o as planned, then you will be able to really feel happier on a consistent basis.

These three secrets are really just things that we as humans forget.

In order to truly attract more success, you simply need to change your mentality and to always see the good in every situation, no matter how bad it can be. With just a little patience and hard work, you will be able to live a happier and more successful life.

Sheila (Levack) Simms True Relationship Artist

Title of your podcast show: What It Takes To Become a True Relationship Artist by Owning Your Story and Owning Your Worth with Sheila Simms

Podcast Questions:

  1. Tell us a little bit about who Sheila Simms is.

First, thank you Rachael for having me on your show today - it is great that we can connect across the pond and around the globe!

Well, I think who I am starts with my name. I was named after my mom's best friend she had during childhood and my middle name 'Vivian' is passed down from my late grandmother and aunt who had the same middle name. I am a Christian and God has been a great source of strength, guidance and unconditional love in my life so I prefer the biblical meaning of my whole name that is: 'being in good character & conduct, life and one who hears' which is pretty cool as I love telling stories as well as hearing the stories of others, in fact, this is what led to my 2 start-ups: Visual Spatial Creative and Built By Hearts.

In terms of titles and positions I am a Wife, Mom of Ashton who is 13, Storyteller, Story-Maker, Blue Heart Builder & Driver, Brav Shift Promoter, SPN Lioness & Good2U Leader, Independent Director and aspiring True Relationship Artist and quite possibly one day an Extraordinary True Relationship Artist! There may even be ones that I missed too!

But those are simply titles & positions that do not define me...

My personal mantra, core values, my last line, my process define me as they help guide my intentions and actions daily.

My personal mantra is "I see things differently and help others see things differently."

My core values are: STRENGTH. FREEDOM. JOY. PEACE. GRATITUDE.

My last line is: "She always had a smile, she loved sharing stories and cared about the stories around her...Sheila Vivian Simms lived LIFE well."

My PROCESS is:

Step 1: Always smile. Step 2: Share stories with love. Step 3: Care about the stories around me. Step 4: Live life well.

  1. Many people out there are looking for happiness in some shape or form. Do you think that self discovery and the process of finding yourself plays an important role to becoming happy?

Definitely but it isn't happiness we all should be seeking but contentment, joy, joy unspeakable that you have regardless of good or bad situations or circumstances. Self-discovery is the only route to true contentment - you may be happy, obtain material items, have success but you will not experience that true contentment and joy unspeakable until you receive validation as well as fulfillment.

  1. Why discover yourself whats the point?

If you don't discover yourself you will either be living someone else's life purpose or a life without purpose.

  1. What is a day in Relationship Artist look like or involve?

It is different every single day which I love - I may be writing, posting on social media & contributing to conversations, going on my power walks and running into people in my neighbourhood, working in my garden both offline & online so they both thrive, it is curating other people's stories as well as my own, it is collecting 'people' but for a purpose either for myself or someone else's purpose and it is collaborating with others from all walks of life and industries, it is having no budget & being creative by staging my own photos for my stories and it can be researching this field to see how I can expand it - every day is different & I love it!

  1. Why did you start a business in the self development industry?

It is the manifestation of my vision that I had when I was 21 and I always heard that if you are going to become an entrepreneur then develop a product and/or service offering that solves a problem to your biggest pain point. Well, because of the trauma of growing up and then living in a generational cycle of abuse, close relationships became my biggest pain point and fear. So, I thought why not start a relationship management company that focuses on fostering relationships, decreases conflict, increases wellness and positivity through storytelling and story-making. Also, then my company would not only help others but also me to find ourselves, find our voice and find our community so we are connected in mind, body and spirit within ourselves so that we can become one with another.

  1. You mention these words quite often in you work core values, vision, mission, passion. What do they really mean to an individual life?

Again, they are everything, unique to everyone and part of the discovery process.

What is in the deep core of you?

What do you see that the world needs?

How will you make that happen, what steps will you take?

What sets your soul on fire?

And your end result of your discovery process may be I want to be a great mom or dad or become Prime Minister or start a company - all very different but meaningful to the person that discovered that is their life purpose.

  1. What 3 things have you learnt since being in business could you first describe it with three words.

Be Brav. Be Strong. Be Well.

  1. What one book have you read that changed your life or mentors?

Book - The Bible.

Mentors - I have been blessed with many both personally and professional, in fact, every person I have met has impacted my life, taught me lessons, helped me grow and change in some capacity.

  1. What advice would you give any woman out there who also has a burning desire and dream in getting started or fulfilling that dream.

  2. JUST LISTEN. Listen to that intuition, that still small voice telling you your dream and as you hear that voice you light up, smile and are excited - that is your gift.

  3. JUST WALK. Even if it is the smallest step, just take that step.

  4. JUST ASK. Ask for help and surround yourself with people that you will learn from, that you can collaborate with and that can help in terms of finances, resources or even emotional support that you will need on this journey.

  5. JUST GIVE. Give your gift away so that you can truly empact = impact + empower = empowerment in action.

  6. Tell us a little bit more about what Sheila does, your community and where people can find you and join in.

Right now, I am collaborating with 3 key organizations & people as well as other organizations including many amazing people that include: Remi Alli & Karl Mercier & team from Brav Online Conflict Management (Brav), Heidi Allen & 8000+ Positive People Army (PPA) and Dr. Rob Rutledge, Timothy Walker & team from Healing and Cancer Foundation (HCF) as I enter into an Intrapreneurial program with my Mentor Susan Fulford of Dynamic Legacy. I also have an 'Assurance Provider' Ian Lai and an Empact Advisor Michelle Ingram and my awesmazing husband Dave and son Ashton + extended family by my side.

In the Intrapreneurial program, Susan will be supporting me as I learn how to raise capital, develop & start a solid plan for the relationship management system & related apps I am working on developing and I will be continue my research too.

Also, for all 3 organizations I am furthering their work in various ways - starting a Brav Shift division for Brav that includes a monthly podcast starting in September, a representative online and offline at events as well as fundraising; I am a Core Founder for Positive People Army and working on a manifesto for global expansion to ensure we are meeting needs of the largest army without arms; and part of the Canada 150 Wellness Challenge for HCF, helping them to expand events & programming as well as fundraising. 6

I also write, active in my online and offline communities as I continue to be a Curator, Collector and Collaborator.

I am still developing my own website but I can be found on LinkedIn, Twitter and the Positive People Facebook community.

There’s a saying in farm country: “Don’t ever bet against farmers.” Farmers must grow their businesses while constantly battling declining profit margins, industry incumbents with vastly more market power and the daily roller coaster of commodity prices and weather. In many ways, farmers are the ultimate entrepreneurs, constantly innovating, growing businesses by themselves and taking full responsibility for all aspects of product delivery. Entrepreneurs could learn a lot from farmers.

Here are eight lessons from the farm that every startup should embrace.

Do you want to be at the right place at the right time? Adopt these habits to make sure opportunity comes knocking.

Everyone hears about that person who is “in the right place at the right time.”  Maybe you know someone who seems to be that person all of the time. We have those friends who walk right into the perfect job and achieve the right promotions as if they have a crystal pointing them in the right direction. They get awarded the best projects and their presentations get praise and standing ovations from the special guests who showed up to hear them. How do they do that?

It’s not fate or a great gene pool. It’s not an accident. It’s not even a lucky star. People who enjoy consistent success know what it takes to make great opportunities happen. Change a few habits and people might be wondering how you get so many opportunities, too.

It’s true. You don’t need luck if you can make things happen; you need strategy. Simply stated, strategy is a realistic plan to move forward by taking advantage of the opportunities that suit your unique abilities. It’s a matter of having control. It takes time and some attention, but buying a lottery ticket takes that and money, too.

Want to make good things happen for you? Here are some of our thoughts on how to make that happen.

Blogging and social networking are inextricably linked in the sense that both contain certain features and certain properties of one another. Both are aimed at creating a wide movement as far as multimedia interaction is concerned. Though it is true that blogs can be regulated and kept very private, the main purpose of them is to reach out to a number of people, to have a medium to voice your opinion.

Another similarity is that both these concepts have existed in cyber space for almost a decade now, but in the initial stages both were rather exclusive of one another. Only in the recent times have they been merged, and their similarity in motives truly recognized.

Blogging is essentially done to channel your thoughts out on to an online journal. You also want other people to read what you have written.

This way, you go about coming in touch with people from all over the world who you would not have otherwise known. Similar is the function of social networking. It is a hub where the young and the hearty flock. The chances of getting an audience at such a platform are high.

The origination of the term ‘blog’ is interesting. It was initially called a ‘weblog’ meaning a log or a diary or a journal that helps you to record your thoughts on a day to day basis. In that sense it was rather in its primitive stages and did not turn into an instrument for propaganda immediately. This term was later shortened to blog and this is when free blogging services like Blogger became extremely popular.

As mentioned earlier, blogging today is not restricted to only maintaining a journal. It has truly become a platform where various kinds of people from all walks of life, whether they have the same ideologies or not, conflate, and discuss the matters they think are important to them.

Blogging in the twenty first century has come to become an important tool for advertising for people who wish to market their products online, for politicians who wish to sell their ideologies, and reach out, to the masses.

Moreover, creating a blog and maintaining it does not require a fortune. Everybody now has a personal blog and it is all free of cost. Also, one does not need to be a computer engineer or a graphic or web designer in order to embellish their blog.

Unlike a website which operates on a different domain, and for which every single template and tab needs to be designed and created from the scratch, blog sites do not need such knowledge. The blogging service providers have their own inbuilt templates and fonts which have to be chosen by the bloggers as per their own tastes and preferences.

Blogging is an ideal way to make new friends and come in contact with more people than you can do in the actual word, from all quarters of the world. Such diverse people will obviously have differing viewpoints. Therefore, this gives scope for a good deal of discussion and debate with all points of view being taken on board.

Blogs can also be for the sole purpose of making new friends and socializing. That is why social networking sites have picked up the clue and in these times social networking and blogging has, to some extent, been combined, and almost become indistinguishable.

It would be interesting to note that the word ‘blog’ is both a noun and a verb. This leads us to the fact that blogging in some sense also helps get rid of hassles of publishing. Though your work will not come out in print, you know that you can publish your work – your articles, pictures, videos, etc – yourself through you blog.

Therefore, it may be your own personal journal that you wish others to read or you works of art in terms of the stories or articles that you write, or the movies that you make. You can share almost any content with the world at large.

It must also be noted that just like you do not have to be a web designer to create your own blog, you need not be a professional writer, a film maker or a photographer to publish content on your blog. It is just a space for you to indulge in your own small artistic pursuits and share those moments with others. Blogging must therefore be exploited to its full potential.

A hobby, by definition, is something you do for pleasure at your leisure. You don’t do it for the money, even though it’s likely you’re far better at it than you are at doing your regular job.

The working day dream for all of us is to feel the same passion for work as we do for our favourite pastime, but the risk factor stops us from making the two become one and the same. But for every cautionary tale (we all know the mate who quit his job to become a DJ), there’s a baffling success story (those kids on YouTube who make millions playing video games).

If you go for it carefully, you too can turn your drive into a living. Just don’t lose sight of the difference between the two – one’s for fun, the other for funds. Here’s to having both!

Is It Viable? It’s tempting to tell your boss to shove it and imagine the story ending with you brandishing an award, but you need to be sure you’ve got what it takes – both in terms of product and the mind-set to handle the pressure that’ll come with it.

“Develop a side-hustle,” advises Melinda Emerson, author of Succeed As Your Own Boss. “That way you can test the waters and learn some of those expensive lessons in business while you are still collecting a paycheque.”

well and enjoying the hotter weather. I had so much fun with my recent Client Busola who was introduce to me from another client of mine to help her build out a new website for her already running Catering Business.

I love spending time with her to put a project plan together, finding out what she loved or not and who was the woman behind the business. And I must say I also loved watching her videos of the amazing foods that she cooked.

So if you have some time on your hands take some time to visit her over at Busola Can Cook.

It was Busola that motivated me to do today's podcasts if you have a love for cooking and would like to turn it into a successful and thriving business.

Don't forget to come over and visit me at Rachael Academy and get all the latest business growth strategies to grow your business and some free resources and tool boxes just for you see over there.

Do you have friends who only seem to come around when it is convenient for them? Ever thought someone close to you would always be there when you're in need, but when push comes to shove, they're nowhere to be found? Inconsistency is a terrible attribute that far too many people nowadays possess.

Now don’t beat yourself up if the description above reminds you of someone close to home. Everyone once or twice in their life exhibit traits of inconsistency and that’s a human thing. The danger comes when it starts to affect us achieving our goals and plans in life and it starts to get in the way of your relationships and work.

It's funny while growing and building my business as a mother of four it's only natural that some of my children have decided to take the entrepreneurial path even at a young age. It really does make me happy that they have found their way in life quite early as I did not get opportunity to do so myself. My youngest daughter has now got the bug for business and came to me back a couple of months ago and said

“Mum I want to do what you d” The joy that filled my heart, not because I want her to be like me but because I know she sees ll the hard work and effort I put into my business and she still wants to do it. That’s my girl!

Hi there lovelies I'm back and I know before you shut me down, I know this is 2017 and women and society is moved on so far that really do we still have housewives. Let me explain, this was the title of a small how to guide about affiliate marketing and business that if you are a stay at home mother can do from the comfort of your home. So I thought that I would revisit it and share with you what I wrote in my small guide to get you thinking on ways to generate income from home.

I do get a lot of clients who happen to be women ask me what kind of business could they do working from home while they look after their young family. A lot of them are shocked to find out that they have quite a few options and choices to choose from.

Before starting my business consultancy business and going full-time into things. I spent many days and night working on some great home-based business and some of them I still d to this day because they are still a great source of income for me.

Hi there lovelies, how are y doing? Well I hope. It might seem that lately that things are not going well for me and I seem a little frustrated to say the least right? Well enough said I let you listen in on my latest podcast to find out what going on around here for yourself.

I’ve been in business for the last 13 years and along the way I’ve come across situations and circumstance that arise in my personal life and business that make me want to pack the whole thing up and quit. But what I’ve found that has helped me to stay on track for reaching my dreams and goals for my business, is remembering and reminding myself why I started on the entrepreneurial journey in the first place. Having a focus point and something to look to and hold on to, could be a dream house, new found friends, having more surplus income for the family household, whatever that holding point. It must be so strong and powerful that no matter what the wind brings to blow you off the road, you are going to remain there and see your dream through.

You owe to yourself and to those who are looking for you to pave the way. Is it hard? Yes you damn right it’s hard, but the reward out weight the hardship you will go through to get your new found business and dream startup off the ground. If you can pass the breaking point, the 5 year mark you are bound to make it. Believe you can and you will.

Growing up, I thought I had a pretty good idea what being a woman meant. All the women around me or at least the women I looked up to had a lot in common – they had successful careers, they were married, they were mothers, and they were involved in their communities. Looking back, I don’t know how the hell they did it – some days I come home and honestly am grateful that the only person I really have to cater to is myself.

It sounds selfish but it’s true. Yesterday, I started my day at 5:30 AM, after 3.5 hours of sleep, and after just managing to get in a workout at 9:30 PM, I didn’t get home till 11 PM. Most days aren’t like this but then I think of my mother who while married and working, obtained all her education to the PhD level, and raised five kids, I feel a little put to shame. HOW DID YOU DO IT MUM? I WANT TO KNOW THE SECRET!

This was an extract taken from the writings of Kovie Biakolo who rote a great piece titled

What Does It Mean To Be A Woman? Do you ask yourself this very question? Or are you a man who is on the  ever ending journey of knowing your woman?

When it come s to starting your own business as a women entrepreneur knowing the boundaries and how to's of building a business can feel way out there.

Self motivation is one of the absolute most difficult things we face as an entrepreneur or when starting a new business. Hey heck if you have a heart and are breathing then you would have at some point in your life battled with motivation.

I hear so many mixed messaging about this subject. On one hand we should talk about motivation if you need to be motivated all the time then you ate not human and you probably need to go to the doctors for a check up as you might be suffering from some kind of rare illness.

And on the other get as much motivation kicks as you can, never mind what you go for as long as you can escape from reality.

You get my drift?

So it’s no wonder we decided to do this latest episode. We sure hope it helps a few of you lovelies out there.

The reality quickly sinks in when you realise that you don’t have the money to pay your net business bill.

What is a niche?

A niche is concentrating all your marketing efforts on a small but specific and well defined segment of the population. Niches do not 'exist' but are 'created' by identifying the needs, wants, and requirements that are being addressed poorly or not at all by other businesses and individuals, and developing and delivering goods or services to satisfy what the customer wants.

So how do you then turn your skill and talent into a niche that has the potential to make you money and build a great business?
