In today’s episode, we have special guest Dr. Jason Vickers, a published author who shares with students the writing process and how to publish a book. Dr. Vickers leaves with the audience some important writing tips: “Read books you enjoy by your favorite author and notice their style of writing, read books about things you love and practice writing a little bit each day.” You will also hear from a few third graders as they share some takeaways they received from comparing and contrasting stories written by the famous children’s author and illustrator, Patricia Polacco. Polacco has an incredible story of perseverance and I encourage every teacher to check out her books! Hope you enjoy the show!
In today’s episode, you will hear from third grade student co-hosts in Mrs. Gooslin’s class and a few special guest. Students interviewed Mrs. McAllister the art teacher at Southisde Elementary and Ms. Bug Brown the leader of the Fellowship Christian Athletes in Woodford County. Each guest shared ways they are showing love and kindness with others in our community and around the world.
In today’s episode, students from Mrs. Gooslin’s third grade class decided to create a podcast episode about Groundhog Day. From beginning to end, students organized, researched and edited even the smallest of details of the show as they discussed the history behind this famous, Pennsylvania tradition. Students also made predictions whether or not if they believed Phil would see his shadow. Then, about an hour later we had a very special guest to stop by our class today to say, “Hi!” So of course, we asked Mr. Scott Hawkins, the Woodford County Public School’s Superintendent if he would like to answer a few questions about Groundhog Day and what he hoped would happen. Yes, 2020 has had it’s challenges. However, having a grateful attitude about the positive things in our life is not an challenge, but a choice. Our attitude is the only thing that we can control when everything about this year has been uncertain. How we choose to react to life’s obstacles is up to us. Do we hang our harp on a willow tree? Or, will we keep on singing? In today’s episode, you will hear from a few special guest including Woodford Co. Public School’s K-8th Virtual Academy Principal, Mr. Joe Albert and many of my virtual academy’s parents.
