We all want to get after whatever it is that drives us but it can be hard with a full-time job and kids. I want to share how I and others who are in the same position try and keep our personal goals on track. On a daily basis I will share with you the trials and tribulations I face in trying to reach my fitness goals. If you have personal goals outside of work that you want to achieve but can’t seem to get going on them this is the podcast for you. You’ll learn even the best laid plans have been disrupted but that doesn’t mean we should give up.
We can become inconsistent from things we control and things we can’t control but we can’t let the latter lead to the former. My thoughts on managing consistency in this almost 7 minute episode.
When I was younger I never worked out in the morning, always after work instead. Now I couldn’t imagine working out on a regular basis after work and don’t even think it would be possible. That’s why I now workout in the morning and in this podcast I explain my rationale and the struggles associated with morning workouts but also the benefits it brings me.
Fitness centers are more crowded this time of year and that’s a good thing. I hear gym “regulars” complain too often about dealing with the crowds at this time of year and it aggravates me. People need to start somewhere and we should be encouraging people to keep going to the gym, not hoping they give up soon so the gym is less crowded. It’s terrifying to start something new so offer help and encouragement if it looks like someone could use it. We all benefit from a healthier society.
It’s hard to be patient but oftentimes necessary. When it comes to exercise and fitness being impatient can lead to quitting or overtraining which is why it’s so important to remain patient aka disciplined.
We all try to pass lessons on to our children but do we actually practice what we preach? Do we lead by example or by words? Find out how I realized I don’t always practice what I preach but in 2019 I resolve to do a better job of taking the advice I give to my kids.
