154-You guys are well aware, at the beginning of each year, I choose a word that I focus on for the year. For this year, it's going to be automated. I want to create even more of a passive type of business than I already have.
Transitioning to this single mom status, I am finding that my time has been cut in half even further. I have less time than I ever have had before. And so this is going to be my year to automate as much as I can, put as much as I can on autopilot. And I felt like this is a great time also to be sharing how I do all of this. This is exactly what Marie from Glow Your Design did. She had a few handmade shops selling physical products that she would send to buyers, this eventually led her to selling digital SVG files so after launching her shop in 2021, she was able to hone in on her customer, offer custom orders, set her products apart from the competition, and all this led to 10,000 in sale orders. 120 -As my business started needing me more in capacities outside of design I realized that I needed help with creating designs for my Etsy shop. The first thing I thought was “Can you even do that?” The answer is Yes, you can hire someone to create your designs and it’s made a world of difference for me in my business. These days I’m still the main designer but outsourcing parts of the designs process to somebody I trust has been such a blessing and a big weight off of my shoulders. Today I pick the brain of influencer Teela Cunningham from Every Tuesday. Teela has been playing this online game as a designer for quite some time now. She started out selling her designs and fonts on Creative Market and Gumroad. After some time she learned she had a knack for explaining complex tasks within the design programs to her coworkers. She thought others would benefit from these tips too, so she started a YouTube channel and had such good feedback, she ended up doing more frequent tutorials. This led to her creating online courses. 057-Christa is a teacher, wife, and mom of two little girls. With a busy life, it was hard to get in time for herself. She knew she wanted a creative outlet to balance the everyday hustle and bustle. 056- Nikita is the owner and designer behind Kitaleigh. In 2011 she decided she needed a side gig to help nurture her creative side - previously she had worked in Medical Bill review, so she started a side gig only making physical items but that quickly morphed into more digital graphics once she saw the flexibility and freedom these had to offer. By 2014 Nikita had replaced her day job income and was able to transition to selling digital designs full time from home. I say ironic, because I grew up on a farm where ‘you get what you get and you don’t throw a fit’ and worked with my hands a lot, and then went on to college and got a minor in computers and became a total coding geek.
