Carrie tells us the best AND worst types of restaurants in America as voted on by fans, and she tells us the history of Chick-Fil-A aka Jesus Chicken (halleloo)! Finally, we try a surprise Snack Crate box from Greece and spoiler alert: all the packages were written in Greek, so who knows what they say! (jk, it came with a booklet :D) What else do we get into? Hello, ya sweet little onions! On episode 114 of HINKY, Carrie and Sara rant about concert tickets (and it's not the rant you're thinking of, btw), and Carrie learns a new fact about Sara that she didn't know before. We recap our outing to a local Japanese restaurant, and we talk about the other things we ate over the past couple of weeks as well. It's officially feeling like fall, so all the snacks and drinks in Everybody Tries are orange (even though this podcast bleeds blue), and Sara tells us the history of one of the world's most famous comfort foods. Hello ya little bananas! On episode 113 of HINKY, Carrie and Sara had a big ol' Tuesday night at the Cheesecake Factory! We recap Carrie's first trip to the Lexington location, even though it's been here for 10ish years. Don't worry - Sara tried a bunch of local restaurants to balance out all the corporate cheesecake. We talked about our go-to Starbucks drinks, and we have another SnackCrate box (thanks to Sara for not canceling this month's subscription!). We round out the episode with a new Coke drink and Carrie's HINKY History Lesson on a very pertinent treat to the episode. What else do we get into? We get into a lot of food stuffs, of course, including a recap of Lexington Craft Beer Week. Carrie tried two new restaurants, including one that we met up and tried together. Who knew video games, food, and beer were such popular concepts! We step in as reporters for Renee's reports, and we try some really tasty crackers in Everybody Tries. Since there's a new Mt Dew flavor out, you know Sara tracked it down, so she tries that one as well. No podcast question this week, but we do have a special segment that we really think you're going to enjoy! A real nod to the glory days of Bluegrass Bourbon and Eats, if we do say so ourselves. Hello, ya little jalapenos! On episode 74 of HINKY, the gang gets into a lot of nacho talk! Carrie takes a trip to the farm and rescues a tiny dog from near disaster, Renee marks off a lot of things from her to-do list, and we give you our seemingly semi-annual pitch to eat at Bear and the Butcher. We also start our concession stand bracket, and we already have a couple of upsets heading into the finals! The podcast question brings us more nacho goodness in the form of nacho toppings, and we even bring back an OG segment that involves...you guessed it: nachos! Renee tells us about some events happening around town, we try to convince Carrie to go to Lexington ComicCon, and Sara eats a lot of nacho cheese. We talk about some of the events going on in Lexington, and we wonder why we have 3 different biscuit restaurants in the Fayette Co area. For Everybody Tries, we have some chicken etouffee from Bourbon and Toulose, followed by some Mardi Gras-themed cupcakes and cookies from Caramanda's bakery, all of which should be required eating if you're gonna visit Lex Vegas! We get into some taco talk, some Hawaiian BBQ talk, and some very, very spicy chicken talk. Renee tells us about some events happening this weekend (if we survive the ice-pocalypse), and reminds you to get your reservations in at your fave romantic restaurant for the holiday that we don't celebrate on this podcast. We talk about how Lexington we are based on a local news article, but we tweak the requirements a bit based on our extensive food knowledge. Hello, ya little submarines! On Episode 69 (hehe) of HINKY, the gang starts out by going down a rabbit hole about...copyrighted music somehow. Don't worry, we get back to foodstuffs after a few minutes! We talk about things we want to experience on our food journeys in 2022, and we tease a new project that Renee and Sara are working on for this year. We discuss pop-up restaurants involving YouTubers and TikTok people and whether or not they will be a sustainable business, and we're still asking for more restaurants to put whipped feta on their menus. Renee reads us the news, we try Wendy's Frosty cereal, and we learn about some New Years' food traditions from around the world. We round out this episode out with a rousing edition of the HINKY Podcast Question, and we see how many times Sara can burp during the show without anyone noticing. Hello, ya little fruitcakes! On episode 68 of HINKY, the gang gets ready to celebrate both Christmas and New Years as we record the show the week of the holidays. We start off by sending our thoughts and condolences to our friends out in Western KY who lost everything after a devastating tornado hit the area a couple of weeks ago. If you have the means and want to contribute to relief efforts, there are lots of good places to donate your time, money and/or much-needed items for the victims out there. We talk about whipped feta and whether we think it's the new, hip appetizer, and Sara talks about a new local pizza place she tried in London. Carrie and Sara talk about recording episode 300 of Girls, Beer, Sports, and how crazy it is to have recorded so many episodes of a podcast. Renee tells us about some fun NYE activities happening in Lexington, and we run through a Christmas food bracket to see which dish (real or fictional) is the best one to eat. We try some festive cereal and some festive drinks in Everybody Tries, and we read the answers you all gave us to the HINKY Podcast Question. We also talk brunch and Renee tells us about some events going on around town. Everybody Tries brings us some sugar cookies and sriracha peas to munch on, and we got to see what you all think are the best Christmas cookies during our HINKY Podcast Question segment. Hello, ya little dippers! On episode 65 of HINKY (not episode 66 like some ding dong said on the show), the gang dips into some fun stuff! We start out the show by trying a non-alcoholic bourbon from Australia, which went over just as well as one would think in the historic Bourbon Room at Fort Lewis studios. We also talked about the end of daylight savings time, the kind soul who found Sara's lost wallet, eating vegan food on the way to the Louisville Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular, and going to various craft fairs. Renee talks about all the local places around Lexington that are offering up Thanksgiving dinners to go and she tells us about some other exciting food news from around town. We play a game of Dorito's Roulette in Everybody Tries, as well as celebrate Lexington Pizza Week by trying a slice from LaRosa's Pizza. We round out the show by talking about the Podcast Question and thinking of other dip scenarios besides the one posed in the social media question, and we tease Renee with the festive treat we have in store for next week's episode. Hello, ya little crostinis topped with beef tartare! On this episode, we celebrate 50 episodes of HINKY with a bang! We all treated ourselves to a fancy dinner at Tony's, a local steakhouse in Lexington, where Sara tried a couple of different foods and loved them all. We took a trip down memory lane back to the first episode (both the pilot episode and the one that actually made it to air), we discussed all of the events making their way back to town this spring, and we tried some Easter-themed cereal in a new mukbang-style segment. The podcast question makes us think about all the restaurants we've lost over the years that we really loved, and the cage match has us talking about our favorite pizza places in central Kentucky. Lots of stuff going on in this episode, so check us out wherever you find podcasts!

Sara and Carrie reminisce about the old days of celebrating the holiday (it's not a sprint, it's a marathon, people!), we talk about how Shamrock's has a very underrated brunch, and how we're starting to finally get back out and go places a year into the pandemic. We have not one, but TWO new items to try in Everybody Tries, plus we read your answers to the Podcast Question about green foods. Finally, we make another tweak to the Food Fight Cage Match, and tbh we think you're really gonna love it! Hello, ya little Oreos! On episode 48 of HINKY, we're back in Fort Lewis studios for an in-person show. Renee got to check out the new Greyline Station downtown, and Carrie and Sara went to investigate the new Goodwood taproom on the south side of town. It's also Renee's birthday, so we discuss the societal norm of both texting AND writing Happy Birthday on someone's Facebook page. Carrie finally makes goetta (spoiler alert: it's good!), and we try some cereal in Everybody Tries. The Podcast Question asks the audience about name brand vs store brand foods, and that continues over to the Food Fight Cage Match too. What did we try this week? Gotta tune in to find out! Hello, ya little king cakes! On episode 47 of HINKY, the gang goes virtual as Lexington, KY has turned into a hellscape nightmare of ice and snow. Sara recounts her harrowing tale of trying to drive to work in 2 separate ice storms, Renee marks a local bakery off her bucket list, and Carrie is super bummed about not being able to run outside. We talk about Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras/Strove Tuesday and which local haunt low-key has amazing Cajun food, plus Sara does a solo Everybody Tries and a very special edition of the cage match called Mardi Gras Brawl. We discuss not one, but TWO podcast questions, and we really dig into the concept of snow cream and other types of comfort foods. Sara is still adjusting to working during the day, Renee went on a mini food tour of central Kentucky, and Carrie is sick and tired of the snow. We try some of the chocolates from a new chocolate shop in Georgetown, Sara sneaks in a surprise Everybody Tries segment, and Renee busts out a game for Carrie and Sara that's she's been sitting on for quite some time. We have an extensive conversation about veganism and Lexington's first-annual Vegan Week, Renee She-Hulked her stovetop, and Sara started a new job! Bacon joins in as our special guest while the humans taste-test the NEW 3D Doritos, and we rank fast-food fries from best to worst! This week's podcast question also deals in potatoes as we ask our listeners which side dish they like better: potato chips or French fries. Hello, ya little donuts! On episode 44 of HINKY, the WHOLE gang is together once again in Fort Lewis studios! That's right, the Bearded Bourbonaire himself, Nate, drops by to say sayonara as he prepares to head to Japan with the US Air Force. We get into what it was like to go through basic training during a worldwide pandemic, how much bourbon one can take with them onto a military base, and what kinds of craft beer might be floating around Tokyo. We talk about eating at several local restaurants this past week, plus we snack on some Oreo-coated popcorn in Everybody Tries. The podcast question brings some controversy (some of y'all don't read the captions on our posts, and it shows), and the Food Fight Cage Match has us trying donuts that look EXACTLY alike. Can we tell the difference between the two based on taste alone? Find out the answer to this, and so much more, by listening to the episode wherever you find podcasts!

Hello, ya little Christmas morning breakfast casseroles! On episode 43 of HINKY, the gang has a relaxing hang out on our last episode of 2020. We recap the Wine & Pop-Tarts/Normal People/Bluegrass Bourbon & Eats presents: I'll Be Sheltering in Place for Xmas charity event, we shame Kroger for being out of literally everything except good charcuterie board cheese, and Renee tells us a couple of things that are happening in the Lexington area. We laugh about how Sara is fresh out of the eye doctor with cartoonishly large pupils and indoor sunglasses, and we try some oddly flavored Lay's potato chips in Everybody Tries. Renee leads us in picking our Christmas superlatives, and we answer the Podcast Question about are go-to Christmas morning meals. This leads us into a rare sighting of the Food Fight Cage Match, where we pit cinnamon rolls from a chain and a local joint together to see which one has the better roll. Who makes it out of the octagon alive? Gotta tune in to find out! Hello, ya little dreidels! On episode 42 of HINKY, the gang has a guest! We welcome our friend Elle, a native New Yorker who just so happens to be Jewish, to tell us all about Hannukah! We wonder if it's crazy to go shopping IRL on Black Friday, and Elle is on the hunt for the perfect set of kitchen knives. Renee tells us about some restaurant news, and Elle drops a knowledge bomb on us with the facts about Hannukah (it's not the Jewish Christmas if that's what you were thinking)! We try some festive Oreos in Everybody Tries, and we had so many answers to the podcast question that we just lumped names into all the available categories! We're joined by Kara Shepherd, event coordinator for the Lexington Legends, our local minor league baseball team. We talk about our early Thanksgiving dinners (all small gatherings, of course), how Carrie got to fit in one last dinner inside of a restaurant for the next few weeks, and how Kara had a nice evening around a bonfire. She was even kind enough to provide us with tickets to give away! We try two pumpkin pie-themed snacks for Everybody Tries, and we read your answers to this week's Podcast Question. We round out the episode with what we're thankful for this year, and a HINKY PSA about supporting your local businesses right now, no matter where you live! Hello, ya little dumplins! On this episode of HINKY, the gang is flying solo in the bourbon room, and we're eating all the carbs. We decide that Renee likes to turn on Feast Mode for the holidays, Carrie has a new slogan for November, and Sara finally gets a win in her fantasy football league! We hear about a new restaurant and lament about missing a big food event here in Lexington. Renee brings us a new segment called Breaking Ranks: Bread Edition, where we rank the complimentary bread from 5 different sit-down restaurants, and we find out your answers to this week's Podcast Question. Plus, after a long hiatus, we dust off the octagon and jump back into the Food Fight Cage Match with one of Sara's least favorite side dishes: mac and cheese. Hello, ya little boo berries! On episode 39 of HINKY, the gang welcomes a return guest! Danielle, aka the Inebriated Baker, is back on the show to get us all liquored up with her boozie cupcakes and to tell us about all the cool stuff she's got planned for the coming months. We try to figure out how #spookyszn became a thing, Danielle and Carrie bond over growing up in the same era, and Danielle shows up to the recording in a rather cozy outfit! Renee hits us with some local news and a Halloween candy bracket (that's totally original and not stolen from the Today show), and we get to be guinea pigs for Danielle's fall line of cupcakes! The Podcast Question has us talking about the worst things people have received in their goodie bags on Halloween, and we issue a HINKY PSA for the upcoming holiday weekend. Hello, ya little maple leaves! On episode 36 of HINKY, it's just us chickens in the bourbon room and we have lots of stuff to talk about. This is our first show after Labor Day so we dubbed this our Fall episode, and there's plenty of talk about (seemingly) everyone's favorite season. Carrie talks about her interview with Faces of Lexington and being carded at a local restaurant, Sara won Fantasy Football week 1 and is MAYBE a baseball fan (?), and Renee checked out the latest installment of the Bluegrass Creative Market. Another restaurant in town is closing and other stories appear in Renee's Reports, Everybody Tries features a seasonal Oreo, and we answer this week's Podcast Question about your (and our) favorite things about Fall. We highlight a local restaurant in a yet-to-be-named new segment and is this the 3rd time in 4 meals that Sara has had Mexican food? Gotta listen to find out! Hello, ya lemonades! On episode 32 of HINKY, we're doing another remote! That's two weeks in a row now, if anyone's keeping count. We spent the afternoon at Mr. Brew's Taphouse with Nate, the owner of Mr. Brew's, and the one-and-only Lauren from Girls Beer Sports! We spent quite a bit of time reminiscing about college life in what was affectionately titled "dorm talk" and we got to talk to Nate about how Mr. Brew's made its way from Wisconsin to Kentucky. We also did a beer pairing featuring Girl Scout cookies, and we discussed your answers to this week's social media question. Hello, ya crispy chicken sammies! On episode 30 of HINKY, the gang is having a good time! We talk about our Fourth of July weekends, Renee's busy week, and the donut burger Sara tried a few days ago. There's also a lot of praising Renee for ALMOST winning $500 on the radio, and whether or not a controversial call went the right way. Everyone Tries has us trying two of our favorite foods mixed together and poses the question we've never thought about before: CHIP Ahoy or CHIPS Ahoy...which is appropriate for a singular cookie? The social media question wanted to know which food you would pick to describe 2020 so far, and you guys had some doozies! The Food Fight Cage Match is back as well! We go back to 2019 and settle the argument once and for all about who has the better chicken sandwich between Chick-Fil-A and Popeye's...or do we? Gotta tune in to find out! Subscribe and listen to this and all other episodes wherever fine podcasts are found.

Hello, ya little cupcakes! On episode 29 of HINKY, the gang welcomes a guest! This week we have Danielle, aka Inebriated Baker, on the show with us and she tries her hardest to get us drunk with her boozy bakes. We talk about the ill-fated food trip we took to Frankfort this week, but it wasn't a total loss! Sara ate A LOT of local food this week (maybe too much?), Renee made a bunch of cookies, and Carrie has been busy with her myriad podcasts. We find out about how Danielle made her way from New York to Kentucky and how she was able to start her awesome business making cupcakes and other treats using every kind of alcohol imaginable. Renee tells us about some more restaurants that are reopening and some that aren't so fortunate. We also sample some West African food from Sav's Grill here in Lexington with raving results! Does Renee actually try goat meat? Gotta listen to the episode to find out! Subscribe to get episodes when they drop, you can find us wherever fine podcasts are found!

Hello there ya little cheez balls! In episode 28, Carrie and Sara are in Fort Lewis studios and Renee is podcasting from her childhood bedroom in Harlan, KY! We start off talking about home-cooked meals and our various food subscription boxes (shout out to Blue Apron and Daily Harvest!), plus we talk about what we've been up to for the past couple of weeks. We hear about some more restaurant reopenings and closures in Renee's Reports and the Fort Lewis crew tries some more novelty snacks. Carrie talks about her neighborhood's block party and the hometown restaurants in this week's anti-social media question (we'll get back to it next week!), plus Sara and Carrie try a beer neither of them has had live on-air! Sara talks about the new local burrito place she tried today and Renee talks about what she'll have to eat at the Dairy Hut tomorrow, plus so much more! Check us out wherever fine podcasts are found!

Hello there, pitas! On episode 27 of HINKY, the gang celebrates 1 year of podcasting! Renee surprises everyone with a beautiful cake courtesy of Batter and Buttercream in Richmond, KY, and we get back to business as usual in Fort Lewis Studios. We talk about being guests on other podcasts and Carrie plays a game of guessing country phrases. We play a round of America's favorite game show, Everyone Tries, and we discuss this week's social media question about gas station snack foods. Since we're finally back together in person, we had the first real Food Fight Cage Match since the quarantine started! The competitors were chosen based on one of those "What people each most in each state" articles, and the results from Kentucky were...intriguing. We also talk about our favorite HINKY memories so far, Carrie's awesome new video game cabinet, and so much more! We hope you've enjoyed the first year of HINKY, you can listen to all our episodes where fine podcasts are found!

Hello, ya Ecto Coolers! On episode 26 of HINKY, the gang dives into a bunch of different discussions. The show starts off with several hot takes about the Cheesecake Factory, and we get into what we've been doing over the past couple of weeks. We talk about Mother's Day celebrations and highlight local businesses La Petite Delicat and Wilson's Grocery. There's a lot of discontinued snack talk, and our listeners had several good ideas of foods they wanna see make a return. Sara tries some weird cookies in a segment called...Sara Tries...and Renee makes us play a mysterious game that was not vetted beforehand, but turns out quite alright! We talk about our fave local appetizers in the Food Fight Cage Match, plus so much more! Check us out and subscribe wherever fine podcasts are found!

Hello, ya little mint juleps! On episode 25 of HINKY, we're still social distancing 😔but that's okay cause we're staying safe with Skype! We wonder out loud why Zoom has completely overtaken Skype as a video chat platform, we talk about how video chatting and social distancing worked out for the NFL draft, and we had plenty of local stuff to talk about this week too! We also played bingo on Instagram, we mourned the loss of the Kentucky Derby in May, and we thoroughly disgusted the entire Internet with our White Castle-themed Podcast poll. The octagon is still out of commission as the Food Fight Cage Match is on a hiatus right now, but we bring out our favorite local drinks to show support to the hard-working Kentuckians in the service industry. Oh, and Sara has not one, but TWO surprises to bring to the show. What does she say that shocks Carrie to her core? Subscribe wherever you find podcasts to find out!

Hey there, peeps! This is episode 2 of the Skype train for us here at Hungry in Kentucky (episode 24 overall) and we attempt to come up with names for our homes since we'll be doing this for a while. We talk about our socially-distant Easter activities, including Renee's dog Easter egg hunt, and we reminisce about high school in honor of this year's high school seniors. Plus, the dream of the 90s is alive in Lexington as we seem to be regressing to the greatest decade of life...so far! We discuss which Easter candies are the best (and the worst), and we jump in on the house meme that's taken over the internet...with a food twist! The food fight cage match involves a nice, relaxing round of local desserts/treats, and this week Sara has some bourbon for our newly-militarized friend Nate. We also have a lively discussion about salmon patties and some other country foods, and now if you'll excuse us we're gonna go eat all of the foods from the house meme. If you enjoy this episode, why not subscribe? You can find us wherever fine podcasts are found!

Hello there, quarantinis! It's our first show without Nate so we lift our drinks to him and his safe travels in the military. And we finally get to use Skype! Unfortunately, it's to talk to each other and not a guest, but we're making the best of a bad situation and we're working hard to keep bringing you all quality content! We talk about what we've been doing at home now that social distancing and self-isolation are in full effect here in Kentucky, and Renee and Sara talk about how it feels to work in a hospital during this COVID-19 outbreak. There's also a lot of restaurant talk - how you can help support your favorite local places and which places we've been supporting so far - and we ask a couple of questions on social media about your eating habits. The Food Fight Cage Match is a little tricky to manage when we're not in the same place, so for this episode, we all decided to get food from a local restaurant of our choosing and talk about what eating. Renee reads us some funny memes she saw online and so much more, so listen now wherever fine podcasts are procured!

Hello, ya little noodles! In episode 22 of HINKY, the gang takes the show on the road to Pivot Brewing in Lexington, KY! We celebrated our friend and co-host Nathan as he is leaving us for the Air Force, and this was his last episode with us before he takes off. And it might have been our last episode together in the same room for quite some time, so we're glad that everyone was able to come out and join us before all the quarantining and shutdowns went into effect. On that note...HUGE DISCLAIMER: when we recorded this episode we mentioned an event that was supposed to take place this coming week, and it goes without saying that because of the COVID-19 outbreak this event has been canceled. We still wish to promote this and every other small business, so if you're in the Lexington area please keep buying their products when possible, or at the very least give them a follow on social media. Anywho...we talk about our favorite/most popular war movies and Nate wants everyone to know that he's already licked every doorknob in the central KY area so if you weren't worried about getting coronavirus before...haha just joking, he didn't do that, it's just our weird way of coping with the situation. We also talk about if people here really like bourbon and which bourbon is the best to start with if you got sick off it in the past. Be careful getting around the octagon, it may be messy because we threw fettuccine alfredo into the Food Fight Cage Match! Of course, we all had drinks from Pivot's fine selection of ciders...even Renee had a Kentucky Sunrise so you know it must be good! All this and more can be heard wherever you find podcasts!

Hello, ya little s'mores! On episode 21 of HINKY, the gang welcomes some guests! Mat and Hanna from S'more Than a Feeling join us for a fun-filled show where we talk about all kinds of good stuff. We recap Lexington Coffee and Tea week with Sara's top 5 drinks, plus we preview Crave Taco Week, taking place THIS week (3/2/20-3/8/20) and discuss whether Lexington should spread these weeks out a little more since they're so bunched up right now. We also celebrate some birthdays: both Renee and Mat were born on this day, along with a bunch of other people...it's a very popular birthday haha! This week's social media question finds us making a case for other desserts over birthday cake, and we fill Mat and Hanna in on our ongoing hot fudge feud. The Food Fight Cage Match has the birthday boy in the ring cooking up some homemade s'mores for us to try, and spoiler alert: they're amazing! If you're in the central KY area you need to come out to one of their pop-ups, so follow them on Instagram and Facebook to see where they're going to be at this spring! Hello, babycakes! On episode 20 of HINKY, the gang celebrates Mardi Gras...kinda. We don't throw beads or eat king cake, but we do talk a little about the history of Mardi Gras while we eat and drink a lot! We reminisce about the Hot Ones challenge from our last episode and wonder why it's okay to wear a hat in one part of a fancy restaurant but not in another. Renee tests our knowledge of Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans, and we talk about covering both Lexington Coffee and Tea Week AND Richmond Burger Week on the blog. This week's social media questions ask what you would be willing to give up for Lent and if you like Cajun foods, while we get all comfy in the octagon and eat food from Bourbon & Toulouse in the Food Fight Cage Match! How did Nate survive the weekend? You'll ask yourself the same question when you hear what all he did haha! All of this and a lot more await you in this extremely goofy episode of Hungry in Kentucky! Hello there, hot ones! On episode 19 of HINKY, the gang had a lot to talk about so hopefully you're ready for an hour and a half of straight fire! We talk about Carrie's new business venture, Nate expresses his love of Shakira and Latin music as we recap the Super Bowl LIV halftime show, and we wrap up Lexington Chicken Sandwich Week with Renee's MySpace Top 8: Chicken Sandwich edition. We hear some good news and some bad news in Renee's Reports, and we subject Nate to his worst nightmare in our HINKY Hot Ones challenge. How spicy is TOO spicy? This is the question we posed for our social media friends this week, and you guys did not disappoint with the answers! We munch on some of those sweet, sweet chicken wings from Indi's here in Lexington during the Food Fight Cage Match, and we try a new way of promoting ourselves on the show. Did it work? Only one way to find out! Subscribe to us on your favorite podcast app to hear this and all past episodes, and tell your friends - everyone needs a new favorite show in their lives, why not let it be us!

Hello, ya little football fans! On episode 18 of HINKY we're talkin' bout the Super Bowl! We make predictions (or just pick who we want to win, really) for Super Bowl LIV, which will feature the Chiefs vs the 49er's, and we briefly talk Super Bowl halftime shows of years past. This week's social media question is a poll: which do you like better? Buffalo chicken wings or buffalo chicken dip? We discuss our preferences and read off your answers as well as reveal the results of the poll from Twitter and Instagram. There's also a quiz called "How Kentucky Are You?" courtesy of Kentucky for Kentucky, and we throw buffalo chicken dip into the octagon for another edition of the Food Fight Cage Match. Hello, ya little gluten-free miracles! On episode 17 of HINKY, the gang welcomes a guest! Leigh, co-host of the podcast Girls Beer Sports with our dope producer Carrie, comes on to talk about living with Celiac Disease and where she can find good things to eat around central Kentucky. Carrie debuts her shiny new toy (complete with flashing lights and sound effects!), we recount our NYE festivities, and Nathan tells us about a tasty rye offering from a local distillery here in Lexington. Leigh tells us about the science behind what happens to your body when you suffer from gluten-intolerance, what to look for when you go out to eat if you're following a gluten-free diet, and what kinds of alcohol she can drink. We discuss our New Years' resolutions/intentions, and we even throw some gluten-free treats into the cage when we try some baked goods from Gluten Free Miracles, a local bakery here in Lexington that serves only gluten-free items, as well as keto, paleo, and vegan options. This is definitely a fun episode, y'all are about to learn a lesson or two when you listen to this one! Hello, ya little mistletoes! On episode 16 of Hungry in Kentucky, the ladies of the show go solo for a Christmas-themed church basement potluck! Well, there wasn't actually a potluck, but we did talk about them quite a bit! We recap our last episode, the live remote from Broomwagon Coffee + Bikes, and talk a lot about what we did while we were away from the microphone. There was also extensive talk about Christmas traditions, with AND without food options, and we discuss our own personal experiences with family during the holidays. The Food Fight Cage Match saw competitors joining forces for the good of humanity and tasting some sweet Christmas treats, and Renee gets us geared up for the New Year with some fun January events! 'Tis the season...#potluckszn...so if you want to celebrate the holidays with us then give us a listen! Hello, ya little mimosas! This is our first remote podcast episode live at Broomwagon Coffee + Bikes in Lexington, KY as a part of Mayhem and Mimosas: A Very Wine & Pop-Tarts Christmas VI! The gang takes the show out of Fort Lewis studios and into a bike shop/cafe for a good cause - a canned food drive for God's Pantry! We talked with the creator of this annual Christmas show, Brett Smith of Wine & Pop-Tarts, about how this came about and what you can expect to see and hear at one of these events. We went rogue with the electrical situation and recorded with battery power so we had to cut the time kinda short, but we think you'll enjoy this light version of the show just the same! We hear about everyone's Thanksgiving festivities (spoiler: Carrie was the only one who had a successful one), Renee brings us the only news that matters on the airwaves: local food news and Nathan talks about his recent rare bourbon purchases. We ditch the Food Fight Cage Match this week and replace it with dishes from the Broomwagon cafe, and everyone gets to try local versions of their favorite wintry drinks. If you weren't present for the rest of the day, you missed out on some treats: there was live music from Normal People, and Brett showed us the world-premiere of his newest horror film, Little Smokies. He tells us his inspiration for the film on the podcast, so listen now to hear the horror of it all! You'll be able to see Little Smokies on YouTube in a few months, but hopefully, this episode will tide you over until then. Hello, ya little turkeys! On episode 14 of HINKY, it's Thanksgiving time and boy howdy, do we celebrate America's most underrated holiday right! Carrie regales us with her November slogan, "Make Thanksgiving Great Again", Nathan makes his case for why he prefers Thanksgiving over Christmas, Renee tries to justify having her Christmas trees up early, and we change the name of Christmas to Thanksgiving 2: Electric Boogaloo! We discuss everyone's favorite Thanksgiving side dishes, Sara educates the group on banana croquettes, Nathan gives us his Bourbon of the Week and we hear some good news stories during our new segment, Renee's Reports! This week's Food Fight Cage Match features a fan-favorite side dish, mashed potatoes, and the results are wild, to say the least! We hear about some local events and so much more, so subscribe and download to hear this and all of our past episodes now! We're on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play, Stitcher, and Podbean.

We talk about last week's Lexington Pizza Week festivities, your favorite unique pizza toppings, whether or not we like pineapple on pizza, and so much more! We even throw it way back to episode 1 with the Food Fight Cage Match by tossing pizza's favorite side dish, cheese sticks, into the ring to see who survives the octagon! We also have Nate's Bourbon of the Week, Renee's News Corner, too much onion talk, and Renee's Events Corner to keep you up-to-date on the happenings of Lexington, KY. Nate poses a question of expertise, Carrie and Sara have an extended conversation about UK campus food throughout the years, and Renee gets really worked up about Wendy's sweet and sour. Hello, ya spoopy little ghosts! In this episode of HINKY, we welcome guest Brett from Wine & Pop-Tarts to the show! Since we're two days out from Halloween, we decided to have a spooky-themed show with a lot of talk about horror movies and Halloween candy. Brett tells us what's coming up next from Wine & Pop-Tarts, and we discuss Carrie's harrowing trip home from Paris. We find out about everyone's favorite Halloween costumes, and Brett and Sara reveal how they know each other (spoiler: Carrie was very surprised)! We talk about the closure of a new local restaurant, getting to (finally) check out a brewery near and dear to Carrie's heart, and Nathan tells us about his bourbon of the week. Plus we settle an age-old question with the help of social media, talk about the cultural impact of soda, and try out a popular treat that Sara has never heard of somehow. Hello, ya little chicken wings! In this episode of HINKY, the gang celebrates 10 episodes by having a chicken-filled extravaganza! We discuss Sara and Renee's trip to the World Chicken Festival in London, KY, and fried chicken throws down in the Food Fight Cage Match with KFC taking on a beloved-yet-unlikely competitor...guess you'll have to listen to find out the identity of this mysterious fighter! We also hear about Nathan's first full shift as a beertender, and we get way into fall festivals all across Kentucky, which definitely prompted the title of this episode. There's a mention of UK football as well, but Carrie doesn't exactly remember watching the game so we kind of just gloss over that forgettable Saturday night. Hello, my little pumpkin spice lattes! On this episode of HINKY, the gang celebrates the beginning of the fall season by covering Carrie's podcast table in tons of snacks that may or may not actually be fall flavors. Sara and Nathan try to shoe-horn some Letterkenny talk into the podcast to mixed results, while the women of the table are upset about the outcome of the latest Kentucky football game. We also talk about your favorite fall foods and drinks, and Renee makes us play a drinking game that could be dangerous if you're drinking the wrong type of alcohol. Hello, my little funnel cakes! On this episode of Hungry in Kentucky, we have guests! We were unfortunately without Renee this time, but we made up for her absence by having on two of our favorite coworkers, Desiree and Aaron! There's A LOT of talk about fair foods, and Nathan and Aaron give us a lesson on how to jump into the bourbon game. We also hear about Carrie's wild Saturday night, which ended on top of Manchester Music Hall, and Sara changes the words to a popular rock song #clawlife! The Food Fight Cage Match involved some birthday-themed cupcakes in honor of Carrie's birthday, and it may have been the closest match yet!
