To find out WHAT is happening, WHO the stakeholders are, HOW to interpreter and WHAT has to happen to get the full potential out of this developments and how to transform this into a sustainable model.

At “future of work” conferences there is usually a lot of talk about gig workers. Opportunities to talk with gig workers are much less common, however, even though they are arguably the most important stakeholder group out there. After all, it is their future that is at stake here. To include gig workers in a debate that is essentially about their lives and livelihoods, this session is structured around the questions and comments they bring to the table. What are their perspectives, priorities and uncertainties? What changes would they like to see with respect to how their work is organized and valued – if any? And is there even a unified “they” to begin with?

At the World Interdisciplinary Network for Institutional Research (WINIR) conference the roundtable "ICT, open societies and new institutions" was organised.
In this roundtable the question 'are platforms a new type of institution' was raised by 3 experts in the field:
José van Dijck (Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences) raised the question and context on 'Do platforms bypass of replace institutions?'
Fredrik Söderqvist (Unionen shared some highly interesting thoughts on 'How to unite unions, platforms and government through algorithms?'
Haroon Sheikh (Dasym Investment Strategies) shared a global perspective on the organisation and control of the platform society.
After the 3 presentations there was a discussion between the panelists and the audience.
