There are myriad new firearm owners and 2A advocates/activists out there. When someone is new and still learning the jargon in "our world," often times they will use the wrong word or phrase and well-meaning but tactless keyboard warriors will light them up faster than than a doobie at a Snoop Dogg concert. We also see people on news outlets, both pundits and politicians, constantly misuse words or phrases. Some times they DO know what they are saying, but most times I believe they just don't know any better. That's where WE come in.
Let's discuss some of the more common words that are used incorrectly, and then offer a better word or phrase to use. As always, we will need some audience participation to help list the common mistakes we see from both new firearm owners AND media pundits/politicians.

Over the years, I have heard multiple firearms instructors oppose Constitutional Carry because they fear it will affect their livelihood. The facts do not support that.

We do not treat any other right as listed in the constitution the same way the 2nd Amendment gets treated. We do not place prior restraint upon our rights to speech, worship, illegal search and seizure, due process, or any others, EXCEPT our right to keep and bear arms. For THAT right, and ONLY that right, we must first ask permission from the State to bear a firearm in a concealed fashion in public. We must ask the State for a PERMIT to exercise a RIGHT. As a free American, I find that unacceptable.
The Supreme Court of the United States, apparently, agrees. Justice Thomas, in his opinion on New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen, wrote "The constitutional right to bear arms in public for self-defense is not 'a second-class right, subject to an entirely different body of rules than the other Bill of Rights guarantees."

We hear all the time that our nation's greatest resource is our children, the next generation of Americans. We also hear all the time that we need to "teach our sons not to (fill in the blank)." And yet, when someone says we also need to "teach our daughters not to (fill in a different blank), we get called out for "victim shaming," or "body shaming," or "having a double standard."
I say we need to teach ALL of our young people, sons and daughters alike, that they have value, that their value does NOT rest in the opinions of others, and it also does not rest in their physical appearance or any willingness to be promiscuous.
Let's talk about what society would look like if we would just teach the next generation to value their own self-worth, their bodies, their health, their virtue, and everything else that makes them unique, special, and VALUABLE. Just imagine an America where they grow up to be self-respecting, patriotic, and, dare I say it, GOD-FEARING adults.

We heard for 2 years that "All Cops Are B*stards," and that we need to defund the police. We also hear year after year after year, ad nauseum, that, "NO ONE NEEDS AN AR-15!!!"

Like it or not, we ALL have been affected in some way by the "virus" that shut down the world. This is especially true for firearms owners, of which there are roughly 20 million newcomers.

Are you a grown adult? Are you capable of making your own decisions? Are you capable of making GOOD decisions, INFORMED decisions? Can you distinguish between fact and fiction?
Most Americans over the age of 20 (I REALLY want to say 25) can answer YES to any of those questions. Any American who is trying to make their way in the world under their own steam instead of living off the government teat should be able to answer YES to ALL of those questions.
The government doesn't think so. The government thinks you are too irresponsible, too childish, too dependent on them, and ultimately too INDOCTRINATED to answer YES to those questions.
Let's talk about how the government wants to treat you like you're 5 years old and make all your decisions for you. They want to be your daddy and tell you THEY know what's best for you. That is the very OPPOSITE of the principles upon which that very government was founded.

Is it the function of the government to be the protector of the citizens? If so, to what extent? Should the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches assume TOTAL responsibility for our safety and ensure that no harm will ever come to us? Of course not. Safety is an illusion, and anyone who tells you otherwise is most likely a politician. Let's discuss the true functions of the government, how the government is expected, and able, to guarantee our safety, and how I think that it is not the purpose of government to keep us SAFE, but instead to keep us FREE. We are then expected to use that freedom to take responsibility of our own safety.

There are MILLIONS of new firearm owners out there in the US, and not everyone knows where to go for GOOD info. A new firearm owner most likely has a multitude of questions, and they can't all be answered with common sense or by asking a friend or neighbor.
Can I carry without a permit? Where can I carry my firearm? When am I justified using my firearm? HOW do I carry it, what kind of holster, belt, etc. do I need? Will I have to adjust the way I dress with spring and summer coming?

Remington recently settled out of court for $73 million with the families of the Sandy Hook victims who filed a lawsuit. Everyone has been talking about how slippery that slope may turn out to be, but there are a few other questions that I have been asking. Why stop at Remington? Who else can we hold accountable for the actions of a disturbed, murderous animal? (I will not name him or even acknowledge his humanity.) Also, the plaintiffs claim that part of the marketing done on that rifle links manhood with violent murderers, and I take exception to that. We will discuss how being a MAN does NOT make one inherently violent, and it DEFINITELY does not make one aggressive.

Recently a Constitutional Carry bill was heard in committee in the Nebraska Legislature, one of 7 states to introduce such legislation in 2022 (NE, IN, WI, OH, AL, GA, FL). I'm sure you've heard the saying, "Don't talk about politics or religion." It seems to be a saying dating at least as far back as our grandparents' day. But just how much, exactly, has such a sentiment COST our society?
I think as a whole, our society has lost the ability to have a meaningful conversation regarding politics and religion. They were treated as a social "third rail" for so long, that now in 2021, very few are able to have a true DISCUSSION. Lately politics have been a HOTLY debated topic, but without the ability to DISCUSS, most people simply want to tell you why they are right and you are wrong, regardless of what you say or why you're saying it. Religion has become such a taboo that many are now scared to even pray in public, much less share their convictions or learn about a faith different from their own.
We are joined by Lloyd Bailey of Armed Lutheran Radio, Jake Wiskerchen of Walk The Talk America, and Yehuda Remer, the Pew Pew Jew.

A lot of social media platforms are in the process of purging what they dub "misinformation" from users' posts. They act as though there is an organized "misinformation campaign" being led by those who don't believe or agree with everything the news and the government say.

Advocating for the 2nd Amendment doesn't have to cost thousands or millions of dollars, it doesn't have to take up hours upon hours each week, and you don't need any special abilities in order to do it. There are MYRIAD things that you can do to advocate for the 2nd Amendment, and not all of them are gestures on a large scale such as staging a 2A rally or range event. You can write letters and emails and make phone calls to your local, state, and national elected representatives. You can even just let the world see that you're a gun owner and you are still a law-abiding, background check-passing citizen. Let's sit down with a panel of 2A advocates and talk about what they are doing, and what YOU can do, to help advocate for the 2nd Amendment.

Let's talk about that basic rule that most of us got told by mom or dad: "Keep your hands to yourself, and don't worry about anyone but YOU." There are an awful lot of people right now sticking their noses into others' business, where they have no right to be. The government is also overstepping its bounds in a lot of circumstances, where it also has no right to be. Let's talk about that and how the Constitution LIMITS THE GOVERNMENT, it doesn't empower the government to limit the people.
