The Kingdom of God has come near to us. This is not a cute phrase but a powerful reality that Jesus left for His disciples to teach & demonstrate until He returns.

{historically, traditionally, culturally, and ecclesiastically} Christmas is a time of great expectation. But something that is often overlooked is the fact that Christmas reminds not just in December, but everyday of the year -- that since God is with us, we can be EXPECTANT for the miraculous among us. Which means that even though December has come and gone, the power of Christ remains with us.

Moments before He was betrayed, arrested, falsely accused, beaten, and crucified -- Jesus was in a garden, praying. And it was in this place and at this time and in these circumstances , that He gave one of His last invitations to us all, 'Watch with Me'.

One of the most awesome invitations in Scripture is found in James 4:8 'Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you'. There are no pre-conditions. No requirements. No pre-requisites. There is just the invitation to all of us -- to draw near to God... and the invitation comes with a promise that when we do, He draws near to us. Meaning that God responds to us by our response to Him. {Because of this} We are looking at and learning how to DRAW NEAR to God in unconventional/uncommon, yet practical/tangible ways by studying the Early Church in Acts 2.

A special message to the Fathers, but for all of us. Psalm 127 3-5a says 'Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.'
We live IN THE MIDST OF a complaining culture, that literally searches for things to complain about. All of the complaining is exhausting and depleting people everywhere of joy, hope, and peace. Despite living IN THE MIDST OF such a culture, the people of God are commanded to not grumble, but give gratitude

The world continues to fall apart, and God continues to look for someONE {just one}, to Take a STAND before Him on behalf of people everywhere.
One of the indisputable realities that every person is born with, is the reality of straining to achieve fulfillment & reaching for significance. Because of this, many of us live and spend our lives going nowhere and reaching nothing -- but because Jesus, we no longer have to live this way. Happy Easter from Venue Church.
There is a lot of talk about revival within the Church but something we need to understand is that our desire to see our city restored to God is directly proportioned to OUR desire to seek God for our city. All around us, the condition of our cities and the lives of the people in our cities -- are IN GREAT TROUBLE, and God is looking for a Nehemiah in our day, who will respond like Nehemiah in his day. Because of this, for the next 21 days, we will weep & mourn, pray & fast.

In the last book of the Old Testament {Malachi}, God reminds His people of a great principal of His, that carries with it a great promise from Him. A promise that all of us want HAVE, but a principal that few of us want to HEAR. Knowing our human proclivity to remove ourselves from this principal, God issues a promise to us and says 'SEE IF I WONT...'; which isn't a threat, but an invitation.

Often times when we hear the word Revival — we think of & talk of it in terms of a societal Revival -- i.e. The Great Awakenings, Azusa Street, The Jesus Movement …along w/ many others both in America & Abroad. What we fail to realize is that long before any Revival ever took place societally, it first took place individually ...within individuals who were overwhelmed by the mercy & love of God. Individuals who were hungry for God & desperate for God to move. Revival is birthed in here [in me / in you / in the Church] …before it blossoms out there [in society / in the city].

Every family has RITUALS and the RITUALS of a family help shape the family. As it pertains to this series, the definition of the word RITUAL means 'a series of actions or type of behavior, regularly & invariably followed by someone'. With this as our working definition, in our RITUALS series, we will look at the three core values of Venue Church that help shape us in following and becoming more like Jesus.

Whether its with one another or within ourselves -- we need to have some tough conversations. Regardless of our personality type -- we need to have some tough conversations. Conversations we have been avoiding. Conversations we are putting putting off. Conversations we are ignoring. Conversations that are personally effecting us and conversations that we are presently unaware of. Tough Conversations. Because a tough conversation had is always better than a conversation unsaid.

Within the fabric of scripture, the Lord has given us spoken standards that we are to live out in and with our lives. But woven into that fabric are specific unspoken standards that we are to live out in and with our lives as well. Whatever is interfering with us from living these unspoken standards out, needs to be CHOPPED from our lives immediately.

Times may change. Seasons may change. Style may change. People may change. But what continues to not change is our proclivity to look in all the wrong places for life.
The scriptures clearly call us to CELEBRATE TOGETHER ...& we have something great to CELEBRATE -- & His name is Jesus.
The church is increasingly being compelled to stop by force. To stop praying. To stop worshipping. To stop giving. To stop serving. To stop confessing. To stop repenting. To stop gathering. To stop BUILDING. Despite this being the case, we have a mandate and a mission, given by Christ -- to not only BUILD, but to BUILD TOGETHER.
Whether it be the history of the people of God or the future for the people of God, scripture teaches us and shows us that the people of God are to be GATHER TOGETHER.
Regardless of the problem or the issue. Regardless of the hardship or loss. At all times and in all circumstances, if you have Christ, you have The UPPER HAND.
Young or old, male or female ---- every believer has a personal responsibility to defend the house of the Lord from any and all enemies by keeping the Lord's House the Lord's House and by keeping with the Purpose of the Lord's House.
There is work to be done! & Contrary to popular opinion and accepted assumption; the work is not for the pastors to do but for everyone in Christ to do.
We live in a world that grades & gauges significance, worth, & importance based on numbers. The more followers you have and likes you get — the more important you are. The more money you have — the more you are worth. The more people that come — the more significant you are. But we belong to a Kingdom that is built on a principle and a promise that regardless of what we are up against and despite all that we are facing...regardless of the how it looks and despite being outnumbered --- it ONLY takes ONE.
Even in our most complacent moments and our most lethargic times, God is seeking after us. God is drawing near to us. God is knocking on the door of our hearts and this is where our HUNGER all starts. Its not with us, but with Him.
Many times in life we remain unaware that despite the words we are speaking to another person, our expression is saying something completely different. Whether we recognize it or not, this reality regularly transitions into our faith and is especially visible in the songs we sing and the prayers we pray, and thus our relationship with the Lord. We sing and pray one thing, but our expression says something completely different. To HUNGER for the Lord is to put our words and EXPRESSION in sync: because there is is POWER in EXPRESSION.
There are times in life when we determine the measure of God in our lives and for our lives, based upon how much or how little we have. What we have to realize is LITTLE is MUCH in the HANDS of Jesus and that He can do MUCH with our LITTLE; all we have to do is BRING it to Him.
Often times we size up and qualify the outcome of seasons, scenes, and situations of life based upon how the 'numbers' appear on paper, even before anything happens; thereby devaluing, degrading, and diminishing powerful moments for God to come thru and move in our lives. Its in times like these that we think 'theres not enough' or 'there are very few of us', but what we have to realize is that there is POWER with just a FEW.
Have you ever felt Dry? Deserted? Desolate? Have you ever felt like you are in a physical and spiritual desert? You know, an ugly wasteland that we are eager to get through and past. In this weeks message, Pastor Garrett teaches on how each of us, man & women alike, are called by God REACH people with such intensity that we kick up dust.
In this weeks message, Pastor Garrett teaches on how we need to have a plan to REACH more people, including how God is calling Venue Church to reach more people in 2018 and how we all can tangibly be involved in it.
In this weeks message, Pastor Garrett teaches on how this thing that we call Christianity isnt something hypothetical or metaphorical, but something tangible and practical and functional -- that community is always included!
In this week message, Pastor Garrett teaches on how its not what we do or dont do that makes us AUTHENTIC, but how being wholly | entirely | utterly BELONGING to the Lord is what it means to be AUTHENTIC.
In this weeks message, Pastor Garrett teaches on how despite the many differences between us and about us, when we are in Christ, we are DIFFERENT but the SAME.

We live in an anxious society and whether it be global, societal, or personal; the majority of people today are struggling with the crippling and paralyzing reality of anxiety.
