Rich Thornton has spent a lifetime, well not yet, looking at everyday experiences and seeing the humor in them as well as the difficulties and triumphs as well. Join him on this excursion of finding more about life, faith, today, and forever.
44 … finally finished radiation! No more going in every week day for radiation and having to adjust my intake daily. But I will miss the kind staff there and especially the guys I got to know while waiting for our treatments.
39 Often life doesn’t go the way we planned. The plan for me was to have 40 radiation treatments done now and to be done this Friday. Oh but the problems that computers can bring. But I’ll get to the end next week.
29 Radiation days down and 15 to go. Only three weeks from today I’ll be done. I will certainly be glad when these treatments are finished but I’ve been depending on God so much, which is so good.
5 My fifth radiation treatment went smoothly. Later in the day however I got tired and very hungry. Fortunately that was taken care of. Get some rest. I needed to and did.
4 It’s so good to get a weekend off from my radiation, even knowing that I still have 40 more to go. Good to relax a little and prepare mentally to go back at it again. Good to think of my family and friends who are thinking of me and praying for me.
I was thinking about how tired I was yesterday but today after a good sleep last night I got back out walking. And I started thinking about what’s next for our family vacation. Thinking about the future is a good thing.
1 My day began with a message that I was being prayed for today. It helped calm me to get ready for the first radiation treatment.
-1 Tomorrow 44 days begin for me…of radiation. So today I am definitely trying to ignore it and downplay it…and close my eyes to it.
-2. It's two days before 44 days...of radiation. Just keeping it real and remembering, looking ahead, and believing.
Have you ever had someone that you didn't know wave at you while you were out walking but then you wondered if maybe you did know them a little bit anyway? Does it make a difference to be friendly with people we may or may not know? Let's think about that for a moment.
Did you ever find yourself on the road or just somewhere in life and you needed some help? Perhaps God sent you someone, an angel perhaps? Whoever it was they were used by God to help you. God is always there for you
Thoughts on what goes in the mind and how it mixes together. And then comes out of our mind. How is that working for you?
Hope is a great idea. We all need it. We all want it. To be hopeless is so damaging to our very being. Fortunately for us, we can find hope. Hope is available to everyone. For free.
Maybe you are stressed out about the American elections. Or how Halloween is different this year. Perhaps you are upset that "church" is so different now. Take a breath and find peace.
Life is full of aside trips. You head in one direction and you venture off and take an aside. We say things and take asides in the conversation. Sometimes they are helpful and sometimes not so much.
Often we think that loving Jesus like a child is optional. Sometimes we think that what we have is ours and we hold onto it. But is it?
Awakened by new friendships in 1968, racism reared its angry head. Rich tells a real story of sticking together and protecting each other.
Sometimes it's the everyday experiences that point us towards something we still need to learn. Maybe you can relate to missing what's in front of you but then seeing beyond. Or maybe you just need to put air in your tires!
