I'm celebrating the fourth anniversary of my hearing loss today! I'm celebrating it because it caused a major disruption in my life and in my health. It got my attention and led to me totally transforming my life! My word of the year is Disruption, and disrupting the status quo can help us quantum leap to the next level of our life.
I had an allergic reaction to CBD that caused my blood pressure to elevate to stroke level. I spent 4 days in the hospital and 4 months at home mostly in bed or at doctors appointments dealing with not only the hearing loss and tinnitus but also severe vertigo. It was so bad that I was on daily medication and had to have physical therapy and daily trips to Georgetown University Hospital for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. My daughter and a couple of friends drove me every weekday for 3 weeks straight. One thing that I did was be vocal online about my situation and that Sudden Hearing Loss is a medical emergency.
I know a lot of you listening have had things disrupt your life like illnesses, bankruptcies, divorce, job loss, all kinds of things! I'm here to let you know that just like we have joy and pain, we need the opposite. Everything is not always going to go the way that we want it to go. But we can still have an amazing life!

Today's episode is a conversation that I had with Diane Santos. Diane worked for 20 years in food services at a casino, and one day her company decided that her department was going to be outsourced. She realized she had a huge opportunity to do something different and to reinvent herself!
During our conversation she also shares about a TikTok that she made about her life that went viral. Diane's soul mate passed away unexpectedly when she was in her 40's, and she shares how that experience and her grief journey helped her to navigate her life.
