Grocery store gardening is the way to go! I had great success in growing Garlic by planting garlic cloves I purchased from the grocery store. For each clove I planted I got a bulb back. Not a bad deal.

Why did my plant all of the sudden get really tall with small wrinkly leaves? It bolted. This is when the plant moves from the life stage of prime leaf production to flower and producing seeds. It is a fascinating process to watch and even though production goes down, I love to watch the plant fulfill its destiny.
We must use the gifts of the earth wisely and putting leaves in plastic bags is foolish. Start composting today!

Home grown collards fast delicious, when you are hungry. That is true for so many healthy foods. Maybe let yourself get hungry so the collards taste better.
A Bed is the part of a yard where the plants are growing and a raised bed is usually a amount or container that allows the surface of the bed to be higher than the area around.
Compost to reduce the amount of trash you send to the landfill. That is reason enough to start. Get good soil for your garden? Reason enough to keep going.
Stop your problem before it starts. Remove eggs from leaves whenever you can. Look for the bright neon yellow egg cluster. It will be flat against the leaf.
Cabbage worms hide down along the stall where the leafy first comes out. The way the leaf twists it looks a bit like an ear.
If you are picking cabbage worms every day, don’t worry if you miss one, tomorrow the worm will be bigger.
The collards plant growing on its own is suffering. Transitioning from lawn to veggi beds might not be a quick transition.
It is the same effort to harvest and clean a small leaf as a big leaf so my advice: maximize leaf size.
Sunny and well drained. Those are the basic requirements for a spot that will make plants happy.
Your soil will degrade and need to be amended. Material must always be added. Compost is the best way to get this material.
Soil is one of the four ‘S’s’ of Success gardening. Either you are lucky and there is good soil where you live. Or you need to buy or build soil. Building soil is easy, it is called compost and I will talk more about it tomorrow.
