What if God’s path to your promised land isn’t the fastest, but the safest? In this episode of Your Life, Dan DeBruler and Dr. Tony Hare walk through Exodus 13:17–22 and explore why God sometimes “reroutes” us—protecting us from battles we’re not ready for and preparing us for the ones ahead. From relationships and marriage to church life and calling, they talk about letting go, being led, and finding peace in obedience. You’ll hear:* Why shortcuts can sabotage spiritual growth * How God’s detours are mercy, not punishment * What it means to stand at the edge of your wilderness * Practical ways to follow God’s lead—day or night
Scripture: Exodus 13:17–22
Key ideas: obedience, patience, discernment, mentorship, spiritual formation, protection vs. preparation. If you’re facing a big decision, don’t despise the longer journey—God may be protecting you from what you can’t see and preparing you for what He’s promised.
Why do we so often long for the past while overlooking the blessings of the present? In this episode, Dr. Tony Hair and Dan De Bruer unpack the biblical tension between had and have. Through the lens of the Israelites’ complaints in the wilderness, they reveal how distorted memories can rob us of gratitude, why grumbling blinds us to God’s provision, and how choosing conversation with God over complaint changes everything. Listeners will discover:* The danger of romanticizing the past (Exodus 16, Numbers 11) * How complaining distorts reality and blocks gratitude * Why gratitude is the antidote to discontent * How to replace grumbling with honest conversation with God
If you’ve ever struggled with discontentment or found yourself missing what was instead of appreciating what is, this discussion will equip you to shift perspective, cultivate gratitude, and honor God with a heart of contentment.
What are you aiming at in life—success, comfort, recognition, or something greater? In this teaching, we dive into the biblical perspective of living with a clear aim: to please God. Drawing from 2 Corinthians 5 and John 15, we examine how our daily choices reveal where our aim is truly set. You’ll discover:* Why Paul’s words about “making it our aim” matter for us today * The difference between aiming to please self and aiming to please God * How to keep perspective through the lens of eternity and the judgment seat of Christ * The joy of remaining connected to Jesus as the true source of fulfillment
Whether you’re in a boardroom, at home with family, or facing tough decisions, this conversation will inspire you to re-align your aim with what truly matters.
Your greatest battles may not be against the world around you, but within your own mind.
In this episode of Your Life, hosts Dr. Tony Haire and Dan DeBruler discuss the power of thoughts, the dangers of defilement from within, and the life-changing call to take every thought captive.
Through biblical insight and practical reflection, they reveal how our thought life influences our behavior, relationships, and spiritual growth. From understanding Jesus’ teaching in Mark 7 to applying Paul’s wisdom in 2 Corinthians 10, this conversation challenges you to examine what you think, why you think it, and how to renew your mind through God’s Word.
Join us as we uncover how to build a firm foundation for life, resist the negative influences around us, and help others by becoming spiritually strong ourselves. Your thoughts shape your reality—so it’s time to take control of the battle within.
So often we wonder: “Why don’t people listen to me?”
In this teaching, we explore that very question through the lens of Jesus’ first miracle—turning water into wine at Cana. We’ll look at how Jesus earned trust, demonstrated humility, and served others in ways that gave His words lasting weight. You’ll learn:* Why trust and consistency are essential to being heard
* How humility opens the door for influence
* Why serving others creates space for real communication
* What Jesus’ miracle reveals about building credibility
Whether at home, work, or church, these lessons help us move from frustration to influence—so that what we say truly matters.
The Question That Matters: "What does God want to see?"
It's not just what others see in us, or even what we want to show.
The real question is: What does God desire to see when He looks at your life?
Paul gives us the answer in Colossians 1:27 – Christ in you, the hope of glory.
“You can’t live in the world’s image and fulfill God’s purpose.”
In this inspiring and thought-provoking episode of Your Life, Dr. Tony Haire and Dan DeBruler dive deep into the question: "Whose image are you living in?" Anchored in Numbers 13–14, they examine the contrast between those who saw themselves through the world's eyes—and Caleb and Joshua, who saw themselves through God's image.
They explore how your self-image, when detached from God’s truth, leads to fear, hesitation, and missed opportunities. But when you see yourself the way God sees you, everything changes—from how you walk, to how you witness, to how you lead.
Whether you're navigating personal struggles, past failures, or labels others have placed on you, this episode will help you recenter your identity on the unchanging truth of God’s Word.

One day. Three choices. A Christ-centered mindset.
Choose and display the right attitude (Phil 2:3-8)
* Determine anc act on important priorities (Eph 5:15-17)
* Practice and develop good thinking (Prov 4:5-9)*
In Luke 10 the disciples return thrilled by their victories—then Jesus redirects them: don’t anchor your joy in results, but in the reality that your names are written in heaven (Luke 10:20). In this conversation we unpack how that one truth reframes our emotions, our milestones, and our setbacks. We’ll look at Jesus’ promise of authority amid adversity (Luke 10:19), why wins are wonderful but temporary, and how to practice a daily rhythm of rejoicing that’s rooted in eternal security, not changing circumstances.
You’ll walk away with a clear, Scripture-shaped mindset: wake up, preach the gospel to your soul, and remember—“Thank God, my name is written in heaven.” That perspective turns anxiety into prayer, success into worship, and ordinary days into opportunities to rejoice. If you’ve been riding the roller coaster of results, this is your invitation to step onto solid ground.
Acts 1:8-11
8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
9After he had said this, he was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
10While he was going, they were gazing into heaven, and suddenly two men in white clothes stood by them.
11They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up into heaven? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come in the same way that you have seen him going into heaven.”

"What is the work of God?" "Are we doing His work?"
John 6:28-30 (ESV) Then they said to him, "What must we do, to be doing the works of God?" Jesus answered them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent." So they said to him, "Then what sign do you do, that we may see and believe you? What work do you perform?"
Leanining into one if three parables about what is lost with a close look at the Parabale of Lost Coin in Luke 15:8-10:
8 “Or what woman who has ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? 9 When she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, because I have found the silver coin I lost!’ 10 I tell you, in the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who repents.”
You have to do something. How far will we go? How thoroughly will we search? How will we respond to the loss of what we deem valuable?
Examining potential through the lens of 1 Corinthians 2:5. "...so that your faith might not be based on human wisdom but on God’s power."
You weren't meant to do it alone. And whether it's applied to business, ministry or family...you can't go wrong with the advice you'll find in Exodus 18:13-21.

Let's look at who we are called to be - here inside our flesh suit - as people of God. He placed us here, and He put us here for now. How, then shall we live?
Bryce Chizek joins Tony and Dan in a discussion about recognizing who (and whose) we are as defined by God.
1 Peter 1:22-25

Galatians 6:1-10
A close look at all it means to "...remain in Me, as I remain in you" as we read in John 15:1-8
Proverbs 24:30-34
30 I went by the field of the lazy man,
And by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding;
31 And there it was, all overgrown with thorns;
Its surface was covered with nettles;
Its stone wall was broken down.
32 When I saw it, I considered it well;
I looked on it and received instruction:
33 A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to rest;
34 So shall your poverty come like [f]a prowler,
And your need like an armed man.
Every day is a gift in itself.
Psalms 118:24 ~ This is the day the Lord has made; let’s rejoice and be glad in it.
There is so much in the prayer Jesus prayed for us all in the 17th chapter of John. He prays for us to be one. To be united. To klnow who we are (and who we are NOT).
After hearing him teach, Jesus was pressed by a scribe who said he'd follow him wherever he went. What did Jesus say? "Great! We'd love to have you!" No...He instead challenged the man to count the cost, saying in Matthew 8:20, "Foxes have dens, and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
What did Jesus mean, and how should we apply that response to our lives? Listen in as Dan and Tony talk about what it means to count the cost of following Jesus on today's "Your Life".
From the prophecies to the manger...
Christmas is about the best gift ever. Something big...something HUGE in a tiny package. It's about how God came near - to be WITH us - Emmanuel.
Looking at the beginning - Genesis 1:1-3 and a retelling of the beginning in John 1:1-3 - to discover the God who put us here for now. The same God who declares we are made in His image, to do His good work in this world.
Looking at how David cried out to God in Psalm 61 reminds us that open communication is the key to relationship. David knew he could trust God, and that God was a stable place he could run to.
It's not the faith of others that will save us...it's our faith in an unwavering God.
"Who are you?" they asked John. And just like us - he was who God said he was. That's the launching point for today's conversation of understanding who we are and who we are meant to be.
Indecision can stop us in every way. Yet, for those of us who are in Christ, we have also been given the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16) to counter the internal conflicts which factor into our indecision.
Dan and Dr. Haire unpack this and more in today's discussion on making decisions.
Two things we can count on regardless of race, creed or color, regardless of height or weight, regardless of rain, sleet or now:
1) Change and
2) Time
Today Tony and Dan talk about how even if we desire change, what we believe affects our attitude, and our attitude affects our actions for the better or worse over time.
Understanding that being made in the image of God includes having a will. Free will. Today Dr. Haire & Dan talk about choosing and embracing God's will for our lives over our own.
When we understand the destination, the journey getting there makes a lot more sense. Tony and Dan discuss knowing the ultimate purpose of our lives, and applying that to the journey through each day we live.
We've all seen the memes on social media attributed to one leader or another: "We're never more than one generation away from _____________." Whether we can trust proper attribution in those cases or not, today Dan & Dr. Haire look at a generation who lost their way as chronicled in 2nd chapter of the Old Testament book of Judges.
For background, read:
• Judges 2:6-10
• Proverbs 4:5-11
Looking at life and all we've been given through the lens Jesus offers in the 'Parable of the Talents' in Matthew 25:14-30.
Communication is key in any relationship. Spouse-to-spouse, Parent-to-Child. Friend-to-Friend, etc. Today we talk about learning to listen as a key part of our communication skills.
Here's a link to the book, "Why Don't We Listen Better" which Dr. Haire mentions in today's conversation: https://www.amazon.com/Listen-Better-Communicating-Connecting-Relationships/dp/0979155959?
Help and hope for parents and leaders confronted with turbulent relationships inside - or outside the home.
Addressing the many relationship issues facing families of every definition in our society.
In the creation story, some things were created from NOTHING, and others were made from Other things God created.
The question of “What can I do?” is a question of potential. Unless you discover your abilities and potentials, you will never maximize them.
There is something God has deposited in you for you to impact your life and your entire world, you’ve got to bring it out.
Fulfillment in life. It's something we all hope - even strive - for. What is the key? Where is it found? Can everyone attain it?
We stand toe-to-toe with others each and every day. Does the faith we carry into that encounter make a difference? Are we willing to allow God to change us to the extent that we affect the outcome of any encounter? Do the things we hold as true, the God we know as sovereign, and the belief in things eternal have room in our conversations?
God's mission was to create one new man...out of two.
Today we look at the way Paul highlights the division we created in his letter to the church in Ephesus. Open your Bible and read along in Ephesians 2:11-18
In Ephesians 3:14-21, Paul prayed that we [believers] would experience the Holy Spirit’s power in our inner being so that Christ could live in our hearts by faith.
When your cell phone goes out no external change will help you. The problem is internal. The problem is an uncharged battery. In our lives, we need the internal strength only the SPIRIT can provide. This prayer goes beyond the faith that saved us
In 2 Cor 5:7 we are reminded that we walk by faith, and not by sight.
In the world we experience life through the 5 senses [touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste]
For the most part we have to see it to believe it. There is, however, an environment beyond the 5 senses: Grace. It cannot be touched, seen, heard, smelled nor can you taste it. It can only be experienced in a relationship with Jesus Christ by Faith.
FAITH is so important to our spiritual growth because it is the mechanism God has given to us whereby we can tap into the spiritual realm that is above and beyond the world of our five senses.
Today we consider questions like:
What makes the confidence possible?
What / Who is the object of your faith?
Is God the object of your faith?
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things unseen. (Hebrews 11:1)
Spiritual growth requires a lot from us. One of things is that we leave less to chance and become intentional.
Diving into the correlation between physical and spiritual growth in a series based on 1 John 2:12-14.
One of the most important things for a newborn is the environment they grow up in. In the spiritual sense, for the newborn Christian - GRACE is that environment.
A newborn baby doesn't need anyone to tell him or her when they're hungry. They feed on what gives them nourishment instinctively, exclusively, and often.
So should we be concerning the food for our soul: the Word of God. For in it is life.
The Holy Spirit gives meaning to the things we don't understand, words when we don't know what to say, and peace in even the fiercest of battles.
Today, Tony and Dan talk about the role of the Holy Spirit in the believer's life.
How is it we know the right thing to yet and yet don't do it? What is our guide? Who is our guide? The answer: The Helper. The very one Jesus said He would leave, knowing full well we could not live this life alone.
So what about the conscience? Let's talk it on this week's "Your Life".
To understand the gift we've been given and how to utilize it for the the good of others and ourselves, we have to consult the Maker.
The word 'hero' is a bit overused these days. That doesn't mean they don't exist. But what is it that makes a hero a hero?
The work we have been called to do requires POWER not Strength. If we want to profit from the work we must use the POWER God offers.
Man in his own strength can do the physical things required of us at our jobs but to do the SPIRITUAL work we have been called to do it will require POWER not strength, the HOLY SPIRIT'S power.
Today Tony and Dan examine the difference between having a job and working. Using the Bible and who God is as our lens, we magnify the relationship we have as the church, as friends, as employees, employers and more. Listen in!
What the 'woman at the well' does after she meets Jesus is there for us to see. And it's more important than what we might notice at first. Tony and Dan continue a discussion about the correlation between the joy of work on this episode of Your Life.
The declaration that we were made in God's image comes after God created all that existed. So in what image are we created? Join us for a conversation about EMployment versus DEployment in the work we were put here to do.
Taking a look at the year ahead and a new opportunity to evaluate how we are, how we got here, and where we're going.
The past year has brought a lot of change our way - in our world, our culture, our homes, and our individual lives. As much as the passing of these past 12 months has affected us - often beyond our control - we owe ourselves and each other a closer look at the moments that made up the year.
Today on Your Life, Tony and Dan look at the significance of measuring each moment. As they explore time as a commodity, they discuss how to use, spend and invest it wisely now and into the new year ahead.
We often talk about the need and desire to change as if we personally have the power to change. On our own. But just like the disciples and followers we read about in Acts 1:8, we can only do what we're called to do through the power of the Holy Spirit.
The disciples had the opportunity to walk, talk, eat with and learn from the greatest teacher of all time, yet even they had to wait until the time was right, and the power of the Holy Spirit was given to them.
Continuing to look for the answer to why we fight so hard against the inevitable: Change. Many of us stood at this very point a year ago knowing something had to change. We looked at what we could change, how we could do things differently, and how we could undo some of the mistakes we made. Then came 2020. The year COVID-19 became a common word or phrase, and everything we knew to be normal had to change.
And as we wrap up a year that feels more like a decade, Tony and Dan continue with the series on the subject of change. They talk about the necessary steps to get from resisting to embracing change for the better, and acknowledge the pain along the way.
Continuing to look for the answer to why we fight so hard against the inevitable: Change. Regardless of how much we resist it, we will lose the battle against change. Today, Tony and Dan begin a series on the subject of change. They talk about the necessary steps to get from resisting to embracing change for the better, and acknowledge the pain along the way.
Why do we fight change? One thing is sure, regardless of how much we resist change, we will lose. Change is inevitable. Today, Tony and Dan begin a series on the subject of change. They talk about the necessary steps to get from resisting to embracing change for the better, and the pain along the way.
There is no better teacher than adversity. Today Tony and Dan continue their conversation on growth in - and through - adverse situations.
Increasing your capacity for thinking, acting and impacting your world is easier - and more scriptural - than you might realize.

Hope is the very basis of our faith. And it's a powerful force in any life. Listen in as Tony and Dan discuss its many implications.
There's a line between taking responsibility and being - or becoming - responsible.
In this episode Tony and Dan discuss what it means to become responsible; what happens when we don't, and what happens when we do.
Taking a good look at yourself is a great way to start on the path forward. But we must consider who God made us to be as we do.
In this episode, we wrap up a discussion on the Six Principles of Success with a conversation about the importance of prayer.
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
~ Galatians 6:9

This episode is the first of six delving into the principles of successful living in Christian terms.
The COVID-19 Crisis has been described by one pastor as a "Divine Interruption". As we, the church, have had some time to our families, time to ourselves, and time away from the fellowship we find within the church building. The question now is. "what do we do as we come out of this huddle?" Our first play may be the most important of our collective career.
