Posting this a bit late. It was recorded in the summer, during one of my self-care Sundays. I had a few things to talk about, in no particular order so I decided to get on the podcast and say a few things.

I think there are many learning opportunities that come from negative emotions. Of course, they aren't the greatest feelings to experience, but when properly assessed, they can help you develop emotional intelligence.

In this episode, I deconstruct times when I've felt jealous and use excerpts from Brianna Weist's book, "The Mountain is You" to discuss why these unfavorable emotions can actually tell us a lot about ourselves.

Balance has become an important core value in my life -- especially as I've gotten older. Being able to notice what's off in your energy and doing what you need in order to restore that balance requires being in tune with yourself.

In this episode, I'm sharing the methods I use to identify when I'm out of balance, what caused it and how I manage to balance my energy time and time again.

Have you ever felt stuck on an idea or project because you're trying to finalize every detail? Well, then you're probably like me. I have the habit of sitting too long in my idea phase that it often prevents me from simply doing. Case & point is publishing this episode (how ironic lol).

In this episode, I discuss why I've needed to let go of making everything "perfect" or having all my ducks lined in order before I action anything. Sitting on an idea for too long can weaken the drive and energy it once had. Sometimes it's just better if you show up, do the work, and reiterate the process.

One of my fav shows (and that says A LOT because I barely have fav shows) has come to a bittersweet end... yes, I am talking about Insecure.

The last episode was jam packed but it still gave what it was supposed to give. Molly went onto be happily married, #TeamLawrence ftw because Issa & Lawrence ended up in a beautifully blended fam - basically everyone went on to continue a happy life. But it wasn't always like this, within the past 5 seasons the entire crew had their fairshare of twists and turns but to see everyone come out on top just means it was all worth it.

You already know I picked a part pieces of the show that spoke to me and I break it down in this episode. Let me know if you felt the same!

As of late, I've gotten into a new hobby that involves collecting, growing, and nurturing plants...yup, a "plant mom".

But also, I've taken the leap and decided to grow my own veggies this year and the entire process I've been able to relate to life's journey. I think there's something fascinating about planting a seed, watering it, giving it time to grow until eventually, it becomes food to eat.

As of last year, I started using Twitter more often and discovered just how opinionated people are. Among that sea of opinions, I landed on a couple Twitter users whose tweets caused me to question things, seek more knowledge and most importantly, how important it is to ground myself.

In this episode, I'm joined by Kobe, host of The Wolf Chronicles, and business owner (WVLF CC- Natural Care Products) for a discussion on ... everything. We get into the state of the world, c*vid, astrology, veganism, nutrition, melanin and so much more.

Quick disclaimer: This episode isn't for the close-minded. So be prepared to open yourself up to a dialogue that may contradict what you believe is true.

Recently I had an epiphany where I realized that a large part of "adulting" requires unlearning.

Unlearning everything you've been taught in school, unlearning societal norms, and mostly just unlearning ways that don't serve you. So naturally, I've changed my perspective on a range of topics/themes as well.

One of the key things I've learned recently is that I am solely responsible for unlearning and relearning (or take accountability for) my actions and my growth in my adulthood and beyond.

In this episode, I'm joined by Alyson, host of Shades of Brown podcast and the creator and facilitator of Healing From A Mother Wound. We discuss how important it is to learn from and heal our inner child, what mother wound healing is, and how the healing journey isn't pretty but is worth it in the end.

I don't think people realize that the act of conversing is an acquired skill. Yes, you may be able to take thoughts/ideas in your mind and verbalize it, but that doesn't mean you know how to start, engage and properly have a conversation lol.

In this episode, I'm joined by Dolapo, co-host of The Quarter Life Crisis Podcast, long-time friend, and self-proclaimed conversationalist in a discussion about...conversation. We learn how he went from being shy to a great conversationalist, how men should approach and talk to women, and share a few high school stories.

"I'm nervous, but imma do it anyway" is my life in a nutshell lol.

There is always something new or different or challenging that I experience that brings out this unsettled feeling within me. I think that's life though, a never-ending cycle of ebbs and flows. I learned early on that I needed to face whatever fear or nervousness I was experiencing head-on in order to overcome it.

In this episode, I discuss how I overcome nervousness by dismantling it at its core and why it's important to continuously do what you are afraid of.

First of foremost, happy new year y'all.

I'm back in my observant bag and sharing with you how I no longer want to identify or take on negative e-motions.

An emotion by definition is, a conscious mental reaction (e.g., anger or fear) subjectively experienced as a strong feeling usually directed toward a specific object and typically accompanied by physiological and behavioral changes in the body.

Nowhere in that definition does it state that emotions define or identify people, so why do I do that to myself?

In this episode, I breakdown why it's important to carefully choose the words you use to speak to yourself and others, how inner talk can create your reality (whether you believe it or not), and why emotion should not be used as a way to define yourself because they are merely experiences that pass.

Is there ever truly a day that goes by where you don't experience fear?

There are two kinds of fear: normal fear and abnormal fear. Normal fear is the innate instincts given to you by nature as a means of self-preservation. Abnormal fear can fall into categories such as paranoia, anxiety, phobias. Basically, they are acquired from experiences, places, or people.

If an abnormal fear can be acquired or learned that also means that it can be unlearned. I work towards unlearning what triggers my fears by doing what I am fearful of. It's a practice that doesn't come easy, but can overtime clear the space I need in order to live fearlessly.

In this episode, I'm joined by Kevin Kerto, who is many things but can be defined as being a spiritual teacher, artist, and performance trainer. We get into many topics ranging from pursuing your passion, tackling fear, spiritual alignment, and the epiphany he experienced that directed him towards his passion.

For the majority of my life, I have been existing without real concrete intention behind why I do the things that I do. I share this story in this episode, but one day I was at Walmart and landed upon a book called, "The Power of Deliberate Intent". It was the spark I needed to propel me into more intentional thinking.

The concept of intentionality kept reappearing around me and over time I've come to understand just why it's so important to implement direction and purpose into my lifestyle. When you know your why and have a clear purpose, you can achieve more goals and manifest what you truly desire.

In this episode, I'm joined by Quain who is better known as Chef Beanz to discuss how to be more intentional in your life. Learn about where the idea for his "Be Intentional" brand and concept came from and how he navigates his life being as intentional as possible.

The phrase, "act as if" is one that has resonated with me a lot this year. I am constantly working on improving my mindset to produce better outcomes. For example, I have an idea of what my ideal self will look like, live like, and think like but I can't wait until I get "there" to start acting like it.

It's the thoughts, habits and practices I change now that matter because it will inevitably lead up to me becoming that ideal self... if that makes sense. In simpler terms (also taken from one of my fav books, The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent) "You cannot continue to offer the same vibration that got you to where you are now to get to someplace different."

In this episode, I'm joined by the founder of Smile Natural Products, Brian Mays to discuss the highs and lows of his entrepreneurial journey, how his mindset helped get him through tough times, and the positive impact covid had on his business.

To stay connected with Brian, you can find him on IG @smile_brianmays and support his business at feelsgoodtosmile.com and @smilenaturalproducts over on IG.

When I launched this podcast, I really had to bet on myself to remind myself that what I have to say is worth listening to, it's valuable, and that if so many others can create a podcast, well then so can I.

In this life, I'm 100% sure you're going to be faced with a challenge that will make you question whether you're even suited for the task - regardless of your expertise in it or experience. In vulnerable moments like that, it's important to bet on yourself because you, like anyone else, have what it takes to succeed.

In this episode, I'm joined by Osato a self-taught and award-winning photographer, owner of HAUSOFO, content producer for #thebunaproject, and many more for a discussion about vulnerability, self-care, and resilience. Osato is definitely a representation of someone who bet on herself to get her to where she is now.

People often ask me where I come up with the recipes I make. I never quite know how to answer, because I think it's a mix of trial and error, Pinterest, meals I've had before, and my creativity. Learning how to cook meals following a candida (or paleo) diet really forced me to think outside the box and perhaps, helped me tap into my inner chef.

In this episode, chef Eugene joins me to discuss his love of cooking and how his educational cooking content can empower anyone to get in the kitchen to channel their own inner chef.

To follow Eugene and his cooking content, follow @the_eugefood on IG and TikTok.

Highlights:

8:15 - Is culinary school necessary?
9:45 - The Michelin star experience
17:12 - Recipe creation process
18:34 - What inspires Eugene to cook?
28:30 - The process of creating a new recipe
31:42 - Bringing family together with food
34:52 - Social media vulnerability
37:50 - Insecurities as a chef

If you didn't know this about me already, I am a FIRM believer in manifesting reality. Recently, I've gotten into the practice of writing (or scripting) out my visions to support my belief in it. Fun fact, earlier this year I had written out what my ideal self would be doing and I mentioned that I'd have my own podcast- but at the time I wrote that I wasn't even 100% sure I'd have one, I just thought about my "ideal" self.

Recently, I came across that letter I wrote at the beginning of this year and was shocked that I went on to actually create a podcast. I literally wrote it and forgot about it lol. I've been hearing so many stories about how people have created their realities by writing it down and one of the people I know who has done this the best I brought on to talk about it.

In this episode, I'm joined by Sanny, makeup artist, beauty Youtuber, and Vlogger and co-owner of S&S Studio to discuss how she's written her reality into existence.

Highlights:

2:25 - The beginning of Sanny's makeup journey
8:16 - Starting Sanny Beauty Youtube channel
13:38 - Finding her niche on Youtube
20:35 - Being more intentional about her future
24:20 - 2020 manifestations
27:15 - Studio searching during the quarantine
29:24 - Feelin it real exercise
37:05 - Advice for those who want to start a manifesting journal
42:11 - What's next for Sanny Beauty

One of the ways I am at my most vulnerable is when I put pen to paper and write out the thoughts in my mind.

When I decided to share those thoughts online, I had to overcome my reluctance to even release my content. In fact, it still weirds me out when I realize that I'm choosing to share my ideas with the world, but I know that it's better to release my thoughts and share them with others because of the impact it can have.

Someone out there is listening and someone out there can benefit from what I (or you) have to say.

In this episode, I chat with digital creator and writer, Aley Arion, about her love of storytelling, the impact those stories have had with her audience, and why her life experiences have nothing to do with her.

To learn more about Aley, check out her articles on https://www.xonecole.com/u/aleyarion and across all socials @aleyarion.

I can remember a time when I used to h a t e eating anything green. I'd revolt at the sight of spinach, salad, celery (well celery is an acquired taste), and many others. Years ago, I had the opportunity to see a Naturopath about my health issues, and ever since then, I began to develop a positive relationship with plant-based foods. To say it changed my life would be an understatement. I learned, from experience, how much better I can feel in my body and spirit by eating the right foods for my body.

In this episode, I'm joined by holistic health enthusiast and plant-based food blogger, Alexis Kennedy, to discuss her journey to plant-based living and the healing and spiritual journey she's been on ever since.

Since launching this new venture (of which I am soo proud of and excited for) I've had to re-learn how to balance the time spent on social media so that I am more efficient. The thing is, I haven't always gotten this right, and recently I've found myself getting lost in IG's highlight reel and fixating on numbers instead of focusing on my content.

In this episode, I get candid on the pressures of Instagram, what practices help me manage my time better, and why being more strategic on Instagram has saved me from burnout.

I used to look at exercise as a means to an end. Work hard to build muscles, get fit, or tone etc...but along the way I started to anticipate my workouts because it helped me deal with my emotions. When I started practicing yoga, unbeknownst to me, I began to build self-compassion not just during my practice but in my day-to-day.

In this episode, my friend, meditation, and movement teacher Renelyn shares how movement has helped give space for her emotions and how the lessons we learn from our bodies can appear in more areas of our life.

To stay connected and learn more about movement and meditation, you can find Renelyn on IG @renelynquin.

Dreams and goals...everyone has 'em, but not everyone has the same energy as you do about your desires.

Over the years, I've learned to be extremely selective with who I tell my dreams to, and sometimes, I don't even say anything at all. Not everyone will have the same vision as me - and that's okay. What's important is that I don't allow the limitations others set upon themselves to impact me.

In this episode, I discuss what a "Dream Killa" is, how you can identify one, and why their opinions have absolutely nothing to do with you.

Hey world! Welcome to The Sherese Nicole Podcast! I feel like this has been a long time coming for me, so I finally jumped in and started this. In this episode, I will discuss who I am, what I do and give an overview of what you can expect from episodes to come.
