Tatiana Androsov - The World Through The Heart: Recent Episodes

Tatiana Androsov

Tatiana Androsov has been writing since she was 10 years of age when she was locked up in her parents apartment and was given a type writer as a gift. Her books are not based on research but on the experience she gathered living and working in different parts of the world with people from the four corners of the globe in various United Nations organizations and missions. What do you do after you have lived and worked on four continents among some of the richest and poorest people of the world? What can you tell after you have been a ‘worker bee’ in the ‘motley crew’ of the United Nations going back half a century, in the New York skyscraper headquarters with reports of the effects of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, on a dirt floor in Prey Veng, Cambodia preparing for elections, in a cabin interpreting ministers of commerce in Geneva, or talking to people in a village in South Africa as the chief of voter education for the observation mission that saw Mandela elected as President? Well, you write novels and you start bringing them out, so that you who hear, see and read will not only smile and cry but learn from the heartfelt efforts of those who have always cared. I am a new novelist at 72 but an old hand in international matters, I will focus for the coming year on the human aspects of the United Nations system, as the UN celebrates its 75th birthday.Tatiana is available for podcast guest appearances via Zoom and conference calls.

The story of a 1991 mission to Haiti that might or might have changed the course of subsequent events. Headed by Ambassador Paul Marc Henry, the then retired co-founder of the United Nations Development Program, it concentrated on everyday basic needs.  Was it a missed opportunity?

Where is Eros when you cannot touch people?  Where can you hope to get a first ‘tingle’? How do you try to get the person you’re feeling special for to feel something special for you?  How can you even have the hope of ‘meeting’ someone and being attracted or attracting someone?  But not all is lost because you can’t go to work, to your club, to your gym or even your church.  Listen here on this podcast…

So, you are a ‘good’ person, a careful person, you are a conservative person. You don’t come near those types of people! There is no way anyone could get you to be a sexual slave! You being forced to have sex?  Preposterous!  Unthinkable!  Well, this happened quite a few years ago when I was in my 20's, but go on, listen to this cautionary tale…..a true story.

Have you ever met anyone who’s worked for the United Nations or been part of any of its programs?  Well, you may have seen and heard some ‘important’ ones in the news. Now, meet one of the not important, a worker bee, and some of the incredible people in her life, the colorful, ‘motley crew’, that broke down the bubble she lived in, led her to that institution, and has helped the international system functioning.  And, if you think that is not important, she’ll let all of us know, in future broadcasts, why we should celebrate that United Nations is with us, and maybe even get a cake with candles for October 24, when it turns 75.

Meanwhile, for these pandemic summer doldrums, get any one or more of her novels, based on the real international world, MANGOES AND BLOOD (very different hostage situation), CHOICES (an American woman discovering Africa) and A QUESTION OF SEDUCTION – two volumes – first: EROS, second: AGAPE (an international romance fraught with power, doubt and force).

This year with our virus, our lockdowns, only a few remember that it is the 75th anniversary of the United Nations.  However, one person remembers it well, an immigrant girl with the wrong name and the wrong background, who during the Eisenhower’s time heard one of our great ambassadors to the United Nations, Henry Cabot Lodge, and who decided then and there that she would somehow get to be part of that organization.

Tatiana Androsov goes back to the founding ideal with President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill during WWII and follows to the creation of the Charter in San Francisco in 1945, making a side remark that will leave you smiling.

She gives you numbers that will make you think again about what destruction really means and tells you about a United Nations African American hero you have probably never heard about – Ralph Bunche.

Prepare to celebrate the birth of the United Nations, our creation, this October with all the fanfare it deserves!
