The Paths We Travel Podcast: Recent Episodes

Ellie, Cord & Luke

Ellie, Cord, and Luke take time each episode to figure out why the paths they have traveled have lead them to where they are now. They are siblings who grew up in the exact same way, under the exact same circumstances, but have grown into three completely different people. You never really understand what your viewpoints are, until you listen and understand the other side of the spectrum.

Cord and Sebastian have been friends since they were young playing little league football together. They sit down in this episode and discuss their lives growing up, and how they took completely opposite paths from each other.

Bash, as most know him by, talks about the role fathers played in his life. Because of his situation, he has now been able to truly create the life he wants for himself, and for his daughter.

It was a great conversation of the importance that fathers play in the home, and we hope that you will find some value in learning more about the topic of fatherhood.

Kind of an episode full of nonsense. We need your help with recommendations on topics and people to interview. If you have any ideas that you would love for us to talk about, send us a message!

We actually truly enjoyed recording the episode. It is raw, unedited, and just genuine us. Fun conversation between siblings. These are the moments you realize how grateful you are for those closest to you. And you know how much we emphasize and value family time. This is why.

We hope you enjoy, and maybe have a laugh with us. If anything, listen for a free offer during the episode!

TRIGGER WARNING: Miscarriage, Stillbirth, SIDS

Ellie's good friend McKenna is here to talk about her personal experience with miscarriage and stillbirth. It's a beautiful, raw, and eye opening conversation. McKenna goes into detail about what happened, how she and others reacted, and gives advice for those going through a similar experience.

October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, and we hope this can be an informational and positive message for all.

Even if you haven't seen the pain that comes with this tragedy, you probably will one day, and this episode has so much good information and advice to help you navigate this difficult time.

Thank you McKenna, for being so open, eloquent, and understanding as we asked our questions and tried to understand all you have gone through. You are truly inspirational.

10 years ago, on October 7, 2010, Ellie Cord and Luke's dad recieved a bone marrow transplant. The Stimpson kids are definitely no strangers to cancer. In this episode they talk about the process during and after the transplant, and how it has affected their lives since then. They give advice to those going through the same thing, and hope that this episode sheds a little light on what some people may be going through, with any type of cancer.

You can get on the bone marrow registry by going to www.bethematch.org and finding a donation location near you. You just might save a life one day.

Cord and Ellie both work in the health and wellness industry. After Ellie posted a post from @gymshark on Instagram, they got into a little bit of an interesting conversation on body image. A lot has to do with how men and women talk about others, and themselves about bodies.
At first they thought the conversation was going to be a bit tougher to have, but they very quickly were able to "see the other side" and come to some common ground on the subject.
The "Body Love" movement on social media is a big one, and they both feel that it has been taken in the wrong direction. Instead, the term "body respect" should be the new norm.

"In order to empathize with someone's experience you must be willing to believe them as they see it and not how you imagine their experience to be." -Brene Brown

Cord and Ellie dive deep into how they view empathy and sympathy, and how both of those viewpoints affect different areas and scenarios in their lives.

A bit more of a lighthearted episode, but very informational if you are wanting to create a closer relationship to someone, especially one of your children.

TRIGGER WARNING: Suicide and Military

Cord and Luke have both been through significant trials in their life, and Ellie has been on the supporting end. In this episode they dive into what is most beneficial to one, the person going through the trial, and two, the person trying to help. Luke explains his perspective of being in the military and the consequences that happen afterwords, and Cord talks about his battle with addiction.

This topic was brought to light because of a message and request from a friend, so please let us know if you have other things you would like to hear about, we'd love to chat about new content!

Ellie is solo on this episode. Talking about her life as an adult, she specifically dives deep into her personal circumstances as an accountability coach, and how her morals and values were stretched in the professional world. After going through some life changing circumstances, she is able to realize the kind of path she is traveling, and which direction she wants to ultimately go.

We hope this episode will be beneficial to anyone who has been asked to do things that don't agree with their personal morals, just to maybe get ahead a bit professionally, or in the world's eye.

Just 2 days before the 19th Anniversary of the attacks September 11th, Cord, Ellie, and Luke are together again to talk about the one thing that seems to be dividing the nation right now. Politics. But, not in the way you would imagine. They want to focus on something that hits a bit closer to home, American values.

We hope you will listen to this episode with an open mind, and really reflect on how you are treating the current climate and how you can be better and more productive given all of the circumstances.

Luke has an interesting perspective of this from being in the military, and all three kids were raised in a very patriotic family.

We hope this episode will help soften your heart a little bit and allow you to be willing to understand the other side of the story.

This episode is for the young ones. So, perfect for back to school, if you have a teenager that you want to talk about friends, but you know they won't listen to you, maybe send them this episode. And if you're a teenager listening to podcasts...well, you're in the right place.

The friends in high school will most likely not be the friends you have forever, but they will most likely be the friends who influence you, forever.

Learn how we handled friends in school, what we would have changed, what we're proud of, and what advice we have to give. It might not be what you are thinking.

Also, a tip for friendships as an adult from Ellie--this circumstance happens way too often.

"3 signs of a good friend:
you do not have to perform for them
they hold space for you during struggles
they are truly happy for your success."

Cord and Ellie dive into the first episode where they may have some contradicting views. Marriage. Now, while Cord isn't married yet, he still has some opinions on what things might look like before, and after you tie the knot.

Do you live together before marriage?
Do you wait to get married?
How does the church play a role in your decision?
What advice does Ellie have to give to young girls entering into that phase of life, regardless of how they answer the questions above?

Let us know what YOU think, after you listen to the episode.

Cord, Ellie, and their little brother, Luke, talk about their parents divorce and how a second divorce in their lives played a key impact in their futures. They discuss how being at different ages leads to different reactions to a divorce, and how your personal relationships with parents will probably change, regardless of how bad you want them to or even mean to. They also give advice from a child's perspective of how parents can best create a positive environment for their children regardless of their feelings towards their ex.

Hello! This is the first episode of the podcast. We're new to this, so give us a break, but we're having a lot of fun. On this episode we dive into our childhood and what we did to get us to where we are. If you are a child or parent affected by divorce, we hope this episode and then next few will be beneficial to you.

There is no right or wrong way to live, but we hope that by listening to our experiences you will be able to best make lifestyle decisions to help you on your own path.
