Comparison. It's something we've all struggled with at one time or another.

Today I want to share some thoughts with you to help you stop struggling with comparison. Because, you see... comparison isn't what makes us feel all "icky" inside. It's what we make the comparison MEAN about OURSELVES that doesn't feel good and impacts how we show up in the world.

Listen to this week's episode to learn how to break free from negative comparison in your life and be able to show up more confidently every day.

One of the side effects of dieting is a slower metabolism. When we diet, our bodies don't know the difference between dieting and starvation. And they go into "protect" mode to keep us alive. So, a few things happen in our bodies... one of them being lowering our metabolism.

This may show up as you hitting a weight loss plateau. Or gaining the weight that you just lost after dieting right back.

So today I want to answer the question... can we heal our metabolism after dieting?

And the answer is YES!

We'll talk all about how in this episode.

Ozempic. Wegovy. What are these medications everyone's talking about for weight loss right now? Are they the "miracle drug" they're being made out to be?

Chances are you know someone who is on it, have thought about it for yourself, or are on one of these medications. So, how do these medications impact your health, relationship with food, and even your weight? What are the concerns?

I wanted to have this conversation with my friend Brittany Jones, a Registered Dietitian here in Greenville South Carolina, all about what we see as the concerns with these medications used for weight loss right now. And, there's a lot of information out there about these drugs and you may have questions. My hope is we can clearly answer some of these questions for you.

"Food had always been this thing on my mind. I’d tried all the diets. And I knew that the thing that was going to solve my problems was not the next diet."

On today's episode I invited my client Kirsten on to share her story. You'll hear from Kirsten and where she was before we started working together... she talks about growing up in a family where dieting and hating your body was the norm. She shares about how she reached a point where she realized she did not want to be in her 70's and still struggling with food. And she shares encouragement for anyone else feeling the same.

You do NOT have to live your whole life feeling like food is such a "thing".

If you listen to this episode and it was encouraging and helpful, I'd LOVE it if you'd take a screenshot and share to your social media or with a friend directly. And, if you haven't yet, take a moment to leave the show a rating & review.

Sometimes I see this message that food freedom means eating whatever, whenever, however much you want without thinking about how your body feels.

Maybe you've had this thought too. And maybe it's kept you from wanting food freedom.

I get it... I don't want to eat donuts every day all day, either. I want to eat and feel healthy & have a balance.

But here's the thing, food freedom ISN'T just eating whatever, whenever, and however much you want. It's NOT about eating donuts every day.

It's about feeling empowered in your food choices. It's about feeling free to enjoy the donut without feeling guilty. But it's also about the freedom to maybe sometimes NOT eat the donut.

In this week's episode I want to talk a little bit about what food freedom really means and what it looks like.

Today I want to encourage you if you're feeling like you've "let yourself go" this past year. I have heard this from a lot of you... you feel like you've let yourself go and you're feeling ashamed for the weight you've gained and how you're maybe not where you thought you would be by now, at this time last year.

But, what I do know is that there's often a real reason why you've "let yourself go"... and while you may be telling yourself "I'm just lazy", that's never really the case. And more often, it's that you've just had other priorities. Often, in my experience, related to your mental health and needing to prioritize that above your physical health for a time.

Today, I'm sharing my own experiences with starting therapy again this past year and intentionally having times where I put my mental health above my physical health for part of the year. And, I share how I was able to still care for both my body & my mental health during this time and what that can look like for you.

You know that exercising consistently will help you feel better and live better. You know that eating less takeout would be better for your health. You know all these things that you "should" be doing, but for some reason you're not doing it. Maybe you've told yourself "I'm just lazy", or "I'm just not disciplined". What I want you to know is that's never the reason and there's always something else going on that's keeping you stuck.

This is what we're exploring together in this week's podcast episode. You'll come away learning exactly why you feel stuck right now with not taking action on the things you know will change your health and how you feel and how to then start taking action.

Accountability is often the first thing we ask some else for when we have a new goal. We ask our spouses "can you hold me accountable to not eat dessert after dinner" and we ask our friends to exercise with us to "hold us accountable".

And, as you'll hear in this episode, accountability is a vital part of reaching your goals. But, it can't be the only thing you rely on. When asking someone else to hold you accountable is your only plan, what happens when your friend moves away or you finish the program?

In this episode, I want to share with you how to think about accountability and how to develop what I call "self-accountability".

“It's such a relief. To feel comfortable around food and I can enjoy it so much more versus living in fear and worrying about gaining weight or feeling the need to control my calorie intake, I trust my body and listen to what it tells me. And I find that in doing this, I don't overeat as much or feel uncomfortable after meals.”

In this episode, Victoria covers a number of things including a recent testimonial from one of her clients, Emma and Healthy You 2024. As a preview of her annual event, she explains the process of achieving health goals, starting with evaluating the past year, setting clear 'feel' goals, predicting and planning for obstacles, and devising an enjoyable, individualized plan.

“Your macronutrient needs are different every single day. And so just following a … blanket plan … is not going to work because your needs are different every day.

In this episode, Victoria discusses struggles with macro and calorie counting. She delves into her views on macro counting, highlighting that while it can be a tool for understanding the body's needs, it often becomes an obsession that can lead to guilt, shame, and an unbalanced relationship with food. She reiterates that every person's calorie and nutrient needs are different daily and that the body’s signals should guide eating habits, not a rigid diet plan.

“I started paying attention to how food makes me feel”. This week I’m interviewing my client Amanda who just finished up working with me in my 6 month 1:1 coaching program. Amanda shares her story and what led her to intuitive eating. She talks about yo-yo dieting for years and getting to the place where she wanted to make a change with her health but without going the diet approach that never seemed to work. One of her biggest takeaways was starting to bring in future mindfulness with eating. As in, asking herself “How is this food going to make me feel” and making a decision from a place of empowerment around food. I can’t wait for you to listen and hear her story.

This podcast is for women who crave a new approach to health and want to get out of the rollercoaster of dieting. If you’ve been dieting for any amount of time, diet mentality is probably lurking in your mindset. Thinking things like, “I shouldn’t eat that” and “It’s not time to eat… I shouldn’t already be hungry” make it really hard to eat intuitively and listen to your body. So the first principle of intuitive eating is to ditch diet mentality.

Today’s episode jump starts our series on the 10 principles of intuitive eating. In today’s episode I’m going to help you get started by 1) recognizing and accepting how dieting hasn’t worked and is actually harmful, 2) Identifying diet mentality in your own mindset & 3) Letting go of diet tools that prevent you from listening to your body.

This podcast is for women who crave a new approach to health and want to get out of the rollercoaster of dieting. If you feel like the only way for you to be healthy is by dieting, you’ve come to the right place! As a culture, we don’t do a very good job of feeling our feelings. We push them aside, “eat our feelings”, turn to exercise, all to avoid feeling our feelings. But, as we talk about today, feelings are neutral. They aren’t good or bad. And actually sitting with them and, as I say in the episode, productively feel them, we go through even the hard emotions so much faster. In this episode I’ll give you 3 steps to work on to get better at feeling your feelings.

I’m so excited to share a conversation I had with Courtney Florey of Declutter & Dwell with you today. Courtney is the creator and owner of Declutter & Dwell. She helps overwhelmed moms declutter their lives and trade the constant cycle of cleaning up for a life of purpose, fulfillment, and simplicity. I wanted to bring Courtney on because there is a lot of similarities with the ways we approach food and how we approach our home (and really every other area of our lives). While Courtney gives very practical tips for where to start when you want to declutter, she also empowers women to embrace imperfection in their homes and give themselves grace. Today’s episode is a little different… I wanted to give you a sneak peak into what coaching looks like! So, today I have a conversation with Lauren Barksdale about her relationship with food and body image. Specifically, what you’ll hear is that coaching is an individual experience and there’s not one-size-fits-all with eating. What I want you to know is that what matters is what’s important to you and what feels good for you. I say this again and again… you are the expert of your body. Maybe you’ll learn something about your own relationship with food through my conversation with Lauren.

Today on the podcast I had the honor of talking with Tory Stroker, an anti-diet registered dietitian & certified intuitive eating counselor who has a passion for and coaches women virtually to help them feel more “normal” with food & improve their body image. Specifically on this episode, we had a conversation around vulnerability and the power that comes when you discover that you’re not alone in your struggle with food and body (or anything, really). Tory, also, was a dancer for 20 years and brings a body image perspective from someone who was in the field of dance and experienced the struggle of a sport that carries a lot of demands on having a certain body to be accepted. This was such a fun yet deep conversation… I hope you enjoy! Connect with Tory:

One of the first principles of intuitive eating I usually end up talking about with clients is the principle “Honor Your Hunger”. In order to honor your hunger in a practical way...because we’re all busy and can’t just stop and think about what we want to eat every time we’re hungry… it’s helpful to think about PLANNING FOR HUNGER. In this episode, you’ll learn how to pay attention to and start to notice hunger cues when they are early, what to think about when you are choosing a snack, and next steps for where to go if you want to start planning for and honoring hunger. This podcast is for the high-achieving woman, that’s you!, wanting to find balance and calm around food and in other areas of her life. Don’t worry, balance here isn’t about juggling a million balls in the air all at once… and doing it perfectly. Today on the podcast I had the amazing opportunity to talk with Jaren Soloff all about nutrition, body image, & self-care during the postpartum period for women. There are so many pressures on us, as women, after having a baby to “bounce back” or “get your body back”. And the reality is, our bodies just did something so amazing, creating and growing a baby, and they won’t ever be the same as they were. Learning to love and accept your body postpartum starts with acknowledging that change is normal and good, even when it feels like you’re living in a foreign body. If you’ve struggled with body image and caring for yourself overall after having a baby, you’re going to love this conversation with Jaren. Connect with Jaren:

In today’s episode, Victoria and Katherine sit down with Dana Monsees of Real Food with Dana and Real Talk with Dana Podcast. In Part I, Dana shares her own story of being a Whole30 coach and getting caught in the chronic cycle of using Whole30 and elimination protocols because of fear of true recovery from ED.

She eventually leaves Whole30 because of the unhealthy patterns she saw many participants getting stuck in. This led her to the work she does now of working in clinical nutrition from a non-diet, non-restrictive, health at every size, weight inclusive approach. In this episode, Dana also talks about the pros and cons of the Whole30 and other elimination protocols and how they don’t lead to food freedom, how intuitive eating is compatible with healing protocols, and why weight is not a determinant of health.
