This weekend, we had the privilege of hearing a powerful message from Pastor Peter Kasirivu, founder of Africa Renewal Ministries, where we were reminded that Jesus is the Great Light who drives away darkness. As followers of Christ, we are called to live for God in every area of our lives and to reflect the light of Jesus to everyone we meet.
As we begin a two-week series on the topic of free will and predestination, Michael explores the difference between primary and secondary issues. While true Christ-followers may disagree on various secondary issues, our priority is to love one another despite these differences.
As we head into a new season of Life Groups here at Rocky Peak, Joel explores what it means to be church and walk together in community. By doing life together, we can apply what we're learning about being Christ-followers and live out Jesus' command to love one another.
Last week, we wrapped up the big picture story of the Gospel of God. But before Paul dives into how we can practically live out the Gospel, he first addresses an issue within the early movement of Jesus that troubles him deeply: Why isn't Israel accepting the message? Pastor Michael encourages us to reflect on the people in our own lives who don't know Jesus, and how we might help guide them toward a deeper understanding of who God is.
Pastor Michael explores the Story of Glory as explained by the Apostle Paul in his letter to the church at Rome and how this story will unfold for those who come to Jesus, receive the Holy Spirit, and look to what is coming when Jesus returns. Persecution may be a part of this "in-between time" or here-and-now story, but believers who share in Christ's suffering will one day also share in Christ's glory.
Pastor Michael continues our journey through Romans 8 in part two, “The Spirit of Life” in The Gospel of God series. The Apostle Paul contrasts two different types of people - those in Adam with minds governed by the flesh, and those in Christ whose minds are governed by the Holy Spirit. Paul wants us to understand that the Spirit gives new life and, when we come to Christ, we are changed supernaturally.
Are you living the life Jesus died to give you? This week, Michael reviews what we’ve learned so far in our “Gospel of God” series and introduces the gift of the Spirit of life. When we receive the Holy Spirit, we experience transformation as He brings us into new life.

As we pursue creating a culture of prayer here at Rocky Peak, Michael kicks off our series, “Pursuing God… The Priority of Prayer.” This week we learn why prayer is important, what it is meant for, and how we see it lived out in the New Testament by Jesus and the early church.
Hope’s power rests on the strength of what you place your hope in. As Joel wraps up our series, “The New Reality”, we discover that in Jesus, we have a hope strong enough to navigate all of life’s challenges. This hope empowers us to live the life He has called us into with courage, conviction, and compassion.
As we follow Jesus into new life as individuals, He leads us into relational restoration with God and with others. This week, Joel shares three important characteristics of this new community and how Jesus cals us to become His church.

This week, Andres kicks off our series by exploring “The New Reality” we experience as individuals as we leave behind our old life to follow Jesus into the new.
The Bible claims that Jesus of Nazareth was arrested, crucified, and resurrected three days later—and that these events have life-changing implications for each of our lives. This Easter, Michael recounts the life and spiritual journey of James, the younger brother of Jesus, from skeptic to radical Christ-follower, exploring how compelling evidence can transform the thinking of even the most unlikely people.
In our “Hearing God” series, we have learned that to become someone God speaks to, we must intentionally pursue a personal relationship with Him. This week, Michael brings the series to a close by sharing seven key steps for developing the keystone habit of spending one-on-one time with God.
Earlier in this series, we learned that our ability to hear from God is deeply connected to our relationship with Him. Michael teaches this week that we must be intense and intentional when it comes to pursuing a personal relationship with God. When we regularly spend time with God one-on-one, it becomes a keystone habit—a single habit that sets in motion a series of powerful changes in our lives.
Last week, Michael introduced the topic of discernment—how do we distinguish God’s voice from our own thoughts and the voice of the enemy? In this week’s message, he revisits the two key questions from last week and shares five additional questions to help us practice discernment in hearing God’s voice in our lives.
When we think God is speaking to us, how do we distinguish whether it’s truly God’s voice, our own thoughts, or the voice of the enemy? This week, Michael shares two questions we can ask to help us practice discernment in hearing from God.
This week, we continue our Hearing God series by exploring the different ways God speaks in a “still, small voice”—which Dallas Willard considers to be the primary subjective way God communicates with us.
Last week we discovered that the primary way God communicates is through Scripture. By rooting ourselves in the Word, we can learn to hear and discern God’s voice—both internally and externally. This week, Joel illustrates four additional ways we can hear God speaking to us.
This week, we begin learning the ways God speaks to us, and Andres teaches that the primary way is through the Word. If we want to hear God speak, the Bible cannot be something we try to fit into our lives. The Bible needs to be what we build our lives around because it contains the voice, presence, and power of God.
Jesus came to restore our relationship with God and modeled that the best way to know, love, and please God is through obedience. To experience more of God’s presence, power, and voice in our lives, we need to fully surrender all other pursuits and prioritize our relationship with Him as our greatest passion.
At the end of his previous message, Michael asked us to reflect on two key questions as we head into this “Hearing God” series. Our responses to these questions reveal our heart posture, indicating whether we are truly willing to listen—and follow—when God speaks. The spiritual skill and experience of hearing from God are intricately connected to the quality of relationship we have with Him.
Understanding how to hear God is a crucial spiritual skill that enables us to walk well with God, develop a truly personal relationship with Him, experience His presence and power in and through us, and carry out His vision and calling for our lives. When practiced consistently, these disciplines enable us to hear God clearly and obey His leading in our lives.

How do we live in anticipation of God’s power in our lives that is more than wishful thinking or blind optimism? This week, Joel kicked off our series “Greater Things” by encouraging us that we find great hope for the future in remembering how God has been faithful in our past.
During the Christmas season, we often reflect on the nativity story. However, the birth of Jesus is just the first part of a truly incredible gift—Jesus was born to rescue us through His death. This week, we gather to celebrate Christmas and give thanks for this Gift of Life!
As we continue our study in Romans this week, we learn the foundational principles of faith—what it is, what it isn’t, and why it’s important because of what it unleashes. As our faith increases, we witness more of the presence and power of God in our lives along with greater peace, joy, and confidence.
As Christ-followers, it’s important to know how we fit into the story of the Gospel. This week, Michael reminds us that the better we understand the story of the Bible, the clearer God’s vision for our lives becomes.

Through His death and resurrection, we can follow Jesus into new life if we have faith. This week, Joel shares that living a life of faith isn’t always easy, especially when it doesn’t seem fair or when it doesn’t work out the way we want it to. Hope comes from holding onto the teachings of Jesus so that we can know the truth, and the truth can set us free.
Despite the many external factors philosophers have theorized as being responsible for the problems in our culture, as Christ-followers, we know the problem lies within the human heart. This week, Michael reveals Paul’s verdict based on the evidence against the human race: that we are all under the power of sin with no way to fix ourselves. When we fully comprehend the bad news, we are equipped to see the beauty and necessity of the Gospel.
This week, Michael explores the transformational power of the Scriptures in our lives, as they are the very words of God. We also discover that knowing and obeying God’s Word not only provides protection but also leads us to truth, guidance, and blessing.
How does your life, as a child of God, reveal the goodness, grace, and incredible love that God has for His people? This week, Joel explores the idea of privilege in the context of the Gospel, which is a gift that we have been given for a purpose greater than ourselves.
What are you pursuing? Who are you trying to please in and through your life? This week, we continue our series in Romans and learn how we can live our lives for Jesus’ coming Kingdom. The reality that we will come before Jesus to be evaluated based on how we have lived and what we have done serves as a catalyst to live a life worthy of glory, honor, and immortality.
In the final phase of "The Death Spiral," we see how the rejection of God’s truth leads to destruction in relationships with both God and others. This week, Andres explores the beautiful reality that God wants to renew the way we think and how we see the world. When we invite God to reveal the areas of our lives where we need repentance, He meets us with renewal and brings new life into the way we approach our relationships.
This week, Michael explores the differences between the Biblical worldview and the cultural view on human sexuality and gender identity. He also brings us back to the three Cs from last week, guiding us on how we should respond to emerging ideologies on sex and gender: CLARITY on God’s vision for the human race, Christ-like COMPASSION for those who are struggling, and the COURAGE to be the light of the world.
How are we, as Christ-followers, called to live out God’s vision regarding human sexuality and same-sex relationships? This week, Michael shares three guidelines (the three Cs) for approaching divisive topics in our culture: seeking CLARITY and understanding of God’s vision for humanity through His Word; treating both believers and non-believers with COMPASSION, remembering we are called to love well; and summoning the COURAGE required as the cost of following Jesus goes up.
This week, Michael takes us on a journey to understand the biblical perspective on human sexuality and how it differs from the worldview of our culture. In today's society, we often encounter the belief that any sexual activity between consenting adults is considered acceptable and normal. However, as we delve into the Bible, we discover God's divine plan for human sexuality. It's not just a set of rules but rather a loving blueprint meant to protect us from hurt and brokenness and to transform us to become more like Him.
To fully understand why the gospel is good news, we must come to terms with some uncomfortable truths about why we need the gospel in the first place. As Joel continues our series in Romans this week, we see that God reveals Himself through creation and that humanity rejects the truth of His eternal power and divine nature. When we embrace the truth about who God is, we gain a better picture of who we are and the life He has for us.
What does it mean when we refer to the 'Lord Jesus' or say 'Jesus is Lord'? In today's culture, it can be challenging to grasp the full significance of Paul's favorite title for Jesus. This week, Michael walks us through the rich history of the word 'Lord' (or 'kurios' in Greek) and how it communicates Jesus’ divine authority over all creation and in our lives today.
As an apostle, Paul has unique authority and perspective to see and share the truth about who God is, who we are, and how to follow the path of life. In this week’s message, we learn that Paul’s first word of introduction to the Romans is as a doulos, or slave, of Christ Jesus. Paradoxically, It is only when we are fully surrendered to Christ that we can experience true freedom and transformation.
Paul introduces key words and phrases in the introduction of his letter to the Romans, one of which is “Apostle.” Paul identifies himself as an Apostle of Christ Jesus. This apostleship gave him the authority to speak for Jesus and proclaim his Gospel. He viewed Jesus as his ultimate authority of his life, which we are also called to do as Christians living today.
This week, Joel continues our series “Come Alive” by teaching that when we invite Jesus to open the graves in our lives, He can bring new life to those dark places. In a world defined by sin and death, even as Christ-followers, we experience painful situations and suffering. This week, Andres kicks off our mini-series “Come Alive” by showing us God’s heart to bring life from death through the power of the resurrection. God longs to restore us and give us life to the fullest in every area of our lives.
During the Christmas season we celebrate the birth of Jesus, but what we don’t always consider is that while Jesus was born to bring us gifts, he had to die to deliver them. This week Michael shares how communion is a perfect opportunity to reflect on these gifts of salvation and how it is our decision to receive and use them well.
Idolatry was easy to recognize in Corinthian culture, but we can see it today in anything that competes with our pursuit of or passion for God. This week Joel asks if there are any idols we need to flee from because any path away from God leads to death, but following Jesus and surrendering everything to him leads to the full life he promises.
What importance does the Old Testament hold for modern-day Christ followers? This week Michael shares that in the Scriptures of the Old Testament we find lessons to be learned, truths about who God is, and context for the prophecies fulfilled by Jesus.

“Nevertheless, each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned to them, just as God has called them” (1 Corinthians 7:17a). This week Michael teaches how we can serve God, grow spiritually, and make a difference in any and every situation of our lives.
Culture sees love as a feeling, but Christ sees love as an action and a commitment. This week Michael teaches how God’s original vision for marriage, going all the way back to Creation, can apply to us as Christ-followers today whether single, married, or divorced.
As we return to our series on 1 Corinthians this week, Michael teaches on God’s design for sex and marriage. Sex within marriage is a very good thing, but outside of marriage is dangerous because it is meant to bond one person to another for life.
This week we are kicking off a new session of Life Groups here at Rocky Peak with a special message on church community. Jesus’ final message to his disciples was to go out and share with others what they had personally witnessed and experienced in their time with him. This week Pastor Dre kicks off our summer 3-week series “Whole Heart” by encouraging us to embrace a new paradigm: repentance is greater than sin or shame… it's how we experience forgiveness, freedom, restoration, and it is the key to experiencing God’s power in our lives.
The message of Christ crucified has been seen as offensive or as madness, but because of the Holy Spirit we see Jesus on the cross as a continued path to transformation in our lives. This week we close out the 4th chapter of 1 Corinthians and Michael recaps the key points we have learned so far about Christ, Culture, & The Cross.

The key question the passage asks of us is, 'How do we respond when Jesus' words seem unbelievable to us?'" And that's what this message explores.
When it comes to the Gospel, we tend to be able to grasp who Jesus and His Father are but forget the power that the Enemy also has. In this week’s message, Pastor Tim reminds us that the devil is a real player in our world and our actions reveal if we are aligned with Jesus or with Satan. When people see your spiritual walk, do they see your Heavenly Father?

In this message, Pastor Dre teaches on the importance of sharing our testimonies and what we are called to do when it comes to putting Jesus on display in our lives.
