George Leach is the gentle giant with a heart of gold and a major funny bone, who left his childhood home in North Carolina to play for Indiana and learn what basketball was really all about.
Despite an unexpected redshirt year and the devastating dismissal of Coach Knight, George and his teammates rallied together and took Hoosier nation on one of the most unexpected and exhilarating runs to the championship game in the history of March Madness.
After graduating IU and having a wildly successful hoops career overseas, George and his towering twin, Jeff Newton, returned to their southern roots and set up shop with Ooowee BBQ… the most delicious food that anybody has ever eaten anywhere in the history of the world.
So grab some napkins, hit play and dig in!

Armond “Money” Hill grew up hooping on the legendary playgrounds of NYC, earning his way into the hallowed halls of Princeton where he won Ivy League MVP and an NIT Title under iconic Coach Pete Carril.
A top-ten draft pick, Coach Hill played 8 seasons in the NBA for the likes of Hubie Brown, Lenny Wilkens and Don Nelson before he himself turned to coaching. After 18 years in the prep and collegiate ranks, including 8 years as the head coach of Columbia, Hill broke into the NBA under Terry Stotts in Atlanta.
A year later Doc Rivers brought Hill on as an assistant coach in Boston where they won an NBA championship in 2008 before moving on for a seven-year run with the Clippers. Hill has coached such greats as Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Kawhi Leonard, Blake Griffin and yes even Chris Paul, who gave Coach Hill his incredible nickname… MONEY.

Khristian Lander was a high school phenom out of Evansville. The nation's top point guard in his class, he was destined to become a McDonald's All-American and leading contender for Mr. Basketball his senior year. Instead, he reclassified and committed to play for Archie Miller at IU.
Arriving in Bloomington as a 17-year-old freshman, things couldn't have gone much worse for Khristian, the entire Hoosier program, or for a world thrown headlong into a pandemic. He struggled for playing time, and when he did make it onto the court things usually didn't go well. Simply put, Khristian lost his confidence.
After the season ended and Coach Miller was let go, Khristian was ready for a fresh start and entered his name into the transfer portal. But then Mike Woodson came to town.
Khristian soon recommitted to the Hoosiers. In doing so he has rediscovered joy in playing the game and has once again found his swagger. This year looks to be way more fun for everybody.
The Hoosiers' offense finally enjoyed a breakout game, but it was the defense that let IU down in a 38-35 loss at Maryland. We break down the defeat.
When a kid is this special... and there is no doubt Jakai Newton is just that... it's only right his parents share in the spotlight.
Even when he was just a baby, Bettina and Brandon knew their son possessed extraordinary athleticism, but as he grew so too did the list of Jakai's prodigious talents and passions. As a student, artist, volunteer and even entrepreneur, he excelled at whatever gained the attention of his laser focus.
And now, to the great fortune of all Indiana basketball fans, Jakai has firmly set his sights on the hardwood and will arrive at IU in 2023. And oh yes, this exceptional young man is bringing his plus-6 wingspan, defensive tenacity and ferocious dunks with him. Hallelujah!

The 2-4 Hoosiers face another challenge vs. Ohio State this week, and if IU is going to beat the Buckeyes, Indiana's offense will have to pull its weight. We hear from head coach Tom Allen and Offensive Coordinator Nick Sheridan.
Ali Patberg was born to hoop. With her father Ron as coach, she led Columbus North High School to its first-ever Class 4A state championship her senior year en route to being named 2015 Indiana Miss Basketball, Gatorade Indiana High School Player of the Year, and USA Today All-USA Indiana Player of the year. And oh yeah, she also won a GOLD MEDAL with the 2015 Under-19 USA National Team.
Honoring her early commitment to Notre Dame, Ali was sidelined with an injury as a freshman and after her sophomore season decided to at last attend the school she grew up cheering for, Indiana University. Forced to missed yet another season due to the old transfer rules, Ali gained invaluable experience going head-to-head with Tyra Buss in practice and cheering on her teammates to a WNIT title in front of a packed Assembly Hall crowd.
When she finally took the floor as a Hoosier her impact was immediate and colossal. Under the guidance of Coach More, in the past two years Ali and her talented teammates, notably Grace Berger and Mackenzie Holmes, have taken IUWBB to the cusp of a Big Ten title and Final Four birth.
Now coming back for her remarkable 7th year of college, Ali is putting in the work to take care of what she deems “unfinished business,” and you better believe it will be thrilling for all of Hoosier nation to witness.
The Hoosiers' offensive failures stood out in a 20-15 Homecoming loss to Michigan State, giving IU another defeat vs. a top-10 team that could very easily have been a victory. We break it down.
Indiana's bye week couldn't have come at a better time, and now the Hoosiers return to the field to take on a tough Michigan State team. We hear from head coach Tom Allen and offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan.
Coached by his legendary father in Ft. Wayne and then Marion, James Blackmon, Jr. battled back from a knee injury in high school to finish as one of the most prolific scorers the state has ever seen.
After an early commitment to IU, he de-committed and sent Hoosier nation into frenzied panic. Then, much to all our relief, he once and for all decided to play for his home-state school. And did he ever.
“Jimmy Buckets” hit the ground running as a freshman lighting up the conference and putting the country on notice, only to suffer a season-ending knee-injury his sophomore year. Refusing to feel sorry for himself, he attacked his rehab and cheered on his teammates as they went on to win Indiana’s last Big Ten title.
His junior year the team was loaded, and after top-5 wins over Kansas and then UNC, seemed poised for a Final Four run, only to see James lose more games to injury, and have O.G. Anunoby go down & out for the year. It was a disappointing end for one of the best shooters Bloomington has ever seen.
Though the ups and downs of James Blackmon Jr.’s IU career were many, he was and continues to be a player, and a human being, the whole state of Indiana can be proud to call one of its own.
Mackenzie Holmes grew up in the gym, thanks to not just one but two parents that coached the game she was born to play. Speaking of two, “Mack” would lead her high school team to back-to-back state championships and go on to win 2019 Maine Gatorade Player of the Year.
Mack never imagined she would attend school so far from her hoops-crazed hometown and family, but after a fateful encounter with IUWBB Associate Head Coach Rhett Wierzba, she fell in love with Indiana and everything Coach Teri Moren and her program had to offer.
Since then individual accolades have poured in… Big Ten All-Freshman Team, Academic All-Big Ten, All-Big Ten Defensive Team, All-Big Ten First Team, NCAA All-Regional Team and now Indiana's first AP All-American Honorable Mention.
More importantly to Mack, she and her teammates have taken IUWBB to a level never before seen, last season just being one win away from both a Big Ten title and a Final Four birth, reaching the first Elite 8 in program history in last year's electrifying NCAA run. And they ain't done yet!

But after a trip around the world and a season on the brink, the two Steves and their legendary teammates brought home a Big Ten title and IU's 5th national championship.
Tune in to hear fascinating insights and hilarious anecdotes told by yet another intelligent, fun, and successful Hoosier, Steve Eyl.

Eric & Ward head back to Bloomington for good times, great food, wonderful people and three disastrous sporting events. While many argue their very presence is to blame for IU’s athletic woes over the weekend, it didn’t stop them from enjoying everything else the world’s greatest city had to offer. Except for the unrelenting hellish heat. They didn't like that part.
Tune in to hear all about it, with special guest appearances from Teri Moren, Miller Kopp, Michael Durr, Tamar Bates, Trey Galloway, Anthony Leal and Great Dane Fife!
The Hoosiers lost to No. 8 Cincinnati, but the loss was more about IU beating themselves than getting beat by a better squad. We break down the defeat.
IU sits at 1-1 following a blowout win over Idaho, but this week's opponent, Cincinnati, is at another level, and Tom Allen's team knows it has to show up to prove itself at Memorial Stadium. We hear from Coach Allen and LB Marcelino McCrary-Ball.
Hailing from beautiful Pasadena in sunny southern California, Richard Mandeville grew up a USC fan and almost wound up a Wildcat playing for Lute Olson. Ultimately, however, he just couldn't say no to Coach Knight and everything Bloomington had to offer. He even grew to love the frigid winters!
Richard battled for five years alongside such Hoosier legends as Damon Bailey, Alan Henderson, Brian Evans, AJ Guyton and Michael Lewis, always ready to set a screen, grab a board, or knock down an open look.
It wasn't an easy five years for the towering big or the IU program, but Richard refused to quit and by the end this California kid became a proud Hoosier for life.
Indiana needed to cruise to a win over Idaho, and it did just that, scoring a 56-14 win in front of a huge crowd at Memorial Stadium. We break it down.

Coach Mike Woodson is back, not just on the pod, but way more importantly he's back in Bloomington as the head coach of our beloved Hoosiers!

Hearing Coach Woodson speak about all this and more, it's easy to understand why joy and confidence has returned to the men's basketball program right along with him... the ultimate prodigal son.
The Hoosiers' season-opener at Iowa was a disappointment to say the least, but while the 34-6 loss to the Hawkeyes highlighted offensive issues, IU's defense showed promise. We break it down.

Come one and come all to hear from the latest member of our Hoosier fam... a Five-Star, 6'4" point-guard from powerhouse prep school Montverde Academy... Jalen Hood-Schifino!!!
And if you thought you couldn't get anymore excited about our coaching staff's latest coup, just wait until you get to know this absolutely outstanding young man with an old soul. He's cool, confident, focused, mature, good-humored, and has more nicknames than you can shake a stick at.
Whether you call him Fino, J-Boogie or our personal favorite, Pungy, after listening to this you'll be that much more overjoyed to know he's arriving in Bloomington next fall.
New basketball coach Mike Woodson continued his roll by earning a commitment from Class of 2022 guard Jalen Hood-Schifino, building on the positive momentum that has been growing. We also hear from IU head football coach Tom Allen as the Hoosiers prep for the season.
This week's episode breaks ground on two exciting fronts! Early on Brandon Straub joins the show, whose generous donation to the Hoosier Hysterics! NIL Collective had landed him the dubious honor of being the first ever "Hysteric! of the Week."
And while being on the show with Eric & Ward is hardly a prize, Brandon did get to come back later in the episode and chop it up with the first ever current IU player to appear on the pod, Race Thompson! Few players have endured the hardships Race has faced since arriving in Bloomington. From redshirting his freshman year, to suffering a brutal concussion, to missing out on the NCAA tourney due to a frigging pandemic, to watching his head coach get fired, the hits have just kept coming. Fortunately, Race is tough as nails and mature beyond his years. He has not just survived, but thrived with his hardhat play and team first mindset, becoming a leader on the court and in his community.
We're joined by head coach Tom Allen and QBs Michael Penix and Jack Tuttle as the Hoosiers progress during training camp.
Eric, Holly, and Board Ward all happily left Los Angeles together, embarking to the Caribbean for every Hoosier's dream vacation. But for one of them... the dream became a nightmare.
Surprisingly it wasn't Holly, who thrived in the island sun, chaperoning Eric as he ran amok, starting pep rallies and stalking anyone wearing cream or crimson. The coaches, players, their families, and even fellow fans... no one was safe. Especially Board Ward, who went on to meet with a mysterious and grisly fate.
Coach Woodson and his basketball team fared much better, and we have the game footage to prove it! In what is certain to irk the Big Ten powers that be, step right up and get yourself an eyeful of our boys playing honest-to-goodness basketball.
Witness for yourself... IF you are Peegs Premium Member... why Indiana's back-to-back beat downs of Serbia's BC Mega has all of Hoosier nation abuzz!
Head coach Tom Allen is excited to start training camp, and his enthusiasm is clear as he starts getting his ballclub into shape.
Tom Crean returns, proving that after nine seasons at IU his tolerance for insane Hoosier fans remains incredibly high. More importantly, he provides his open and honest perspective on the post-Cody & Vic years. Fascinating details abound.
Coach Crean shares insight on how he helps his players' stock, right up until their name is called on draft night. He speaks to how Yogi became the unquestioned leader of his 2nd Big Ten Championship team, and about the meteoric rise of O.G. and Juwan. We learn about the super cool Leopard offense that took down UK in the tourney, and better understand the tragic events on Halloween night that led to Devin Davis nearly losing his life.
Most importantly, get answers you've always wanted to burning questions such as: What really happened during the Kyrie Irvie in-home visit? And what the hell was in that green liquid he drank on the sidelines?
All this and more on another can't miss episode of The Hoosier Hysterics!
We're not sure how this happened either. What was meant to be a singular conversation with everybody's favorite spice bomb, Coach Kenya Hunter, suddenly gave way to a 4x100 relay of the IU men’s basketball staff appearing on the podcast.
After a great start with Kenya, he smoothly handed off the Hysterics baton to Coach Ya, who during a lively discussion informed us Kenya had, in fact, left the office and was getting in a work out. What??
Eventually Coach Ya had to depart and we were left all alone, on a Zoom, staring at Kenya’s empty chair.
Before long the unsuspecting Director of Operations Benny Sander, and the Team & Recruiting Coordinator Brian Walsh, wandered into the office. Wise as he is, Benny insulted us and quickly left, but Walsh took pity and hung around to talk shop. Ultimately, however, he had to get on with his life, too.
Fortunately, this IS our life, so we decided to stick around, wondering what might happen next. Maybe Kenya would finally return? Perhaps Dane will make a last second and overall disappointing appearance? Possibly both of those things??
Suffice to say, this madness resulted in not only a one-of-a-kind episode, but one jam-packed with first-hand insight to the seriously good vibes coming out of the IU basketball program under Coach Mike Woodson.
The IU football season is around the corner, and we hear from head coach Tom Allen, QB Michael Penix, and WR Ty Fryfogle from Big Ten Media Days.
Uninvited, unprepared, and totally unashamed, Eric & Ward fly back to Indiana in this buddy road trip edition of Hoosier Hysterics!
Whether being booted off the West Baden grounds after crashing the IUMBB reunion, or being physically destroyed by the IUWBB staff, their pain is your pleasure. And when Cliff Marshall destroys them further, it only gets better.
Special guest appearances by Tom Allen, Teri Moren, Dane Fife and more, as the boys recount a joyous and often humiliating journey back to the greatest place on Earth.
The summer of 1984 changed everything in sports and had a huge impact on culture, and we're joined by Bloomington native L. Jon Wertheim, author of "Glory Days: The Summer of 1984 and the 90 Days That Changed Sports and Culture Forever," to discuss those pivotal months.
Grace Berger is one of the most accomplished players to ever lace them up for the Indiana University Women's Basketball Team, and she isn't done yet.
After a quiet freshman season she exploded onto the scene as a sophomore, routinely stuffing the stat line, winning Big Ten Player of the Week and being named to the All-Big Ten First Team. As a junior she made another seismic jump, averaging 15.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists while leading the nation in triple-doubles (3), being named to the All-Big Ten First Team, was on the Cheryl Miller Award Top 10 watchlist, and was an All-American Honorable Mention.
And of course then there is the fact she was a shining star who helped lead the Hoosiers to an upset of #1 seed NC State in the Sweet Sixteen on their way to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history.
Still want more?? Fine. Grace was then invited to play for Team USA where she made the AmeriCup Team and won a GOLD MEDAL for our country.
How to top all that??? Well, Grace is back in Bloomington for her senior season preparing with her talented teammates and incredible Coach Moren to do something even greater yet... go to the Final Four and win a National Championship.
In this incredible conversation we get Coach Tom Crean’s take on the impact of N.I.L. on collegiate athletics, and then go back to hear how he fell in love with the game of basketball, thanks in no small part to Coach Knight and his undefeated 1976 team. From there we learn about his rise through the coaching ranks, and what it was like to marry into one of the great coaching families in all of sports, the Harbaughs.
At last we get to Bloomington, where Coach Crean took the helm of an utterly annihilated IU basketball team, facing the biggest rebuild ever attempted by a blue blood college program. Undaunted after three years of intense struggle, in year four he delivered the greatest moment ever witnessed by an Assembly Hall crowd... the immortal Wat Shot. That watershed season ended with 3 wins over top 5 opponents and a thrilling run to the Sweet Sixteen, capped by Tom Crean being named ESPN National Coach of the Year.
Finally we arrive at the 2012-13 season when Coach Crean brought Indiana all the way back with a beloved squad including Cody Zeller, Victor Oladipo, Yogi Ferrell, Jordan Hulls, Christian Watford, Will Sheehey and Derek Elston. Together they spent ten weeks as the #1 team in the country, winning the Hoosiers first outright Big Ten championship in 20 years and earning a #1 seed in the NCAA tourney.
Indiana football has enjoyed success on the field, and it continues to build momentum on the recruiting trail. We discuss Tom Allen's summer with Matt Weaver.
No one knew when two lunatics set up shop in a dumpy California garage to do a IU podcast it would all lead to this... one of them running for Indiana University Board of Trustees.
What a journey it's been, and to commemorate the occasion Eric & Ward kick it old school one-on-one style to talk the election, hoops and whatever else crosses their deranged minds.
The Living Legend is back! And that’s not just some willy-nilly characterization, it became a cold hard fact when Angelo Pizzo was officially named a Living Legend by The Indiana Historical Society in 2011.
Angelo picks up right where he left off during our last conversation, diving deeper into the making of Hoosiers and how it changed his life. This badass spent 6 months on the IndyCar circuit, took private military tours overseas to research Navy SEALs, and even wrote a sequel to Goodfellas for Martin Scorsese! And oh yeah, he ended up creating another classic film called Rudy that was recently named the greatest football movie of all-time.
Amidst all this worldly success, our Hoosier hero left Hollywood and moved back home to raise his sons in the greatest city on earth, Bloomington. This man has a perspective on Indiana basketball like no other, and it is our great joy and privilege to present Angelo Pizzo - Part Two!
This week, we present an excerpt from "Hoosier Beginnings: The Birth of Indiana University Athletics" detailing the first-ever athletic team at IU.
For it or against it,Hoosier fans must come to grips with the reality of Name, Image & Likeness rights for college athletes. It is upon us, and will be one of the most consequential changes in the history of the NCAA.
CEO and co-founder of Opendorse, Blake Lawrence, brings knowledge and know-how to the pod, breaking down how his innovative company is working with IU and other universities across the country to take advantage of this brave new world.
IU football continues to get deeper by drawing more talent, and we got a chance to hear from newcomers Jaren Handy and Stephen Carr earlier this week.
An Indianapolis high school phenom, Eric Gordon grew up wanting to play for IU. When Kelvin Sampson took charge in Bloomington it became a reality. Spurning Bruce Weber and Illinois, his time as a Hoosier began with controversy, only to end in more… the firing of his coach and the collapse of his team.
But when Eric Gordon was on the court, few to don the Candy Stripes ever did it better. Paired with DJ White, the Hoosiers were a force to be reckoned with, starting the season at 17-1 and ranked in the top ten. They had all the makings of a Final Four team.
Gordon dominated upon arrival, and didn’t even let a broken wrist derail his historic run, scoring an astounding 21 points a game on his way to winning Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
Gordon's brief but brilliant college career ended when he was drafted 8th by the LA Clippers, and has been making us proud ever since. Winning 6th Man of the Year and the All Star 3-point contest, he's averaged over 16 points a game during a 13-year NBA run that is still going strong.
Eric Gordon is one of the best basketball players to ever play for Indiana University. Period. Done. End of discussion.
Imagine you’re a kid growing up steps from the IU campus, strolling inside The Fieldhouse to rebound for the likes of Archie Dees & Walt Bellamy. As an undergrad, you're in the crowd as Big George McGinnis and Steve Downing take the court. Later, after moving out to pursue your dreams in Hollywood, you decide at the last moment to attend the 1981 title game in Philly, and suddenly find yourself flying back to Bloomington with the team to celebrate.
Still want more? Well, what if you then go ahead and write & produce the greatest sports movie of all-time, bouncing between Jack Nicholson, Gene Hackman and Burt Reynolds to play your leading man, and after it becomes an instant classic you are personally invited by Robert Montgomery Knight to travel on team road trips whenever you want?
While this is pure, absurdist fantasy for we mere mortals, it is in fact the life & times of Angelo Pizzo. While many recognize him as the author of of the greatest sports movie of all-time, Hoosiers, few understand just how much of a Hoosier he really is... until now!
And once you listen to what happened the night of the 1987 championship game, you will understand there is no one alive more dedicated to the Indiana Hoosiers than Angelo Pizzo.
Mike Woodson met with the media to give a summer update on his club, including player movement and what he's looking forward to as he gets a chance to work with players.
In 2008 Fred Glass was hired as IU A.D. to salvage a dispirited athletic department reeling from the tragic loss of Terry Hoeppner and firing of Kelvin Sampson. Fred accomplished so much more than that, leading over a decade of astounding growth and unprecedented success, both athletically and academically, for all 24 teams representing his beloved alma mater. By the time he handed the reins to Scott Dolson, Fred had secured his legacy as one of the most important Hoosiers of our time, and thus the IU President's Medal of Excellence was bestowed upon him..
And yet his achievements beyond Bloomington are equally impressive. At age 29 he was Chief of Staff for Indiana Governor Evan Bayh. Later he was instrumental in the building of Lucas Oil Stadium, thus ensuring the Colts would stay in Indianapolis. He then went on to help his hometown secure the Super Bowl in 2012, and it's place in the permanent rotation for hosting the NCAA Final Four.
Honestly, it's far too much to sum up here, so you best pull up a seat and have yourself a listen to all things Fred Glass.
The marquee sports for Indiana athletics are abounding with positives, maybe the most in decades, and it can be kind of scary.
As if being the greatest running back in the history of the MAC wasn’t enough, Deland McCullough was only getting started. After injuries cut short his playing career, he soon found his professional calling. Blossoming as a running backs coach for his alma mater Miami (OH), he then joined Kevin Wilson’s staff in Bloomington, churning out the likes of Jordan Howard and Tevin Coleman. After a fateful internship with the Seattle Seahawks and a stop at USC, Deland then signed on with the Kansas City Chiefs and became nothing less than a Super Bowl champion.
But none of that could compare to the best place in creation, Indiana University, and to all of Hoosier nation’s delight he has come back home, bringing his incredibly talented family with him. Along with 3 of his sons now committed to the Tom Allen’s program, he just help land USC transfer Stephen Carr, and is thus instrumental in getting the three highest rated football recruits in IU history.
And oh yeah, he has the most unbelievable personal story you will ever hear ever. Literally, you won’t be able to believe it, but it’s 1000% true. No spoilers on that though, you just gotta listen.
To leave Indiana University as a top-10 scorer in program history makes you a star. Graduating with more assists than anyone to ever play for IU makes you a legend. But to depart Bloomington having accomplished both of those feats… while winning two Big Ten titles… that makes you one of the absolute greatest Hoosiers of all-time. Toss in two Indiana high school championships from back in the day, plus just weeks ago inking a deal to play with the Los Angeles Clippers, and it should come as no surprise that the Hysterics are very, very, very excited to be speaking with Kevin “Yogi” Ferrell.
Tradition is huge at IU, but why do some things become traditions while others never catch on? And why to we hold on to traditions when they become dusty? Some early May thoughts.
The final piece of the IU coaching puzzle is at last in place as Assistant Coach Yasir Rosemond has climbed on board and wasted no time getting to work. Hear all about how he is not only recruiting new players, but how he and the staff are emphasizing fun and instilling confidence in a program that have hurt for both in recent seasons. Growing up in Georgia and dreaming of playing for Coach Knight, his road to Bloomington has been long, winding and yes, even controversial. But after finally hearing him speak at length, it's hard to deny Coach Ya is exactly where he's meant to be.
Indiana football recently wrapped up spring practice, and we're joined by Matt Weaver to analyze the Hoosiers' offseason.
Not one, but TWO brand-new Hoosiers visit the Hysterics to discuss joining ranks with the greatest basketball program of all-time. Tamar "Scoop" Bates is even more impressive as a person than he is playing ball, and believe you us that is saying something. His all-around greatness is due in no small part to his delightful mom, Lajasmia, who was kind enough to join in on our fun.
But wait, there's more! Miller "Terminator" Kopp was dragged out of the gym by a team of wild horses to make his appearance. Miller proves yet again Coach Woodson and staff aren't just recruiting stone cold killers to his squad, but fantastic human beings to boot. If didn't think you couldn't get anymore excited about the new-look Hoosiers, think again!
Xavier Johnson is a complete and total bad ass, now bringing his scintillating game and alpha dog mentality to Bloomington. Still, the highly sought-after transfer is kind and generous enough to chat with two Hysteric dorks, both who are terrible at disguising how geeked they are about his arrival, and what it means for Coach Woodson's Indiana Hoosiers. Tune in to hear from "X" about his game, his mindset, and how he plans to bring IU back to the Big Dance.
Dane Fife has returned to Assembly Hall as an assistant coach with the Hoosiers, and Dane spent time with the media discussing his vision for IU under Mike Woodson.
The prodigal son has returned. And with him, so too does the hope of countless Hoosiers everywhere. Reclaimed from the barren wastelands of East Lansing, this beloved member of Indiana’s last Final Four team now resides in Bloomington and the rest of college basketball is officially on notice. After several minutes of learning how to use his phone, Dane dives into his earthshaking decision and explains how he, Kenya and Coach Woodson will go about restoring IU back to its former and most righteous glory.
New IU head basketball coach Mike Woodson has made some early waves during his tenure, and the Hoosiers are filled with positive vibes.
The good times roll on as Woody keeps two more key players at IU, and recruits another to come back home to coach. As if that weren't enough, in Final Four action Baylor humiliated Kelvin Sampson en route to assuring the 1976 Hoosiers remain the last unbeaten NCAA champs. For a special bonus, honorary Hysteric Brian Evans pops in to celebrate this Indiana winning streak, earning himself a makeshift Hysteric emoji.
His teammate, his GM, his player, and his fellow coach. Four Hoosier legends join us to celebrate Mike Woodson's triumphant return to Indiana. First, a euphoric Landon Turner proudly shares why his old teammate is the perfect man to lead IU back to glory. Next, a giddy Glen Grunwald extols the virtues of Woody not just as his teammate, but as an NBA GM who hired him to be head coach of the storied Knicks franchise. Jared Jeffries then takes a brief hiatus from his eternal spring break to reflect on his time in New York playing under Coach Woodson. Finally, his fellow assistant at the Cavaliers, Keith Smart, displays incredible class and unity by showing up to praise and support his brother, despite being passed over for the dream job that ultimately went to Woody.
The Hoosiers made an intriguing choice in hiring Mike Woodson, a low-risk, high-reward move that could revive a struggling program.
IU's basketball head coaching search continues, but while we wait for the future, it's important to remember the past the way it actually happened.
In 120 years of Indiana basketball has there ever been a week this insane where absolutely nothing happened?? Sure, we all THOUGHT Brad was coming home, and what a fun ride that was until it all came crashing down. Never daunted, we quickly regrouped to lose our collective mind over Beard, Beilein, Matta, Muss,Woody, Calbert, Dane, Lewis and whoever else could maybe perhaps possibly be our next fearless leader. Fact is we still have no clue who it will actually be, so let's do the only thing we can... talk about it some more!
When Jay Bilas calls out the Indiana fanbase, the Hysterics answer. He's the preeminent voice in college basketball and even though we are the opposite of that, we just couldn't let his comments slide. Much to his credit, Jay immediately agreed to hop on the pod and discuss these points of contention, despite having no idea of the lunacy that awaited. Let the games begin!
Wow. It happened. ARCHIE IS GONE. So who better to help make sense of it all than IU legend & UCLA assistant coach, Michael Lewis. His old teammate & Michigan State assistant coach, Dane Fife, was SUPPOSED to join us for some lively shit-talking prior to their showdown in the tourney, but Dane straight ghosted it us. Instead, we got extra quality time with Michael. He delves into how he is transitioning into the bubble, and how gross it will be to play in Mackey Arena. As the subject shifts to the head coaching vacancy in Bloomington, you'll hear just how much IU means to Michael, and what it should mean to any person leading our beloved Hoosiers program.
Archie Miller's time at IU has come to an end, and now the spotlight falls to AD Scott Dolson, who is focused on building on tradition with a vision for the future.
Indiana's season came to an end with a loss to Rutgers at the Big Ten Tournament, sending the program into a summer filled with question marks.
Not much has happened since Tom Allen first graced us with his presence, save him winning Big Ten Coach of the Year and AFCA National Coach of the Year by beating Penn State, Michigan State, Michigan and Wisconsin while leading his mighty Hoosiers to a Top 10 ranking and their 2nd consecutive New Year's Day bowl game for the first time in this history of our beloved university. Coincidentally, he just got a pay raise to the tune of 1 million more smackaroos per year. Other than that, it's been a pretty quiet 8 months for the most incredible man in the universe. Still, any exposure you can get to this man makes your life infinitely better, so why not give a listen?
The Hoosiers struggled once again from the perimeter en route to closing the regular season with a five-game losing streak following a loss to Purdue. We break it down.
Michigan State played bad basketball, but the Hoosiers were worse, and IU fell in East Lansing. We break down some ugly basketball.
The bitter war has drawn to a close and the terms of peace include our fiercest adversary, Brian Evans, returning to the pod. And boy is it good he's back. Gut-wrenching as the current state of Hoosier hoops is, somehow Brian Evans makes everything okay. Revel in this intimate peak into the life of an IU All-American as he drives home from yoga and sips on a gigantic Diet Coke, regaling us with tales & knowledge. From his time in the NBA and playing overseas, to how hard John Calipari lobbied him for the Indiana job TWICE, it just doesn't get any more fun than Brian Evans.
Indiana was overwhelmed by Michigan on Senior Day, and the Hoosiers' loss leaves Archie Miller's team looking for answers.
Indiana started hot, but it couldn't sustain it, and everything fell apart in the second half of an 11-point loss to Rutgers. We break down the bad loss.
Jared Jeffries is way better than Brian Evans. Taller, nicer and never ever says he’ll be on our show and then totally ghosts us. But we’re not bitter at Brian Evans. He did us, and all of you, a big favor. Because we instead chatted with way better Jared Jeffries and now you get to hear his way better thoughts, on everything from the money-spending tendencies of his IU teammates to his time playing with Michael Jordan. Brian Evans never played with Michael Jordan. Enjoy!
Indiana got off to a strong start vs. Michigan State, but the Hoosiers fell apart defensively and suffered a tough loss that will have a long-term impact on the season.
The Hoosiers' offense was clicking, and it allowed Indiana to overcome some sloppy play and shaky-at-times defense to beat Minnesota.
No pair of players entered Bob Knight’s Hoosier program with more success, greater hype, or bigger expectations than Jay Edwards & Lyndon Jones. Fresh off 3-straight Indiana high school single-class championships and being named co-Mr. Basketball, the best friends known as “Silk & Smoke” were more than ready to take their winning ways to Bloomington. Arriving in the wake of the 1987 NCAA crown and Steve Alford’s departure, they soon battled their way into the starting lineup and forever claimed a place in Hoosier history with unforgettable buzzer-beating heroics, and an astonishing Big Ten title that no one could've predicated.
Indiana played a familiar game at Ohio State, but this time, IU couldn't rally to make it a battle. We break down the Hoosiers' loss.
The Hoosiers didn't always look great at Northwestern, but they showed plenty of grit in battling back to pull off the defeat of the Wildcats in double OT.
While each former player has a unique perspective on their time in candy stripes, none so extraordinarily so as Uwe Blab. Born and raised in Germany, where basketball wasn’t a thing and his towering frame led to ridicule, he discovered community and acceptance upon moving to Illinois and playing high school hoops. Heavily recruited as senior, Uwe finally committed to IU and the legendary Bob Knight… having no idea who Bob Knight was. He soon found out, and was likewise initiated into the rivalry with Kentucky and Purdue, and the debauchery that is the Little 500. Learn all about this beloved Hoosier, including just how thoughtful, funny and kind Uwe Blab truly is.
Indiana overcame a tough outing from its backcourt, but the guards stepped up when needed, and the Hoosiers finished a sweep of Iowa.
Indiana's inconsistency on both end of the floor reared its head again in a 75-71 overtime loss to Illinois at Assembly Hall. We break down IU's defeat.
At long last Peegsters everywhere can put a face & voice to the name we depend on for everything Indiana football, Matt Weaver. Before he became our go to guy on each Tom Allen recruit and coaching hire, Matt bled cream & crimson. Raised in a household that loved Bob Knight and Bill Mallory, he made his way from the architectural dynamo of Columbus to attend IU, soon finding himself a part of the program he’d one day cover for our beloved Peegs. Enjoy this conversation with Matt not just for the expertise & insight, but in also getting to know another cherished member of our Hoosier family.
No player holds a bigger place in the hearts of Hoosiers everywhere than Landon Turner. The All-American out of Arsenal Tech oozed with potential but constantly found himself in Coach Knight’s doghouse, finally putting it all together his junior year to help lead IU to the 1981 National Title. Expectations for Turner’s final season skyrocketed, and many predicted he was destined to be a top pick in the NBA Draft. And then tragedy struck. A car accident left him paralyzed from the waist down and a brilliant basketball career was over in an instant. Instead of wallowing in self-pity, Turner soon found new meaning in his life, and began to spread that meaning to all he touched. Now, almost 40 years later, his message of love, joy, determination and belief is more important and more powerful than ever.
Inconsistency plagued the Hoosiers in a 74-70 loss to Rutgers, and IU once again is searching for answers in its up-and-down season.
The Hoosiers scored a huge win over No. 4 Iowa on the road, and they did it by turning up their defense, which gives them something to build upon.
The inimitable Steve Risley won an NIT title, two Big Ten crowns, and the 1981 National Championship with the Indiana Hoosiers, and boy does he have the stories to prove it. Tune in to hear a virtual smorgasbord of hilarious and insightful anecdotes about his time in the trenches with Coach Knight and the legendary IU teams of the late 70's and early 80's. His personality even bigger than his 6'8" frame, Steve gives an unfiltered take on the program, then and now, like no one else can.
The Hoosiers were inconsistent and struggled to shoot from 3-point range and the free-throw line in a loss to Purdue. We break it down.
Raised in Anderson with a mother in the ministry, perhaps a higher power intervened to send Mr. Basketball & McDonald’s All-American Ray Tolbert to Bloomington. Whatever it was certainly saved him from that hellhole in West Lafayette, and for that we all feel blessed. Not only was Ray one of the most consistent starters, scorers and rebounders in IU history, he was also an all-timer when it came to monster dunks. Playing alongside the likes of Woody, Zeke, Landon, and Wittman, this Hoosier Hall of Famer won a NIT title, a Pan-American gold medal, two Big Ten crowns, and the 1981 National Championship. And to that we say hallelujah!!
The Hoosiers built a huge lead then had to hang on at Nebraska, but balance and a critical road win are the biggest takeaways from the victory.
The Hoosiers took Wisconsin to double overtime, but the Badgers made a few more plays to pull out a victory. We look at why the defeat still came with some positives.
Pack a bag and water the plants because you’re headed to the Outback Bowl! Ride along with Board Ward and his trusted handler, Real Eric, on a whirlwind odyssey to Tampa where they stalk IU football stars, check in with Hoosier legends, and yuck it up with anybody else they happen across. Somehow they even find time to go to the game, which while the final score isn’t what anybody wanted, at least it resulted in a catastrophic trip back to the airport. LEO!!!
Indiana turned up the offense in the second half to pull off a much-needed, come-from-behind win over Maryland. We break it down.
Indiana lost the Outback Bowl by wandering from their standards set in 2020, and we break down the short- and long-term impact of the defeat.
Indiana needed overtime to beat Penn State, but the Hoosiers managed to win a much-needed victory despite playing less-than-stellar defense.
Indiana plans to make a statement vs. Ole Miss in the Outback Bowl, and head coach Tom Allen knows his team will be focused Jan. 2.
Lilly King could have swam for any school in the country, but the Evansville prodigy chose to stay close to home and attend IU. Lucky for us, as she went on to dominate her opponents and destroy the NCAA record books, becoming a 4 x All-American and one of the greatest collegiate swimmers of all-time. Along the way, Lilly won two gold medals at the Olympics in Rio, got Tweeted at by Samuel L. Jackson, and swam the the 50m and 100m breaststroke faster than any woman in the recorded history of the world. Confident, funny and a total bad ass, Lilly King is everything you want in a Hoosier hero, and she isn't even close to being done.
Indiana played well defensively at Illinois, but the Hoosiers lacked balance offensively and fell to the Fighting Illini. We break down the defeat.
Indiana football is headed to the Outback Bowl, but that positive also carries the feeling of disrespect. But it could push IU to bigger things down the road.
A Nigerian prince, born in Brooklyn and raised on Staten Island, travels to Bloomington and becomes the greatest defender in the history of Indiana University football. No, this isn’t our pitch for the Coming to America sequel… it’s the incredible real-life story of Adewale Ogunleye. And like any hero’s journey, it isn’t all rose petals and royal baths. “Wale” battled homesickness, saw his beloved mentor Coach Mallory fired, and after foregoing the NFL Draft, suffered a devastating knee-injury his senior year. Yet these trials and tribulations served only to make him stronger. Our leading man sallied forth to become a Pro Bowl sack master with the Miami Dolphins, then signed a record-breaking contract with the Chicago Bears on his way to playing in the Super Bowl. Adewale Ogunleye is truly the stuff of Hoosier legend.
Indiana turned up its defense and shared the ball well to score a critical come-from-behind win over Butler in the Crossroads Classic. We break down IU's victory.
There won't be an IU-Purdue game this year, but there still is plenty to be excited about for the Hoosiers. We hear from Tom Allen on a range of issues.
We here at the Hysterics never dabble in hyperbole, so when we tell you Antwaan Randle El is the single greatest athlete to ever attend Indiana University, it’s merely stating cold, hard facts. This man was not only drafted by the Chicago Cubs out of high school, he also played basketball for Bobby Knight. Additionally, he was one of the most thrilling players college football has ever seen, delighting Hoosiers everywhere as he rewrote the record books and revolutionized the quarterback position. Antwaan did some other things, too, like playing a decade in the NFL, where he became a Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion. The simple fact is, he's a freaking legend.
Indiana returned to Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall and rolled to an 87-52 victory, showcasing what is possible when IU is making perimeter shots. We break it down.
The Big Ten changed its minimum requirement for football title game eligibility, hurting the Hoosiers in the process, and basketball struggles on the road. We break down a rough Wednesday.
If you're in high school and hold your own playing pick-up games with George McGinnis in his prime, there’s a good chance you’ve got a future in basketball. And boy did Mike Woodson ever. Heading to Bloomington with his jump shot in tow, Woody became one of the great scorers in Hoosier history. He joined Coach Knight and teammate Isiah Thomas to win a gold at the Pan American games, and later took down Purdue to claim the NIT crown. Topping it all off in his senior year, Woody miraculously returned from midseason back surgery and led his team to a Big Ten title, and was named conference MVP having only played SIX GAMES. Teri Moren was born in a small town, and she had herself a ball in a small town. A basketball to be specific, and the town was Seymour, where Johnny Cougar was on eternal rotation and Bobby Knight’s Hoosiers were required family viewing. Tragically, she lost her way and went to play for the school that shall not be mentioned, only to find the ultimate redemption… becoming head coach of IU Women’s Basketball and beating that damn school 5 out of the last 6 times.
In doing so, Coach Moren has led her program to unprecedented heights, including 4-straight 20-win seasons, reaching as high as #12 in national rankings, multiple trips to March Madness and an unforgettable WNIT Championship in front of a packed & raucous Assembly Hall.

After shunning the likes of Michigan and Ohio State, AT joined forces with Bill Mallory to defeat those very powerhouses and usher in the most successful era Indiana football has ever known. Andrae Patterson is not just a gentle giant, he is a thoughtful, funny, warm and reflective giant. The high school phenom from Abilene, Texas had his pick of any school in the country and chose IU after his mother orchestrated a surprise visit to Coach Knight. Once there he embraced a career of highs… say a 39-point virtuoso performance to thump Duke in the pre-season NIT… and one of lows, including injury, early exits from the NCAA tourney, and the abrupt departure of key teammates. Through it all his passion and commitment won the day, leading first to a long career as a professional player and now as the Director of Basketball Administration for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Archie Miller's first big recruiting coup at IU wasn't Romeo Langford, it was strength & conditioning coach Clif Marshall. After attending both Kentucky and Louisville, he escaped the bluegrass for much greener pastures. At just 24-years-old Clif found himself on the training staff of the Cincinnati Bengals, and soon became the Performance Director at Ignition Athletics Performance Group, working with countless professional athletes in the NFL, NBA, MLB, and MLS. When the chance to join Coach Miller in Bloomington appeared, this man's faith lead him to make the leap, and all of Hoosier nation is the better for it. Clif's importance to the Hoosier program is even bigger than his biceps, and he has the heart & passion to match.

Behold Tom Bolyard. The man who led Ft. Wayne South Side to an IHSAA title his junior year and was a Parade All-American as senior. The man who played for Branch McCracken and took the court with Walt Bellamy, Jimmy Rayl, the Van Arsdales, John McGlocklin, and still somehow became one of the all-time great scorers in Indiana history. Drafted by the NBA, Tom instead became a coach. He soon found himself back in Bloomington assisting Lou Watson and developing the likes of George McGinnis and Steve Downing. Once Bobby Knight arrived, Tom began his work with alumni outreach, driving the young coach around the state to press the flesh. In other words, Tom Bolyard has been a vital party of IU since 1959. He is a man to be treasured by anyone who calls themselves a Hoosier.
Sharp-shooter. Sniper. Assassin from beyond-the-arc. Matt Roth literally dreams of draining three-pointers. His historic accuracy from deep is only matched by the guts & determination it took to march into Bloomington and do the dirty work of restoring a decimated program to its former glory. His accolades on both ends of the court place him among the finest to ever to represent the Hoosiers. And his success went well beyond his own stunning stats & accomplishments. Greg and his teammates led Indiana to more victories over three seasons than any other team in IU history, winning two Big Ten titles and making it to a Final Four before horrific officiating and then Alan Hederson's knee kept them from winning it all. Enjoy a damn good time with one of the best to do ever do it for Bobby Knight and our beloved Cream & Crimson.

His ranking fell, but he took his high school team to back-to-back state titles and punched his ticket for Bloomington.
