Cupple combines a reusable cup AND reusable water bottle in one, reducing the number of items to carry for a sustainable, on-the-go lifestyle. Save space. Save waste.
Connect with Amanda and Eve
The Cupple story began when Founders and cousins Amanda & Eve realized they shared the same concerns about the planet and wanted to make a positive contribution towards reducing litter and removing waste from the environment.
“We wanted to create a product which would replace the two most commonly thrown away everyday items - cups and bottles - and offer a convenient, sustainable choice for people on the move. We have simply put them together so there is only one thing to grab in the morning.
We are proud to be members of 1% for the Planet, a global network of businesses and individuals taking responsibility and supporting the environment. We have committed to donating 1% of annual gross sales to The Woodland Trust and the Marine Conservation Society."

Do you believe in the power of networking?
A Harvard Business Review article I've just read talks about how having a support network as a leader is critical to success.
LinkedIn, traditional networking, online networking and masterminds are all kinds of networking.
The know, like and trust factor is so important when it comes to business growth and you get that through building relationships with other people.
I encourage you to show up, nurture relationships and create connections - it's not an immediate result but putting the time, energy and love into networking does work.
Being a founder can be lonely and challenging so connecting with others that are going through similar things on their growth journey is super important.
And also it can be a lot of fun!

SMART GOALS
This is a good resource here
Our own wellbeing as founders is critical to grow a successful and profitable business and to be able to function at our best.
As founders, we're not only running businesses but we need to look after our team, find the right suppliers and partners and deliver a return for investors.
We need to be kind to ourselves and take time for our own wellbeing. Something that can be neglected when there are so many demands on our time.
Our wellbeing is something that we definitely need to prioritise.
Perfectionism takes away the fun and joy. It stops us from doing the things that we want to do. It prevents us from showing up and doing what we want to do!
For many years I didn't want to put something out there until it was perfect and I resisted and struggled. The thing is that when we do that we stop ourselves from creating and getting valuable feedback.
I love the way that perfectionism is now being talked about much more, as I believe it can really hamper growth.
Let's start off with Happy New Year!
It's been a while. My podcasting has been MIA whilst myself and my family have been dealing with everything that 2020 has thrown our way!
But I'm back and my goal for 2020 is to podcast daily all about growth, well actually let's be slightly more realistic and change that to regularly rather than daily.
I'm going to keep the episodes short and just share one mini-insight or topic. We're all short of time, aren't we?
Thank you to my long-standing friend and podcasting supporter David N for always encouraging me and showing me the way!
Knowing your numbers, understanding what they mean, being clear on how to read your management accounts, and how to use that information to shape your decisions - these are essential, but challenging skills that founders need to master.
I met Reza Hooda when we were both panellists on a webinar called 'Cash is King'. He qualified as a chartered accountant and tax advisor with PwC and then became Managing Partner of Walji & Co chartered accountants in 2008. He has since transformed the small traditional firm on the south coast into a highly successful practice being acknowledged in the 2019 Accounting Excellence Top 5 small firm of the year awards by Accounting Web.
Over the last 12 months, Reza has built a virtual coaching and mentoring business for other accounting firm owners to help them build more enjoyable, successful and profitable accounting firms. He has used social media extensively to build his reputation amongst the accountant community where he now has a large following – over 500 accountants in his Facebook group and every month nearly 100 accounting firm owners attend his mentoring sessions.
I invited Reza onto the podcast to share his experience of helping entrepreneurs make better use of their management accounts.

Why is market research important for your business? - You need to know what your customers want from you. Market research allows you to find out how you can better serve your customers. Sometimes, as business owners, we think we know what our customers want. But when we stop and ask them, we might find that their problems or needs are different.
What is the difference between primary research and secondary research? - You can get a lot of useful information (often from free) from secondary research. But primary research can give you insight you'd otherwise be missing out on.
What is the purpose of a survey? - The purpose of a survey is to find out more about what your customers want and need. You want to better understand your customers and find out whether the product or service you're about to launch may be lacking some features that your customers are actually interested in. A survey also allows to explore price points and gauge how much your customers are willing to pay for a particular product or service. And last but not least, running a survey allows you to become familiar with your customers' language. By using their own words and phrases, you'll be able to connect with them on a deeper level.
How do you do a survey? - You can survey people online or offline. If you go down the online route, you can use services like Typeform or Survey Monkey. Or you can run a survey offline by calling up people, doing mini-interviews, or going to networking events. Whichever way you decide to do it, keep your survey short and sweet.

Topics covered:
What are strategic partnerships? - Strategic partnerships can bring benefits to your business. For example, assuming you don't have an agreement where you have to give referrals, by being in a partnership with a business that will refer your products or services to their clients, you could reduce your marketing spend. The only money you're spending is the time you're investing in building relationships with other businesses.
How do you build strategic partnerships? - You can find strategic partners in different ways. For example, via networking, through referrals, or on LinkedIn. Find people that you trust and connect with them. Aim to build relationships and talk about ways you could work together.
Examples of strategic partners - You could run join competitions or joint events with a strategic partner. In doing this, you bring similar target audiences together, and both businesses can connect with their ideal clients. Or you could bundle two products together. If your product is complementary to a product a strategic partner is selling, why not sell them together?

But as we grow older, we become exposed to the realities of our environment, the opinion of others, and the influences of adults that we respect. So we start to protect ourselves. And over time we cover ourselves up - we cover what was golden about us. And we do this to survive - because if we show it, we risk it being stolen or damaged.
Why we should all be setting an ultimate goal for ourselves - in life and business - The vast majority of people don't set goals; they drift through life, floating on the river of life and let the current take them wherever it'll take them. And people who do set goals often feel frustrated because they set short-time goals, meet them, set some more, and keep moving the goal post. So what should we be doing instead? Have a 'North Star' - an ultimate goal and destination. Your North Star might be something you'll never achieve. But knowing what your ultimate goal helps you to reverse engineer the process to get there.
Why you should strive to turn your fear into gratitude - By altering our thinking we can change our perspective. By changing our perspective, we can start to move from fear to gratitude. And we do this when we realise that everything in front of us is a blessing - an opportunity to move closer to our ultimate goal. And that enables us to feel energised and want to keep striving, even when we come up against hurdles.

How to identify the threats to your business - What is going on in the market that could be a threat to your business? Are there any policies or regulations that may affect you in a negative way? Are there any technologies that could replace what you're doing? I ask these and more questions that will help you with this exercise.
Examples of threats - Your competitors could represent a threat to your business, especially if they're launching a new product or service or aggressively marketing them. Do they have bigger marketing budgets? Or perhaps they're backed by funding?Disruptors in the market could also be a threat to your business. Think of Airbnb, which acted as a disruptor for anyone working in the hotel industry, for example.

Why its good to identify weaknesses in your business - To some people that sounds like quite a negative thing, but I actually love identifying weaknesses in my client's business because then I know what I need to focus on to help them to grow. Because once you know what your weaknesses are (if you identify the weaknesses that are critical to the business's success) then you can make sure that you sort them out!
Examples of Weaknesses in a SWOT - I work with a whole range of clients in different industries and of different sizes, but a lot of my clients come to me, they choose me, because they want help with their marketing and they want help with digital. So quite often there might be weaknesses in those areas.

Topics covered:
Morning routines - Will breaks down his own routine and shares each of the things he chooses to do in the morning and why they are important. I also share my own take on it, and the incredible results I've experienced by waking up just half an hour earlier each morning.
Why we need to start the day by making time for ourselves first - The idea of waking up earlier than when you need to wake up (be an hour, two hours, or even just half an hour) is about starting the day for you. It’s about getting yourself in the best possible mindset to tackle the day ahead. Because success (however you define it) is 80% mindset and 20% skills and mechanics.
Why cold showers are great for you - Exposure to cold water (or cold in general) is the only way to quickly get out of the state we’re in when we wake up from deep sleep during a REM cycle. It’s been proven it takes us 5 hours to naturally get out of this state, which is why most of us reach out for a caffeine boost!
Will and I also talk a bit more about the tool he uses with his clients, ‘The Happiness Monitor‘, which allows you to score (on a scale of 1 to 10) how happy you feel in 20 areas of your life.
Other resources mentioned in this episode:
When it comes to meditation, Will uses Muse but also mentioned apps like Headspace and Brain.fm.
The Miracle Morning, by Hal Elrod.
The Daily Stoic, by Ryan Holiday and Stephen Hanselman.

What happens to your prospects? - Your prospects are the people that have never heard of you. They don't even know you exist yet. But they're the ones you want to buy from you. So what would be the journey that they go through as they get to know you?
What happens to your leads? - When a prospect shows an interest, they might then join your newsletter. Maybe they've watched a video, downloaded your lead magnet or done a quiz. Maybe you've met them at a networking event and they said they're interested. That means they've now become leads. So what's the process that takes a lead into a customer?
What happens to your customers? - Then last of all, when they become customers, if you're selling a product, for example, you need to be thinking about delivery, packaging, the unpacking process, etc. It's about providing great customer service. It's about being remarkable and surprising and delighting your customers.
My call to action today would be to map out your customer journey. Think about what happens from the point a prospect becomes a lead, through to a customer. Ensure that you are delivering a really fantastic customer experience at every one of those points, that you are on brand and that you're embodying your brand values and what you believe about your business at each one of those steps.

Topics covered:
Why I do an SEO audit with all my clients - When I start working with a new client, I always get an SEO audit done. That means looking at their website to check whether they have any issues. There could be technical issues with the site structure or with the speed, which means that the website is slow at loading (and neither Google nor customers like that). Or there could be issues with the content. For example, duplicate content, which, again, Google is not a fan of.
Why your website may not rank well, with Silvia Del Corso - Silvia who is an SEO expert talks about the reasons why a website might not rank well. We can't spot what is going on just by looking at a page - often there are issues and errors that are holding the page back from ranking well that we can't see. She shares her thoughts on why an SEO audit is a good thing to do.

Topics covered:
The importance of content - Content's really important because it allows your prospective customers, or your existing customers, to get to know, like and trust you. And obviously people buy from businesses and people that they trust. So creating the right content is a way for you to show prospective customers, or existing customers, that you're fantastic at what you do.
Different types of content - There's video, there's audio (like podcasts), there's written content (like blog posts, but also case studies, testimonials, and social media content). There's visual content too. So content really encompasses a lot of different ways of connecting with customers. And one of the reasons that I'm doing this podcast is because I want to share what I know. I want people to get to know, like, and trust me.
Create content that's relevant to your audience - With content, one of the things that I always say, and this is something I learned about ten years ago when I first started blogging, is that content must be regular, relevant, and unique. So make sure that you're writing content that is relevant to the audience, to your customers, the people that you're selling to.
Repurposing content, and some tips around creating the right content for your business.
I've also got a blog post on my site which is eight tips to get more out of your content marketing.

Why you should measure your marketing - Measuring what you're doing is important because if you don't, you don't know what is working and what isn't. And that means you're probably wasting loads of time and money on marketing that isn't working!
How to set up a reporting system - One of the first things I do when I start working with a new client is to help them set up their reporting to make sure they have a proper reporting process in place. We create a spreadsheet with all the strategies and tactics and decide how we're going to measure each one. Every month a report gets filled in, and we talk about it at our monthly review meetings. Or, if they are running their own quarterly review meetings with the board, for example, they've got all the relevant information in there. What will become really obvious is that if you're spending money on something that's not working, you'll know that either you need to tweak, massively reduce your spending, or totally stop that activity altogether.
Understanding the numbers - The key to marketing is to always test. You're always looking at what's working and thinking about how you can improve what you're doing.
The numbers you should check - Spend on marketing, and how many leads and customers you get from that; the cost to get you a lead; the cost to get you a customer; conversion rates; the return on investment.
What is Customer Lifetime Value - Another metric I love is Customer Lifetime Value (or CLV). And I'm always surprised by how many of the bigger businesses I've worked with don't use this as a metric. But don't worry - I've introduced it to them! And if you want to find out more, I've written a blog post here on customer lifetime value is so important.
If you want more information, I've also written a blog post on 7 ways to increase your customer lifetime value. And another one that is relevant to this topic on six key marketing metrics.
More about me:
If you're not already measuring your marketing, then make sure this is one of your priorities in 2020! You can start with a spreadsheet by listing all the things you're spending money on and have a column that shows how many customers you got from that activity, how many leads, what it cost you to acquire that lead or that customer, etc. And then you can look at the return on investment.
Do let me know how you get on with measuring your marketing and what insights you get. And if you need some help, check out my Work With Me page. You can book a FREE 30-minute discovery call with me. We'll discuss the challenges you’re facing, and talk about how I can help you grow your business.

The purpose of Google My Business - The purpose of Google My Business is that it helps you reach and engage with your users on Google. It also enables you to get Google reviews, which I think is really key because this is social proof to potential customers or clients that you are good at what you do. It also allows people to find your business in Google searches, and shows your business on Google Maps. So it's great for people who have businesses that are very focused in the local area.
Setting up Google My Business - Setting up a Google My Business profile is free and very easy to do. Just Google "set up Google my business" and you'll be guided through the process. All you do is to add some basic information about your company, such as your location, contact details, etc.

Planning your content - This is all about knowing what you are going to write. Dedicate 20-30 mins at the end of each month to decide what you are going to blog about the following month.
Outlining your blog content - Pick your topics and have an hour or so at the beginning of the month when you sit down and work out what you are going to cover in the blog post. If you have the time and know-how to do it, it’s worth doing some SEO research as you can then decide what angle to take in the blog post.
Drafting your blog content - Draft all the blog posts at the same time or as many as you can in the time you have - this is called batching your content and can really save time. The key here is not to worry about spelling and grammar - editing comes later on.
Editing blog posts - Sara tends to 3 rounds of editing (however she is a professional doing it as a paid job), but if you are doing your own you probably don’t need to do this much. Install something like Grammarly which is free and it’s great. It can help you with spelling and grammar. It works on whatever platform you are using (Wordpress, Google docs, etc). We also mentioned Hemingway.
Polish your blog post - This step is often skipped but is important - this is about the formatting and the way your blog post looks. People don't read every single word that we write - they scroll and skim through content, so it is important that the blogs are formatted correctly.
Whilst long-form content is fab, don't feel that you need to write really long posts. You can start with shorter ones and answer your potential clients/ customers questions - that is a good place to start.

The differences between a PA, EA, and VA - The Virtual Assistant (VA) title is a bit generic as it doesn’t actually describe their skillset. There are many different types of VAs but they don’t always highlight their key specialisms and experiences.
How can a VA help your business? - VAs can help you with a huge range of tasks. These include diary management, social media, organising meetings, competitor research, content creation, proofreading, organising events and much more. I wrote a post a while ago with more info on this: why hiring a VA is great for business. Louisa suggests setting aside some time to log everything that you do in your home and business life and make a note as to how long it takes you to complete the task. Then review what you are doing and how long it takes and whether you can outsource that to someone else (or whether you even need to be doing it in the first place!)
How do you find a good VA and the right one for what you need? - When trying to find the right VA, have a conversation with a few and see who you connect well with and their approach and how they would tackle the tasks that you will give them.
What should you pay a VA? - The standard rate is about £25-£30 an hour, though there are people that charge more, especially those with more experience. You get what you pay for to a point but for me, it’s not about the hourly rate it's the value that they bring.
Louisa’s offering as a VA - Louisa has a VA business which is a one-stop-shop with a team of associates that help her and her clients with creative, technical, and strategic consulting - reviewing processes and inefficiencies. She is also a LinkedIn Mentor. She really understands how to use it properly and effectively and she now shares that insight with others through 1:1 training. Louisa loves LinkedIn and gets loads of traction - one of her recent posts got over 350 comments. Wow, that is a lot of liking and responding to comments!
