Poveglia is an 18 acre island in the Venice, Italy lagoon that has seen its fair share of tragedy. First appearing in historical record in 421, the original inhabitants were forced off to make the island a fort during war in 1379. After sitting abandoned for over 200 years, the next 100 years the island was a plague colony that saw thousands of deaths then a state mental hospital in the 1920s until 1960s run by an insane doctor that killed himself after performing unspeakable acts on patients. The abandoned island now lays rotting away while haunted by the spirits of the damned.

Lake Lanier is located in Georgia near the city of Cumming in Forsyth County. The Children of God, founded in 1968 by leader David Berg, started out with good intentions, but grew more sinister and perverse as Berg rose to power. Sexual abuse against children was systemic as well as physical abuse and isolation from the outside world. Centralia, Pennsylvania is the site of a coal fire that has been burning underground since 1962 which led to the town being abandoned in 1984. The fires are still burning and will be for the next 200+ years. The "Well to Hell" was originally an urban legend started in 1989 from a false recording that was said to be from a hole in Russia that was drilled to the literal depths of hell. No one was able to identify their assailant but a sack over the head with cut out holes and about 6 ft tall. The Phantom Killer as he was known was never identified and to this day remains a mystery.
