The Kingdom of God with Dr. Peter Hammond & Justin Ford
The word Church occurs only three times in the Gospels. Yet the terms Kingdom and Kingdom of God occur over 120 times in the Gospels. The overwhelming emphasis of the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ was a Kingdom message. We read that our Lord Jesus Christ preached the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, yet today it is generally the Gospel of Salvation which is preached.
The Gospel of Salvation, as preached in all too many churches and through much of the mainstream Christian media is mostly about me and how I can be blessed, healed, prospered, enriched, improved, saved from all the negative consequences of my bad choices and ultimately end up in Heaven.
The way the gospel is preached by all too many today, is something of a therapeutic self-help message where the emphasis is on me, with God playing a supporting role in how I can fulfill my dreams and attain my desires. However, the Gospel of the Kingdom of God is all about the King of kings and the Lord of lords. His Crown, His Coming, His Cross, His Great Commission, His plan and purpose for the nations and what we can do to be faithful subjects, servants and soldiers of His eternal Kingdom.
“But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

Legendary South African soldier, Jan Breytenbach fought the good fight, kept the Faith and now has finished his race.
On Father's Day, Sunday,16 June, at the age of 91, the father of South African Special Forces went to be with his Heavenly Father and has been called by his Commander in Chief to Higher Service.
Jan Breytenbach had a distinguished career in the SADF.
Colonel Breytenbach not only founded the South African Special Forces (the Reconnaissance Commandos, or “Recces”) and 44 Parachute Brigade, but 32 Battalion as well. We praise God for a life well lived, for a courageous Christian soldier who made vital contributions to the development of the South African Defence Force and who played a major role in bringing about the defeat of the Soviet led communist forces in Angola.
In doing so he greatly contributed to the defeat of the Soviet Union and the winning of the Cold War.
Colonel Breytenbach was a good friend of the Mission and an energetic and enthusiastic witness for Christ.

Pastor Anthony Stander recounts his training, selection, and service as a member of the elite 1 Parachute Battalion in the South African Defence Force (SADF) during the early 80s, at the height of the South African ‘bush war’ in Southwest Africa and Angola.
The 'Parabats', as they were known, have been described as 'experts at foot work and small-war tactics.'
Anthony describes not only the day-to-day counterinsurgency operations of tracking and destroying SWAPO guerrillas, but also his experiences during the large SADF operations against Communist forces in Angola, such as Operation Carnation, Operation Protea and Operation Daisy.
In the written version of your testimony —Prison Break — you compare your teenage self to an out-of-control train, you even quote the following dramatic verses from the 1890 poem The Clattering Train (Death and his brother sleep):“Who is in charge of the clattering train?

Over the years I have discovered shocking facts from military and historic sources on the incredible life and intriguing conspiracy to assassinate U.S. Army General George Patton.
U.S. Army General George S. Patton distinguished himself early on as a world class athlete and as leader of men after being admitted to the elite West Point Academy. His youthful achievements were followed by a brilliant career as an officer, which culminated as commander of the U.S. Third Army in World War Two, during which he was recognised as the most ferocious General on the Allied side. He was known as the man who had never lost a battle, the hero of North Africa and Sicily.
Why then, would the U.S. government conspire to assassinate its top military leader?
Could it have been because General George Patton accurately assessed the shift in the balance of world power which World War Two had produced, and foresaw the enormous danger of communist aggression against the West. General Patton recognized the danger posed by the Soviet Union, which he identified as the real enemy, and he disagreed bitterly with the orders he had been given to hold back his army and wait for the Red Army to occupy vast stretches of Europe. With 18 divisions and more than half a million men, the Third Army was the largest U.S. fighting force in history. Patton was convinced that he could have freed all of Eastern Europe, if Eisenhower had not halted his supplies and fuel. Alone among U.S. leaders, General George Patton warned that America should act immediately, while her supremacy was unchallenged, to end the communist threat. Unfortunately, his warning went unheeded and he was quickly silenced by a convenient “accident” which took his life.

All of us, at one time, or another, have been guilty of gossip. Yet, it is sin. God takes gossip seriously. The Ninth Commandment is there for a very good reason.
The Bible says that: "Whoever spreads slander is a fool…" Proverbs 10:18. We are commanded: "Brothers, do not slander one another" James 4:11.
Pastors are to "remind the people …to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate and to show true humility towards all men." Titus 3:1-2. To spread stories that put someone else in a bad light is the very opposite to being “peaceable and considerate.” It is also the very opposite of humility.
Pride often is the engine which drives the gossip industry. It is a desire to portray people better than us in a bad light, to lift ourselves up by pulling others down. "Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and deceit, hypocrisy, envy and slander of every kind." 1 Peter 2:1. Slander is inextricably linked with malice, deceit, hypocrisy and envy.
The Bible warns us of those who "get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things they ought not to" 1 Thessalonians 5:13.
"We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies." 2 Thessalonians 3:11. "In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle…" 2 Thessalonians 3:6.

There is much we can learn from the recent backlash by consumers leading to catastrophic declines in income for Target, one of the largest chain stores in America which, after launching trans gender clothing for children and even babies, in just one week, lost more than $9 Billion in corporate value on the stock exchange. After launching a very woke advert for their brand, Bud light is facing such a boycott from alienated customers, that they have been reduced to actually offering crates of their beer for free and are even still being rejected by consumers. After offering massive discounts, but light is not being offered free, but consumers are still not interested. Since provoking a massive backlash against their woke policies and repeated insertion of LGBTQ+ themes and radical political agenda in an increasingly failing series of films and events at their resorts Disney, once one of the most successful family entertainment producers has had to lay off more than 7500 workers. After employing a transgender man to model their women’s sportswear, Nike also discovered that those who go woke, go broke! Pres Vladimir Putin recently observed that Russia had already been there: the Bolshevik revolution of 1917 introduced cancel culture, destroying monuments, removing teachers, professors and pastors, renaming streets and buildings, as a preparation for political and cultural revolution. Those who seek to eradicate your religion, history and heritage, plan to enslave you, control you and will ultimately seek to exterminate you. The Soviet Union also waged war against history, Christianity and against the family. They distorted gender roles and conscripted women into the Red army. Ultimately, cancel culture is a war against Christian civilisation, a war against God Himself. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7.
From the Frontline: the Power of Pentecost
28 May is Pentecost Sunday. What is the significance of Pentecost? How is Pentecost Sunday relevant to the church today? What does the Bible teach concerning Spiritual warfare and spiritual weapons? What are we as Christians called to do when confronted by so much evil in the world today? We need Christians endued with supernatural power to win the spiritual war at present raging (Acts 1:8). There are far too many of our friends, families and churches that are being undermined, chained and crippled by the forces of evil (2 Corinthians 4:4). The time has come to rise up and go out in the power of God’s Spirit and annihilate wickedness and worldliness. We must set the prisoners free (Isaiah 61:1). We must win the victory (Romans 8:37). We must win our world for Jesus (1 John 5:4) and in the power of the Holy Spirit and in the Name of Jesus we shall, we must, we will prevail. In order to set free the prisoners of sin and satan the Lord has given believers power to bind evil (Matthew 12:19). We can restrict, limit and oppose the powers of rebellion, doubt, unbelief, sin, perversion, slavery and hatred (Matthew 18:18). We have power to overcome the gates of hell, to storm the very strongholds of evil (Matthew 16:18-19) and to set the prisoners free (Luke 11:22). To announce liberty to the captives (Luke 4:18). Even the demons must obey us when we give them a command in Jesus Name (Luke 10:17; Acts 16:18; Mark 16:17). This is because, as we place ourselves in submission to the power of God, we are able to resist the lesser power of the enemy (James 4:7).

what is going on in Sudan? There are reports of renewed fighting in the capital city of Khartoum, foreign embassies are scrambling to evacuate their citizens from the embattled country. After several years of peace, there were hopes that years of war were over for Sudan. What happened? What has led to this new escalation of conflict in this North African country? Why are the factions which have worked together for number of years now in open conflict? What can we learn from recent history in Sudan? Is there any outside interference at work in this conflict?

Last week we received guests from Kenya. A film crew from Africa Speaks had driven down, overland, from Nairobi. The film producer, Gathuku, told us that he was part of the Great Commission conference I spoke at, in 2000 at Kenyatta University. He had also been part of a conference I spoke at, in 2016 at Kabarak University. He had received my book the Greatest Century of Missions at that event. He had since helped launch Africa Speaks as a network of publishing professionals united to establish a viable and flourishing Christian publishing industry throughout Africa. We discussed many important aspects of Christian literature and how to fulfil the Great Commission throughout Africa.

From the Frontline: Life, Logic and Love
The sanctity of life is an essential article of the Christian Faith. Life begins at conception. If the absence of a brain wave is considered a sign of death, why then is the presence of this brain wave not accepted as a sign of life? Every abortion stops a beating heart. What kind of convoluted logic and mental gymnastics can interpret the "Right of Life" clause in the Constitution to protect guilty murderers from execution, but not prevent innocent babies from receiving the death penalty through abortion? The heart of Christianity is love. Love for God and love for our neighbour (Mark 12:30-31). The golden rule by which all believers must live is:
"In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you . . ."

40 years ago we launched our first cross-border mission into a Restricted Access Area: Mozambique, which at that time was a war torn communist country where missionaries were prohibited. On Christmas Eve in 1914, the singing of Silent Night led to a spontaneous ceasefire that was observed throughout the whole of the Western Front. Reports of The Christmas Truce, which brought hostilities on both the Western and Eastern Fronts to an extraordinary halt, were suppressed and denied for many years. But eye-witness testimonies and photographic evidence reveal the extraordinary depth and extent of that Celebration of the Birth of Christ which brought a brief oasis of sanity in the midst of one of the most dreadful and destructive wars in all of history.

We are in a spiritual world war. Cruelty to animals, vandalism and murders occur with far greater frequency during Halloween. Every Halloween many thousands of animals and even people, are sacrificed in satanic rituals worldwide, while millions of other people, including well-meaning Christians, participate in Halloween celebrations. Halloween is a prime recruiting time for witches and Satanists. Many people have testified that they were introduced to the occult at a Halloween party. Halloween is very religious, but it is not Christian. Instead of participating in paganism, walking with Wicca, being in harmony with Halloween, having our children celebrate cruelty and dabbling in a day of death, we should focus our family and congregation on celebrating the Reformation.

This Friday, 9 July, marks a monumental answer to prayer as South Sudanese celebrate the 10th anniversary of their successful struggle for self-determination and secession from the Arab North. It was a major victory against the oppressive Sharia Law of the National Islamic Front government of Sudan. 9 July, in South Sudan, marks a date with destiny. It celebrates the culminative result of many years of intensive prayer, worldwide publicity, international pressure and missionary partnership with courageous persecuted Christians in South Sudan and the Nuba Mountains. The longest war, in the largest country, was concluded with an independent and free South Sudan which separated approximately one third of Sudan’s land surface into a new and independent state on 9 July 2011. How did this come about? What can we learn from how South Sudan became the 55th country in Africa and the 196th country in the world, the newest country to be internationally recognized?

Sixty-seven countries of the world severely restrict and persecute Christians. Over 400 million Christians live under governments which severely restrict their religious freedom and persecute believers. Many of the countries in the 10-40 window are restricted access areas where missions are effectively illegal. How can we effectively fulfil the great commission in a time of increasing travel restrictions where governments forbid evangelism, or ban Bibles? What technologies are available to us to help reach people in closed countries and restricted access areas?

From the Frontline: To Vax or Not to Vax, That is the Question?
Many have asked for a balanced and Biblical response to the issue of mandatory vaccinations, particularly in the light of the declared pandemic. Truth does not fear investigation. Yet, there are many who are promoting the vaccination who are supressing and censoring words of warning and caution from medical professionals such as bacteriologists and virologists. Documentary films such as Plandemic 2 are deleted and groups publishing investigations into the vaccination find themselves de-platformed. It is also concerning that many of these vaccine producers have invested billions of dollars in lobbying legislators to indemnify them against liability for injuries and deaths, caused by their vaccines! There are also the conflicts of interests when the same eugenicists campaigning for drastic depopulation are promoting vaccinations (which are meant to extend one’s life expectancy)! There is something strange about a virus so dangerous you need to be tested to know that you have it and vaccinations so safe that it has to be made mandatory!

30 Years ago, Africa Christian Action (ACA) was launched. From the very beginning, Africa Christian Action has been mobilising pro-life, pro-family moral initiatives. ACA has been in the frontline of the fight for Faith, family and the future. Marches for Life, Life Chains, Mission in the Mall, Women’s Day outreaches, submissions to parliament, radio ministry, literature distribution, book publishing and much more. This year, the 1st February 2021, marks the 24th anniversary of the legalisation of abortion on demand in South Africa. ACA has been organising marches for life to parliament on the anniversary of that tragic event ever since. This year, the authorities inform us that under lockdown level 3 restrictions, our planned March for Life is prohibited. How should we as pro-life Christians respond?

2020 has been an extraordinary year. Over 3 billion people worldwide were placed on Lockdown because of the predictions and prescriptions of experts. Did time prove the expert’s projections right or wrong? Was their cure worse than the disease? Who defines what makes an expert? What is the track record of these experts? Where do these fact-checkers, or fact-selectors come from? To what extent are they checking facts, or are they actually fact-blockers, censors and manipulators? How can we discern truth from error? What can we learn from history? What can we learn from the Bible?

From the Frontline: Can We Trust the Textbooks?
Education has become a battleground. Anyone who believes that education can be neutral is mistaken. Ideas have consequences. Actions flow from thought patterns. How reliable are the textbooks in most schools? Should government be controlling educational institutions? Who should be responsible for the education of the next generation? Can we trust what we see and read in museums? Are historians all in agreement on what is most important and on the lessons to be learned from history? Have the experts always proved to be right? What about films which purport to be “based on a true story”? or “inspired by real events”? How can we distinguish between real history and fake history? What resources are available to help us to ensure that our children receive real education and not secular humanist indoctrination?

There is so much that we can learn from the Persecuted Church. Yes, they do need our prayers and support, but we also need to remember that these precious brothers and sisters in Christ who have gone through the fires of tribulation have much to teach us. What is the situation today? How many countries severely restrict, or persecute believers? How many Christians in the world are living under persecution today? What are some of the lessons we can learn from those who have suffered for the Faith? What books and films can help us to learn from the Persecuted? Where can we receive updates on the struggles and answers to prayer from the Persecuted? What can we practically do to help those who are being persecuted for their Faith?

From the Frontline: American Elections and Foreign Policy Affects the Persecuted Church
As Americans approach their 2020 Elections, next week, few may be considering its implications for the persecuted Church. Yet recent history reveals that the lives of many millions of Christians are drastically affected by United States foreign policy. As a missionary to the persecuted in Africa for over 38 years, I have seen first-hand the, often, disastrous consequences of White House policies. We continue to pray that our Christian brethren in the United States will be in much prayer and seek the wisdom of God as they approach this critical election.

From the Frontline: Can You Trust the Media?
On a daily basis people not only receive information from the news media, but are being influenced. To what extent are we receiving views rather than news? How can we distinguish between facts, fashion and fiction? How can we recognise bias in the media? What are the various worldviews which lie behind the media we are exposed to? What are the practical implications of these worldviews as seen in news reporting? There seems to be many vitally important issues and events which do not receive any coverage from the media. Why is that? How can we be more careful and critical in what we read or view? How can we become more discerning in the sources we trust and the resources we make use of?

From the Frontline: Can You Trust the Government?
From so many directions, we are urged to trust the government. Not only for our physical security, but with the education of our children, with our physical health, on medical and scientific issues and in economics. Under the lockdown, we were expected to trust the government’s understanding of medical science and not question the severe disruption, suffocation and in many cases, destruction, of millions of jobs and our livelihoods. We were told to trust them with the billions of dollars in Covid Relief Solidarity Fund, which was swallowed up by corruption. On a regular basis, we are expected to trust the government with the moulding of the minds of our children through the textbooks and teachers that they control. Ben Carson observed that we have been conditioned to think that politicians are the solutions to our problems when, historically, they are the problem! Are governments trustworthy? What does history teach us? What does the Bible teach us, concerning the legitimate role of government? What books and documentary resources can help us understand the dangers of government and the Biblical limitations that should be restricting government?

Malice Against Ministries
Sadly, there are many who appear to have a ministry of criticism. The Bible warns us of those who "get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things they ought not to." 1 Thessalonians 5:13. Why are there such an abundance of negative reports against ministers, ministries and missions? What does the Bible teach concerning gossip and slander? How should we as Christians respond to character assassination? How can we understand what is behind these campaigns? What can we do to help those who are targeted?

Why Communists Strive to Rename Cities and Streets
The announcement, on Heritage Day, by the ANC president that they planned to rename cities and remove historic monuments from the “colonial” past, raises the question: Why should a government mired in corruption scandals be so concerned to waste time and money changing the names of cities and streets? What possible motive could a government for wanting to promote the Cancel Culture obsession with rewriting history? Do we have any examples in history of other governments striving to change the names of cities and streets and removing monuments? Why are historic monuments important? How should we, as Christians, respond to such agendas? What resources are available to help us understand the battle over history, the importance of monuments and the communist agenda to break down “every tie of blood, soil, nation, race, religion and allegiance?”

When Ministries are Hijacked
It is distressing to hear negative reports about ministries, missions and churches, which once were such powerhouses for the fulfilment of the Great Commission. There are many warnings in Scripture against false prophets, false teachers and false shepherds. What is happening to so many denominations worldwide? Why do churches split? To what extent are we dealing with important doctrinal issues and how often is it not personality clashes, ambitions, greed and envy, behind the schisms? What can we learn from the Bible concerning ministries which go off the rails? What can we learn from history? What can we practically do in our time, to preserve the legacy and effectiveness of faithful ministries? How can we be more effective stewards of the precious resources that have been entrusted to us?

Identifying the Agenda Behind Saturation Media Coverage
Why is it that some issues and events receive 24/7 saturation media focus, while other vastly more important issues, seem to be glossed over, or ignored? Are we merely dealing with isolated cases of selective outrage, or is there an agenda? Are media headlines random? Or can we discern a pattern? Why are some posts and interviews deleted, de-platformed and scrubbed from the internet? Is there censorship of opinions on major internet platforms? How independent are our newspapers and TV stations? Who owns the main stream media? Who determines what is focussed on and what new items get spiked, shelved, or vapourised? How much of the big stories focussed on in wall to wall saturation media coverage are actually distractions from the really important issues? What really was the story behind the Click bad hair day? Can shampoo be used as a smoke screen? Where can we find unbiased and balanced news sources? How can we discern between news and views? Information or disinformation?

George Orwell warned in his 1984 Novel, that governments tend to abuse language to make theft and murder sound respectable. Seldom before in history can language have been so subverted in education, entertainment, the news media and particular in politics so as to promote more confusion and disinformation than communication.How did power failure black outs become “load shedding”?
How did violent terrorism become “protests”?
How did malicious damage to property, looting and arson become “freedom of expression”?

How Propaganda Changes Perceptions and People
The first casualty in war is truth. It should be obvious that we are involved in a world war of worldviews. The violence on the streets is the inevitable result of decades of disinformation in media, decadence in entertainment and indoctrination in schools and on university campuses.

UN Deception Operation Targets Africa for Abortion
Just as George Orwell’s dystopian 1984 novel describes the Ministry of Truth as dealing in lies, disinformation and propaganda, the Ministry of Peace waging war, the Ministry of Love engaging in torture and the Ministry of Plenty dealing with rationing and ensuring shortages and starvation, the recent U.N. Disinformation and Distortion propaganda is a classic of Newspeak Double Think disinformation and inverted reality.

EFFECTIVE EVANGELISM in a TIME of LOCKDOWN LUNACY
Last week, we mobilised a city wide evangelistic campaign which included displays and contact tables in four shopping malls and mass literature distribution at traffic lights, in parks and on the streets of Cape Town. Inevitably there were some attempts to disrupt our outreaches, however, the responses were overwhelmingly positive. We mobilised 57 volunteers in 6 teams to conduct outreaches in 8 areas of Cape Town, collectively distributing over 14,000 Gospel booklets, leaflets, New Testaments and Bibles. We had the joy of counselling and praying with a number of responsive people and were encouraged by those who said that this initiative had inspired them to organise their own outreaches. What can we learn from this experience and how can we be effective in fulfilling the Great Commission in a time of unprecedented restrictions and state interference in church activities?

Weaponising Words in the World War of Worldviews Today, we seem to be involved in a world war of worldviews and in this war, words are weapons. Terminology can be toxic. How consistent is the conversation? Is there a double-standard in the popular narrative? How can we understand the political debate raging on the news reports and in the streets today? Can we take at face value what political activists are saying? What they are saying and what they mean, doesn’t always seem to be the same thing, does it? How can we understand the underlying philosophies and world views behind many, apparently innocent, comments? How can we translate the terminology that all too often seems toxic? If words have become weaponised, what can we learn from the worldviews of destruction? What does the Bible say about words, communication and conversation? Are there resources that can help us to unravel the rhetoric and decipher the debate?

The BATTLE for the MIND in the NEWS MEDIA
Every day we are influenced by media. Whether through posters, billboards, social media, newspapers, TV, Twitter, Facebook, or a host of other media, which often gives us views instead of just news. While claiming to be neutral, newspaper journalists and TV presenters often report the news from an anti-Christian point of view. At one time, especially in the 19th century, most leading newspapers were Christian. However, there has been a major shift in the news media on what is covered and how it is covered. Instead of the wide-angle lens of context, all too often, the zoom lens of selective focus has predominated. Is there an agenda? Or are we dealing merely with bias and prejudice?

40 Years Ago – The Grahamstown Evangelistic Mission
40 Years ago, I organised one of the largest Evangelistic crusades to ever be held in a military base. This extraordinary event, the Grahamstown Evangelistic Mission grew out of the daily Bible study and Prayer group that I ran in the 6th South African Infantry Battalion. The events that led to this major event, were a series of incredible answers to prayer. The results continue to have ripple effects throughout mission fields worldwide. What was involved in the Grahamstown Evangelistic Mission? How did it come about? What were the obstacles that needed to be overcome? Who was invited as guest speakers and musicians for this event? What preparation needed to be done? What follow up was planned? What was the cost of this event? In what way did the Grahamstown Evangelistic Mission lead to the founding of Frontline Fellowship and its ongoing mission? What can we learn from this event? Is it possible for such Evangelistic events to be organised today?

Essentials for Education
Recent surveys in the USA report that 40% of parents with school aged children are now considering home education. This is not only due to the Lockdown, but in response to a seemingly never-ending stream of shocks and scandals coming out of public schools which call into question their effectiveness, their philosophy and the very real damage being done to young people in these schools.
My wife, Lenora, was trained as a school teacher, yet chose to home educate our four children. My eldest daughter, Andrea, experienced four years in a public school before we began home schooling. Her SAT scores earned her a scholarship to Arizona Christian University, where she graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Journalism and English. Now she is a mother of two young boys and committed to home education.
How did their experiences lead them to the conclusion that home education is most effective and beneficial for our children? What resources are available for parents wanting to home educate their children? What lessons can be learned from those who have gone before us? What does one need to do to get started? What help is available to a family committed to home education?

When Disaster Struck! - African Penguin Rescue
20 Years ago, on 23 June, 2000, the Chinese bulk ore carrier MV Treasure sank off the coast of South Africa, in Table Bay, endangering the largest colonies of African penguins in the world with over 1,300 tonnes of bunker oil. How did this disaster occur? What was at stake? How did Capetonians respond to this, the greatest ecological disaster to ever hit our shores? Who are SANCCOB? Who responded to their calls for help? What were some of the challenges that needed to be overcome? What lessons can we learn from this historic ecological disaster and the monumental efforts by volunteers to rescue over 40,000 penguins, clean up the beaches and rehabilitate those who had been oiled?

The Untold Story Behind the Soweto Riots 16 June 1976 Tomorrow, 16 June, is a Public Holiday, Youth Day, in honour of the Soweto youth Uprising of 16 June 1976. Much mythology has arisen. However, most are not aware of what really happened, before, during and after that dreadful day. At this time, with riots, looting and arson tearing apart many cities in the USA, the experiences and insights of Christians in South Africa 44 years ago, may come at a most opportune time.
Friends of mine, Patrick Johnson, who pioneered and authored Operation World, (the first edition of which was actually printed by Dorothea Mission) and Tom Barlow, who co-authored with me, South Africa – Renaissance or Reformation? was a missionary of the Dorothea Mission at that time. The book Soweto… But God! was published by the Dorothea Mission, which was embedded in Soweto. Their first hand, eyewitness insights to this pivotal event in the history of Southern Africa, are unique. This was not written by journalists from the outside, but by Christian missionaries with a lifetime of dedicated service to the very communities which were torn apart by revolutionary violence. The targeting of Christians and burning of churches and the homes of ministers of the Gospel was not reported in the secular media. Nor was the targeting of Christian parents in Soweto and the radicalisation of the youth.

Is Black Lives Matter a New Religious Cult?
Black Lives Matter and Antifa have been in the forefront of the violent riots causing colossal devastation across 145 cities in the United States of America. What does Black Lives Matter stand for? What are their origins? What is their agenda? Where do they stand on critical issues such as the family, economics, crime and punishment, government and education? What practical solutions do they offer? What is their track record? What is the fruit of their movement? How should Christians respond to their demand to kneel to them and ask for forgiveness from them and repeat their slogan?

Racism, Riots and the Role of the Media
In this last week, we have been subjected to mass media 24/7 hyper-focus on a horrifying incident in Minnesota and the wide spread protests, riots and looting that followed. Apparently devastating riots and widespread looting have been reported in 145 cities and towns in the Unites States of America alone, in the last week. Is this really spontaneous? Or is there evidence of orchestration behind the scenes? What role does the mass media play in fanning the flames and pouring fuel on the fire of popular discontent? What causes police brutality? Why does the mass media select certain incidents and ignore so many others which are frequently even worse? What are the dangers of Trial by Media? What is behind the popular mass-media narrative of victimisation? How can we know whether what we are being told is true, partially true, or completely false? What sources are reliable? What sources are suspect? What does the Bible teach on these matters? What can we practically do to bring understanding, healing, grace and justice into this situation?

The Ascension Deals with Authority
Why are so many things going wrong? Foundational truths have been ignored and vital pillars of Christian civilisation have been eroded. What we are seeing today are the inevitable out-workings of false doctrines being introduced, tolerated, accepted, and in many cases, even celebrated. Ascension Day points us to the solution to all these problems. The Ascension deals with Authority. It is absolutely vital that we include the Missing Pillars of the Faith: Ascension Day and Pentecost Sunday in our Christian calendar. This is what is all too often missing. 40 Days after Resurrection Sunday, we should celebrate the Ascension of Christ into Heaven. He is alive forevermore and He is exalted and enthroned at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. He is above every other name and authority in Heaven and on earth. Jesus Christ is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. We have an Advocate in Heaven. He hears our prayers. He will crush all His enemies. He will come again. Therefore we must go and make disciples of all nations.

REVOLUTIONARY GOALS Advanced by LOCKDOWN REGULATIONS
National lockdowns are, in many cases, proving to be pretexts for establishing centrally-planned socialist economies involving strategies to classify and control industry sectors and individual businesses. In many cases this classification is not based on infection risk. Central planning straight out of the Soviet politburo is determining what goods and services ought to be produced, how they ought to be produced, by whom and how much of them ought to be produced. As in the Soviet Union, everyone is being required to obtain state permission to operate, to work, to trade, to travel and to do all the things which were taken for granted in a free society. And that permission, along with all personal freedoms, can be rescinded on the mere suspicion of a bureaucrat.
To what extent do the lockdown regulations conform with the Marxist ideological agenda? What were the economic and social goals of Karl Marx? Should we be concerned at the heightened regulations and restrictions in the name of dealing with the coronavirus? This worldwide lockdown phenomenon is quite unprecedented. What model was used to implement this unprecedentedly intrusive lockdown on travel, work and even worship? Are there any books which could help us to understand the philosophy behind this phenomenon? What can we do to restore our societies to normality, revive our economies and renew our churches?

Biblical Economics and the Christian Work Ethic
During this time of economic shutdown, recession and depression, it is important for us to remember the Law of God. The Bible has much to say about economics. Most of our Lord's parables dealt with economic situations. What does the Bible teach about economics? What does the Bible teach about work? What Biblical principles should guide government? What does the Bible say about taxation? What are the legitimate roles of government? What may a government tax? What constitutes legitimate currency? What Biblical principles should guide a business? What Biblical principles should guide a family? How can we rebuild our economy after 40 days of economic stagnation and strangulation? What hope is there for the future?

Disagreement, Dissent and Discernment
It is a mark of a healthy society when freedom of thought, freedom of speech and freedom of conscience are respected and protected. One does not have to agree with someone, but one should respect the rights of others to have alternative convictions, without any fear of condemnation. Dissent can be healthy. Discernment is always necessary. Christian love does not demand conformity. It is a fruit of the Protestant Reformation to respect freedom of conscience. When Professor Martin Luther made his bold stand before the Emperor, declaring: "my conscience is captive to the Word of God…”, he championed the principles of freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, freedom of conscience, freedom of worship and all the other freedoms which have become the foundation of Christian civilisation. Yet, today, there is a disturbing tendency to demonise dissent. Political correctness and charges of "hate speech" are threatening freedom of speech and freedom of conscience. Historically, Magna Carta and bills of rights have protected the rights of the individual to disagree with the majority. Today, however, it is becoming increasingly difficult and even dangerous to go against the tyranny of the majority. How should we, as Christians, respond? What can we practically do to restore discernment and respect for dissent and disagreement?

GOD'S LAW or CHAOS
Yesterday, trucks loaded with food parcels for vulnerable communities were stoned and robbed in Cape Town’s Bonteheuwel. Lockdown has seen looting from shops and liquor stores, theft by police, vandalising and stealing from churches and trucks transporting food targeted. Yet while police have fined, beaten and arrested people for innocent activities like walking or exercising in their own neighbourhoods, many police stood idly by while food trucks were looted. What is the solution to this chaos ?

Understanding and Redeeming the Times
We will be discussing the momentous and world shaking events which Christians need to understand and respond to, in a Biblical and balanced way. What lessons should we learn from these dramatic developments? How serious is the coronavirus? How can we avoid contracting the disease? How can we prevent it spreading? How accurate have the mass media reports and predictions been? How trustworthy are the political authorities who are enforcing the Lockdowns and shutdowns of so much of the economy, daily life and Church activities? How effective have measures been worldwide? Are the measures taken consistent? Are the measures always necessary? What are the implications for individuals? Congregations? Communities? Countries? Economies? What are the implications for liberty? And for the Kingdom of God worldwide? What can we practically do to redeem the time?

Passover, the Passion and Pandemic Panic
We will be discussing how to celebrate Holy Week while in Lockdown. The main thing is to keep the main thing, the main thing. Jesus Christ is the King of kings and Lord of lords. His Great Commission must be our supreme ambition.
This Friday, 10 April, marks the solemn memorial of the worst crime in the history of mankind and the most important sacrifice ever made.
This Sunday, 12 April, marks the joyful celebration of the greatest victory over sin, death, hell, satan and the grave by the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead. It is vital, despite every restriction, to celebrate and boldly proclaim the life transforming Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ by every available means.
We serve a risen Saviour! Death is defeated. Christ has risen! Jesus Christ is the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in Christ, though he may die, yet shall he live (John 11:25).
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."
