We live in a culture that has increasingly become more focused on the "grind and hustle" Break-out-of-the-nine-to-five-and-make-millions mindset. A lot of people's reasons for this is wealth and freedom. This sounds super luxurious, and of course fun, but we should stop and ask ourselves, "What's our motive for this?" and "Should Christians live lives that pursue wealth?"
Is it okay for Christians to want wealth? Is it okay for Christians to even have wealth?
That's what we're talking about today.
Enjoy!

The idea of abusing God's grace is found in 2 Corinthians 6:1. The idea is that because God has reconciled us to Himself, and given us righteousness, we are not to take the grace of God in vain. Sweet Paul, sounds good, I won't... but what does that even mean? All in all, we think that it is treating God's love and forgiveness and the salvation he's given us lightly. The idea that sin doesn't need to be fought against cause "I'm forgiven" or that we can keep on sinning because we're in grace. Or, as Phil Hughes says: "for them to receive the grace of God in vain meant that their practice did not measure up to their profession as Christians, that their lives were so inconsistent as to constitute a denial of the logical implications of the gospel, namely, and in particular, that Christ died for them so that they might no longer live to themselves but to His glory” (218-19).”Here is a link to an article written by Sam Storms on the matter! https://www.samstorms.org/all-articles/post/receiving-the-grace-of-god-in-vain--2-cor--6:1-2-You are what you love: https://www.amazon.com/You-Are-What-Love-Spiritual/dp/158743380X

Furries are defined as "an enthusiast for animal characters with human characteristics, in particular a person who dresses up in costume as such a character or uses one as an avatar online." This seems harmless, however, when you dig into the history of Furries, look at Therians and Otherkin, it quickly becomes apparent that although not everything in the world of Furries is bad, there are some things we need to watch out for. We need to be thinking about this group of people more and more in today's culture because more and more kids are starting to take an interest in the Furry community. Furries may walk into our church, be your kids, or be friends with your kids and as Christians, we need to know to share the love of Jesus with them. Today we talk about the history of Furries, general concerns, if it's demonic, and advice for Christians and interacting with Furries. Enjoy!

Everyone agrees that struggles, going through hardship, suffering injustices, and even going through persecution is not something people want to happen to them. However, we know from the Bible that such things will happen, and Peter even goes so far as to say to not be surprised when these things happen! One question that we're looking at today is, "Do all struggles have sanctifying purposes or can some just lead to trauma with no redemption?" We need to address this question because how we think of this will affect how we endure and navigate struggles, trials, injustice, etc. We have a number of Bible verses we go through to examine this, as well as our own stories of how God has used our struggles for our growth! Enjoy!

Cessationism is the belief that the gifts of the Spirit (prophecy, speaking in tongues, words of knowledge, and others) ceased when the Apostles died. The idea is that the sign gifts were given for a short time to confirm the message of the Gospel, but that they fizzled out after the 12 disciples passed away.
Derry and I don't believe that this is the correct interpretation, nor that it's strongly backed by the Bible. However, we want to give it a fair chance, see what cessationist say and analyze their claims.
In this episode we look at Bible verses for and against, church history, and tell our own stories about seeing the powerful workings of God through miracles in our own lives.

With the election results in, people are experiencing waves of emotions ranging from excitement and hope to despair and rage. It is of utmost importance that we as Christians keep our witness safe in the coming weeks. How we respond to this election matters for how people see Christ and that is not a light thing. We need to keep the main things the main thing. Christ is King, and He rules eternally. Presidents are temporary and fickle, while God is permanent and unmoving. Our hope is in Christ and we are called to represent him regardless of who's in charge. In the coming weeks we will have every opportunity to either fall into pride or malice and hate, none are Godly. Today we talk about how to handle the election as a Christian and keep your witness.Enjoy!

In our faith journey, we will go through seasons of "dryness" when our spiritual life doesn't feel as vibrant as it was in past times. Early in your faith walk, these times can be scary, you even wonder if you're still a Christian or if God is close to you. Don't worry. Yes, these seasons can be confusing and even scary at times, but, they're completely normal.
We think that there are two main reasons that dry seasons happen. 1, God may be using them to grow you in your longevity in faith and not be reliant on feelings, or 2, perhaps theres an area in your spiritual life that you've been slacking on and it's causing you some disconnection.
We talk about this and more in todays episode!

Christianity has changed the world in tremendous ways from the very beginning of its inception. From the creation of the printing press, and thus increased education and therefore better economy, to the raising up of women and marginalized peoples in various capacities, it's hard to argue that Christianity has a negative effect on any nation it touches. Today we talk about those national and historical impacts of Christianity, but also the experiential reality the everyday believer has. Christian have hope in a world where others don't, we have joy because we know our purpose, and reason for being. We have peace because our shame and sins been forgiven. Being a Christian truly is the best. Enjoy!

Yes, we're back with another video exposing gnostic lies. There are so many lies in these viral videos that we could spend thousands of hours deeply going through all of them. However, we only have about an hour every week.Today we're responding to some video put out by a gnostic creator named Morgue who has around 250k followers on instagram and also a ton Youtube as well. A lot of his claims revolve around the church apparently lying, and Jesus' "true" identity being revealed, and that Jesus actually meant for all of us to realize that we are gods and divine and not that we're sinners who need to be forgiven by God through the sacrifice of Jesus. Enjoy!

Lately there have been a few viral reels critiquing charismatic/evangelical worship. Now, we're all for godly critique and accountability. What we're not for is acting like evangelicalism is riddled with tons and tons of bad worship. Again, bad worship is out there, but it's far out numbered by godly, holy, great worship. I think it's just easy to dunk on charismatic and evangelical worship and so people do, when in reality, there isn't as much wrong with it as people say. In this episode we respond to those reels mentioned above and defend worship and fight for unity among Christians. There's enough to deal with in the world, we don't need to also fight with each other about how we worship our Savior. Enjoy!

Evangelism is something that many people don't want to do, or don't feel confident doing. When we say this word images of street preachers pop up or uncomfortable conversations with strangers. Most times people are scared, but also they don't feel equipped or smart enough to engage in sharing their faith with people. So, how can we do evangelism where we are right now, without the awkwardness? Today we talk about sharing our faith with friends, family, and coworkers naturally. After watching this, we believe you'll be inspired, and excited to talk to people about Jesus! Enjoy!

Gnostic lies seem to get a lot of attention on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and pretty much every social media platform. They claim that people "left things out of the Bible" and that they're the source of how to find truth. The truth however, is as simple as they're making things up. All these texts that were left out of the Bible were left out for good reason - they're gnostic heresies or written too far away from the events of scripture to be relied upon. There's good real reason why Christians reject certain views, and it's not to keep control. Christians reject gnostic ideas because they don't align with truth and aren't why God revealed. In this episode, we respond to a few Gnostic videos that have gained attention and show you the truth of the claims. Enjoy!

Divine Command Theory is a broad belief that that morality comes from God's commands. God says don't murder, murder is wrong. God says do love each other, loving people is good. Pretty straight forward, but it does have some things that raise concerns.
What do we do if God used to command one thing, but now commands a different thing. Does that mean morality is changing? How does God decide what to command? There are number of different questions that come up and we try to ask as many as we can in this interview.

This is a fun question to ponder that actually matters a ton. Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses don't believe that Jesus is God, but they do believe that He died for their sins. For us, there are two questions that are raised when hearing this: 1. Why do you even need Jesus to die for your sins if you can do good works to enter heaven? and 2. How can Jesus' sacrifice apply to humanity if He isn't divine?
Ezekiel tells us that the righteousness of a righteous man will be upon himself. What we believe that means is that a person's righteousness can't be transported onto someone else. With this in mind, it shouldn't be possible that if Jesus was just a man, that his death would help us escape sin. It's possible that they would dismiss this verse and say that they read it differently, so we go into more philosophical arguments for it.
Enjoy!

There are some videos circulating around the internet claiming that "Jesus wasn't nice" and every so often these types of videos pop off. They tap into the part of a lot of men that feels aggressive and longs to be strong - which is good and we need to know that aggression innately isn't evil. But these takes often don't accurately express what maybe the communicator is trying to say. To say Jesus wasn't nice is like saying Jesus was an angry man. Both are wrong. Jesus is nice, yet he had times of appropriate anger. To be nice doesn't mean you're never bothered, or that you dismiss truth. But it seems, that's what people might have in mind when they make these videos. You can stand up for truth without compromising, confront evil, and be nice. They aren't exclusive to each other. Today we look at this idea that Jesus wasn't nice and compare it to scripture. Enjoy!

We don’t love making videos on politics but every now and then we need to. Recently a video of Charlie Kirk doing a Q&A went viral when he doubled down on his point that you cannot be a Christian and vote democrat. Now, this blanket statement has serious problems. A few being that he may adding to the gospel, putting prerequisites on salvation that Jesus doesn’t, and ultimately leading to more division that unity.
With that said, some points he makes are serious things Christians need to consider. Can we say we love Jesus and vote for obviously ungodly policies that promote evil practices? No we cannot. But both parties have policies that ultimately go in this direction. So, what do we do as Christians??
That’s what we are getting into on this episode!

Hebrews 6 is one of the most uncomfortable passages in the New Testament. It tells us that if people have tasted the goodness of the Lord and shared in the Holy Spirit, and then gone away, that it's impossible to renew them to repentance. That phrase has lead to many scratching their head, confused, and wondering if this contradicts the loving kindness of the Lord. Is Hebrews 6 talking about the unforgivable sin? Can I be a Christian if I back slide a bit when I was young? Something both of us on this podcast have done. So, are we not saved? Well, to help us answer these questions we invited on Jonathan Spainhour. He's been teaching the Bible now for over ten years, started his own Bible teaching ministry, and has helped thousands process hard questions through scripture. Enjoy!

It seems like everywhere you go, in any church you attend, you're likely to find people who have a problem with how we "do church". And that "we" is anyone in that setting that you find yourself. Whether it's super reformed, charismatic, baptist, or non-denominational (Not catholics and Orthodox though) people have ideas of how to make church "more like Acts". And that was a big trend pre-COVID and in COVID - house churches. House churches have been what many believe to be the right way to do church. But, there's problems with that too. So the big question is, what is the right way to do church? Is it seeker sensitive churches? Is it heavy theologically deep churches? Can we run around in worship and dance or should we remain respectfully and reverently quiet? Is there a right way to do this thing called church? In this epodes we have a great conversation with Pastor Jim Sheldon from Venture, California to discuss this! Enjoy!

The recent attempt to end former President Trump's life and the prophecy from a few months ago calling this almost verbatim has the internet in a frenzy. Shows from all over the political spectrum both Christian and non Christian are looking at this and asking, "Is this a true prophecy?", "Is Trump truly anointed by God to lead this nation?" and, "What does this mean for our nation?"We're releasing this emergency episode to discuss all of this from a cautious and Biblical perspective. We are not trying to come for Brandon Biggs and claim he's a false teacher, we're also not saying this is definitely God's leading. It seems to us, and to possibly a lot of people in at least America, that Christians believe conspiracies more than non-Christians. Or at the very least, that we can be more given to believe them. Some would say that because we believe in a God we can't see and we exercise faith in the super natural every day that we're easily fooled into believing anything. I don' think that's the case. I think the reason Christians maybe believe in conspiracies more than non-Christians is because we believe in a very real Devil who seriously wants to destroy humanity, and he'll do anything he can to that end AND that people in the real world are following Him to see the same. Dark, yes but I would say true as well, and we're not ones to shy away from truth! Today we are talking about this topic of conspiracies and looking at how Christians should engage with them healthily! Enjoy!

Robert Morris, Trumps Spiritual advisor has been in the news lately for an inappropriate relationship he had with a child 20 years ago. Unfortunately this tragic story is not unique in recent years among celebrity pastors. Robert Morris, Carl Lentz, Ravi Zacharias, and others have caused Christians and the name of Jesus shame through their actions of infidelity and power abuse. It's incredibly sad and something countless other pastors have tried to help others through. Today we're discussing a bit about this and also focusing on when should a pastor step down from the pulpit. We look at relationship to alcohol, adult content, anger problems, gossip, and others. While we want to extend the grace of God to everyone, there's a reason James says that not many of us should want to be leaders because they're held to a higher standard. Enjoy!

Manifestation, also known as the Law of Attraction, is a well known and fast growing spiritual practice backed by celebrities, self-help guru's, and social media influencers all over the world. Joey Dodson is a Christian author of a number of books, peer reviewed articles, and essays. He's a professor at Denver Seminary where he is also the Dr. Craig L. Blomberg Endowed Chair of New Testament which basically means he's super smart. Today Joey comes on to talk to us about his book "Conquerers, Not Captives" regarding Romans 7 and who the "wretch" is. Romans 7 is the famous passage where Paul says that the good he wants to do he doesn't do and the bad he doesn't want to do, he does. Many Christians including us at some point have looked to this verse to explain our struggle with sin. The problem though, as Joey and others have put forth, is that Romans 7 isn't a universal prescription of the Christian experience. It might not even be about Paul, or ANY Christian whatsoever actually. Joey believes Paul is talking about himself BEFORE he was a Christian because the surrounding passages say the EXACT opposite of "We are slave to sins." With this profound rereading of the text we realize that freedom is truly possible and that we can resist the enemy and we aren't doomed to repeat the same sins over and over and over!Enjoy!

Election is often understood as God's individuals sovereign choice of salvation of people. That God chooses individuals to become Christians and therefore also chooses people to not become Christians. Now, this obviously causes a lot of people to have harsh reactions either in favor of or against this view. It's been the center of debate for generations and probably still will be. Today Derry and I discuss this topic and offer a Biblically sound non Calvinist explanation of how to understand Election Enjoy!

Christians are called to stand up for the rights of others. We're also called to love our enemies. What is the line between doing good to those who hurt us as Jesus said and standing up against evil to save lives even if it requires violence? That is the topic we are discussing today! Enjoy!

Russell Brand dropped a video yesterday talking about his recent baptism which EVERYONE is talking about. One thing he repeatedly mentions is that people are fed up with looking for fulfillment and not finding it and that's causing tons of people to turn to Jesus and Christianity. Is Russell Brand recognizing things that the rest of us Christians maybe haven't caught onto yet? That being that people are coming to Jesus like mad everyone it seems! Are we seeing a revival? And did Russell Brand call it out without using those exact words? Enjoy!

The Complementarian vs. Egalitarian debate has caused untold amount of arguments and division in the Church throughout the years. Complementarian's believe that women have limited roles in Church leadership while Egalitarian's believe men and women can hold the same positions in Church leadership. There's more to it than that but that's the general idea. With that said, it's not surprising that this has been a contentious topic for many. Dr. Michelle Lee Barnewall wrote a book titled "Neither Complementarian nor Egalitarian: A Kingdom Corrective to the Evangelical Gender Debate" that helps us get back to the point of the Scriptures. She asks the question, "Is the Bible concerned with who can do what, or is it calling us to something even higher that requires more love and sacrifice? Enjoy!

Christian's have been known to believe some weird things like a donkey spoke in the Bible, a sea actually split down the middle to allow people to walk on dry ground all the way across, and that God can forgive sins through faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on the cross. Those are all true, by the way. However, there are some Christians who believe in more dogmatic and cultural things than what the Bible says and some times those beliefs get out of control. Lately, those people have come to be known as fundamentalist. Today we look at some of those weird belief and try to offer a better view. Enjoy!

It's no secret that he has been a strong advocate of Christ for the last few years with his Jesus is King album and Sunday services he put on. Today Derry and Ethan go over things claims, where he is making some good points, and ultimately what we can all learn from Kanye. Enjoy!

In a world filled with uncertainty and ever-changing circumstances, placing trust in people can often feel like navigating a minefield. But what if there's a steadfast source of trust beyond the fallibility of human nature? Today we talk about why trusting people can be a form of idolatry and why we need to and how to place our trust in God.
Derek Schoenhoff is a pastor, author, entrepreneur, and worldwide Bible teacher who has traveled to 99 countries and shared the truth of scripture and God with countless people. He joins us today to discuss trust in God, the dangers of trusting people, and how Christians can grow in trusting God.

The problem of evil has been a hotly debated and discussed topic between Christians and non-Christians forever. A lot of people refuse to be Christians because of it, and many Christians leave the faith because they can't find a satisfactory answer to this question. Today Derry and Ethan look at the book of Habakkuk to see what the Bible has to say about this topic. Habakkuk is the only prophetic book in the Bible that is not addressing a specific people group but is a conversation between God and Habakkuk as to why God has allowed Israel to go through a terrible time of political and religious corruption, abuse of the poor, violation of rights, and on top of all that - external military threats. Understandably Habakkuk is angry and wants answer. Let's see what God says to him.Enjoy!

Cessationism is a theological belief that teaches that the gifts of the spirit (Prophecy, healings, words of knowledge, tongues, etc.) have ceased. We know it's more nuanced than that but in general, that's what it is. This is problematic because there is no indication in Scripture that the gifts will cease before Jesus has His second coming. More than that, the Bible explicitly commands us to earnestly desire the gifts, ESPECIALLY prophecy. So, if people are teaching that the gifts stopped and we shouldn't go after them, then that's a direct contradiction to the Word of God. This is why it's dangerous. Today Derry and Ethan discuss this topic along with a concerning tweet from a well-known Cessationist teacher, Justin Peters. Enjoy!

What makes gender? Is it what parts you're born with? Is it what you feel inside? Or is it something fluid or static? Or is it something pop-culture hasn't expected?
The topic of LGB1Q and Tr@nsgenderism is a cultural moment for America and possibly even the world with a record number of individuals identifying with this community. It's essential to have and keep having grace-filled discussions on this topic as we navigate how Christians can talk with these people and understand from a Biblical and scientific stance all the intricacies involved.

The idea of Bible Codes is that the Old Testament Hebrew contains secret information in the text that can predict future events and tell you about your life and destiny. Seriously, that's what is claimed by these people. Those who defend Bible Codes love them because they think it helps prove the supernatural nature and truth of the Bible. Not that the Bible on plain reading has accurate prophecies about events or the Messiah or can lead to a fulfilling God-honoring supernatural life. No not that, Bible Codes! Today we debunk three short videos on Bible Codes and share the truth of God's character and the Bible. Enjoy! Got any questions or topics you’d like to hear about? Today we have Tiktok influencer Essie Lee on the show to discuss a TikTok she made about dying to self. This video sparked an enjoyable conversation about asking the question, "How am I to understand and relate to myself and die to myself?"
Should Christians reject their desires? If so, which ones? How do we know which ones to reject and receive?
We answer all these questions today on the Things You Don't Hear in Church podcast.
Enjoy!

Psalm 137:9 Says "Blessed shall he be who takes your little ones and dashes them against the rock!"
For obvious reasons this comes off disturbing on face value. Is God saying we should kill the children of our enemies? Are we to literally apply this? I thought Jesus said love your enemies?
All good thoughts! No, don't apply this, yes, love your enemies!
Today we dive into this topic with Randall Rouser: author, writer, theologian.

In recent times Biblical scholarship has become widely more accessible to the public, which overall is a good thing. However, with all good things come bad things as well. One of those bad things is that people think that just because a scholar or scholars believe something, then that becomes the absolute truth. Unfortunately, these same people might not realize that a lot of those scholars aren't Christian and don't consider the supernatural in their work.
Today we have on Pastor Taylor Sines to talk about how we can think about and interact with scholarship. We shouldn't throw it out but we do need to tread with intentionality as we proceed.
Enjoy!

Sharing the gospel is already pretty intimidating and nerve-racking for the typical Christian. Even more nerve-racking is when contentious and hot-button topics like politics or sexuality arise. How does the Christian share the love of Jesus with people of the LGBTQ community?
We are here to share what we think are some of the best ways to engage in respectful conversations on such hard topics.

From Proverbs to Paul we see discipline as a necessary tool we need for our Christian walk.
A lot of us hear discipline and think of something negative and we have to do rather than get to do. It might be good to reexamine discipline and look at it as a gift from God for freedom.

Ephesians 5 is a challenging chapter in the Bible because it calls us to have nothing to do with the evil deeds of darkness but to even expose them. So, what is an "Evil deed of Darkness"? Is it wrong to own a smartphone because it was made by slaves? Can I listen to music that glorifies sinful and sometimes demonic things? How far does this go?

Today we look at how Jesus seems to be uninterested in politics. When people come to Him, He doesn't decide whether He'll help or not based on what political side they're on, if they're the oppressors or the oppressed, or if they are right winged or left winged.
He simply receives everyone and calls them to follow Him and in following Him, people change their views.

Today we have "Christian Witch" Sarah Raztrasen on to share about her journey into witchcraft and answer some pressing questions we have regarding her view.
Now, in case this wasn't obvious, we don't see eye to eye with her on a lot but we think it's important to talk to people of different views and beliefs to understand. Too many times people make assumptions about each other or different parties/traditions and that leads to hatred and resentment. When we engage in conversation we see each other as humans made in the image of God and that allows for the opportunity to share truth and love with people we disagree with.

A lot of people accuse Christians of being hypocritical and not practicing what we preach. Now, there are a lot of reasons for that like people being people and in process. It's actually a funny thing to have your faith tradition be rooted in "I need help living this life" and then people saying we're hypocrites... Like yeah that's why we're here!
Anyway, today we sit down and look at how we can start to practice what we preach and be more like Jesus!

Jordan Peterson put together a multi-part series through the book of Exodus. He brings on different Christian and Jewish thinkers, including Dennis Prager, the founder of PragerU.His Jewish worldview, as he puts it, is a behavioralist worldview that only cares about the individual's actions, not the intents. Therefore, he thinks there is a justification for allowing people to watch adult films and self-pleasure themselves without it being sin. Humor is one of the greatest things we have as humans. It can help us heal, find joy again, bond with people, and so much more. However, it can also be weaponized and used to dismiss, belittle, and tear down people.
In our culture, memes have become the primary way people bond over comedy and enjoy humor. However, memes can also be used just like comedy to attack people.
Ephesians 5 commands us to not partake in crude humor and Ephesians 4 says to let everything that comes out of our mouth be for edification. Today we examine some Christian memes to see if they violate God’s divine command.

Revivals usually have distinctive markers that are observable that classify the thing that happened as a revival. It's too soon to say if this is a revival or not. It's definitely something that seems like God is moving, and it's no small thing, it's fantastic! We rejoice that God may be meeting people in beautiful ways, and we don't want to take away from that! We just think it may be a little presumptuous to call this a revival right now.

Dr. David Falk is a professional egyptologist who runs a youtube channel called "Ancient Egypt and the Bible". He joins us today to talk about the Exodus and if it really happened, when he thinks it happened, and why it all matters.Surprisingly, the issue of the exodus is incredibly contentious and triggering in the realm of scholarship. You have some scholars say it happened earlier around 1400 BC, other say around 1200 BC - which is the later date view, and some who even say it didn't happen at all. Part of the reason this is so volatile of a subject is that depending on what you choose to believe, there is a lot of fallout on how you receive the entire Old Testament pretty much. Rebellion is a tricky topic. The Bible says it's wrong, but how far does that go? If we are in a country with an evil and oppressive leader, are Christians supposed to submit to that? If our boss is abusive should we still submit to them because they're our leader? Should a woman submit to her husband even if her husband is evil and wants her and the kids to do evil things?

If you've never heard of Bayesian Analysis or don't know what it is, don't worry, Ethan didn't know what it was either. That's why we have this show!
Bayesian Analysis is a tool used to help measure the probability of any given thing. It can be used for simple problem-solving like "Who ate my pizza?" as well as more complex issues like "Is there a God?"
Today we learn from Exploring Reality what Bayesian Analysis is and how we can use it to make a case for belief in God, ie, Theism.

As information becomes more readily available in our times, so does access to Biblical scholarship. As people get into Biblical scholarship they are met with the often confronting facts that scholars seem to hold less than conservative views on scripture.
Christians who grew up hearing that the Bible has no contradictions may be shocked to learn that a good amount of Christian Scholars agree that the Bible does actually have contradictions. This is just one example of many that people come across.
So, in light of this reality, how do "lay Christians" understand the difference between conservative Christianity and what looks like a progressive scholarship? This is what we talk to Dr. Rauser about.

Dustin Rauser is a youth pastor and TikToker from California. He joins us today to talk about reaching Gen Z with the gospel and how the pandemic changed so much in the church, specifically youth groups.
Gen Z is a generation that craves true intimacy and community. God is ready to meet them in powerful ways and we believe he will. We as the older generation need to know this as it is our responsibility as older brothers and sisters in Christ to show them godliness through our lives. They are young, passionate, and ready for God to move.

Shia Lebeouf, Eminem, Matthew McConaughey, and other big-name celebrities seem to be coming back to Jesus. This could mean a number of things that we get into in this episode. Still, one thing is for sure - The shallow spirituality of "I'm not religious, I'm spiritual" jargon is showing its true colors of fake and nonfulfilling. Today we have Tiktok influencer John The Messenger on to discuss the nuances of Celebrity Pastors.
Many of us would like to blanket statement Celebrity Pastors as not beneficial, not Biblical, and other things. Maybe you think of Mark Driscoll who the Rise and Fall of Mars Hill focused on and think about abusive power structures. Or maybe you think of Hillsong: A Megachurch exposed and think about Celebrity Pastors as out of touch and given to sin from that power.
Now, as much as these things are true and should be looked out for, they're not unique to Celebrity Pastors. Not only that, but there are also really good celebrity pastors like Matt Chandler, Francis Chan, and others who haven't had moral failures and seem to be preaching the true gospel.
Today we get into all of that with John the Messenger.

A lot of us have experienced the anxiety that can come with talking to people about what we believe as we're scared it may cause people to not like us, they may have a bad opinion about us, or maybe we're just scared because it can be awkward.
It can be especially awkward when the person we're talking to doesn't even believe in God. So, how do we talk to Atheists? Today we have on Tiktoker Local Theistic Nuisance to share some good strategies on how to share our faith.

Aish Krishna used to be an Agnostic Pro-Choicer who through the means of open conversation and philosophy came to believe God exists, life is sacred, and that abortion is wrong.
Today we tackle THE STRONGEST pro-choice arguments and give a case for why abortion is not something we should advocate for nor celebrate. Though we may strongly believe that abortion is an evil act that must be stopped and repented for, we also want to show the love of Jesus to those who have had abortions. The majority of women who undergo this procedure regret the decision and deal with serious depression and guilt. If that's you, we want to let you know that God is real and that His love is real and that He will forgive you of that sin and heal your pain and redeem you. All you have to do is to repent of your sins, surrender to Jesus, and receive His forgiveness. This is one of the worst handlings of the Bible we've ever seen. This Tiktoker claims the Bible proves that YHWH is actually Satan through two verses that seem to contradict each other. 2 Samuel says God enticed David while 1 Chronicles says Satan enticed David. It's pretty obvious that Christianity is progressively becoming more and more offensive to the culture in America. Sometimes it's because Christians are acting like jerks, other times it's because naturally, our values are in stark opposition to the way the world is going.
When push comes to shove and we are forced to choose the culture or Jesus we will see who truly is following Jesus and who's not. We were promised by Jesus that this would happen. We need to be prepared to stand strong for what we believe.

A better way to put this, is does all worship from every religion, try to reach the same being/source? For example, Muslims worship a One being God, and so do Jews, and Christians. Is all this worship directed at Him and some not reach Him, or, do Jews and Muslims worship a totally different God?
This is what we discussed in today's episode!

"Hillsong: A Megachurch Exposed" is a docu-series on Discovery+ that explores the dark underbelly of one of the world's largest churches. Hillsong started in Australia and since then has expanded globally with 150,000 weekly attendants. In recent years, some appalling scandals and coverups have reflected terribly on the church. From Carl Lentz (Hillsong NYC pastor) cheating on his wife to Bryan Houston (Founder) covering up his father's child abuse to a completely unbiblical church order (at least at the NYC location).
In today's episode we ask "Why do these types of things seem to continue to happen and where do we go from here?"

Eternal Conscious Torment is the dominant view in the Church in recent history. Just like the other views it has biblical support and is the preferred view for most people. Whether this is because it is the most widely taught, and therefore we feel weird challenging it, or because people are convinced it is truly the most accurate view, it is one of the main three Biblically defendable views on Hell.

In the most conservative view, people claim the Bible has no errors in translation, word, or message based on it being God's word and therefore perfect and perfect meaning without error. They follow the logic of God cannot lie or make mistakes and therefore the Bible being God's word cannot lie or make mistake.
On the other side of the spectrum, you have more loose understandings of inerrancy. They might say the Bible is not consistent in message, it's not perfectly put together, it has some parts of it that aren't historically accurate, among other "errors" yet it is still the word of God and authoritative.
Today's episode is about those ideas and our thoughts about what inerrancy is and how much emphasis we should put on it.

Today we discuss what's more important, the Bible being inerrant (containing no errors in it at all) or the Bible being consistent in its message, "God is who He says He is." Joining us for this discussion is Seventh Day Adventist pastor, Jean Clouzet.

He has a following of 20.7k on Tiktok where his videos center around going through the Bible and being able to understand it. He is currently going through Genesis and Job.

There's more to the debate than just that topic, but today we want to explore another idea. What if there was a belief that explained God's sovereignty and man's free will in a way that didn't cause so much drama? Molinism is that answer. In the topic of God's sovereignty and man's free will Molinism comes with something called "middle knowledge." Middle Knowledge is God's ability to know all the realities of all the decisions that anyone could make. This is what we talk about this week with our guests, MolinistMemes! Today we discuss the intersection of theology and philosophy. We talk about how instead of philosophy and theology being in competition with each other, they work hand in hand. Having good philosophy is needed for good theology. Philosophy is the tool through which theology is built. That's not to say that philosophy is more authoritative than the Bible or God at all but that you can't have theology without philosophy. Enjoy!

Growing up in church most of us heard this saying "Modest is Hottest"

What is the #exevangelical movement? Well as far as Religionandpolitics.org is concerned, "It’s an activist movement full of individuals trying to reshape the political and moral narrative surrounding evangelicalism by subverting its claims to moral and patriotic authority." In that statement alone it doesn't sound too bad. However, one of the leading voices in the movement, Chris Stroop, has said, "When Christian nationalists are in power and perpetrating horrors, we should oppose their dominionism not with a different reading of the Bible, but with a robust defense of pluralism and secularism" So, this guy's idea of fighting against what the culture calls "evangelicalism" is to come at it with secularism. Which is innately against God and a biblical worldview. This movement claims to fight against racism, homophobia, and misogyny, which we also hate. Yet, the way they do so is to say that God isn't real and you shouldn't be Christian. That's not the correct way to come at these very real issues. The reality of evil in the world does not negate the necessity of a Creator. Join us as we venture into this topic that has shipwrecked many people's faith. Enjoy!

Being human, we all have failures. However, when people who are in leadership have failures, there tends to be more backlash to it. That makes sense as we are emotional creatures and when people we look up to fail, it hurts. And there should definitely be appropriate consequences to whatever failures occur. We read in the book of James that not everyone should become leaders because God will hold them to a higher standard.
The question is though, how should you, us, and the body of Christ as a whole react when Christian leaders have damaging failures.

The Hypostatic Union is a fancy term in theology to say that Jesus is both God and man at the same time. This is important because there a lot of people who try and say the Jesus wasn't all God and all man. That He was maybe 50/50, or maybe a man who became God. However, neither are true. Jesus is both 100 percent God, and 100 percent man.
