my hMy love leave slow
Linger on threshold
Waiting
Cast your voice in my oceans
Bait the hook with that tone
I can guarantee a good catch
Love is a haunted house
Ever since you & I cross this threshold
Things from our past been creeping out the shadows
I can’t give you the world
But I’ve got these hands
Claim them as your own
when yours are too weak
Too shame-filled to fold in prayer
I’ll bow palms on your behalf
I got you
I need my love brought to a slow boil
Soften the callused soul
Resurrect the flavor of a wounded heart
I don’t want this love of mine to be another place
you feel you can’t be yourself
Ain’t no stages here
Could you get the zipper on this strength?
it’s been hard to breathe
help me ease into something
a little more comfortable
like my humanity
Love is an ocean
Its depths unsearchable
Floats you to the surface
Waves an applause for
all the storms you’ve sailed
I’ll be your sky
Your ocean
You will not be the next man
You are the only
My past of rough drafts has written me just for you
I won’t be putting all my time where it ain’t invited
I’m teaching my affection not to overstay her welcome
I want a garden of love - so full
We leave no room for ego to bloom
Peace like weeds
choke it out at the root
I’ll fall in love with your backstage
My cheeks blush at you in process
Save your perfection
Keep your finale for the strangers
I’ll take you nervous • unsure
You’re sweetest with typo & error
With your bedroom light in place of the studio
With your morning voice before the effects
Before the tea can clear up your intention
It’s honest
Easy on my affection
Vulnerable
I like you like that
So come here,
Leave those edits at the door
Audio of my latest poetry book, Backstage (a collection of love poems)
This is a collection of love poems. No matter where I went to perform or the vast topic I’d explore with my pen, I always found my way back here, to love. It was the place I felt most at ease, safe and soft. I wanted the fluff, glam, and hard and messy parts of love to find a place in these stanzas.
I think love, good and true is an unavoidable desire that we all have, so here on these pages, I hope you find hope and company wherever you are in this journey of life and love. I hope you see the love that surrounds you beyond romance.
In this episode I break down my spoken word piece about becoming a woman. The poem is available on steaming platforms.

As women we often wear our strength as a badge of honor, it is often the source of our value. We are so much more than our ability to suffer and fight.
