This is the podcast of Dr. Anil K Rajvanshi (https://nariphaltan.org/shortbio.pdf). He is currently the Director and Hon. Secretary of Nimbkar Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) (https://nariphaltan.org). He has more than 43 years of experience in renewable energy R&D and rural development. He did his B.Tech and M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from I.I.T. Kanpur in 1972 and 1974 respectively. He received his Ph.D. in Mech. Engg. from University of Florida, Gainesville, USA in 1979. He was also on the faculty of University of Florida (Dept. of Mechanical Engineering) for 2.5 years before returning to India in 1981 to work at NARI. Besides the technology work he also has interests in spirituality, holistic living and sustainable development as evidenced by his book on the subject and his various writings which appear quite frequently in Speaking Tree (Times of India), Huffington Post, Thrive Global and South Asia Monitor. Dr. Rajvanshi has been writing about the interaction of human thought with matter since 1970s and those ideas (in diary form) have been distilled in his writings (https://nariphaltan.org/writings.htm). He believes that spirituality with high technology (https://nariphaltan.org/spiritech.pdf) should be the mantra of India’s development and practices what he preaches. Thus he lives a simple life (https://nariphaltan.org/simplelife.pdf) in rural Maharashtra while developing high technologies for rural poor.
This is an invited lecture that Dr. Anil Rajvanshi, Director of Nimbkar Agricultural Research Institute gave to freshman students at NICMAR University, Pune on 25th July 2023.
The lecture was followed by questions and answer session.
Sage Patanjali has been my teacher. Whatever little I have written in the last 20 years on spirituality or thought about the interaction of mind-matter and higher things have been inspired by Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and I have always felt that his spirit has guided me in this journey.
According to me Patanjali was a true scientist who gave the first knowledge about the control of thought and mind and about universal laws governing time and space. Unfortunately till now none of the commentaries on Yoga Sutras have explored them through the lens of science. I feel this podcast will help overcome that lacunae.
I have shown that most of his sutras mirror the findings of modern science and technology.

This is the inaugural talk that Dr. Anil K Rajvanshi gave at Techkriti 23 at IIT Kanpur in March 2023.
Dr. Rajvanshi talks about the challenges of providing high technology in rural areas and how with technology we can improve the quality of life of rural population and in the process show the world a new paradigm of development. Dr. Rajvanshi also talked how spirituality + Technology could be new paradigm of development.
The COP conferences are really a sham and a show of hypocritical behavior which brings out the real face of the selfish and the control freaks of the world. In the recently concluded COP 27 the much touted creation of loss and damage fund was nothing but hot air. With no details about who will provide money for the fund and which country will get how much this remains only platitudes.
The tycoons, heads of states and big industry leaders fly in their expensive personal jets and stay in total luxury in the resort places which are the venues of the conferences. There were reports that about 400 private jets landed in Egypt carrying the delegates! The amount of energy use and carbon dioxide production by these events is enormous and all the trappings of unsustainable lifestyle are on display by people who are talking and preaching about sustainable lifestyle!
Dr. Anil Rajvanshi has given suggestions on how to make them productive and what should be done to help go on the path to sustainability.
In this podcast Dr. Anil Rajvanshi talks about the neurobiological basis of fear, how it is formed and possible ways to overcome it and reduce it.
If we can reduce it then we can do wonderful things. History of world is history of fearless people who charted new paths and developed new thoughts, inventions and innovations.

All of us sometime or the other have experienced the Eureka moments or insights where suddenly the solution to a long-vexed problem emerges in a flash. Such eureka moments or sudden insights have been the basis of some of the greatest discoveries of this world.
So curiosity arose how the brain produces such moments and insights and what is the neurobiological basis of it.
The details with links are given in this article: https://nariphaltan.org/eureka.pdf
In this podcast Dr. Rajvanshi (https://nariphaltan.org/shortbio.pdf) talks about how spirituality gives us wisdom to use technology properly and also help us live sustainably. There is tremendous turmoil in the world.
I believe it has to do with the tremendous insecurity that mankind faces. Increased population pressures, stress of daily life, increased expectations fueled by social media together with the need for instant gratification add to this insecurity. This, in turn, fuels the greed impulse and for some who have power and resources, this impulse is enhanced.
One of the best ways to reduce greed and insecurity is by practicing spirituality. Greed is an outcome of the desire to possess. It is a part of the evolutionary process, and every human being wants to have resources for distressed times. In the absence of wisdom, this degenerates into hoarding impulse and greed. By practicing spirituality one can get the wisdom to understand that we should use things for our needs and not for our greed as Mahatma Gandhi once said.

Patanjali Yoga sutras, written almost 2500 years ago, are the earliest treatise on Yoga. In the book Sage Patanjali enunciates in a scientific manner how to control thought – a process which makes the mind powerful enough so that when it focuses on any subject its complete knowledge results.
In this broadcast Dr. Rajvanshi shows the deep science of sutras and how they match what has been discovered now by science. It is really uncanny that Patanjali wrote about all these almost 2500 years ago.

This is the broadcast of All India Radio interview given by Dr. Anil Rajvanshi on 13 November 2021. In this broadcast Dr. Rajvanshi discusses the challenges thrown by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in COP26 meeting and possible way we in India can meet them.
He feels that the vision shown by Prime Minister is a doable goal provided we set in motion huge program in human resource development, reduction of our energy needs and out of box thinking in developing renewable energy resource technologies based on biomimicry.
He also feels that this goal can be met by practicing the mantra of Spirituality + Technology = Happiness (https://nariphaltan.org/spiritech.pdf).
In this podcast Dr. Rajvanshi talks about how the great spiritual tradions of India can show the world a new path of development.
Thus instead of following the unsustainable growth example of the US and China, which is based on extreme greed and a very materialistic outlook, we should give the world a new direction of development where high technology is guided by spirituality

This is the interview of Dr. Anil K Rajvanshi on the new Engineering policy laid out by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). This policy states that for engineering college entrance it is not necessary for students to know Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. They can come from any stream and in the college they can take bridge courses.
Dr. Rajvanshi states that this policy was dictated more from commercial point of view rather than any solid reasons.
In late 1977 I was walking through a thick pine-grove in Gainesville, Florida, USA when suddenly a thought came out of blue that gravity and human thought may be related.
I was not thinking about this relationship or anything connected to gravity at that time, and hence was taken aback by this thought and felt that it must be true since it came with such a force. The power of this thought was such that I spent next 3-4 months researching it and, in the process, neglected my Ph.D. research. I also felt that pine-grove acted as an antenna for getting such a thought.
This event also propelled me to start investigating the area of mind-matter interaction and other aspects of spirituality. In fact, whatever little I have done within this realm in the last 40 years was triggered by this single thought.
Though I understood intuitively the import of this thought at that time and even today, somehow the relationship between deep human thought and gravity has remained elusive. Recently it appeared that there may be a light at the end of the tunnel! And this podcast is my humble attempt to show how the human thought and gravity may be related.

14th March is the birth anniversary of Albert Einstein. He has been one of my heroes and I have been inspired by his work and his life. So I thought of paying my small tribute to him.
Millions of words and thousands of books have already been written about him so what I am stating in this essay may not be anything new but for few anecdotes from people whom I knew.
I have always considered Einstein to be an extremely evolved human being and in my judgment, he occupies the same stature as Buddha, Christ and other great figures of history who have given mankind a new thought and have helped in its progress and evolution. Such people are few and far between but come to this planet earth to give a quantum jump to mankind’s thought.

On 30th January was the 73rd death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi – the apostle of peace and a person who engineered India’s independence from British rule in 1947. His decency, democratic nature, personal examples, and teachings are as relevant today in this divided and fractious world as they were almost hundred years ago.
I am going to narrate anecdotes about him from people who met and worked with him. Anecdotes help describe a person in human terms. No matter how great the soul is, once it acquires a human body then it is guided by the frailties of human existence.

We all identify entities with their forms. Either living or non-living entities are all identified by their physical forms. Our own body-form creates a memory map in our brain, and we identify ourselves and others with those memories.
The idea of form has always intrigued me. If a simple physical and thermodynamical analysis is done on a system, then one faces a dilemma on how to put the energy of form in it. For example when a body (either a living or a non-living one) gets destroyed then its atoms and molecules all get distributed in space since matter cannot be produced or destroyed except in nuclear fission or fusion; or at very high temperatures when it becomes plasma! Similarly, the energy that goes in making its structure converts into heat and is also dissipated in space. But what happens to the energy of form? And also what happens to its space-time structure that it displaced for some time in that form?
These are some issues which I think are fundamental to species survival and procreation. I feel that the fear of death is associated with the destruction of form. Hence all living entities protect their forms and procreate to provide its continuity. This podcast tries to explore these issues.

In this podcast Dr. Anil Rajvanshi presents a novel and unique description of Consciousness.
Since time immemorial mankind has always wondered what is consciousness and where is it located in the brain. Some recent scientific discoveries may provide a possible answer. There are various definition of consciousness but the most accepted definition is “awareness”. Awareness is an outcome of thought.

Throughout the history of human civilization there have been large number of instances where so called “miracles” have been performed. These have included levitation, production of material things from thin air, physical healing, etc. These events have come because of interaction of human thought and material surroundings. This podcast explores the possibilities on how human thought could interact with matter. Thus the nature of human thought, its characteristics and possibility of how it can interact with gravity and matter are explored. Novel concept of thought engine, existence of human thought in higher dimensions and its relationship with space, time and Universal Consciousness are discussed.

Throughout the history of human civilization there have been large number of instances where so called “miracles” have been performed. These have included levitation, production of material things from thin air, physical healing, etc. The nature of these miracles is same, irrespective of religion and different civilizations. Some of their accounts have been exaggerated but a large body of information shows remarkable consistency in their nature and reporting. To my mind these events have come because of interaction of human thought and material surroundings. After all, a thought produced by physical brain has to be physical in nature and hence governed by scientific laws. Thus the curiosity arose about which laws of science operate to make these things happen. I have tried to explore these issues in my first book called “Nature of Human Thought” which was published in 2004 and its second edition in 2010. Recently I have written another book “Spirituality + Technology = Happiness” which extends and explores the issues of mind-matter interaction further.
Besides I have been writing on these issues quite regularly in Times of India (Speaking Tree section); Huffington Post and recently in Thrive Global. All these essays are also available at one place in my writings.
The ideas contained in the books and writings have evolved intermittently over a long period of time and have been written in a diary form and posted on the web. https://nariphaltan.org/thought.pdf
I have been writing on these matters since 1977. Most of them are however intuitive and speculative in nature and hence are not exact in the formal sense. It is my hope that some bright reader will help in providing a rigorous formulation to some of them and do further research on these ideas. With this in mind I am doing a podcast on this issue and have included the link to the diary in the description of this podcast.

In this episode Anil K Rajvanshi was interviewed by All India Radio, Nashik on his thoughts about Mahatma Gandhi; his science, technology and sustainable development. Dr. Rajvanshi discussed that Gandhi was not an anti-technology or anti science but an engineer!
As a great yogi mahatma Gandhi lived a very simple and sustainable life and it is this aspect of his that is as relevant today as was almost 100 years ago when he enunciated his thoughts on sustainable development.
All of us who believe in India’s story and have strong attachment to this
ancient land of ours, want to see a prosperous and happy India. Each one of
us have a dream of how India should develop and progress. Just as Jawahar
Lal Nehru our first prime minister had said at the time of getting
independence that he had to solve 300 million problems (the population of
India at that time); similarly each one of us may have thought about “India
of my dreams”, though majority of us do not express it.
I feel a new thought and paradigm of development based upon the idea that
spirituality with technology produces happiness should be added to it.
Technology allows us to take care of our basic and daily needs and
spirituality gives us wisdom to use technology judiciously and for our needs
and not for our greed. This can lead to sustainable development and happiness for citizens of India and is the basis of “India of my dreams”!

This is a 5 minutes talk of Dr. Anil Rajvanshi broadcast by All India Radio via 62 channels all over India on 10th January 2019. Here Dr. Rajvanshi sheds light on Gandhi ji's innovative streak. He was a tinkerer and engineer. He was not anti science or anti technology as people claim. The interview was conducted by AIR Nasik.
Since time immemorial mankind has always dreamt of getting out of earth’s gravity field and reaching the stars. But this travel requires huge amount of energy and resources and with the present level of our technology we have only been able to go into near-earth orbits and few times to the moon and Mars. Till we have a major breakthrough in jet propulsion technology and materials, we will remain earth-bound.
However a simpler and energy wise cheaper method than spaceship travel is to go into space via the soul route!
In this podcast Dr. Anil Rajvanshi tries to use the quantum physics concept of tunneling to show how the soul or Atman can get out of the earth's gravity field. The transcript of this talk is at: https://nariphaltan.org/nirvanaandgravity.pdf
