We talk about new products from Horizon Hobby, Traxxas, RC4WD, Team Associated, ARRMA, LOSI, Carisma, Kyosho, Tamiya, Spektrum, Axial, Freestyle RC and many other big and small brands in the hobby. On top of brands, the podcast also has interviews RC drivers to get their take on the hobby and its direction.
Been busy working the past 6-8 weeks and it's limited my ability to put out RC content. I'm still working on things behind the scenes and racing, but I've dropped off on talking about it. Right now things are clearing up and I'm getting the RC "engine" fired up again.
I recorded this Live back in May, but never pushed it to the Podcast channels because things were super busy on all fronts. But Horizon brought back the Losi 5ive this time in electric form and the ARRMA Talion speed basher. Both great trucks decent fanbases.

Two topics for our main discussion today. We'll be sharing about the new Axial SCX10iii Toyota SR5 and then follow up with RC Monster Truck talk after JConcepts revealed more about their upcoming kit release of the Reactor.
Late start to the Podcast this year, but what a great topic to start with. The main focus of this will be on the teased JConcepts Reactor Stage 2 Retro Monster Truck Kit and RC Monster Truck racing. I'm sure I'll get off topic and talk other RC, but that will be the main thrust.
2025 was a great year for CCxRC. We hit 100k subs on YouTube and have seen a big spike in our overall views on all platforms...even this podcast. So to all of you I say, "Thank You!".
Time for another CCxRC podcast! I'm hoping to get at one more WMBC in before 2026. In this episode we'll talk through some of the recent releases and bring back the SCX30 talk now that they've landed. I've also go more monster truck racing to talk about and plans for 2026 I need to get sorted.

It's been a wild two months since I last made a podcast. I've been away from home a lot and am finally settling in to do a recap. Next time I'll take the podcast on the road with me. In this episode I'll be sharing about my trips to the Michigan Silver Lake Sand Dunes to run RCs and to Utah for the Losi RC Championship at the Monster Jam World Finals Pit Party. Happy Thanksgiving! There's some new RC stuff to talk about, but also a bit of my journey to this point and why I'm thankful for you and the RC hobby.
Things are finally settling down after the awesome weekend at the Great Lakes Gauntlet! We had mostly great weather and lots of opportunity to run RCs and hang out.
In this episode I talk about 2 game changers in the RC arena - Furitek and Vanquish. Furitek has been changing the game in the mini RC platform for years and continue to create new products that take it further. Vanquish has been making next level products for years and their new VRD lineup makes the entry into RC crawling comps much easier for people like me.
It's been over 6 months since the last podcast and I wasn't sure I was going to bring it back after such a long hiatus, but after many requests from the listeners....it's back! As with much of my CCxRC related social media it will be changing in some ways as I try to bring it all back to the hobby and less about the newest shiny product.
Coming atcha with another podcast. 2 weeks of snow kept me from going up to the studio to record, but warmer weather is making the path and outdoor stairs manageable again. This episode i talk about my Hardpark Crawlers vDub, the LMT Mini, a new Furitek ESC, etc.
New year. New RC Fun! This year I'm planning to jump back into the RC Monster Trucks hot and heavy. I'm not getting out of the 1/24 scale....just looking to be more focused and do them and Monster Trucks pretty regularly. We'll see how well I can stick to it. I know I can't keep trying to do everything RC related alongside the other work I'm doing now. It's too much and it really doesn't let me get invested into the areas of RC I enjoy the most. Here's to a new year and more RC fun!
Axial is going and tugging on some of my heart strings with their latest release of the CJ-7. I'm not nostalgic of anything CJ-7 related, but rather the type of driving they showed in their release video as it reminded me of the RC crawling that got me hooked 8 years ago. Before I talk about that, we'll talk about the comp I was at last night and then compare the Losi LMT Mini and the ARRMA Granite Grom.
I have been so excited about the release of the LMT Mini ever since I heard it was being made. We've been working hard to build up interest in mini RC Monster Trucks for a couple years and this release takes them to a whole new level. Losi absolutely nailed it on this release.
I'm also really excited about the Losi RZR Rey and the scale performance it delivers. As my bashing style has changed to a bit more of a scale driving style, I appreciate vehicles like this so much more.
This episode also goes into a little bit of the personal side of RC and life for me and where things went sour and how I'm working to bring it back fresh.

Coming to Horizon RC Fest or Axialfest Badlands? Bring your SCX24s and AX24s to have some fun Carnival Comp'ing with us. Next weekend we'll be at Horizon RC Fest June 9-10 with One24Mop putting on a fun comp for 1/24th scale crawlers. At Axialfest Badlands we'll be using the same rules, but using the natural settings near the 1/24 course they setup because it's the perfect terrain.
Because comps are not the main focus of either event, we've created some rules and 5 different classes to keep it easy for anyone to participate. Happy New Year you RC Freaks! I'm super excited about the possibilities for 2023. It's nice to start with a clean slate and a clear mind for the year. My goal is to work harder to make my 2022 goals have even more of an impact on my personal RC journey–and that starts with learning to say "No." As a "helper" personality, that is hard for me to do. I like to say yes and help people, but I'm at the point where it's no longer helping people as I can't keep up. Letting people down really stresses me out and that really hurts my content and frame of mind–which isn't what I want a "hobby" to do. So I'm going to focus on my wants and work with people when the two align. Be sure to focus on your health and mental health this year too. Let's do it!

Axialfest Badlands 2022 was off the hook! I'm so glad I was able to make it–even if it was only for a day and a half. Definitely was the best one yet and very well attended. The trails were laid out really well, the events I saw were well run and well attended (I didn't get to see TTC and the Concourse). They gave away tons of cool prizes and the trophies for the events were awesome. The best part is always the people...and there were a lot of them there. Very fun to meet up with old friends and make new ones. The $10k donation that Horizon made to Operation 11 Charlie was also amazing to see. Hope you enjoy the podcast. As someone who has as Masters Degree in Communication Arts, this is a really frustrating problem for me. The frustration really lies with the companies that allow intellectual property rights to be so blatantly infringed upon, make it hard to report/remove, and continue pay people who do it because they want people interacting with the app regardless what keeps them there. It is maddening to spend the time and money I do only to have people invest nothing, but grab my best content and other creators' best content and re-post it to grow their channel that has nothing original and make money off our investment. Youtube is good about fighting it. Instagram and Facebook let it flourish.
I have a lot to say about the RC Monster Jam World Finals. Some about the racing and freestyle, but mostly about the experience. What an amazing event they put on for the pit party.

When it comes to the RC Hobby, we all make mistakes along the way. Don't let it get you down. Learn from it and move on. My mistake was pretty big and during a time when I needed to be getting things ready for a big race. Instead...I had to tear down the truck and repair it. Lesson learned. What RC Mistakes have you made that you've learned from.

I've been working with custom-made mini RC monster trucks for the past year and now have the new Furitek Rampart kit in hand. It's a thing of beauty.

We're into week 4 of the Tiny Gappin' It Build Off series and I finally got to put my build on the ground to test it. The goal is top speed within the 90' x 12' area. I tested my speed and was a bit disappointed. We did extend the deadline to March 27th to allow for more testing and tuning videos so it isn't a one and done build. We realized it was looking like that was going to be the case and that didn't really lead to creativity in the builds. Also...Pablo fused his driveshaft and axle together and you have to order parts for these things...which adds days to the build time. I was asked to start sharing these livestreams as a podcast for people who want to listen while working. I'm going to give it a go and see if they jive with the normal podcast uploads or not. This was from the livestream with RC Amigos last night on the CCxRC channel. We discussed the Enduro24 "Tiny Gappin' It" Build Off we are doing.
Who wants to try something a bit different? You do? Cool. The plan is to have a competition to see who can take an Element RC Enduro24 and make it into the fastest drag truck within a 90' x 12' area. You must film the entirety of your run by first verifying the speedometer is zeroed out before driving, then show the run, and end by showing the speed achieved all in one continuous clip. Your run must start and stop within the 90' distance and not veer outside the 12' width of the lane. Cones, tape, or other items can be used to show the width and length of the area. There is a bit of an honor system for the measurements, but you should have them visibly marked.
The goal is to have fun, but friendly competition can be fun too, right? So there are some rules to keep us from going to crazy with this build off.

This podcast is a bit of a rant. Some may want to skip it, others may wish to indulge. Hit a boiling point with the feigned righteousness and the experiences of other RC people being used to say I lied an overhyped things. I don't take well to my integrity being called to question. Just because you pay for a car, doesn't mean your review is better or worse. There is more to take to account: location, temperatures, driving skill, type of driving, etc. Two first experiences will never be the same. Your bad experience doesn't negate my good experience and it pisses me off when people use their negative experience and bad attitude to try to claim that they are showing people the "only real experience" and use a weak argument that our experiences are some how hyped or false. Watch the freaking videos. We've done a lot and still are running them with no issues.
What irks me the most is that the rest of the negative Nancy's in the comments aren't capable of separating the one bad and negative experience from the overwhelming amount of other good experiences. There are good influencers and bad influencers and it has nothing to do with whether or not they get free stuff, but by the fruits of their attitudes. Seeing a lot of people leaning in hard to the negativity for views. Rotten fruit spreads quickly. People will be negative, step away from it. Embrace the good. There will always be bad, but you don't have to live there. Find the positives, enjoy the good and don't dwell on the bad.

2022 is starting off big with the new Primal RC Raminator V3 announcement and a new C10 Mega Truck. But I'm also liking the small side of things and just finished a Furitek Scythe build with Mofo RC SCX24 upgrade parts. We'll talk about that and more.

What do I think of the new Traxxas Maxx with Widemaxx. My comments are pretty positive on it. I like it.

This is a quick update from the road. I'm currently in my hotel room waiting for the race tomorrow. I didn't have much time after my move to get anything ready for this specific race, but I'm here to meet people, have fun, and do the best I can with the trucks I brought.
I know that many of you have been working customizing 1/24 scale crawlers and converting them into Micro Monster Trucks. This Southwest Monster Shop Tiny Titan is a step toward making it easier. One problem I've encountered and fielded many questions about is how to make them faster. There are ways, but it hasn't been easy to figure out what motor mounts, pinions, spur gears, etc to use. What a great weekend of RC I just had. I was coming off the high of Horizon RC Fest 2021 and landed on the Great Lakes Gauntlet to re-energize it and keep it going. What an event the Gauntlet was. It also let me see how big the RC hobby is here in the state, which is very encouraging. Beyond events like this, there are two hobby shops supporting the crawling scene in west Michigan: Reaction Hobbies and the Crawler Space–both in Grand Rapids. On top of that, the location of the gauntlet is at Walter RC Park that has tons of RC options from racing, to crawling, to bashing, to flying. I've also been informed about local indoor off-road tracks that I need to check out.

This recent move to Michigan was brutal. I haven't really been able to detail it all out for everyone and didn't plan to do it on video, so I thought I'd share in Podcast form. After detailing all the problems we encountered with this move, I do talk about upcoming events I plan to attend. I know for sure I'll be at Horizon Hobby RC Fest. I have my hotel booked and am getting my RC monster trucks ready. After that I hope to go to the Great Lakes Gauntlet the following weekend.
The move is getting very real. The office is in boxes and the moving truck arrives tomorrow. I can finally reveal where we are moving and explain why. But before I do that, I talk about the new CCxRC website I'm working on.

Wow! It's been a crazy couple months here at CCxRC. New RC release videos, No Limit RC World Finals, work trips again, and now selling our house. The market was too good not to see what would happen and it went quickly! We now have to pack up all our stuff and move out. Luckily we have an RV we can stay in if we can't get into someplace soon. That said, I've quickly learned that one person can have too much RC stuff. Haha! Packing my office and garage has been a beast and I'm still not done. I've left out a few things I want to still make videos on–if I don't run out of time. This home has is where CCxRC started and many family memories were made, so it will be hard to leave, but we look forward to new adventures and memories to be made. Don't worry, there will be lots of new RC content as well.
Time for another upgrade for the Redcat Gen8 V2. I'm putting a Spektrum Firma Sensored Brushless ESC and 1400KV Motor in it to give it some extra smooth power. On today's episode I unpack my latest video that may have been a little bit of clickbait in the titling...but it was also the reality of the video. I started the video showing a really cinematic and peaceful run with my Axial SCX24, then show what the reality of the filming was like....demolition derby. While the video was meant to only be the slow motion peaceful look, I decided it was too funny not to show the reality of it. This funny video does bring up an important thing to think about though....perception vs reality. What we perceive when we watch a video vs the reality of what it was actually like in person. Let's talk about that.
I made a last minute decision to attend USTE 2021 and am behind the 8-ball as none of my crawlers are ready to go. I just fixed up my Axial SCX10iii after having a bunch of issues with the electronics. It's performing well now.
In my attempt to make the LMT a bulletproof freestyle truck, I've bought the Treal 7075 Billet Aluminum axle housings. Yes it adds a little weight, but it's not as significant as you might think. It's about 6-7oz heavier, but tons stronger. I've already bashed with it and know that it will transfer the break point, but that break point is much higher now. I'm ok with that trade off.
NOTE: I mentioned the front axle installation problem...it's not 5 degree toe in on the front axle...it 5 degrees of Castor. I'm an idiot sometimes...most of the time actually.
Packing a lot into this podcast, including an off-topic ending...not sure how I ended up there. I just bought a new John Deere 1025r tractor with front-end loader and backhoe so I can continually change my backyard RC playground. I'm trying to go big for 2021, but this will also mean some changes to the format of the CCxRC channel. I won't have the money to constantly buy every new RC to review. Instead, I'll be working on some custom RCs that I already have most of the parts for. Hopefully I can keep costs down, but make CCxRC more entertaining than ever.
The first year of podcasting is in the books! Here's to 2021! My CCxRC brand has now been making what I call "RC Entertainment For The Masses" for 7 years. Boy did that go quick and I can't believe how much I have learned during those 7 years. I get to talking about that after a pretty lengthy detour about why I didn't do more podcasts at the end of December, which morphed into videos I still need to do (which goes into Venom and Spektrum talk), then I tangent to the LMT coming soon, the LMT and then get back on track about where I wanted to go....down memory lane.

I had the opportunity to interview ARRMA's founder Jason Dearden and he dropped a few little bombshells about what we can expect from the company in 2021! I was curious if the Mojave was still his favorite ARRMA since there had been a few new releases and refreshes in 2020 and his answer caught me by surprise. Apparently, his favorite ARRMA vehicle isn't release yet.
That sets the bar pretty high for some awesome releases from them in 2021. We touch on a lot in this podcast from COVIDs impact on manufacturing, while also really driving a spike in sales. Navigating through product releases and problems that can arise. I really do respect that he is on the frontlines in the groups trying to listen and helps us solve problems. Man, this is a ramble fest of things going on. From thoughts on my Clod Buster, to the LMT, the APEP chassis, and more. You all know I love my RC monster trucks, but I also just started running a TLR 22 5.0 AC and am having a blast with it. You'll have to listen for all the details.
Losi has gone and created a Monster! The Losi LMT 1/10 scale solid axle 4x4 monster truck. Not only is it a Monster Truck, but it's also created monster hysteria and started a Facebook selloff of older solid axle trucks. Just calm down everyone. I mean, is it the best solid axle ever offered as an RTR? Yes. Is it priced really well for what it offers as a solid axle RTR? Yes to that to. Will it be a competitive race truck right out of the box? Yes. Is it crazy durable out of the box? YES!....ok...I guess you can start going CRAZY.
In all seriousness, this is a really solid platform and one of the most fun "out-of-the-box" RCs that I've ever played with. It will make you a kid again. If you are into monster trucks, you will want to own one of these Losi LMTs. Call up your local hobby shops and put your name on one of their pre-orders.

I just got back from a weekend of RC monster truck racing at RC Madness in Enfield, CT. The event was slated to be the RCMTCNY World Challenge, but had to be changed because one of the organizers from came down with Covid. JConcepts and Freestyle RC stepped up to host an alternative event at the same location so that people could still come and race. It turned out to be a really fun event and the course they came up with was really cool.
I'm really excited to share Operation 11 Charlie with you. Two new RCs were dropped on the market recently that caught my attention and both of them really focus on a scale look with their detailed cages. I'm talking about the Losi Super Baja Rey 2.0 and the Enduro Gatekeeper. They are opposite ends of the scale market and in size, but both have a nice attention to detail in their build. I like what Element RC is doing with the gatekeeper because it gives that nice tube frame look, but also hinges up to allow easy access to the electronics. You don't get that with the SBR 2.0, but you'll probably also not work on tuning it as much as a crawler will want to mess with their setup. Or maybe I'm projecting my thoughts on all of you. Hah. Either way, both look like exciting releases to me.

The RC market has seen a huge influx of tiny trucks that are 1/24 scale....and I really dig them. They've made them more capable then before and they are really fun to run indoors. I just upgraded one of mine and took the boys to a new RC track in town that has a micro course.

It was a bit of a crazy week in RC last week. It started on Monday, August 10, 2020 when we heard that Horizon Hobby acquired Pro-Line Racing. That put everyone in a tizzy. The next day, Traxxas announced the Hoss. The day after that ARRMA dropped the Felony and Infraction V2. It was a release war.

Welcome to the first of a small series of podcasts about Axialfest Badlands 2020. It was awesome that Axial and Horizon Hobby were able to put it on given the current climate. The event was a great mind break from everything going on and allowed us to focus on our shared passion for the RC hobby.
This episode covers my entire Axialfest journey from preparation, to truck builds, to the event itself. I'll be covering the event specifics in other podcasts, so let me know if you have certain things you want me to hone in on. I plan to do one about my favorite part about Axialfest Badlands, another about experiences with people, maybe one on the night run, and one with Jeremy From Big Squid about his thoughts on it.

I also re-cap my painful 1/5th scale race day from last weekend. It was stressful, but I still really enjoyed the day and left with my RCs running better than when I came.

Couple of updates following the CCxRC livestream on YouTube last night. Had a few upgrades to get to. Hear about them here and why I did.
It was a week of new RC bodies! JConcepts announced the 1987 Buick Grand National street eliminator and Junior Mortician monster truck bodies, while also teasing some new tires in the background of their video. Pro-line dropped the 70's Rock Van body that looks like an old Dodge/Plymouth van. They also introduced some new tough-color bodies for their '69 Nova Street eliminator, '66 f100 Stampede body, and '46 Power Wagon.
Because I'm not popping them out as quick as I used to (until tomorrow hopefully when my Rodecaster Pro returns from repairs) I've got a lot to talk about. We'll be covering the new Team Associated DR10, my Slash Street Eliminator build, 5th scale monster truck track I'm building in my backyard, and more. Hope you enjoy it and are doing well.

Today is an exciting day. Axial was set to have a 15 year anniversary Celebration, but it was cancelled due to COVID-19. They did, however, just unveil a new SCX10iii. And as I write this description, Axial now had more info and photos on their site...and Scale Build's Guild just dropped a super detailed video worth watching. He also added a 3D printed head that looks like him and it's pretty amazing. So that's a cool option vs. my request to remove the driver to put in other figures. Anyway, it looks awesome and for $369 for the kit, I know I'll be ordering one.

It was a bit of an Axial weekend. My family and I went camping with my mom locally for her birthday. I knew the campground was going to be busy, but has a small beach that my boys like to build sandcastles on. We decided to bring our Axial Yeti Jr. Can-Am Maverick 1/18 scale UTV to race on the beach.
I also had an RC Monster Truck Race on Saturday afternoon that I planned to attend to race the retro class and new I could stop in at our Virginia Beach HobbyTown to get another Axial Yeti Jr. Can-am so we could drag race them on the beach...which I did.
The retro race was fun and pretty much a straight up drag race with obstacles. I TQ'd one truck, but blew it in both of my races.
I came back to the campground and we bashed and raced the Yeti Jrs on the beach. Made a fun video of it ifor YouTube.
When the beach was completely empty, I did pull out my ARRMA Kraton 4s and ripped it up and down the beach. I don't normally have that much room to really get up speed like that. It is wicked.
When we got home, my youngest son and I ran the Losi Mini-T 2.0 for a little bit in the front yard. I turned the Hobbywing ESCs punch up and it's really snappy and fun now.

Today on While My Batteries Charge, I have Jeremy Griffith–you may know him from his Everybody's Scalin' column on Big Squid RC. He's on to talk about his RC History, how to convince your wife to let you build a backyard track, how he got hooked up with Big Squid and more. I really enjoyed hearing his backstory. He'll definitely be back to talk more about current events and where he sees the hobby going this year.
Today's podcast meanders all over the RC spektrum from rumors about Traxxas and Redcat to talk about RC Drag Racing. None of these are topics I'm super-versed in, but I take a stab at it anyway because it interests me right now. I've heard rumblings that Traxxas has a new product announcement to make soon. I can't fully verify it yet, but it's still fun to speculate about what it might be. Will it utilize the new 4s system they put in the Maxx? Will it be a 1/5th scale Slash or E-revo? Maybe a 1/24th scale TRX4?
The same speculations are happening about Redcat on the heels of their latest announcement of the Windego. Will those axles be used for an updated SMT? Let's talk about that.

So Redcat released a new RC after I recorded this podcast this morning. There were only sneak peak images when I recorded this, but now it has been released and I guessed right. It looks like an Axial Wraith 1.9 as a 2.2.
I actually think that this is smart because they've now got axles they can use to upgrade their 13 year old Ground Pounder.
But really...I'm hear to rant about people complaining about YouTubers making videos on all the new RCs. You asked for it...or at least some of you who constantly bring this up. :)
These little Axial SCX24 RCs have got me hooked on the small scale trail trucks. I bring them with me and find places to run them, but I really want a little playground for them in my office that I can run them on when I need mental breaks. I've been using a lot of random items and Plaster Cloth in order to make the forms on 16" x 48" pieces of plywood. Can't wait to be done with it and start running it!

2019 was an awesome year for the RC hobby. So many cool new products came out for us to enjoy and the innovation has been insane. Here's to 2020 and more great RC fun.
It's a good day for us Solid Axle Monster Truck fans. Axial has updated the popular SMT10 truck and is making it available again in the new year. They've added a faster 550 12t Dynamite motor and metal gear transmission to the Grave Digger RTR–which addresses my my biggest complaints about the original–and they've added a builders kit.
On top of that, they lowered the price to $299 for the RTR and the kit is only $199.

The boys and I have been having fun racing Tamiya Clod Busters in the front yard with the Traxxas DTS-1 system. These retro monster trucks are a lot of because they aren't really fast and bounce around like their 1:1 counterparts from that era. Enjoy
The Losi Mini-T 2.0 has returned and is in high demand. Horizon Hobby has already sold their inventory of them, so now you have to find them at one of the shops that bought them to keep inventory of them. It's a sweet little ride and I love mine. Here's why...
There's lots of talk surrounding the great anticipated release of the ARRMA Kraton 8s. Much was said before it was announced and a lot has been said following its release. I was able to buy an early release for review and these are my thoughts so far.
I got a negative comment because I disclosed that I had received a free item to review on YouTube. I do it to be transparent and because the FTC says so. Let's talk about that and more.
The 1/24th scale RC craze continues and will probably be popular Christmas presents because of the price. I wasn't blown away by my 1/24 ECX Barrage UV, but have really enjoyed my first few days with the Axial SCX24 Deadbolt and I have a Carisma MSA-1E 1/24 FORD F-150 on the sway.
These are my thoughts after the No Limit R/C of VA monster truck race at Digger's Dungeon on November 2, 2019. It was the 12th annual Pumpkin Smash and we had great weather and a great group of people show up. Enjoy!
This might ruffle some feathers. I feel like it's a fair question to ask and hope it brings introspection. I don't think RC monster truck racing started out this way, but with industry changes it may have become exclusive because we didn't adapt to be inclusive. Let's talk about that.
