What many don't know: when he was in-studio the week prior to promote the new single (Saturday, 7 November 2020), Majozi mentioned to Carl Wastie off-air that he loved how Jethro Tait's mom surprised him with the news when 'Dreams' first charted... and so an idea was born...
The award-winning Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie hatched a plan to surprise Majozi in a similar fashion, should 'Falling' ever make its way onto the chart.

Every now and then a special artist emerges - young, brimming with talent and complete with a strong vision of their future. Mikhalé Jones is one such artist.

MiCasa’s new single, ‘Mamela’, is out – and a few weeks back, it was revealed the song is J’s favourite from Mi Casa. So naturally, Carl Wastie had to call him up to find out more about the track on the Kfm Top 40….
What Carl and the Kfm Top 40 team didn’t know was that we were interrupting J’Something’s weekend of love – as he was going away with wife, Coco, to celebrate their anniversary. But J’Something said that the song is so special and his love for the Kfm familia is so strong, that of course he would make a plan.
So, mamela (listen) to J’Something chat to Carl Wastie this past Saturday (17 Oct 2020) about ‘Mamela’…

GoodLuck have teamed up with German producer, Phil Soda, to remake a classic hit single, 'Freak Like Me'.
The song made waves around the world when it was released by Adina Howard back in 1995 and again by the Sugababes in 2002. Now, in 2020, Goodluck and Phil Soda connected to the lyrical content of the song and knew they wanted to put their own spin on the track and release it as their next single. It is also the second major cover by Goodluck who back in 2016 released there take on Londonbeat’s ‘I’ve Been Thinking About You’ to critical acclaim.
On Saturday, 10 October 2020, Carl Wastie caught up with Goodluck frontwoman, Jules Harding, to find out more about how the collab came together, on the Kfm Top 40. He also chatted with her about the band’s highly successful online series ‘The Luckdown’, which sees the band interviewing famous faces in an original talk show format.
As home to all your music exclusives, the Kfm Top 40 also got the lowdown on what’s next for the Cape Town group who are celebrating a decade of making audiences jam to bops like ‘Taking It Easy', 'Electro Thing', 'Trickery', 'Dear Future Me', 'Be Yourself', 'Waiting For You' and most recently, ‘Rum & Cola’. And the answer is something we’re very excited for: an acoustic album featuring the band’s favourite singles.

What wine would you pair with 50 Cent's 'In Da Club'? How about Master KG & Nomcebo's 'Jerusalema'?
On Saturday, 3 October 2020, Cape Town artist, Kerwin, joined Carl Wastie on the award-winning Kfm Top 40 to give him the answers... because more than just a musician, Kerwin is in fact an expert in wine!
The real reason for his visit to the Kfm 94.5 studios, however, was to give us the down-low on his latest single, 'Through The Night', which had dropped the day prior. Kerwin of course is no stranger to the Kfm Top 40, earlier this year lending his vocals to former top 10 single, 'By My Side' by EDM duo Wax Beach.

There’s a reason the Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie won both the Best Music Show and Best Weekend Show at the 2020 Liberty Radio Awards – because it’s more than just a chart show, it’s a lifestyle, a soundtrack and a home to exclusives and special moments.
Saturday, 3 October 2020, saw Carl Wastie and team get super creative to create yet another special, exclusive moment… through detective work, they managed to track down Jethro Tait’s mom and get her to tell Jethro that his single, ‘Dreams’, a Fleetwood Mac classic that he grew up listening to at home with his mom, had made it onto the chart – entering the Kfm Top 40 at no.32.
Coincidentally, Saturday was also Carl Wastie’s fourth anniversary at Kfm 94.5 – so Jethro was told he’d be congratulating Carl on 4 years at the Western Cape’s number one commercial radio station. Little did he know that his mom would be the person he’d be speaking to...

On Saturday, 3 October 2020, Carl Wastie played out an interview he had with Rowlene and BET nominee, Nasty C, about their latest project - a track called 'Stop'.
Connecting via Zoom, the Kfm Top 40 exclusive saw Carl Wastie getting to know a little more about the track and how it came to be, as well rapping for the two South African stars.
'Stop' comes from Rowlene's upcoming album '11:11'.
Whilst many know 'SMA' by Nasty C and Rowlene - a former no.1 on the multiple award-winning Kfm Top 40 - many don't know that these two are more than just collaborators, with Rowlene being the first artist Nasty C signed to his own record label, Tall Racks Records. The first single she released through the label was 'Curtain Call', another track that performed exceptionally well on the Kfm 94.5 chart show.

On Saturday, 26 September 2020, Amy Tjasink and Jimmy Nevis’s ‘Game Over’ was the highest climber on the Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie – up 7 places from no.17 the previous week (19 Sep 2020) to no.10.
After playing the first track of the Top 10, however, Carl Wastie had to put pause on the chart to find out about yet another collaboration with Jimmy Nevis. This time, a collab between producer, Howard Edward, and the ‘7664’ star.
It’s not the first time Howard Edward and Jimmy Nevis have worked together – as Howard was in the background of Jimmy’s record-breaking single, ‘Hey Jimmy’, which holds the record for the longest reigning no.1 from a local artist on the multiple award-winning Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie.
Howard Edward is a local producer and songwriter extraordinaire, although, chances are, you may not know him by that name, as he actually goes by a few… Benjamin, HE Produced It, and Howard Edward. And whilst his names may change like the weather in Cape Town, there is one constant: he makes epic music.
So, Carl Wastie called Howard Edward up on Saturday to find out about his new collab with Jimmy Nevis, which is called ‘Take A While’, and also to find out what on earth we should be calling him, as his name keeps changing!

2020 has been a big year for Cape Town artist, Mathew Gold, with the Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie.
It’s been the year he scored his first no.1 (‘Burn’) on the chart; but has also seen him enter the Top 10 on two separate occasions as a featured artist – most recently with ZYO’s ‘Dockside Days’, but previously with a firm listener favourite, the Kiffness’ remake of ‘Baker Street’.
Now he’s back with his next solo single, ‘Precious Time’.
The song is out on Friday, 11 September 2020, but as the home to exclusives, the Kfm Top 40 gave listeners a first time listen of the song on Saturday, 5 September 2020 – one week ahead of release.
Mathew Gold dropped by the Kfm 94.5 studios to surprise Carl Wastie for the exclusive first-time play.
Update: if you listened to the interview live, you may have heard mention of a competition linked to pre-saving the track ahead of its release. Owing to technical difficulties with the pre-save option, the competition has been put on ice and will officially launch with a new entry mechanic on Saturday, 12 September 2020 on the Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie. Tune in then to find out more.
