While earning my AA, I was introduced to Acupuncture through a friend and fellow yoga student, studying at Tai Hsuan, now known as World Medicine Institute. I began being treated by Dr. Gail Tadoki, a Master in five element theories. Once I was accepted into the Acupuncture program, I started receiving treatment from Dr. Chang Yi Xian, a 64th generation Heavenly Taoist Master from China.
The highlight of my education was assisting both Dr. Tadoki and Dr. Chang as they treated patients, developed herbal formulas and practiced Quong. The topic should first be understood by a child through the awareness and understanding of his or her own body. This book tells a story of a young girl, Rae, as she starts to discover herself, the people, and the world around her through her own body. This story will help young children to practice body autonomy, and body rights privacy. They can learn from Rae how to express consent or refusal toward receiving from and giving to others physical affection. Teachers and parents can also use this storybook to initiate conversations with young children about “safe and unsafe touches”. As the youngest child in a large family, Donna felt lost in the crowd. She entertained herself by making up stories and friends to play with. By age 5, Donna had taught herself to read, and that began her imaginative journey to dreamy castles with princes and fairy godmothers.
Donna is a grandmother, random fact-finder, and encourager. And, yes, she believes she’s a superhero.
She lives in California with her family and four cats. (Sadly, no mice like Simon.)
The Superhero School series was inspired by a bedtime story. It began with my youngest granddaughter asking about my cat, Ladybug, and why she stayed out all night.
Ladybug is purported to be the “real” cat woman, and while I am sworn to keep her identity secret, I can tell you the story of how it all began.
As a grandmother, I enjoy reading and spinning tales for children. Sparking the imagination of a child, so that they may become lifelong readers, adventurers, and writers is my main goal. Each book in the series encourages positive attributes, acceptance, critical thinking, and inner strength.
The core message is to remind the reader’s that they already have everything necessary to be a Superhero.
