Our summer study in Acts of the Apostles concludes in this episode. Natasha leads a recap, study, and reflection as well as discussion about chapters 27 and 28. We discuss insights on God's mission to take the gospel from it's small, Jewish-centered roots in Jerusalem to a mainly Gentile-focused movement that has now reached Rome (and beyond).
Questions to consider as a disciple:
- Is your life a witness to Christ?
- How would you withstand persecution?
- Are you confident in your calling?
- Do you trust God to go where He calls you?
Despite the persecution by his own people, the Apostle Paul was reassured by Christ that he would share the gospel of Christ in Rome and testify before Caesar. In the final two chapters of Acts, though Paul is in route to that destination, he experiences a rough journey at sea and finds himself stranded and shipwrecked with other prisoners and guards. Yet and still, the favor of God followed him in each circumstance. Paul makes it to Rome, establishes a ministry and the book of Acts ends there.
We discuss Luke's purpose for writing Acts and why the book ends at this point.
